• VLAN support on Juniper EX - 2200 switches

  I have 6 Juniper switches (EX - 2200) connected to each other as shown in the network topology below. I have two PC's that I am using PC1 - (used for configuring the 6 switches via minicom) PC2 - to monitor the traffic between the switches via the Ports that are marked with arrows in the diagram. STEP 1: I create a new vlan On Switch 3 (SW3) that includes Port 12 and Port 22. I also assign l3-interface to the vlan (vlan_2) with ip address - 192.168.1.7. Now I plug-in Port 0 of Switch 3 on PC2. Now I try pinging 192.168.1.7 from PC2 (192.168.1.10) I want to know what will happen? My postulation is that I will not be able to ping SW3 from PC2.This is because SW3 (Port 12 and Port 22) is a part of a vlan_2 and vlan_2 logically breaks up broadcast domains and so 192.168.1.7 will not be reachable from 192.168.1.10. Now I have an l3-interface on SW1 with IP 192.168.1.1 using default vlan( vlan-id 0). Similarly I have enabled IP on SW2 - 192.168.1.2 SW3 - 192.168.1.3 SW4 - 192.168.1.4 SW5 - 192.168.1.5 SW6 - 192.168.1.6 all using default vlan. Now I plug in Port 12 of SW3 (blue cable) into the PC2. I try to ping 192.168.1.1 from PC2. What will happen at this stage.? My postulation is that I will be able to ping switch 1.Is this correct? Also another question is that can a single port on a Switch be added multiple VLANS? I am a beginner at network configuration? Any help would be highly appreciated. (Please ignore the CISCO symbol on the switches in the diagram.All swithes are Junper EX 22-00.)

• Cross platform support for network attached USB hubs?

  I am looking at network-attached USB hubs in order to run licensed software in a virtualized environment when hardware dongles are required. Are there any solutions that will work with both Linux and Windows? Most of the dedicated devices -- such as the Zonet ZUH2214 or the (oddly expensive) Digi AnywherUSB/2 -- appear to be Windows-only. Linux has the the USB/IP project, for which there appear to be Windows drivers, but the last "News" post on the site was in 2007, so I'm not entirely confident about the viability of the project. Has anyone out there found a solution that will work well in both environments?

  I am trying to RDP from a Windows 7 Professional dual monitor physical machine to a Windows 7 Professional VM hosted on esxi 4.0. I can get the spanning option to work to both monitors, but I have tried 3 different methods of connecting but have not been able to use true multiple monitors. At different times, I tried checking the "use all monitors" option, command line mstsc /multimon and added the line use multimon:i:1 to the .rdp file. None of these worked. Any ideas? The physical machine can connect to other Windows 7 physical machines with true multi monitor access. I also have the same issue when going from a 32bit RC1 machine to a Windows 7 Professional x64, but not when going in the reverse direction.   According to vendor site HP 8530w supports 802.11n draft mode. My Windows 7 tell me that network card is 5100 ABG and know nothing about N mode (guys from Intel forum mentioned, that 802.11N versions must ended with N letter, e.g. 5100 ABN). Not sure if it matter, but my laptop model id is #FU462EA. How could I check that my Wifi card compliant with 802.11n (I suspect that "draft N" could have two "special" meaning: doesn't work with 802.11n at all or requires special activation of the mode). Any hints are welcome.

  What does mean the plus sign before */dyn in the :version command's output, e.g.: +python/dyn +python3/dyn +ruby/dyn +tcl/dyn I didn't find any useful documentation on it. When I run :echo has('python3') Vim returns 0. When I run :python3 print('hi') it says E370: Could not load library python31.dll meaning I should install python (as I understand). So I just can't see the difference between -*/dyn and +*/dyn. What does plus sign give to us? Also what's the difference from dyn-less feature, e.g. +python?

  Hi there! I'm very confused about my motherboard (ConRoe945PL-GLAN) It's manual says, that i can use only some kind of ConRoe processors. But some pages on internet says that i can plug in almost everything. For ex.: aria.co.uk says that i can plug in even Core 2 Duo. It would be awesome if i would not have to buy new motherboard! Anyway, if my motherboard will not let me to plug in Core 2 Duo, should i buy Pentium 4 (very cheap) with 3,2 GHz and insanely overclock it to have some performance or buy new motherboard + new processor for big money? • Streaming video from a point-and-shoot camera that doesn't support it

  I have a Canon IXUS 120is (PowerShot SD940) - a nice digital camera that's a couple of years old. It does record fairly decent video, but, alas, can't function as a webcam - and I need to stream video over the Web. I've installed CHDK on it, and while it's quite flexible, doesn't seem to provide a solution to my problem. I suppose that the video footage is written to the SD card in real time - is there a hack that allows me to monitor the file as it is written, and broadcast its contents over the Internet? Perhaps connecting its the camera's slot to my laptop's card reader via SDIO? I'm running Windows, but I'm roughly familiar with Linux; another question has suggested a file-to-/dev/video driver - do such tools exist?

