  • Single nginx configuration for multiple sub domains

    I have the following directory structure for my websites: /var/www/sitename/subdomain/(public|log) e.g /var/www/stackoverflow.com/careers/public/index.html Can I make a single generic nginx configuration to do this? So that every domain is mapped to the right directory? I would not like to edit my nginx configuration for every website I add. The root domain can always be mapped to the www subdomain.

  • Can't get virtual desktops to show up on RDWeb for Server 2012 R2

    I built a test lab using the Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview. The initial test lab has the following configuration (I have replaced our name with "OurCompanyName" because I would like it if Google searches for our name did not cause people to come to this site, please do the same in any responses) Physical hardware running Windows Server 2012 R2 Preview full GUI, acting as Hyper-V host (joined to the test domain as testVwHost.testVw.OurCompanyName.com) with the following VM's running on it VM running 2012 R2 Core acting as domain controller for the forest testVw.OurCompanyName.com (testDC.testVw.OurCompanyName.com) VM running 2012 R2 Core with nothing running on it joined to the test domain as testIIS.testVw.OurCompanyName.com A clean install of Windows 7, all that was done to it was all windows updates where loaded and sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown /mode:vm was run on it A clean install of Windows 8, all that was done to it was all windows updates where loaded and sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown /mode:vm was run on it I then ran "Add Roles and Features" from testVwHost and chose the "Remote Desktop Services Installation", "Standard Deployment", "Virtual machine-based desktop deployment". I choose testIIS for the roles "RD Connection Broker" and "RD Web Access" and testVwHost as "RD Virtualization Host" The Install of the roles went fine, I then went to Remote Desktop Services in server manager and wet to setup Deployment Properties. I set the certificate for all 3 roles to our certificate signed by a CA for *.OurCompanyName.com. I then created a new Virtual Desktop Collection for Windows 7 and Windows 8 and both where created without issue. On the Windows 7 pool I added RemoteApp to launch WordPad, For windows 8 I did not add any RemoteApp programs. Everything now appears to be fine from a setup perspective however if I go to https://testIIS.testVw.OurCompanyName.com/RDWeb and log in as the use Administrator (or any orher user) I don't see the virtual desktops I created nor the RemoteApp publishing of WordPad. I tried adding a licensing server, using testDC as the server but that made no difference. What step did I miss in setting this up that is causing this not to show up on RDWeb? If any additional information is needed pleas let me know. I have tried every possible thing I can think of and I am just groping around in the dark now.   • Exchange Connector Won't Send to External Domains

    I'm a developer trying to get my .Net application to send emails out through our Exchange server. I'm not an Exchange expert so I'll qualify that up front!! We've set up a receive Connector in Exchange that has the following properties: Network: allows all IP addresses via port 25. Authentication: Transport Layer Security and Externally Secured checkboxes are checked. Permission Groups: Anonymous Users and Exchange Servers checkboxes are checked. But, when I run this Powershell statement right on our Exchange server it works when I send to a local domain address but when I try to send to a remote domain it fails. WORKS: C:\Windows\system32Send-Mailmessage -To [email protected] -From [email protected] -Subject testing -Body testing -SmtpServer OURSERVER (BTW: my value for OURSERVER=boxname.domainname.local. This is the same fully-qualified name that shows up in our Exchange Management Shell when I launch it). FAILS: C:\Windows\system32Send-Mailmessage -To [email protected] -From [email protected] -Subject testing -Body testing -SmtpServer OURSERVER Send-MailMessage : Mailbox unavailable.   • Known Hosts ECDSA Host Key Multiple Domains on One IP

    Hello, world!, I have a VPS set up with multiple domain names pointing to it. Arbitrarily, I like to access it via SSH through the domain name I'm dealing with. So for example, if I'm doing something with example1.com, I'll log in with ssh [email protected], and if I'm working with example2.com, I'll log in with ssh [email protected]. They both point to the same user on the same machine. However, because SSH keeps track of the server's fingerprint, it tells me that there is an offending host key, and makes me confirm access. $ ssh [email protected] Warning: the ECDSA host key for 'example2.com' differs from the key for the IP address '123.123.123.123' Offending key for IP in /home/me/.ssh/known_hosts:33 Matching host key in /home/me/.ssh/known_hosts:38 Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? Is there a way to ignore this warning? Thanks!

  • Routing different domains on a VPS

    We just went from shared hosting to a VPS server. We have several domain names that we have pointing to our dns, but they all point to the root of the server. What I would like now is a setup where every domain name gets its own map so we can run different sites on the VPS server. Like: www.example.com points to: /var/www/example.com www.imapwnu.com points to: /var/www/imapwnu.com First of all, is this possible? Second, I have root SSH access and Webmin, on a LAMP server running on Ubuntu. Webmin doesnt have Bind9 (I dont know if I need that, some forums pointed me towards something called bind).   • Questions about Domains and DNS

    Hi, I am totally new to the DNS and server hosting world and not quite sure what I need. I want to get a domain, forward it to my own server, so that the user sees example.com in the url bar and example.com/foo/bar will work. Depending on what subdomain it is, it should do different things (another base-directory at webserver, ftp, etc). Also my email should be able to be sent to and received by that server. What irritates me, is the fact, that in the A-record I can only list IP-addresses and no ports. So do I have to set up a nameserver on my own server? Or do I accomplish this via vhosts on my webserver? I would appreciate any help or link to a tutorial. I know how DNS works, know some basic apache-stuff, etc... so no need to explain that. Thanks

  • Working on a virtual machine as a developer

    In the company I'm currently working in, they decided that each developer will move to a VM desktop (Citrix/WinServer2012) an develop/test from there with restricted/no rights to install new software. The Server we will be working on are in a remote Datacenter. So i.e. if for some reason or another the internet brake down, we can't work till the connection is up again. As a developer I don't want to use windows as OS for my working/development environment as there is no need because we don't develop OS specific software. What good points could I raise in an argumentation against moving to the VMs beside the loss/restriction of freedom and the loss of connection to the internet?

