  Der Endspurt bei den Vorbereitungen fr die dotnet Cologne 2010 am Freitag 28.5.2010 luft. Stefan Lange, Albert Weinert, Melanie Eibl (vor einigen Wochen zum Orga-Team gestoen und seitdem nicht mehr wegzudenken) und ich haken nach und nach die letzten Punkte auf der TODO-List ab. Die Konferenz ist seit langem ausgebucht, da hat dann auch die Verdopplung der Teilnehmerzahl gegenber letztem Jahr nichts geholfen. • Al abrir archivo desde navegador se abre el directorio

  al descargar un archivo a través de cualquier navegador (chrome, firefox, etc) e intentar abrirlo directamente, en vez de abrirse el archivo se abre el directorio en que se descargó. lo mismo me sucedió al intentar abrir un archivo desde el dash de gnome-shell. Esto sólo me sucede con los accesos directos a los archivos, cuando estoy dentro de nautilus se abre el archivo sin problemas. he intentado en distintos entornos de escritorio, el que uso más constantemente es Gnome-Shell, bajo Ubuntu 12.04 ¿cómo lo puedo solucionar? Gracias!

Si pincho en la carpeta de /opt, no hay carpeta personal, ¿y como uso ese espacio del disco? Gracias.

• ISO booting with grub2 in Ubuntu on an Apple

  I have Ubuntu with grub2 installed in an Apple Macbook pro with dual boot (using rEFIt), and I would like to use grub2 to boot the LiveCD ISO image of a system based in Debian too (CrunchBang). The ISO image is saved in the same hard disk, same partition as Ubuntu. I can easily boot many other LiveCD ISO images, but I cannot boot this one, and I cannot boot the MacOS system, from the grub menu, either. The installation of Ubuntu left a couple of menu entries to boot MacOS, but they never worked. SO I don't know if it is possible to boot them, and how. • OpenGL and atlas

  I'm trying to draw element from a texture atlas with OpenGL ES 2. Currently, I'm drawing my elements using something like that in the shader: uniform mat4 uCamera; uniform mat4 uModel; attribute vec4 aPosition; attribute vec4 aColor; attribute vec2 aTextCoord; uniform vec2 offset; uniform vec2 scale; varying lowp vec4 vColor; varying lowp vec2 vUV; void main() { vUV = offset + aTextCoord * scale; gl_Position = (uCamera * uModel) * aPosition; vColor = aColor; } For each elements to draw I send his offset and scale to the shader. The problem with this method: I can't rotate the element but it's not a problem for now. I would like to know, what is better for performance: Send uniforms like that for each element on every frames Update quad geometry (uvs) for each element Thanks!

• How to code UI / HUD in Entity System?

  I think I already got the idea of the Entity System inspired by Adam Martin (t-machine). I want to start using this for my next project. I already know the basic of Entity, Components, and Systems. My problem is how to handle UI / HUD. For example, a quest window, skill window, character info window, etc. How do you handle UI events (eg. pressing a button)? These are stuff that doesn't need to be processed every frame. Currently, I'm using MVC to code UI but I don't think that'll be compatible for Entity System. I've read that Entity System is embedded on a larger OOP. I don't know if UI is outside of ES or not. How do I approach this one?

Egy-két éve vezette be az Oracle a Lifetime Support Policy-t, ami tulajdonképpen az összes termék esetében szabályozza a teljes életciklus alatti támogatási szinteket. Ennek megfeleloen 3 támogatási szint létezik: - Premier Support: Ez a megjelenéstol számítva 5 évig ad teljes támogatást. - Extended Support: További 3 év támogatás magasabb áron. Közel ugyanazt a szolgáltatást nyújtja, mint a Premier Support, csupán más gyártók új termékeivel, vagy új verzióival nem certifikál. - Sustaining Support: Technikai támogatás mindaddig, amíg a rendszer muködik. Új hibákra már nem ad javítást, és új Oracle termékekkel sem certifikál

