  • Run Google-apps-script on Google-Spreadsheet event?

    - by jdk
If I create a Google apps script, can I hook it up to Google spreadsheet to run based on an event, or must I manually invoke it? I don't know if Google spreadsheet supports any events. For example: a Google app script that strikes out rows in the spreadsheet that have been marked completed by way of a column having the digit 1 beside completed rows. I would like this to run whenever a row is modified, or even when the spreadsheet is first loaded.

  • How can I insert or remove bytes from the middle of a large file in .NET

    - by Eric
Is it possible to efficiently insert or remove bytes from the middle of a large file, and if so how? Or am I stuck rewriting the entire file after the point where the data was inserted or removed? [A lot of Bytes][Unwanted Bytes][A lot of Bytes] - > [A lot of Bytes][A lot of Bytes] or [A lot of Bytes][A lot of Bytes] - > [A loto f Bytes][New Inserted Bytes][A lot of Bytes]

  • Web Apps for Source Code Discussion

    - by Wilco
Are there any web apps that allow for source code collaboration? I'm thinking of something that could look at an SVN repo/local folder/etc. and publish the code with support for threaded discussions under each file or class. Ideally I want to find something that I could deploy/host myself, so being based in PHP would be a huge plus.

  • Django - testing using large tables of static data

    - by Michael B
I am using "manage.py test" along with a JSON fixture I created using using 'dumpdata' My problem is that several of the tables in the fixture are very large (for example one containing the names of all cities in the US) which makes running a test incredibly slow. Seeing as several of these tables are never modified by the program (eg - the city names will never need to be modified), it doesn't make much sense to create and tear down these tables for every test run. Is there a better way to be testing this code using this kind of data?

  • Mercurial hook to disallow committing large binary files

    - by hekevintran
I want to have a Mercurial hook that will run before committing a transaction that will abort the transaction if a binary file being committed is greater than 1 megabyte. I found the following code which works fine except for one problem. If my changeset involves removing a file, this hook will throw an exception. The hook (I'm using pretxncommit = python:checksize.newbinsize): from mercurial import context, util from mercurial.i18n import _ import mercurial.node as dpynode '''hooks to forbid adding binary file over a given size Ensure the PYTHONPATH is pointing where hg_checksize.py is and setup your repo .hg/hgrc like this: [hooks] pretxncommit = python:checksize.newbinsize pretxnchangegroup = python:checksize.newbinsize preoutgoing = python:checksize.nopull [limits] maxnewbinsize = 10240 ''' def newbinsize(ui, repo, node=None, **kwargs): '''forbid to add binary files over a given size''' forbid = False # default limit is 10 MB limit = int(ui.config('limits', 'maxnewbinsize', 10000000)) tip = context.changectx(repo, 'tip').rev() ctx = context.changectx(repo, node) for rev in range(ctx.rev(), tip+1): ctx = context.changectx(repo, rev) print ctx.files() for f in ctx.files(): fctx = ctx.filectx(f) filecontent = fctx.data() # check only for new files if not fctx.parents(): if len(filecontent) > limit and util.binary(filecontent): msg = 'new binary file %s of %s is too large: %ld > %ld\n' hname = dpynode.short(ctx.node()) ui.write(_(msg) % (f, hname, len(filecontent), limit)) forbid = True return forbid The exception: $ hg commit -m 'commit message' error: pretxncommit hook raised an exception: apps/helpers/templatetags/include_extends.py@bced6272d8f4: not found in manifest transaction abort! rollback completed abort: apps/helpers/templatetags/include_extends.py@bced6272d8f4: not found in manifest! I'm not familiar with writing Mercurial hooks, so I'm pretty confused about what's going on. Why does the hook care that a file was removed if hg already knows about it? Is there a way to fix this hook so that it works all the time? Update (solved): I modified the hook to filter out files that were removed in the changeset. def newbinsize(ui, repo, node=None, **kwargs): '''forbid to add binary files over a given size''' forbid = False # default limit is 10 MB limit = int(ui.config('limits', 'maxnewbinsize', 10000000)) ctx = repo[node] for rev in xrange(ctx.rev(), len(repo)): ctx = context.changectx(repo, rev) # do not check the size of files that have been removed # files that have been removed do not have filecontexts # to test for whether a file was removed, test for the existence of a filecontext filecontexts = list(ctx) def file_was_removed(f): """Returns True if the file was removed""" if f not in filecontexts: return True else: return False for f in itertools.ifilterfalse(file_was_removed, ctx.files()): fctx = ctx.filectx(f) filecontent = fctx.data() # check only for new files if not fctx.parents(): if len(filecontent) > limit and util.binary(filecontent): msg = 'new binary file %s of %s is too large: %ld > %ld\n' hname = dpynode.short(ctx.node()) ui.write(_(msg) % (f, hname, len(filecontent), limit)) forbid = True return forbid

  • remote desktop client with panning of large desktops?

