    Are there any web apps that allow for source code collaboration? I'm thinking of something that could look at an SVN repo/local folder/etc. and publish the code with support for threaded discussions under each file or class. Ideally I want to find something that I could deploy/host myself, so being based in PHP would be a huge plus.

  • Generic tree implementation in Java

    Is anyone aware of a generic tree (nodes may have multiple children) implementation for Java? It should come from a well trusted source and must be fully tested. It just doesn't seem right implementing it myself. Almost reminds me of my university years when we were supposed to write all our collections ourselves.   • iPhone: Set the title of a UIButton with a single method invocation?

    I'd like to set the title of a UIButton via code. I find myself having to call -[UIButton setTitle:forState:] for UIControlStateNormal, UIControlStateHighlighted, UIControlStateDisabled, UIControlStateSelected. And that doesn't even take into account all of the combinations of these states together. Needless to say, this is tiresome. Is there a single call I can make that will set one string as the title for all of the states? (Since, I assume that in 95% of the cases, that's the desired behavior?)

    How would you invert a stack, without using extra data structures, like a second, or temporary, stack. Thus no stack1-stack2 or stack-queue-stack implementation in the answer. You just have access to push/pop feature of a standard stack. I think there is way to do it by keeping a global counter and using pointer manipulation. If I solve it myself, I will post it. If someone else figures it out, please post your solution.

    Ok, I have a flowchart definition (basically, array of nodes and edges for each node). Now I want to calculate coordinates for every task in the flow, preferably hierarchycal style. I need something like Graph::Easy::Layout but I have no idea how to get nodes coordinates: I render nodes myself and I only want to retrieve box coordinates/size. Any suggestions? What I need is a cpan module avialable even in Debian repository.

  • trying to build Boost MPI, but the lib files are not created. What's going on?

    I am trying to run a program with Boost MPI, but the thing is I don't have the .lib. So I try to create one by following the instruction at http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_43_0/doc/html/mpi/getting_started.html#mpi.config The instruction says "For many users using LAM/MPI, MPICH, or OpenMPI, configuration is almost automatic", I got myself OpenMPI in C:\, but I didn't do anything more with it. Do we need to do anything with it? Beside that, another statement from the instruction: "If you don't already have a file user-config.jam in your home directory, copy tools/build/v2/user-config.jam there." Well, I simply do what it says. I got myself "user-config.jam" in C:\boost_1_43_0 along with "using mpi ;" into the file.   • Run context.drawWindow method through a bookmarklet

    I want to capture a webpage as an image. I am able to do this using a firefox extension using context.drawWindow method. Now I want to strech myself and see if I can do this using a bookmarklet :) I remember reading somewhere that context.drawWindow() works only from the firefox toolbars.   • Could MacRuby / HotCocoa supplant the need to know Objective-C?

    I just discovered MacRuby / HotCocoa and really like the sound of what they're doing. I had essentially discounted the prospect of making Cocoa GUI applications myself because I have an aversion to spending time & effort learning yet another C-based language, Objective-C. I'm not saying it's bad, just not for me. Is it the case now, or in the probable future, that one will be able to make Cocoa GUI applications of substantial and first-class nature with MacRuby / HotCocoa alone while ignoring Objective-C completely?

For instance, say I want a random number between 1-5, with the probability being: 1: Comes up 20% of the time 2: Comes up 10% of the time 3: Comes up 40% of the time 4: Comes up 25% of the time 5: Comes up 5% of the time Is there anything in the standard library, or other libraries out there that would do this?   • WCF XmlSerializer assembly not speeding up first request

    I am generating proxy classes to a clients java webservice wsdls and xsd files with svcutil. The first call made to each service proxy class takes a very long time. I was hoping to speed this up by generating the XmlSerializers assembly myself (based on the article How to: Improve the Startup Time of WCF Client Applications using the XmlSerializer), but when I do the first call to each service still takes the same amount of time. Here are the steps I am following: //generate strong name key file sn -k Blah.snk //generate the proxy class file svcutil blah.wsdl blah2.wsdl blah3.wsdl ... base.xsd blah.xsd ... /UseSerializerForFaults /ser:XmlSerializer /n:*,SomeNamespace /out:Blah.cs //compile the class into an assembly signing it with the strong name key file csc /target:library /keyfile:Blah.snk /out:Blah.dll Blah.cs //generate the XmlSerializer code this will give us Blah.XmlSerializers.dll.cs svcutil /t:xmlSerializer Blah.dll //compile the xmlserializer code into its own dll using the same key to sign it and referencing the original dll csc /target:library /keyfile:Blah.snk /out:Blah.XmlSerializers.dll Blah.XmlSerializers.dll.cs /r:Blah.dll I then create a standard Console application that references both Blah.dll and Blah.XmlSerializers.dll. I will then try something like: //BlahProxy is one of the generated service proxy classes BlahProxy p = new BlahProxy(); //this call takes 30ish seconds p.SomeMethod(); BlahProxy p2 = new BlahProxy(); //this call takes < 1 second p2.SomeMethod(); //BlahProx2y is one of the generated service proxy classes BlahProxy2 p3 = new BlahProxy2(); //this call takes 30ish seconds p3.SomeMethod(); BlahProxy2 p4 = new BlahProxy2(); //this call takes < 1 second p4.SomeMethod(); I know that the problem is not server side because I don't see the request made in Fiddler until around 29 seconds. Subsequent calls to each service take < 1 second, so thats why I was hoping the main slow down was the .net runtime generating the xmlserializer code itself, compiling it and loading the assembly. I figured this would be the reason the first call to each service is slow and the rest are fast. Unfortunatley, me generating the code myself is not speeding anything up. Does anyone see what I am doing wrong?
