Seeing the great breadth of large and small devices and the number of manufacturers along with the software vision for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 was inspiring.   Simple one: Want to add a LibraryContainer to a Surface ScatterView. Know I have to add the container inside a ScatterViewItem to get the rotate/move features.. but the SVI adds a rectangle box around the control, and it does not size correctly. Think I'm missing something simple but can't figure it... My current XAML is as follows: Background="{StaticResource WindowBackground}" AllowDrop="True" . . . Any thoughts are appreciated... I've been looking at the how-to samples but the library controls that are shown are static item. (ie they are not movable)... Rob

• How do I draw a texture-mapped triangle in MATLAB?

  I have a triangle in (u,v) coordinates in an image. I would like to draw this triangle at 3D coordinates (X,Y,Z) texture-mapped with the triangle in the image. Here, u,v,X,Y,Z are all vectors with three elements representing the three corners of the triangle. I have a very ugly, slow and unsatisfactory solution in which I (1) extract a rectangular part of the image, (2) transform it to 3D space with the transformation defined by the three points, (3) draw it with surface, and (4) finally masking out everything that is not part of the triangle with AlphaData. Surely there must be an easier way of doing this?

  I am developing a program for Surface using Expression Blend and Visual Studio. I have a custom user control with an ellipse and a label in a grid. This will need to be placed in a scatterViewItem. My problem is that the scatterviewitem will cast a rectangle shaped shadow under the ellipse shaped content. I can disable the shadow completely, but is there any way to make the shadow inherit the shape from its parent? Or can i set the shape of the scatterviewItem itself in any way?

  Hi, while trying to use the "InfoStrat"-Bing-Maps-Control in Expression Blend 4 for my Surface Application, I get the error message: "Mixed mode assembly is built against version v2.0.50527 of the runtime and cannot be loaded in the 4.0 runtime without additional configuration information" I already found out that I need to write this configfile: <configuration> <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true"> <supportedRuntime version="v4.0"/> </startup> </configuration> But Expression Blend doesn't seem to recognize that it is there. So how can I solve this problem?

• Adding a textblock to a custom wpf control (piepiece control from codeplex)

  Hi Stackoverflow! I'm currently building a Surface application where the main navigation is a circular menu. For each menu item I'm using a custom control that I found on codeproject.com: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WPF/PieChartDataBinding.aspx (PiePiece control) The number of submenu items (which is also piepiece controls) comes from a database and thus dynamically loaded. What I can't figure out is how I add a textblock to this custom control to display the submenu item text. It needs to follow the PiePiece's RotationAngle property to line up correctly. Anyone got a hot-fix for this? I was thinking about adding another dependencyproperty to the piepiece custom control, but that way I can't set the font-family, size etc (can I?) Any input on this is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  Hi all, I'm developing a microsoft surface application using expression blend+vs 2008. I have a RichTextBox that loads formatted text from an .rtf file. The text is formatted with uppecases, color, and specific font (helvetica-neue). I feel like Registry Mechanic is a good software--it was recommended to me at #computerhelp on irc.undernet.org, a long time ago, by an op that never steered me wrong, otherwise--, so I feel like I should give the issue due attention. • How to install/upgrade to Windows 8.1 RTM without a Microsoft account

  When I installed Windows 8, I deliberately chose not to use a Microsoft account to sign in. I like to keep things separate, and just logon with a tradional local account. Any apps that require me to sign-in with my Live account, will have to prompt me to sign-in. Now, I just updated to 8.1, but towards the end of the setup process, I was asked to sign-in with a Microsoft account or create one. Unlike when installation Windows 8, there didn't seem to be any option to skip that step, or otherwise close the sign-in prompt and continue to my updated Windows installation. At least not that I could find. This is particular annyoing, when setting up computers for friends and family, whom I support. They may not have, or have any interest in getting, a Microsoft account and I'm reluctant to use my own. I realize I can disconnect my Microsoft account after the fact, but is there really no way to install, or upgrade to, Windows 8.1, without being forced to create a Microsoft account? If there is, how does one go a about that?