    - by mikewse
When using the standard Windows remote desktop client to connect to a large remote desktop, the result is usually that the remote desktop is resized to a smaller size matching the local display. Are there any RDP clients that instead leave the remote desktop at its original size and pan this larger area when the mouse reaches the border edges of the local display? Thanks Mike

  • Will Windows Mobile 7 Support Multitasking third party apps

    - by Christopher Edwards
Obviously it's early days, I do not know whether this is information that is in the public domain or not yet, but... I have trawled through some of this site - http://www.windowsphone7series.com/ but I can't seem to find the answer. Specifically will I be able to write an app on the phone that updates the cloud with the phones current GPS position in the background even when other apps are running in the foreground.

  • NoHostAvailableException With Cassandra & DataStax Java Driver If Large ResultSet

    - by hughj
The setup: 2-node Cassandra 1.2.6 cluster replicas=2 very large CQL3 table with no secondary index Rowkey is a UUID.randomUUID().toString() read consistency set to ONE Using DataStax java driver 1.0 The request: Attempting to do a table scan by "SELECT some-col from schema.table LIMIT nnn;" The fail: Once I go beyond a certain nnn LIMIT, I start to get NoHostAvailableExceptions from the driver. It reads like this: com.datastax.driver.core.exceptions.NoHostAvailableException: All host(s) tried for query failed (tried: /10.181.13.239 ([/10.181.13.239] Unexpected exception triggered)) at com.datastax.driver.core.exceptions.NoHostAvailableException.copy(NoHostAvailableException.java:64) at com.datastax.driver.core.ResultSetFuture.extractCauseFromExecutionException(ResultSetFuture.java:214) at com.datastax.driver.core.ResultSetFuture.getUninterruptibly(ResultSetFuture.java:169) at com.jpmc.es.rtm.storage.impl.EventExtract.main(EventExtract.java:36) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:57) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:43) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:601) at com.intellij.rt.execution.application.AppMain.main(AppMain.java:120) Caused by: com.datastax.driver.core.exceptions.NoHostAvailableException: All host(s) tried for query failed (tried: /10.181.13.239 ([/10.181.13.239] Unexpected exception triggered)) at com.datastax.driver.core.RequestHandler.sendRequest(RequestHandler.java:98) at com.datastax.driver.core.RequestHandler$1.run(RequestHandler.java:165) at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.runWorker(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:1110) at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:603) Given: This is probably not the most enlightened thing to do to a large table with millions of rows, but this is how I learn what not to do, so I would really appreciate someone who could volunteer how this kind of error can be debugged. For example, when this happens, there are no indications that the nodes in the cluster ever had an issue with the request (there is nothing in the logs on either node that indicate any timeout or failure). Also, I enabled the trace on the driver, which gives you some nice autotrace (ala Oracle) info as long as the query succeeds. But in this case, the driver blows a NoHostAvailableException and no ExecutionInfo is available, so tracing has not provided any benefit in this case. I also find it interesting that this does not seem to be recorded as a timeout (my JMX consoles tell me no timeouts have occurred). So, I am left not understanding WHERE the failure is actually occurring. I am left with the idea that it is the driver that is having a problem, but I don't know how to debug it (and I would really like to). I have read several posts from folks that state that query'g for resultSets 10000 rows is probably not a good idea, and I am willing to accept this, but I would like to understand what is causing the exception and where the exception is happening. FWIW, I also tried bumping the timeout properties in the cassandra.yaml, but this made no difference whatsoever. I welcome any suggestions, anecdotes, insults, or monetary contributions for my registration in the house of moron-developers. Regards!!

  • Sharing elements between Android apps, a question of best practices

    - by Emanuil
Here's a quote from Android's Dev Guide: A central feature of Android is that one application can make use of elements of other applications (provided those applications permit it). For example, if your application needs to display a scrolling list of images and another application has developed a suitable scroller and made it available to others, you can call upon that scroller to do the work, rather than develop your own. Isn't it a bad practice to make an app dependent on other apps?

