  • Alt+F2 (Run Application) doesn't work for custom commands

    In order to speed up Android development, I've edited my ~/.bashrc to add some paths to PATH: export PATH=${PATH}:/opt/android-sdk/tools:/opt/android-sdk/platform-tools This works just fine from the command line (I can just type android and, no matter where I am, the Android SDK and AVD Manager will start up just fine. However, if I try to type android in the Alt+F2 dialog (Run Application), it gives the following error: Could not open location 'file:///home/felix/android' Error stating file '/home/felix/android': No such file or directory Why is that? What PATH does the Run Application dialog use?

    Jeder kennt die Reiterkarten im APEX Application Builder, mit der eleganten Möglichkeit, das Untermenü als Pulldown-Menü aufzuklappen. Und viele fragen sich, wie man sowas in eigenen APEX-Anwendungen verwenden könnte. Spätestens, wenn man dabei noch mehr als eine Hiararchieebene unterstützen möchte, kommen APEX Reiterkarten (Tabs) nicht mehr in Frage, denn diese unterstützen nur zwei Ebenen. Im Internet findet sich der eine oder andere Tipp zum Thema; allerdings basieren viele dieser Tipps auf den JavaScript-Funktionen, die auch der Application Builder intern verwendet. Allerdings sind diese nicht dokumentiert - man kann sich also nicht darauf verlassen, dass der Ansatz in künftigen APEX-Versionen noch funktioniert. Besser ist es also, eine Lösung zu erstellen, die keinerlei Abhängigkeiten zu undokumentierten Funktionen hat. Dieser Tipp stellt eine Lösung auf der Basis von APEX-Listen vor. Listen haben den Vorteil, dass Sie beliebig geschachtelt werden können, bei Klick können sie auf beliebige Ziele verweisen und mit Listentemplates kann die Darstellung ebenfalls beliebig gestaltet werden.   • Proper way to measure the scalability of web Application

    Let's say that I have a web Application where i'm going to have 300 users and each one have to see data on real time, imagine that each client make an ajax call to the server to see in real time what's happens with the changes of the data, this calls are made each 300 ms per user. I know that i can run a simulation to see if the hardware of my server supports this example. But what happen's if the number of users start to grow up. Is there a way that i can measure the hardware needed to handle this growing behavior, a software, a formula, algorithm or maybe recommend me if i need to implement an distributed application with multiplies servers and balance the loads.

  • I don't understand Application Domains

    .NET has this concept of Application Domains which from what I understand can be used to load an assembly into memory. I've done some research on Application Domains as well as go to my local book store for some additional knowledge on this subject matter but it seems very scarce. All I know that I can do with Application Domains is to load assemblies in memory and I can unload them when I want. What are the capabilities other that I have mentioned of Application Domains? Do Threads respect Application Domains boundaries? Are there any drawbacks from loading Assemblies in different Application Domains other than the main Application Domains beyond performance of communication? Links to resources that discuss Application Domains would be nice as well. I've already checked out MSDN which doesn't have that much information about them.

  • ADF Mobile Application in the Apple AppStore

    Hi, everyone: I would like to announce that there is now an iPhone App in the Apple AppStore that's built using Oracle ADF Mobile.  This app is the Hudson Mobile Monitor application for the iPhone, which allows you to monitor build status for the Hudson Continuous Integration server.  By default it points to the production instance of the Hudson CI server hosted at Oracle.  One of the key goals for ADF Mobile in general is to ensure an application built using ADF Mobile is compliant with Apple iOS SDK terms.  We designed the framework to ensure applications can go through the approval process - of course there are still things that can be done which would cause issues during the approval process, and we will be publishing more best practices in the coming articles.     Details: eth0 = current internet port pptp1 = VPN connection, if I connect to my provider, he give me an IP address, which is accessible from the internet. This is what I need. I want to connect through this IP back to my PC. I want to keep my primary internet connection (eth0) on my PC for all traffic, but route traffic to VPN for specified application/or port, to access application/port from the IP, which I given from the pptp provider. Huhh? Difficult but, it is possible? If yes, how? Incoming port will be always: 33340 Outgoing port can be change, but usually it is 33330

