Domain held at one registry, need to redirect to subdomain on my own hosting provider

Hi, There are lots of questions around this general area, but I haven't seen one that exactly mirrors what I'd like to know. It's per the title really. My understanding (and what I'm told by my host) is the easiest thing is just to get the transfer key and bring the DNS across to my own hosting provider. Also I'm told by my host this doesn't affect the client's ownership of the domain itself. Basically, I have a subdomain setup with the site (this has the same IP address as the top level domain). So presumably just giving the other registrar that IP address will only refer it only to the TLD rather than the subdomain. What's the easiest way to achieve this? It's an asp.net site, I don't have a hosted directory on the client's account where I can code a redirect. Thanks all Mark

Only one resolution available in Xorg.conf

I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 12.10 and when I try to change my resolution in NVIDIA X server settings, I only get the native one (1600x900). When I had 12.04 installed, all resolutions were available in the drop down list. My goal is to have twinview working again. I used to set my two screens to twinview and clones, using my HDTV resolution (1360x768) which was previously available in 12.04 for my laptop screen too. In 12.10, I tried to install all of the NVIDIA drivers available except the nouveau driver. I tried to add a new mode using Xrandr --newmode / --addmode, but it didn't work; it coudn't detect my output. I'd like to know if this is a known bug and if there's something to do with that. Huge surge in direct traffic from one particular town

Last month I noticed that the direct visits on our site have increased by nearly 150% whilst bounce rate is also considerably up. After drilling down further I can see that we have had nearly 2000 direct visits from one town in Connecticut called Stamford, with a bounce rate of 100%! I have been scratching around for answers but I can only find that it may be to do with our uptime monitoring tool; Pingdom. Does anyone know/have any experience with this kind of issue, any help is appreciated I have just noticed that we are receiving identical traffic in a town in England and a town in Scotland... This definitely makes me think it's to do with our uptime monitoring tool.

Internal mic not working on Aspire One D255

I can't get my internal mic to work with any app other than Sound Recorder. I've scoured the other posts on this topic and none seem to have an answer. I've installed Alsa Mixer, Pulse Audio controls, tried minimising one of the stereo channels but nothing works. The mic is not muted. There is no function key on the keyboard to mute the mic either. The only connector options are analogue mic or analgue input. Neither do anything.

Subversion BI experience - not a very good one, but working now

Suffice to say there is now a document in place and I'm the drill sergeant, harassing people to do proper check in, and throw out those who don't.Some people suggest that in a SSIS project, it doesn't really matter if developers don't have the latest version of the project since package check in put the package in the repository, which we can pull out later. I beg to differ because:When people don't see the package, they might start creating one because their user story require the use of the table. So they will proceed to create a package and override whatever might already be in the repository.I didn't really see anywhere in the repository to say that which packages were for "deletion". So I ended up restoring them all, and send the list out to developers. Then we get into the area where we are relying on people's memory.I'd love to hear other people's experience using Subversion to manage a BI project.

dual boot, Sony Viao, all in one portable desktop, not working and crashes

I am a fan of Ubuntu but ever since I bought my new computers, both Sony Vaio, I can't get them running together with windows 8.1. When I try wubi, it doesn't show the install box, but some other information box. If I remove wubi from the iso and run it as admin on my desktop, it runs and installs but after rebooting, grub never comes up and it gives the error screen.. On my laptop, I had to make a usb install and partition everything myself and that worked for my laptop, for a little while. Windows boot loader would override and grub wouldn't come up no more, unless I try to boot from usb, with no usb in, and after it reboots because there is no usb, now grub opens, but doesn't cont. That is what happens with my Sony 2 in 1 laptop. My all in one portable just wont boot it period. Bios is the problem but I disabled everything that was necessary. Help

Create many similar classes, or just one

The goal is to create an application that has objects that can represent some operations (add, subtract, etc). All of those objects will have common functions and members, and thus will either implement an interface or inherit from an abstract class (Which would be better practice, this will be in C# if that matters?). As far as I can see, there are two different ways of organizing all of these classes. I could create an addition class, a subtraction class, etc. This has the upside of being highly modular but the difference between classes is so minimal. I could create one class, and have a member that will say what type of operation is being represented. This means lots of switch statements, and losing some modularity, in addition to being harder to maintain. Which is is better practice? Is there a better way of doing that is not listed above? If it matters, the list of functions that should be supported is long.