• How will I support 100,000 requests an hour?!

  I know this question is a little strange but I got lucky with an idea and I need some numbers to use for when I try to make a deal with a company. I'm wondering how much it'll cost me to run a site that's heavy on PHP and gets between 70,000 and 100,000 requests an hour on something like Rackspace's Cloud Servers. I have no idea how many servers I need or how much RAM each one should have. There will be a decent number of images on the site (probably something like 10,000 in the first couple weeks) and the site runs on about 2,500 lines of PHP code. I figure I should sign up for a CDN of some kind, although CDN In A Box is all I've heard of and I'm not sure it's necessary for a site that's already on a cloud platform. I've obviously never done anything like this before so I'm just looking to get an estimation of what I need for this massive site... Also, I use a database and I was wondering how that works - would I dedicate one of the cloud servers to running the database or would I need to put the database into each of the cloud servers? What am I doing wrong here? Update 1: After doing a make clean and make distclean, I've reconfigured with the same parameters as above without any effect. The config.log is at Pastebin. Update 2: Modifying the LD_LIBRARY_PATH had no effect on the lib-deps of mod_ssl.so. UPDATE 3: I've compiled and recompiled many times, and verified with ldconfig that the OpenSSL libs dir is in my path, and included in ld.so.conf. Still cannot get httpd/mod_ssl to load the library at runtime.

  I am trying to setup a SFTP server, running off Ubuntu Server 11.04. I installed openssh-server to provide SSH access. What I am trying to do is make file uploads run with a suffix (.filepart or whatever), which would be removed upon transfer completion. The flow idea is: User uploads cat.jpg The server starts writing cat.jpg.filepart in the destination directory Once the upload completes, the server trashes the previous cat.jpg (if any) and renames cat.jpg.filepart to cat.jpg This is to make sure that incomplete file uploads do not overwrite the existing files.   I want to configure SPF on a domain to allow mail to be sent from: the x.com website server (x.com and www.x.com - both at same IP) it's MX servers (smtp.x.com, mx.x.com, mail.x.com) another server that isn't listed as an MX server (somehost.x.com) via gmail using an account that has authenticated use of [email protected] Will this zone file work? I mean everything. But still no luck running the file. I was also trying to find a converter to convert the file into an acceptable format. But unable to do that either. Can anyone help me with this.   I am looking at Outlook for Mac (in Office 2011). I wanted to find out what versions of Exchange are supported, as well as whether MAPI is supported. I googled and also searched the Microsoft site. I also checked in wikipedia, but it was probably too soon. I found announcement about Outlook for Mac I found the system requirements on the official site, but they don't say anything on these topics. I saw some forum traffic saying: MAPI is not supported, but there was no attribution, so I won't bother to quote it. Can anyone point me to some official documents that address these concerns?

• Centos 6.3 install reiserFS support

  I'm trying to change an existing ext4 partition to reiserFS in Centos 6.3 64bit. I've updated the kernel to Centos Plus: First, I've updated /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Base.repo: In the [centosplus] section: enabled=1 includepkgs=kernel* Then I ran yum ypdate and my Kernel was updated to Centos Plus: [root@vappsil disk]# uname -r 2.6.32-279.11.1.el6.centos.plus.x86_64 Then, I've added this to /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Base.repo into the [centosplus] section: includepkgs=kernel* jfsutils reiserfs-utils into the [base] and [updates] section: includepkgs=kernel* jfsutils reiserfs-utils But when trying to execute: yum install reiserfs-utils I get: No package reiserfs-utils available. How can I install the reiserFS-utils package to create a reiserFS partition?

• Dropbox alternative with local sync support?

  I am currently using Dropbox. Just decided to sync my huge (about 5 GB) iTunes Library (music collection) in Dropbox. For that I must subscribe to their paid account. But before I do so, I'd like evaluate the alternatives. Is there an alternative that does this? Local LAN sync (eg: sync my huge music collection across computers in local network without uploading/downloading them to internet) The following would be nice (but not required): Native android client - so music will be made available in the Android music app / SDHC card Selective sync: sync particular folders / exclude certain folders on certain computers .. eg: excluding porn folder on work computers ;-) Just like Dropbox, it MUST work on 64-bit Windows, Linux and Mac. Know of any? (I am currently evaluating Spideroak. Boy, was it so complicated to use?)