• LINQ und ArcObjects

  LINQ und ArcObjects Motivation LINQ1 (language integrated query) ist eine Komponente des Microsoft .NET Frameworks seit der Version 3.5. Es erlaubt eine SQL-ähnliche Abfrage zu verschiedenen Datenquellen wie SQL, XML u.v.m. Wie SQL auch, bietet LINQ dazu eine deklarative Notation der Problemlösung - d.h. man muss nicht im Detail beschreiben wie eine Aufgabe, sondern was überhaupt zu lösen ist. Das befreit den Entwickler abfrageseitig von fehleranfälligen Iterator-Konstrukten. Ideal wäre es natürlich auf diese Möglichkeiten auch in der ArcObjects-Programmierung mit Features zugreifen zu können. Denkbar wäre dann folgendes Konstrukt: var largeFeatures = from feature in features where (feature.GetValue("SHAPE_Area").ToDouble() > 3000) select feature; bzw. dessen Äquivalent als Lambda-Expression: var largeFeatures = features.Where(feature => (feature.GetValue("SHAPE_Area").ToDouble() > 3000)); Dazu muss ein entsprechender Provider zu Verfügung stehen, der die entsprechende Iterator-Logik managt. Dies ist leichter als man auf den ersten Blick denkt - man muss nur die gewünschten Entitäten als IEnumerable<IFeature> liefern. (Anm.: nicht wundern - die Methoden GetValue() und ToDouble() habe ich nebenbei als Erweiterungsmethoden deklariert.) Im Hintergrund baut LINQ selbständig eine Zustandsmaschine (state machine)2 auf deren Ausführung verzögert ist (deferred execution)3 - d.h. dass erst beim tatsächlichen Anfordern von Entitäten (foreach, Count(), ToList(), ..) eine Instanziierung und Verarbeitung stattfindet, obwohl die Zuweisung schon an ganz anderer Stelle erfolgte. Insbesondere bei mehrfacher Iteration durch die Entitäten reibt man sich bei den ersten Debuggings verwundert die Augen wenn der Ausführungszeiger wie von Geisterhand wieder in die Iterator-Logik springt. Realisierung Eine ganz knappe Logik zum Konstruieren von IEnumerable<IFeature> lässt sich mittels Durchlaufen eines IFeatureCursor realisieren. Dazu werden die einzelnen Feature mit yield ausgegeben. Der einfachen Verwendung wegen, habe ich die Logik in eine Erweiterungsmethode GetFeatures() für IFeatureClass aufgenommen: public static IEnumerable GetFeatures(this IFeatureClass featureClass, IQueryFilter queryFilter, RecyclingPolicy policy) { IFeatureCursor featureCursor = featureClass.Search(queryFilter, RecyclingPolicy.Recycle == policy); IFeature feature; while (null != (feature = featureCursor.NextFeature())) { yield return feature; } //this is skipped in unit tests with cursor-mock if (Marshal.IsComObject(featureCursor)) { Marshal.ReleaseComObject(featureCursor); } } Damit kann man sich nun ganz einfach die IEnumerable<IFeature> erzeugen lassen: IEnumerable features = _featureClass.GetFeatures(RecyclingPolicy.DoNotRecycle); Etwas aufpassen muss man bei der Verwendung des "Recycling-Cursors". Nach einer verzögerten Ausführung darf im selben Kontext nicht erneut über die Features iteriert werden. In diesem Fall wird nämlich nur noch der Inhalt des letzten (recycelten) Features geliefert und alle Features sind innerhalb der Menge gleich. Kritisch würde daher das Konstrukt largeFeatures.ToList(). ForEach(feature => Debug.WriteLine(feature.OID)); weil ToList() schon einmal durch die Liste iteriert und der Cursor somit einmal durch die Features bewegt wurde. Die Erweiterungsmethode ForEach liefert dann immer dasselbe Feature. In derartigen Situationen darf also kein Cursor mit Recycling verwendet werden. Ein mehrfaches Ausführen von foreach ist hingegen kein Problem weil dafür jedes Mal die Zustandsmaschine neu instanziiert wird und somit der Cursor neu durchlaufen wird – das ist die oben schon erwähnte Magie. Ausblick Nun kann man auch einen Schritt weiter gehen und ganz eigene Implementierungen für die Schnittstelle IEnumerable<IFeature> in Angriff nehmen. Dazu müssen nur die Methode und das Property zum Zugriff auf den Enumerator ausprogrammiert werden. Im Enumerator selbst veranlasst man in der Reset()-Methode das erneute Ausführen der Suche – dazu übergibt man beispielsweise