• Postfix how to triggering my script when outgoing email status is sent?

  I want to run a program when postfix has successfully sent out a mail (local or remote). I would like to pass the headers to program and if possible also the destination ip or address (exclude spam filter delivery). I just have an idea: Delivery Status Notification processing via uniqe transport program, but I'd prefer the above. My goal is to be recorded lifetime (events) of email: it came, it went out (from, to, subject, datetime, message id, message status: bounce, sent). I would only need the state of the outgoing mail, because incoming and bounce program is working. It is possible to trigger a program (similar to a transport pipe/spawn) or DSN "cheat" stay?   Whilst creating a site mirror using wget 1.12 on Ubuntu links with a rel attribute set are not downloaded: <a href="link" rel="tag">text</a> Rel="tag" is a microformat (By adding rel="tag" to a hyperlink, a page indicates that the destination of that hyperlink is an author-designated "tag" (or keyword/subject) for the current page). My WordPress theme uses this for link to tags, so 99% of the site is ignored. Edit: it turns out all my permalinks use rel="bookmark" and are skipped as well. • AMD Radeon 7900 series: setting up 3 monitors

  I have an AMD Radeon 7900 series, which should support up to 6 screens. I'm having problems getting my third one working. Im running windows 8, and have installed all the latest AMD drivers. My screens are: Samusng syncmaster S27D391HS Samusng syncmaster S24B350H Samusng syncmaster S24B350H The first 24" monitor I use HDMI to DVI cable. The second 24" I use VGA to DVI cable. Lastly, for the 27" I use HDMI cable. The result is, no matter what I do, I never get more than two screens on simultaneously. I have also tried getting a DisplayPort to HDMI cable to use for the 27", but Im not sure if it was passive or active (didn't say on the box, nor did I ask). So my question is: is an active displayport to HDMI the solution, or is there someting else Im overlooking? (I have read similar posts on this subject, but I use a slightly different combo of cables. That is why I made a post of my own as well)

  I would like to create an SQL Developer connection to a database through a couple of tunnels. The steps right now are: Connect to server A - connect to server B - run sqlplus against tnsname on a server that I do not have ssh access to. Is there an easy way of using SQL Developer instead of sqlplus? I have read through 20 articles on the subject and still have no idea how to actually make the connection. I understand that you can chain ssh -L commands to get the server connection, but I don't know how to use that connection in SQL Developer.

• How to set the IP address in a customized OpenWRT compilation

  I have been struggling today customizing OpenWRT. I checkout the stable using SVN, "make menuconfig" to customize the image, "make" it and run it on a router. Almost all my modifications work, except for the (Seemingly trivial) task of changing the default 192.168.1.1 address. I tried numerous files (scripts as well as config files) but I can't seem to change it (I can change it for a brief moment after boot using the "preinit" file, but after a few seconds it reverts to default). I suspect I should be setting it in the /etc/network file, but modifications there seem to be overwritten during boot. Maybe it has something to do with the br-lan interface? Does anybody have some thoughts on the subject? Thanks!

  How can I parse output of a single command by multiple commands without truncating at each step? For example ls -al|grep -i something will pass every line that has "something" in it to the next pipe which is fine, but that also means every other line in the pipe is discarded since there wont be matching the condition. What I want is to be able to operate on single pipe by many commands independently. In this case it a pipe from Mutt which passes the whole message body. I want to get grep, sed, delete and assign each of these to bash variables maybe. Initially what I want is to be able to assign "message id" to a variable, "subject" to another variable etc Then pass those into proper commands arguments. Here is how it will be MessageBodyFromMutt|grep something -Ax -Bx |grep another thing from the original message| sed some stuff from the original message| cut from here to there Obviously the above line does not do what I want. I want all these commands to operate on the original message body. I hope it makes sense

• Data Archiving vs not

  For the sake of data integrity, is it wiser to archive your files or just leave them unarchived. No compression is being used. My thinking is that if you leave your files unarchived, if there is some form of corruption it will only hurt a smaller number of files. Though if you archive, lets say all of your documents, if there is even the slightest corruption, the entire archive is unrecoverable. So whats the best way to keep a clean file system, but not be subject to data corruption.

