  • "main.exe" Has Crashed Error [migrated]

    - by JRuxDev
I have a programming project due today and I am having a simple error. The project is to create a skeleton of a basic menu. The new command just counts from 1 to an integer entered by the user. Before I continue, I have posted a link to the pastebin that holds my .cpp file: http://pastebin.com/pAi9EiEi The rest of the program runs and works. However, the error is simple. It is crashing as soon as I type in any of the commands. After running error checks, I have found the error is not the while but the if statements. The error is on the lines similar to this: if (stricmp(strstr(newCommand, cmd2), newCommand) == 0) What this line is supposed to do, is copy what is in cmd2 and put it in newCommand then comparing it without caps sensitivity to: char newCommand[] = "new"; Thank you, Rux

  • Word 2007 won't run, tries to reinstall, fails with error 1402.

    - by eidylon
Okay, this problem has been plaguing this computer for a while now. We tried googling, and none of the answers found helped to solve the problem. So, I am now posting the answer here for posterity. Office 2007 Home/Student edition was installed on the computer, running Vista (32-bit). One day, Word just up and stopped working. All the other programs continued to operate as expected. But every time you would click the icon for Word, it would pop up an install dialog, with a message reading "Preparing to install...". After a few minutes of the little progress bar going and going, it errors out, and gives error 1402, something to the effect of unable to access registry key HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Classes\.wll\.... Searching around, every answer i found had to do with reassigning the permissions on this key, giving full rights to SYSTEM or to Everyone, and propagating the changes down to all sub-keys. When ever this was attempted though, it would tell us that we were unable to access the key due to permissions, even though we had run regedit as Administrator and are logged on with an administrative account. We also tried uninstalling Office and reinstalling it, as well as doing a repair install. Both these attempts also threw the same 1402 error. Also of note was that the executable for Word (winword.exe) was MIA and no longer to be found in the Office install directory.

  • SQL SERVER – Mirroring Configured Without Domain – The server network address TCP://SQLServerName:50

    - by pinaldave
Regular readers of my blog will be aware of my friend who called me few days ago with very a funny SQL Problem SQL SERVER – SSMS Query Command(s) completed successfully without ANY Results. This time, it did not take long before he called me up with another interesting problem, although the issue he was facing this time was not that interesting and also very specific to him, however, he insisted me to share with all of you. Let us understand his situation at first. My friend is preparing for DBA exam Exam 70-450: PRO: Designing, Optimizing and Maintaining a Database Server Infrastructure using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and for the same, he was trying to set up replication on his local laptop. He had installed two different instances of SQL Server on his computer and every time when he started the mirroring, it failed with common error message. The server network address “TCP://SQLServer:5023? cannot be reached or does not exist. Check the network address name and that the ports for the local and remote endpoints are operational. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 1418) Well, before he contacted me, he searched online and checked my article written on the error in mirroring. However, he tried all the four suggestions, but it did not solve his problem. He called me at a reasonable time of late evening (unlike last time, which was midnight!). I even tried all the seven different suggestions myself, as previously proposed in my article; however, none of them worked. While looking at closely at services, I noticed something very simple. He was running all the instances on ‘Network Services’. In fact, his computer was a stand-alone computer. There was no network at all. Also, there was no domain or any other advance network concepts implemented. I just changed services from ‘Network Services’ to ‘Local System’ as his SQL Server was running on his local system and there were no network services. This prompted to restart the services. As this was not the production server and his development machine, we restarted the services on the laptop (do not restart services on production server without proper planning). After changing the ‘services log on’ account to localsystem, when he attempted to reconfigure the mirroring it worked right away. As usually in production server, proper domains are configured and advance network concepts are implemented I had never faced this type of problem earlier. My friend insisted to post this solution to his situation, wherein there was no domain configured and setting up mirroring was throwing an error. According to him, this is bound to help people, like him, who are preparing for certification using single system. • Issues with timed out downloads via TomCat?