ein entsprechendes Delegate in den Konstruktur: new FeatureEnumerator( _featureClass, featureClass => featureClass.Search(_filter, isRecyclingCursor)); und ruft dieses beim Reset auf: public void Reset() {     _featureCursor = _resetCursor(_t); } Auf diese Art und Weise können Enumeratoren für völlig verschiedene Szenarien implementiert werden, die clientseitig restlos identisch nach obigen Schema verwendet werden. Damit verschmelzen Cursors, SelectionSets u.s.w. zu einer einzigen Materie und die Wiederverwendbarkeit von Code steigt immens. Obendrein lässt sich ein IEnumerable in automatisierten Unit-Tests sehr einfach mocken - ein großer Schritt in Richtung höherer Software-Qualität.4 Fazit Nichtsdestotrotz ist Vorsicht mit diesen Konstrukten in performance-relevante Abfragen geboten. Dadurch dass im Hintergrund eine Zustandsmaschine verwalten wird, entsteht einiges an Overhead dessen Verarbeitung zusätzliche Zeit kostet - ca. 20 bis 100 Prozent. Darüber hinaus ist auch das Arbeiten ohne Recycling schnell ein Performance-Gap. Allerdings ist deklarativer LINQ-Code viel eleganter, fehlerfreier und wartungsfreundlicher als das manuelle Iterieren, Vergleichen und Aufbauen einer Ergebnisliste. Der Code-Umfang verringert sich erfahrungsgemäß im Schnitt um 75 bis 90 Prozent! Dafür warte ich gerne ein paar Millisekunden länger. Wie so oft muss abgewogen werden zwischen Wartbarkeit und Performance - wobei für mich Wartbarkeit zunehmend an Priorität gewinnt. Zumeist ist sowieso nicht der Code sondern der Anwender die Bremse im Prozess.   BMW Oracle Racing's America's Cup: A Victory for Database Technology BMW Oracle Racing's victory in the 33rd America's Cup yacht race in February showcased the crew's extraordinary sailing expertise. But to hear them talk, the real stars weren't actually human. "The story of this race is in the technology," says Ian Burns, design coordinator for BMW Oracle Racing. Gathering and Mining Sailing DataFrom the drag-resistant hull to its 23-story wing sail, the BMW Oracle USA trimaran is a technological marvel. But to learn to sail it well, the crew needed to review enormous amounts of reliable data every time they took the boat for a test run. Burns and his team collected performance data from 250 sensors throughout the trimaran at the rate of 10 times per second. An hour of sailing alone generates 90 million data points.BMW Oracle Racing turned to Oracle Data Mining in Oracle Database 11g to extract maximum value from the data. Burns and his team reviewed and shared raw data with crew members daily using a Web application built in Oracle Application Express (Oracle APEX). "Someone would say, 'Wouldn't it be great if we could look at some new combination of numbers?' We could quickly build an Oracle Application Express application and share the information during the same meeting," says Burns. Analyzing Wind and Other Environmental ConditionsBurns then streamed the data to the Oracle Austin Data Center, where a dedicated team tackled deeper analysis. Because the data was collected in an Oracle Database, the Data Center team could dive straight into the analytics problems without having to do any extract, transform, and load processes or data conversion. And the many advanced data mining algorithms in Oracle Data Mining allowed the analytics team to build vital performance analytics. For example, the technology team could remove masking elements such as environmental conditions to give accurate data on the best mast rotation for certain wind conditions. Without the data mining, Burns says the boat wouldn't have run as fast. "The design of the boat was important, but once you've got it designed, the whole race is down to how the guys can use it," he says. "With Oracle database technology we could compare the incremental improvements in our performance from the first day of sailing to the very last day. With data mining we could check data against the things we saw, and we could find things that weren't otherwise easily observable and findable."