  • Algorithm for dividing very large numbers

    - by pocoa
I need to write an algorithm(I cannot use any 3rd party library, because this is an assignment) to divide(integer division, floating parts are not important) very large numbers like 100 - 1000 digits. I found http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourier_division algorithm but I don't know if it's the right way to go. Do you have any suggestions?

  • Comparing two large sets of attributes

    - by andyashton
Suppose you have a Django view that has two functions: The first function renders some XML using a XSLT stylesheet and produces a div with 1000 subelements like this: <div id="myText"> <p id="p1"><a class="note-p1" href="#" style="display:none" target="bot">?</a></strong>Lorem ipsum</p> <p id="p2"><a class="note-p2" href="#" style="display:none" target="bot">?</a></strong>Foo bar</p> <p id="p3"><a class="note-p3" href="#" style="display:none" target="bot">?</a></strong>Chocolate peanut butter</p> (etc for 1000 lines) <p id="p1000"><a class="note-p1000" href="#" style="display:none" target="bot">?</a></strong>Go Yankees!</p> </div> The second function renders another XML document using another stylesheet to produce a div like this: <div id="myNotes"> <p id="n1"><cite class="note-p1"><sup>1</sup><span>Trololo</span></cite></p> <p id="n2"><cite class="note-p1"><sup>2</sup><span>Trololo</span></cite></p> <p id="n3"><cite class="note-p2"><sup>3</sup><span>lololo</span></cite></p> (etc for n lines) <p id="n"><cite class="note-p885"><sup>n</sup><span>lololo</span></cite></p> </div> I need to see which elements in #myText have classes that match elements in #myNotes, and display them. I can do this using the following jQuery: $('#myText').find('a').each(function() { var $anchor = $(this); $('#myNotes').find('cite').each(function() { if($(this).attr('class') == $anchor.attr('class')) { $anchor.show(); }); }); However this is incredibly slow and inefficient for a large number of comparisons. What is the fastest/most efficient way to do this - is there a jQuery/js method that is reasonable for a large number of items? Or do I need to reengineer the Django code to do the work before passing it to the template?

  • Large margin by long title

    - by Kevin Koenen
    I try to show a list of offers. When an advertiser insert a large title, the margin of an item (offer) will be showed what shouldn't. I've tried different layouts but that doesn't work. Here's the code: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/gallerylayout" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:gravity="left|center" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:paddingBottom="2dp" android:paddingTop="2dp" android:paddingLeft="5dp" android:background="#20000000" android:cacheColorHint="#00000000"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/ad_image_small" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_marginRight="6dip" android:src="@drawable/ic_launcher"/> <LinearLayout android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="0dip" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <TextView android:id="@+id/ad_id" android:visibility="gone" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/ad_img_url" android:visibility="gone" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content"/> <LinearLayout android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView android:id="@+id/ad_title" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:padding="3dp" android:gravity="left" android:textColor="#000000" android:ellipsize="end" android:singleLine="true"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/ad_km" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_margin="3dp" android:layout_marginBottom="1dp" android:textColor="#000000" android:gravity="right"/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView android:id="@+id/ad_text" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginLeft="3dp" android:textColor="#0099CC" android:ellipsize="end" android:singleLine="true"/> </LinearLayout> <LinearLayout android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_margin="2dp" android:padding="5dp"> <ImageView android:id="@+id/ad_clock" android:layout_width="20dp" android:layout_height="20dp" android:layout_marginRight="5dip" android:src="@drawable/icon_clock"/> <ProgressBar android:id="@+id/progressbar" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="8dp" android:layout_margin="5dp" android:paddingLeft="2dp" android:max="100" style="?android:attr/progressBarStyleHorizontal" android:progressDrawable="@drawable/color_progressbar" /> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> </LinearLayout> <ImageView android:id="@+id/overlay_image" android:background="#0000" android:src="@drawable/verlopen2x" android:layout_alignTop="@id/ad_image_small" android:layout_alignBottom="@id/ad_image_small" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:adjustViewBounds="true" android:visibility="visible" /> I can't see what i'm doing wrong. • Find package name for Android apps to use Intent to launch Market app

    - by eom
I'm creating a mobile website that will include a page from which people can download relevant apps that we recommend. I've found good instructions for creating the links to launch the Market but this assumes that you are the developer of the app in question and know the exact package name. Is there any way to get the package name, other than just contacting the developers and asking? For the iPhone, I found easy instructions for getting the URL I need from the iTunes store, so I'm looking for info like that.