    - by Ira Baxter
We get, in our opinion, a lot of failed download attempts and want to understand why. We offer downloads via an email link (typical): http://www.semanticdesigns.com/deliverEval/<productname> This is processed by Tomcat on Linux via a jsp file, with the following code: response.addHeader( "Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" + fileTail ); response.addHeader( "Content-Type", "application/x-msdos-program" ); byte[] buf = new byte[8192]; int read; try { java.io.FileInputStream input = new java.io.FileInputStream( filename ); java.io.OutputStream o = response.getOutputStream(); while( ( read = input.read( buf, 0, 8192 ) ) != -1 ){ o.write( buf, 0, read ); } o.flush(); } catch( Exception e ){ util.fatalError( request.getRequestURI(), "Error sending file '" + filename + "' to client", e ); throw e; } We get a lot of reported errors (about 50% error rate): URI --- /deliverEval/download.jsp Code Message: Error sending file '/home/sd/ShippingMasters/DMS/Domains/C/GCC3/Tools/TestCoverage/SD_C~GCC3_TestCoverage.1.6.12.exe' to client Stack Trace ----------- null at org.apache.coyote.tomcat5.OutputBuffer.realWriteBytes(byte[], int, int) (Unknown Source) at org.apache.tomcat.util.buf.ByteChunk.append(byte[], int, int) (Unknown Source) at org.apache.coyote.tomcat5.OutputBuffer.writeBytes(byte[], int, int) (Unknown Source) at org.apache.coyote.tomcat5.OutputBuffer.write(byte[], int, int) (Unknown Source) at org.apache.coyote.tomcat5.CoyoteOutputStream.write(byte[], int, int) (Unknown Source) at org.apache.jsp.deliverEval.download_jsp._jspService(javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest, javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse) (Unknown Source) at org.apache.jasper.runtime.HttpJspBase.service(javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest, javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse) (Unknown Source) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(javax.servlet.ServletRequest, javax.servlet.ServletResponse) (Unknown Source) at org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServletWrapper.service(javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest, javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse, boolean) (Unknown Source) at org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServlet.serviceJspFile(javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest, javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse, java.lang.String, java.lang.Throwable, boolean) (Unknown Source) at org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServlet.service(javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest, javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse) (Unknown Source) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(javax.servlet.ServletRequest, javax.servlet.ServletResponse) (Unknown Source) at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.internalDoFilter(javax.servlet.ServletRequest, javax.servlet.ServletResponse) (Unknown Source) at org.apache.catalina.core.ApplicationFilterChain.doFilter(javax.servlet.ServletRequest, javax.servlet.ServletResponse) (Unknown Source) at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardWrapperValve.invoke(org.apache.catalina.Request, org.apache.catalina.Response, org.apache.catalina.ValveContext) (Unknown Source) We don't understand why this rate should be so high. Is there any way to get more information about the cause of the error? It is useful to know that these are pretty big documents, 3-50 megabytes. They reside on the Linux server so reading them is just a local disk read, and is unlikely to be a contributor to the problem. But sheer size might be an issue for the recipients browser? Is this kind of error rate typical for downloads? My personal experience downloading other's documents suggests no; our internal attempts show this to be very reliable, but we're operating on our internal network for such experiments so we're missing the complexity of the intervening internet.

  • android sdk main.out.xml parsing error?

I just started a new Android project, "WeekendStudy" to continue learning Android development and I got stumped compiling the default 'hello weekendstudy' compile / run. Made a new project, added main.cpp and wrote the code at this URL: http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_43_0/doc/html/boost_asio/example/echo/async_tcp_echo_server.cpp Also, added the appropriate include path. What's next?!?!! It seems like a darn mystery to build a boost code! Been digging on it for more than 10 hours. Can anyone give a straightforward answer on how to build the boost library from the code under windows, VC9? God bless you all.

  • wso2 ESB: server configuration CRITICAL

    - by nuvio
My Scenario: I have server_1 (192.168.10.1) with wso2-ESB and server_2 (192.168.10.2) with Glassfish-v3 + web services. Problem: I am trying to create a proxy in ESB using the java Web Services, but the created proxy does not respond properly. The log says: Unable to sendViaPost for http or https does not change the result. I think I should configure the axis2.xml but I am having trouble, and don't know what to do. What is the configuration for my scenario? Please help me! EDIT: To be clear, I can directly consume the WebService in the Glassfish server, it works normal, both port and url are accessible. Only when I create a "Pass through Proxy" in the ESB, it does not work. I don't think is matter of Proxy configuration...I never had problems while deployed locally, problems started once I have uploaded the ESB to a remote server. I really would need someone to point me what is the correct procedure when installing the ESB on a remote host: configuration of axis2.xml and carbon.xml, ports, transport receivers etc... P.S. I had a look at the official (wso2 esb and carbon) guides with no luck, but I am missing something... • Low-Hanging Fruit: Obfuscating non-critical values in JavaScript

    - by Piskvor
I'm making an in-browser game of the type "guess what place/monument/etc. is in this satellite/aerial view", using Google Maps JS API v3. However, I need to protect against cheaters - you have to pass a google.maps.LatLng and a zoom level to the map constructor, which means a cheating user only needs to view source to get to this data. I am already unsetting every value I possibly can without breaking the map (such as center and the manipulation functions like setZoom()), and initializing the map in an anonymous function (so the object is not visible in global namespace). Now, this is of course in-browser, client-side, untrusted JavaScript; I've read much of the obfuscation tag and I'm not trying to make the script bullet-proof (it's just a game, after all). I only need to make the obfuscation reasonably hard against the 1337 Java5kryp7 haxz0rz - "kid sister encryption", as Bruce Schneier puts it. Anything harder than base64 encoding would deter most cheaters by eliminating the lowest-hanging fruit - if the cheater is smart and determined enough to use a JS debugger, he can bypass anything I can do (as I need to pass the value to Google Maps API in plaintext), but that's unlikely to happen on a mass scale (there will also be other, not-code-related ways to prevent cheating). I've tried various minimizers and obfuscators, but those will mostly deal with code - the values are still shown verbatim. TL;DR: I need to obfuscate three values in JavaScript. I'm not looking for bullet-proof armor, just a sneeze-guard. What should I use?