• Can find any /.ecryptfs dir to retrieve my encrypted home dir

  At firs sorry for my english, it isn't my native languaje. I've readed some questions similar but no the exactly whith the same problem. I've moved my home directory to a separated partitión (Ubuntu 11.10) following this tutorial http://www.ubuntu-es.org/node/58233 After checking that they were all my files and folders (forgetting that one of dirs was encrypted by ecryptfs) i've installed fedora 16. Well, suprised when in my home folder was an Readme.txt advising me that my folder was unmounted for security reasons and proposing to type in comand line "ecryptfs-mount-Private" (din't work) or make click on labeled icon "acces your private data desktop" (neither din't work). After three days reading all i could find on the internet, i follow The Dustin Kirkland tutorial in http://blog.dustinkirkland.com/2011/04/introducing-ecryptfs-recover-private.html, but any /.ecryptfs was found. I'm sure that the data are somewere (the size of the moved dir is identical to the original one). Any help would by greatly appreciated. Thaks a lot.

Azonban az Oracle VM tipikusan szerver környezetben használatos virtualizációs technológia, így aki az Oracle VM Virtualbox-ot szeretné használni saját gépén Oracle környezetek kialakítására, azok számára jó hír, hogy Virtualbox esetében is számos kész környezet, image töltheto le. Oracle Database esetén a legfrissebb 11gR2 verzió töltheto így le, mely tartalmazza az In-Memory Database Cache kiegészítést, az SQL Developer-t (Data Modeler-rel együtt), a JDeveloper-t és természetesen az Application Express-t is. Mindezt Oracle Linux-on, de van lehetoség Solaris image, Java, vagy akár SOA & BPM fejlesztoi környezet letöltésére is.

  Ma délelott lezajlott az Oracle Technology Fórum rendezvény. A Database szekcióban Tóth Csaba tartotta a nyitó eloadást, melyben az IT költségek csökkentési lehetoségeirol beszélt Oracle Database 11g felhasználásával. Ot követoen én beszéltem az Oracle Enterprise Manager által kínált extrém menedzsment képességekrol, amely ma már nem csak adatbázis menedzsmentet jelent, hanem a teljes alkalmazás infrastruktúra üzemeltetésre koncentrál, kiemelt figyelmet fordítva az üzlet valós kiszolgálására. Szünet elott még Mosolygó Feri tartott egy eloadást az adatbázis-kezelo és a felho kapcsolatáról, majd szünet után Fekete Zoltán folytatta a Database Machine bemutatásával. Zoli után ismét Mosolygó Feri tartott eloadást ezúttal az adatbázis biztonságról, majd én zártam a napot a kockázatmentes változáskezelés témával.

  Am 6. Mai 2011 findet im MediaPark Köln die dotnet Cologne 2011 statt, die große .NET Community Konferenz in Deutschland. Bereits zum dritten Mal organisieren die .NET User Groups aus Köln und Bonn einen ganzen Tag voll mit Vorträgen rund um .NET. Damit diese Konferenz von Entwicklern für Entwickler wieder ein solcher Erfolg wie im letzten Jahr wird, suchen wir (Stefan Lange, Albert Weinert und ich) noch Sprecher mit interessanten Vorträgen – von der Einführung in neue Themen bis hin zur Level 400 “Hardcore” Session zu etablierten Technologien.   Vor einem Jahr haben wir auf diesem Blog über Oracle an berufsbildenden Schulen berichtet: Ende 2008 wurde unter der Initiative von Knut Harms (OStR an der BBS Haarentor der Stadt Oldenburg) das Projekt oracle@school ins Leben gerufen. Ihm Rahmen dieses Projektes bieten wir interessierten Berufsschulen eine kostenlose Mitgliedschaft im Hochschulprogramm Oracle Academy. Neu hinzugekommen bei oracle@school ist jetzt der Bereich erp@school. Es beinhaltet ein E-Learning System sowie Unterrichtsmaterial für den Unterricht zum Thema ERP-Systeme. Schülerinnen und Schüler erfahren hier in einer "virtuellen ERP-Exkursion" wie ein ERP System arbeitet und simulieren den Prozess der auftragsbezogenen Fertigung am Beispiel. Für die Simulationsumgebung wurde der Geschäftsprozess "Auftragsbezogene Fertigung" in der Oracle E-Business Suite mit der Oracle User Productivity Kit (UPK) aufgezeichnet.

• Connecting 2 ubuntu machines as a LAN

  Hi i am trying to connect 2 ubuntu computers as a LAN. In my current setup I have: One machine running ubuntu 11.10 with Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller While the other machine is running Ubuntu 12.04 with an Atheros Communications Inc AR8152 v1.1 Fast Ethernet The two machines are connected via a switch (Edimax ES-3205P). Unfortunately I still cannot connect the two machines together. Can somebody please show me what to do and how to go about solving this issue? Thank you ANSWERED All I had to do was set up both ip's maually, subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 and left blank both gateway and DNS.
