  Hi, i want to get the domain extention (at least i hope it is called this way) from the site name the user is currently on. so from www.bbc.co.uk it's co.uk and www.google.com = .com http://stackoverflow.com/questions/ask = .com etc. especially the ones with the double name (like co.uk) gives me headaches.... Login: Session["Auth.ClientId"] = clientId; IsAuthenticated: Session["Auth.ClientId"] != null; Logout; Session["Auth.ClientId"] == null; I'm not really using most of the bells and whistles of FormsAuthentication anyway. Is this a bad idea?

I see that StackOverflow ignore FormsAuthentication and instead implemented a different strategy to persist a login cookie. Pros Out of the box implementation for persistent login feature. Cons The login feature depends on the machine key which mean that I need to make sure that the machine key is the same on all the servers in the farm. The cookie contains wired encrypted values that don't really make sense to store in the cookie.

  There are plenty of questions on stackoverflow from people who have attempted to create an array of generics like so: ArrayList<Foo>[] poo = new ArrayList<Foo>[5]; And the answer of course is that the Java specification doesn't allow you to declare an array of generics. My question however is why ? What is the technical reason underlying this restriction in the java language or java vm? It's a technical curiosity I've always wondered about.