  The certificates my Microsoft CA is generating do not match the time period indicated in the template used. How can I resolve this? I recently created a new certificate template for use on my Linux boxes on my Microsoft CA (2008 R2 Enterprise). This template is approved for server and client authentication purposes with a validity period of 10 years - the expected lifetime of our Linux boxes - and the subject name supplied in the request. I have checked both the intermediate and offline CA - both have more than 10 years of life listed. Is there some kind of hard limit I'm hitting here?

• PHP + IIS Application Pool Identity Windows\Temp permissions

  I am currently running PHP (5.3) on IIS 7.5 on a Win2k8 R2 Web Edition Server and would like to know what, if any, problems or security vulnerabilities I may introduct into a system by assigning Read, Write, Modify & Execute permissions to either IUSR account or the IIS_USERS group for %SystemRoot%\Temp? Should I be altering permissions to that folder at all (as Windows reminds me I probably shouldn't when i attempt to change them)? Should I create a temp folder somewhere else and set permissions accordingly? The problem is when i set Anonymous Authentication (I'm guessing is a more secure option???) to use the App Pool identity, when starting sessions PHP gets stuck in a loop because it's unable to create session files in the %SystemRoot%\Temp folder due to lack of permission on the application pool user or IIS_USERS group. Another problem being ImageMagick (PHP Extension) is being denied access to %SystemRoot%\Temp to write temporary files so is throwing exceptions. I have tried searching Google however have not found anything that touches upon this subject specifically. Any help greatly appreciated.

  I've set up mrtg using the online manual and the only online tutorial I found on the subject of thresholds, and the threshold just isn't firing. In my mrtg.cfg file, the relevant lines are ThreshDir: /path/to/mrtg/thresh ThreshMaxI[performance]: 1 ThreshMaxO[performance]: 1 ThreshProgI[performance]: /path/to/mrtg/scripts/alert.php ThreshProgO[performance]: /path/to/mrtg/scripts/alert.php The paths are right, because if I enter the paths wrong I get an error on executing mrtg. websitePerformance checks how long it takes to download the homepage, in milliseconds, so it should be exceeding the max every time. Alert.php is working fine when invoked directly from the shell, and when I point to a nonexistent script it tells me the script is not executable. No error messages are being generated, that I can find. The thresh directory is always empty. Why isn't the threshold being triggered by results that are greater than 1? Anyone have any suggestions?

• Sorting out mSSD acceleration on a Acer M3-581TG

  I recently purchased a Acer Timeline M3 Ultra, it ships with a 500GB HDD and a 20GB mSSD to use as a cache. First thing I did when I got it was format the drives and install a clean OS (on the HDD, the mSSD has nothing on it) - but now I can't figure out how everything needs to be configured in order to use the mSSD as a cache, it just looks like a standard storage drive. I've poked around in the BIOS and there is a SATA mode setting, but it only has one option (AHCI), most of the documentation I've seen on the subject says that the SATA controller needs to be in RAID mode otherwise 'Acceleration' isn't visible in the Intel SRT menu (which for me, it isn't) I've seen a few things that suggest I just need the correct partition layout, I tried this using fdisk from a Linux LiveCD but got nowhere. Any ideas? The laptop shipped with no recovery media so I'm marginally stumped. I don't have any issue with reformatting again if required.

• Video on demand streaming solution

  we are looking into building a commercial vod service and I'm doing research on the subject. We need the video to be protected with DRM so users cant rip/copy (i realise its mostly useless but the lawyers demand it from us) and the server solution to be scalable and able to distrubute content in hd to a high number of clients. Besides, we would need to be able to develop a player integrated with the payment system, so users that havent bought access would for example only see the first 30 seconds of video and then have the playback interrupted, or only be able to watch video for 72h after payment. Also it would be nice if we could distribute video to mobile platforms like android/wp8/ios but thats not a priority at the moment. I have zero experience on that topic so I would greatly appreciate any feedback or giving me stuff to read about like protocols or key phrases i should know. Thanks

• SPF record doesn't work (not sure which DNS server to tweak)