  • Multi-platform Map Application

    I'm working on a web project (PHP, jQuery) which currently using Google Maps powering up the map functionality of the application, however we need to make it multi-platform like you can go to the dashboard and choose one from 5-10 map providers (which Goolge Maps is just one of them) to underlying your map functionality. So, as the application is supposed to show the data on map, almost in every single place we have to deal with the API provided by that specific map provider. Currently we are thinking about revising our modular structure and/or making something like an adapter for each provider to deal with their native syntax but via our standard methods. I wish to have your ideas and your experiences, specially if you ever made an interface for dealing via 2-3 different map providers. That would helps much and I really appreciate that. If you need any further information, just ask me to update the question. Update: As Vicky Chijwani suggested Mapstraction, now I'm also wondering which one is more better (pros & cons), having an adapter implemented on Javascript or PHP?

  • Why fork a library for your own application?

    Why should a programmer ever fork a library for inclusion in a widely used application? I ask this question because I was reading an article about why Chromium isn't packaged for many Linux distros like Fedora. Apparently its largely due to the fact that Google has forked a number of libraries, modified them, and included them in Chromium. This has driven up the complexity of packaging releases. There are a number of reasons why this can be a bad thing, but how strong a case can you actually make for doing so in a large widely used application such as Chromium? In the project I am working on, they are kind of blended and I can't tell the difference until I read the book (and I can't say it's very clear to me now), really. My questions, since both of them concerns the logic of the application and are supposed to be clean of technical and presentation aspects, what are the advantages of drawing a boundary these two?

You can easily create a shortcut that uses the runas command with the /savecred switch, which saves the password. Note that using /savecred could be considered a security hole – a standard user will be able to use the runas /savecred command to run any command as administrator without entering a password.   • Java application crashes on startup in citrix session

    Hello We have a java application published through citrix. When application is launched for a new user, it crashes immediately on startup. If we login using RDP, then log out (not starting the app), it starts to work. We've published another smaller java app, and it works for new users, without the need to first log on using RDP. Steps: - Publish java app - create new user - run published app in citrix -> crash - log on user using rdp, log out - run published app in citrix -> works fine Its becoming real tiresom to log on each new user to each citrix server :-P

  • Deploying an application on a windows domain

    I'm looking for different ways to deploy, execute and uninstall an application on all machines of a Windows domain. I've did some research on Group Policy Object (GPO) but I'm still looking for other ideas. As I said, I need to deploy the application, run it without the user having to click anything and letting him to control over the machine. Once it's finished running I need to uninstall it and never run it again. Can such things be done with a GPO? Are there any other possibilites on a Windows domain? Thank you

  • What is the root of my application?

    Can someone help me understand what is the root of my application? I would like to use vim and create a one line procfile in the root of my application. Then I can test the procfile using a gem called foreman with the following command in my terminal: foreman start I have tried sudo vim /procfile and created the file and saved it in what I thought to be the root. Then I typed: foreman start and the response is that Procfile does not exist. Any help would be most appreciated.

  • Using a back-end mechanism to copy files to DB and notify the application

    This Scenario: User copies large files to a local folder. I want to watch that folder and when a new file is dropped then go and copy it to Database, so later when coping is done I can actually use it in my application. ( A C# WinForms App). It would be awesome to also find a way to somehow get notified in the Application that hey copying the file to DB is finished and ready for use... I am using C#.net, Windows... What solutions/architecture do you suggest for this? For example having a windows service running all the time watching that folder, when something copied goes and write it to DB ... then how about getting notified? MSMQ is something I can use? don't know much about it yet. Thanks.

Usually I need to fetch some remote data (covered by authorization process) to local cache. And on next request: Check networking Check presence of cache file Check version of cache file (if networking) Get new version and save cache (if networking and file not in cache, or outdated) Data store is no-SQL JSON Document-Based (and yes, I know about CouchDB Android version, but it doesn't fit my needs yet.) Process of authorizing to data source and code for check version of local cache is adapted to application. But the other code (handling network, saving cache, handling exceptions,...) is always the same. Is there any Data Store helper I can use, which provides functions I described above?

As Scott Allen writes in his OdeToCode blog: One scenario I haven't found addressed very well is the scenario where multiple apps exist in the same greater web application and require some shared code on the client. Are there any recommended approaches to take, pitfalls to avoid, or good sample structures of this scenario that you can point to?
