  • Microsoft DBMS on-the-fly aggregation

    - by ILya
Some time ago i was reading an article about new MS DBMS technology. It's some kind of OLAP but on the fly. This technology can bind to data flows and then provide a real time aggregation. So the question is "what is it's name?". I need such a technology now but can't remember it's name... Or maybe there are some similar technologies?

  • How do I revert from FRF50 back to ERE27?

    - by Brenton
I got all excited with the leaked froyo update.zip that hit the net a few days ago, and installed it on my phone. Since then I've had many issues, the big one being ADB not discovering my phone. I'd like to revert my phone back, but can't find a signed update.zip on the nets that will do it. Does anyone know how I can revert my N1 from FRF50, back to ERE27? My phone is not rooted.

  • What are unusual and creative usages of html5 canvas

    - by stej
Canvas from html5 was introduced some time ago. Currently it's used (almost) only for demonstrations how cool it is - it's mainly related to painting, games and charts. Many of them can be found at Canvas demos. How creatively / unusually can canvas be used? Some examples: jsAscii - ASCII art from images with Javascript and Canvas (yea, I know, it's painting but not the classic one) Javascript compression using PNG and Canvas

  • Can't attach to Silverlight application with VS2010

    - by Budda
Few days ago all was ok: when I started my web-site with Silverlight 4.0 application with F5 in Visual Studio debugger was connecting to Silverlight automatically, but now it doesn't. I've tried to attach manually from "Debug"-"Attach to process" with "Attach to" option set into "Silverlight code" value. But my breakpoints are still "disabled"... Why? How can I resolve that? Thanks.

  • Gravatar server cache

    - by Santa
Does anyone know how and when Gravatar refreshes their icon caches? I changed my gravatar image for an email about a week ago. For the most part, my profiles that use it have had their avatar icons of various sizes refreshed, except one. In particular, the following URIs, while using the exact same email hash, fetch two completely different images: http://www.gravatar.com/avatar/73166d43fc3b2dc5f56669ce27984ad0?d=identicon&s=35 http://www.gravatar.com/avatar/73166d43fc3b2dc5f56669ce27984ad0?s=35&d=identicon

  • Online email tracing tool

    - by Clint
About 2 years ago I came across an online tool that would allow you to append something to the end of a destination email address. When the email was opened, the tool would email you their geographical location. Does anyone know anything about this tool? If it still exists?

Is there any scripts in any other languages such as shell/bash that works? :) Best regards, Erik Persson

  • SHA1 hash question

    - by phenevo
Hi, I have this method to hash a string: byte[] buffer = enc.GetBytes(text); SHA1CryptoServiceProvider cryptoTransformSHA1 = new SHA1CryptoServiceProvider(); string hash = BitConverter.ToString( cryptoTransformSHA1.ComputeHash(buffer)).Replace("-", ""); return hash; My question is: Is the resulting hash always the same for the same string? I hashed a string a couple of days ago and it seems that it now resulted in another hash, but i'm not sure.

  • Rails 2.3.5, Ruby 1.9, SQLite 3 incompatible character encodings: UTF-8 and ASCII-8BIT

    - by Daniil Harik
Hello, I know that question with same title has been asked almost 6 month ago. I have Googled for this problem and I have not found any working solution. Has there been any fixes for this very critical problem? I need to get my website running ASAP. Just to get the site up and running I'm even ready to add utf8 conversion methods to all my variables or risk to upgrade to Rails 3 beta Thank You in advance!

  • Manifest or Theme/Style for a IWebBrowser2 control?

    - by Bob
The IWebBrowser2 control has password edit boxes which are squares. This happened many years ago if you were on an XP machine, and you had a password edit field without a manifest file, you would get squares (no character found for the * they put in there with that font). My application has a manifest file. However I don't know how to give a manifest or set the theme or style of the control that is created. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Pros and Cons of automating Excel using VBA vs .Net

    - by Andy
I've been tasked with creating a financial planning tool in Excel that would benefit from some custom functions/macros. My initial reaction was to use VBA. I've used it to drive Excel before (say 5 years ago). But I then began to wonder if I would be better off using VSTO. Has anyone has experience using both techs and can list the pros and cons so that I can evaluate which course would be best.

  • Is it possible to search using type information in visual studio

    - by SnOrfus
It comes up from time to time and I'm wondering of it's possible to use type info when searching in visual studio, or is there a plugin that includes this? I'd like to search for the phrase "x == " or "x.ToString();" where x is of type 'Person'. The normal regex searches are strictly searching the text as opposed to the content and I figured out a long time ago that any thought I have is never the first.

  • What is missing from the Java API?

    - by Jack
I started using Java years ago and I've always found almost everything I need inside the standard API provided with JDK SE, with the exception of specific things that don't fit well inside a generic API, like GUI elements (graphs or so on) or advanced mathematical API.. So I was wondering: Which are the most important things that the Java API is missing? When I say "important", I mean either things that you have often needed, but have had to rely on custom libraries, or things that are usually are included in APIs, but not in Java's.

  • Is it Asp.Net or Ajax or can both technologies be used together when developing web sites?

    - by AspOnMyNet
    1) A while ago I’ve started learning Asp.Net, but then I’ve heard that Ajax is “the new thing”. Since I don’t want to throw away the time I’ve invested into Asp.Net, I’d like to know if it is a common/recommended practice to use both technologies ( Asp.Net and Ajax) when creating websites and web apps in general? 2) If it indeed is a common practice to use the two technologies together, is that only true for server-side Ajax and Asp.Net or can client-side Ajax also be used in conjunction with Asp.Net? thanx

  • Twitter Oauth GMT / BST problem

    - by Andrei Serdeliuc
I keep getting 401 when trying to login via Oauth with Twitter. I'm using twitter_oauth-0.3.3 with oauth-0.3.6 in rails It used to work perfectly some time ago, so after some digging, I realised it might have something to do with my timezone. In the headers of the Twitter response, one of them is: date: - Sun, 11 Apr 2010 16:53:34 GMT Even though the time is actually 17:53:34 BST I'm assuming the request is signed using BST time, and so it fails. Anyone had this problem / found a fix for it?

  • Delphi/Pascal training in high school/college/university

    - by Bruce McGee
Are Delphi/Pascal being taught in any high schools/colleges/universities, particularly in Canada and the US? I was surprised how many schools in the UK are teaching Delphi. Their largest exam board is even dropping PHP/C#/C in 2011 and encouraging Delphi. I also remember that CodeGear was going to provide development tool licenses to Russian schools a couple of years ago. I'd like to know if it's being taught closer to (my) home.

    - by Alterlife
I came across an article a long while ago on how to write out a .com file directly without using any external tools. the method was to basically copy con myfile.com and then hit ctrl+alt+number for each instruction. I've lost the url for the guide... Google isn't helping much either. If you have the link, please could you post it.