  Problem: Google (and perhaps others) marks our emails as SPF neutral. Let me give you some background about the setup: initially got a dedicated server (Hetzner) with Plesk installed to host a domain/web application, let's say: bigjaws.com. Plesk automatically creates a DNS zone for it with some records for the various services it provides out of the box, e.g. webmail.bigjaws.com as a CNAME to bigjaws.com to provide Horde/whatever, etc. Let me point out four relevant of these records (where XXX.XXX.XXX.158 is our dedicated IP): bigjaws.com. A XXX.XXX.XXX.158 mail.bigjaws.com. A XXX.XXX.XXX.158 bigjaws.com MX (10) mail.bigjaws.com. bigjaws.com. TXT v=spf1 +a +mx -all The above records are not(?) valid anymore though, because after using this dedicated server for a while, our site got bigger and bigger so we decided to move our operations over to AWS (EC2, RDS, ELB, etc), but we retained the mail functionality as is, i.e. emails from [email protected] are sent by connecting to our dedicated server where Plesk takes care of things. This was decided in order not to setup anything from scratch. Of course for all DNS-related things we now use Route53. In Route53 I have the following records: mail.schoox.com. A XXX.XXX.XXX.158 bigjaws.com. MX (10) mail.bigjaws.com bigjaws.com. SPF "v=spf1 +ip4:XXX.XXX.XXX.158 +mx ~all" From my understanding of SPF, the SPF status should have been passed: I designate that all email being sent by bigjaws.com from XXX.XXX.XXX.158 are valid/not spam (I added +mx there but I'm not sure if needed). When a mail server receives an email, doesn't it lookup the SPF record of the domain and checks against the IP it got the email from? Checking with spfquery: root@box:~# spfquery -ip XXX.XXX.XXX.158 -sender [email protected] -rcpt-to [email protected] StartError Context: Failed to query MAIL-FROM ErrorCode: (2) Could not find a valid SPF record Error: No DNS data for 'bigjaws.com'. It is impossible for us to say why it was rejected. What should I do? If the problem persists, contact the bigjaws.com postmaster. • Installing "SoX" via the Terminal

  I'm new to installing applications via the Terminal, so excuse my absolute ignorance on the subject. I want to install SoX ( http://sox.sourceforge.net/ ), so I can do some ninja audio editing. First I installed git, then I installed SoX. I didn't get any error messages and the installation has spawned a sox-folder in my Users/myName-folder. However when I use the program by typing "sox" in the Terminal, nothing happens, all I get is "command not found". Does anybody know how to troubleshoot this?

• SSL Certificates, two-way authentication and loadbalancers

  We're looking to implement two-way authentication with client certificates for a privileged subset of our application users. The idea will be that if a certificate is detected the user will be asked for an additional password/PIN and that will be used to verify the certificate and user. Ordinary users will continue to authenticate themselves via the standard login mechanism. Our production environment (hosted by a well-known company) comprises load-balanced application servers and I'm unclear as to how this set-up will handle the certificates and I'm not certain if there are any pitfalls I should be aware of. • Mail sending program & exchange server

  Hi, I have been asked to send about 6500 e-mails to addresses in a member database. I have written the program, that sends and reports the ones that couldn't send etc. But my concern is that this program will just call smtpclient.Send(); and I don't know what happens if 6000 mails are in the queue. Server is MS Exchange as I have been told. Note: I am planning to send them, say 500 by 500. But what if an exception occurs on the Exchange server at 120... then what happens to the other ones.. I will appreciate little insight to the subject. Thanks in advance.

• Mailman bounces go to me, do not unsubscribe user! (MacOS Server)

  I run a large mailing list (30,000 users). Every month I get a whole slew of bounces in my mailbox from the "mailing list memberships reminder" that get sent out. I thought that these were supposed to go to the program and automatically unsubscribe people, not go to me. We are running a standard unmodified MacOS Server installation. Here is a typical bounce: From: Mail Delivery System Subject: Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender To: [email protected] This is the mail system at host mail.COMPANY.COM. I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below. For further assistance, please send mail to postmaster. If you do so, please include this problem report. You can delete your own text from the attached returned message. The mail system ... Any idea what to do?

• Recommend a mail server setup for multiple domains

  Hi all, I've just set up a new Debian web server which I have done plenty of times before, but I want to add a mail server which I have never done before. I am aware of this question, but I would like someone to recommend packages and briefly explain how to use them for providing pop/imap access on multiple domains, a concept that has confused me for a while. I'm planning for this server to grow slowly but surely, from serving an initial 5 or 6 domains to about 20 in the first year, continuing at this rate. (yes, I've jumped on the cloud bandwaggon). At the moment, I have a DNS-A record pointing to my server's IP and nothing else. I'm assuming that I need a DNS-MX record pointing there too, but I haven't read up about it yet so today that's what I'll be doing. Hopefully reading up on the subject and the help that I get here will get my server up and running in no time. Thanks!