He is always over confident in what he is doing, but most of the time he does not think things through. When I suggest that he does something else or ask him what he is doing, he will not answer but tells me to do as he says. I always end up being the person who cleans up his mess. Unwittingly activate wrong wireless driver and now cannot activate the correct one

I just installed Kubuntu 10.10 on my MacBook 3,1 and found no wireless connection. Using KPackageKit I activated Broadcom b43 because it had already been selected for me. When I subsequently tried to activate Broadcom STA, however, I was returned with an error. After reading Jockey log I removed the wrong driver and reinstalled all drivers so that I can activate the correct one. It hasn't work even though KPackageKit now shows that I have installed: bcmwl-kernel-source bcmwl-modaliases broadcom-sta-common broadcom-sta-source According to the log it appears as if there are conflicts but I don't know how to rectify it. I'm completely new to the platform, just started using Kubuntu 2 days ago. I'll appreciate any advice anyone can give. Thanks.

How to approach multiple page form with just one save option

The screen shot shows the magento product upload page. The left nav allows you to switch to different options for the product. Basically each option in the left nav appears as a different page. However when you save and close, it will save all the updates made on each page. Using Foundation4, html, css, js - what would be the best approach to replicating something similar? Say I want 3 pages and one save button option. Using http://foundation.zurb.com/docs/components/section.html#panel2 and having the save buttons the top line form level seems a possible option.

Returning multiple results from one row [migrated]

What's the best way to achieve this? Using PHP is a possibility, but I wanted to avoid doing this because I will need to to take pagination into account, etc. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Ubuntu One slow download sync speed

I am having problems syncing my Ubuntu One files with my Ubuntu 12.04 fresh installation. Everything went well during the setup phase. Now, I am trying to sync back in my folders in my U1 account and the transfer speed is extremely slow. I am averaging a 15kb/s transfer speed. I tried uninstalling ubuntuone-client and reinstalling it. It did not fixed the problem. Right now U1 is stuck downloading a 50mb file. It is taking forever. Any ideas? Multiple Passwords on One Account

I'd like to join three ideas into one interesting and sometimes useful feature. There was a question about using multiple passwords earlier this year, but it didn't receive much attention. I'd like to ask the question again after showing an interesting and new way to use the feature. Dual display setup - only one displayed after logon

During boot process my desktop shows both Monitors, but after log I only get one. I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 When I go into Displays its still only shows on Monitor. I have a page which contains several divs (each with a unique ID and the same class, 'parent'). Underneath each "parent" div, is a div with class "child" and unique ID name -child. This DIV is upon page load empty. Facebook AS3 API publishPost() problem

I'm trying to finish a facebook app using the AS3 API. Im having trouble when using the publishPost (message, attachment, action_links, target_id, uid) function. I can get it to post on the user's wall setting the uid=user.uid BUT I can't make it post on the user's friends wall! Setting the target_id=friend.uid isnt working for me I've also tried uid=friend.uid / target_id=friend.uid, uid=friend.uid/ I have granted ExtendedPermission(ExtendedPermissionValues.PUBLISH_STREAM) as in the documentation. I repeat: I can make it post on the current user´s wall but not on its friends'. Can someone help me with this?

FileDialog DoubleClick Behavior

While developing a WinForms application, I came across what I believe is a bug in the OpenFileDialog and SaveFileDialog controls. A Google search turned up a single other person who noticed the same issue, but neither a solution nor a workaround was provided. You can view this thread at: http://bytes.com/topic/visual-basic-net/answers/389470-open-file-dialog-picturebox-click-event. I have a custom control on my form that handles the MouseDown event. If I doubleclick a file in a FileDialog control while the mouse is over this control (with the dialog between them, obviously), the MouseDown event gets triggered. I don't think this is an issue with my control, because the person I mentioned before noticed this happening with a PictureBox control. It would seem that even though the mouse button was pressed down (for the second click to open the file) while on the dialog box, the event passed through to the form and my control when the dialog closed. I have tried disabling my control while the dialog box is active, but that didn't stop it from capturing the event. I assume this is because the event is passed down after the dialog closes, so my control would be re-enabled. Does anyone know of a way to prevent that click from reaching the form and, in turn, my control? Also, can anyone confirm if this really is a bug in the FileDialog controls, or if I just have some setting configured incorrectly?

Setting up a button to trigger both modalPopupExtender and his Click Method

Hey guys, I have this modalPopupExtender, I want it to show a CheckBoxList with some data. I have set up a button to call both the method to fill the CheckBoxes and trigger the modalPopup (TargetControlID). they're all inside an UpdatePanel. with the right triggers. The problem is that when I click the button it shows the modalPopup but doesn't load the method to fill my CheckBoxes... Also, a linkButton inside the poup (linkButtonCheckAll) just closes the popup when clicked.
