  I have a powered 7 port hub connected to my Ubuntu box and it does nothing. The devices (zip drive and web cam) work direct, but aren't recognized through the hub. This worked fine in Windows 7. I can't prove it is the OS because this is a new motherboard and processor. Any advice?   Normally I would plug my camera into my Windows XP pc, and the software would auto start, and transfer the files to a set location. I need to be able to perform the same or similar function on my PC installed with Ubuntu 10.04 (LTS). I would like to plug the camera in (USB), and then be able to select the files I want. At the moment, the camera does not seem to recognise the PC. I do not want to rely on the Windows PC anymore.

  We are in the process of having a web designer create a new website for us, but I don't want to give access to the control panel for the domain names (and have no way to limit it, it seems), while at the same time I don't want to be the go between guy for editing the settings. Is there a way or a service for me to point the domains at a 3rd party DNS system, that I can then give access for the web designer, without worrying that he can find my personal info or try and transfer my domain out?

  I have migrated a VS2008 ASP.NET MVC solution to VS2010/MVC2/.NET 4.0 The solution builds locally and all unit tests pass. Our TFS server is still TFS2008 and I am having problems getting the CI build to pass. The projects all build successfully, the unit tests all run and pass but the Running Tests item fails. • Asp.net override Membership settings at runtime (asp.net mvc)

  I had an application that hooked onto 1 single database. The app now needs to hook into multiple databases. What we want to do is, using the same application/domain/hostname/virtual dir give the user the option on the login screen to select the "App/Database" they want to connect into. Each database has the App tables/data/procs/etc as well as the aspnet membership/roles stuff. When the user enters the username/password and selects (select list) the application, I want to validate the user against the selected applications database. Presently the database connection string for membership services is saved in the web.config. Is there any way I can override this at login time? Also, I need the "remember me" function to work smoothly as well. How does this work when the user comes back to the app in 5 hours... This process should be able to identify the user and application and log in appropriately.

  Hi, I've set up a Mercurial server on a Windows 2003 / IIS 6 machine and when I try to pull the repository I get the following sequence requesting all changes adding changesets adding manifests adding file changes transaction abort! rollback completed abort: premature EOF reading chunk (got 91303 bytes, expected 1542634) I've tried pretty much everything I can think of, but with no success. I followed the steps of Jeremy Skinners guide on doing it for IIS7, but on an IIS6 server. I found a post where the author was experiencing the same issue, but was unable to find a solution. So far it looks like the solution is to migrate to Apache or upgrade to Windows 2008/II7 .. but if someone knows how to solve this, please let me know

  I think I may be a bit confused on the syntax of the Moq Callback methods. When I try to do something like this: IFilter filter = new Filter(); List<IFoo> objects = new List<IFoo> { new Foo(), new Foo() }; IQueryable myFilteredFoos = null; mockObject.Setup(m => m.GetByFilter(It.IsAny<IFilter>())).Callback( (IFilter filter) => myFilteredFoos = filter.FilterCollection(objects)).Returns(myFilteredFoos.Cast<IFooBar>()); This throws a exception because myFilteredFoos is null during the Cast<IFooBar>() call. Is this not working as I expect? I would think FilterCollection would be called and then myFilteredFoos would be non-null and allow for the cast. FilterCollection is not capable of returning a null which draws me to the conclusion it is not being called. Also, when I declare myFilteredFoos like this: Queryable myFilteredFoos; The Return call complains that myFilteredFoos may be used before it is initialized.

• DTO or Domain Model Object in the View Layer?

  I know this is probably an age-old question, but what is the better practice? Using a domain model object throughout all layers of your application, and even binding values directly to them on the JSP (I'm using JSF). Or convert a domain model object into a DTO in the DAO or Service layer and send a lightweight DTO to the presentation layer. I have been told it makes no sense to use DTOs because changes to the database will result in changes to all your DTOs whereas using Model Objects everywhere will just require changes to the affected model object. However, the ease of use and the lightweight nature of DTOs seems to outweigh that. I should note that my app uses Hibernate Model Objects AND uses its own custom-created model objects (meaning not bound to any DB session, always detached). Is either of the above scenarios more beneficial to a strict Model Object pattern? Using Hibernate has been a huge PITA with regards to things like Lazy Initialization Exceptions.

When it replaces an existing machine, it needs to set its IP address, DNS, WINS, and host name to match the machine being replaced. • Xcode is not building the Binary

  Hello, Xcode is doing something bizzare which I at one point in time fixed but now for the life of me I can't figure out what's wrong. Xcode is building my project fine - no errors on a clean-all build. All my product names and info.plists agree, all the settings appear to be correct. I've only got the one build configuration (I always delete all of them except when I got to actually release something - waay to many invisible problems with these things). Except that it is not generating binaries for my code. Eh wot? I have recently checked the code out on a new computer, and I checked all the paths and everything exists where it should. any help is appreciated. It is not throwing any errors and neither the binary for the .app nor the .plugin (project.app/Contents/MacOS/THERE IS NOTHING HERE). Thanks!!! -Stephen

  I'm using a self-made DesktopPaneUI for a JDesktopPane, I've written the proper methods for the class, and I'm running into trouble. When I resize the JDesktopPane, the background image doesn't resize with the frame. The image appears to be clipped at the size it was when the window initially opened. I'm giving it an image larger than the window, and I'm still having this problem.