  • Copy files between two windows machines on seperate domains

    I need to copy several database backups between two computers. The source computer initiates the copy and is a Windows 2000 pc and is a member of domain1. The destination machine is running Windows Server 2000 and is a member of domain2. The machines are on separate networks physically connected via a firewall. The files are currently copied via ssh with http://sshwindows.sourceforge.net/ installed on the destination machine. There is no need to encrypt the contents during the copy, however the passwords should not be sent in the clear. I am looking for a way to copy the files without having to install a server on the destination. I specifically need help with how to set up the permissions and what ports would need to be opened on the firewall.

  • Virtual Hard Drive not booting - VMWare

    I have a .vmdk (VMWare hard disk) file that I cannot use as the lone disk in a new virtual machine. If I attach it to an existing virtual machine then it works fine. It has Windows Server 2003 on it. When I attempt to boot the new VM it attempts a network boot. EDIT: VMWare Workstation 6.5 I could not find a PXE option in the settings, and I did look in the VM config file for "PXE" but did not find one.

  • Puppet claims to be unable to resolve domains even if domain properly resolves

    I have a fairly simple puppet setup, one master and one node, both running Debian Squeeze 6.0.4. I have DNS entries for the two machines, client and master respectively. Both client and master's DNS entries resolve correctly on both machines to the right IPs. On my client, I have this configuration: [main] server = master.example.org logdir=/var/log/puppet vardir=/var/lib/puppet ssldir=/var/lib/puppet/ssl rundir=/var/run/puppet factpath=$vardir/lib/facter pluginsync=true templatedir=/var/lib/puppet/templates Key exchange seems to fail, according to this messages in /var/log/syslog: localhost puppet-agent[11364]: Could not request certificate: getaddrinfo: Name or service not known Why is resolution not working only for puppet?

  • How to correctly configure DNS for Icelandic domains and Plesk

    I have a domain registered with ISNIC (domain.is). They only let you set nameservers that pass their requirements. I've been told it's this requirement that I need to fix: Nameserver must be consistently registered in DNS, i.e. its own A resource record must be available and a corresponding PTR resource record as well. I allocated two new IP addresses from my server host and at that point set their PTR records to ns0.domain.is and ns1.domain.is. After that I created two A records for that domain in Plesk, again ns0. and ns2.domain.is with their respective IPs. Next, I went to the ISNIC page to register my nameservers, along with their IP addresses I'd allocated and this worked perfectly for both without error. So the final job was to set the nameservers for the domain via ISNIC's control panel, however when I try, I'm getting this error: Test results for "NS0.DOMAIN.IS": The nameserver ns1.vps123.vpsprovider.com is not consistently registered in DNS (ns1.vps123.vpsprovider.com => 1123.123.123.123 => vps123.vpsprovider.com) The nameserver ns0.vps123.vpsprovider.com is not consistently registered in DNS (ns0.vps123.vpsprovider.com => 1123.123.123.123 => vps123.vpsprovider.com) The nameserver ns0.DOMAIN.IS is missing from the NS record set for DOMAIN.IS Test results for "NS1.DOMAIN.IS": The nameserver ns1.DOMAIN.IS is missing from the NS record set for DOMAIN.IS The nameserver ns0.DOMAIN.IS is missing from the NS record set for DOMAIN.IS This is really at the limits of my DNS knowledge I'm afraid. It feels like I'm close but maybe missing a vital part, linking the nameservers in Plesk or something?

    Hello. I have a dedicated server on 1&1 and I manage it with Plesk. The problem is that if I try to send a mail outside the server, I must to authenticate with the email and the password, but if I send an email to a address inside of my server I don't need neither email or password. This is a problem because the spammers are sending mails without any problem to the server accounts. We are receiving about 900 - 1200 emails everyday! What can I do? I use qmail on CentOS Thanks

  • Static IP Address on Ubuntu 12.04 Virtual Machine

    I've setup a VM running Ubuntu 12.04 specifically for local web development and am having some problems ensuring it has a static IP address. A static IP address is important as I'm using the IP address in my hosts file to assign a .local suffix to addresses used both in browser and to connect to the correct database on the VM. Currently, every time I connect to a new network or my VM is assigned a new IP address I need to reconfigure my whole environment which is becoming quite a pain. It also probably doesn't help that the default-lease-time on the Ubuntu VM is set to 1800 by default. At the moment I'm using VMWare Fusion and the Network Adapter is enabled and set to "Autodetect" under Bridged Networking. I've tried to set a static IP address within the dhcpd.conf using the code below: host ubuntu { hardware ethernet 00:50:56:35:0f:f1; fixed-address: 192.168.100.100; } The fixed-address that I've used is also outside the range specified in the subnet block (which in this case is 192.168.100.128 to 192.168.100.254). I've tried adding and removing the network adapter and restarting my Mac after each time to no avail.   • Postfix block senders outside from local domains

    I would like to block every mail that is coming in from a domain that is running on my server. Example: I have domain1.com on my mail server and I'm getting a mail from outside with an email address of [email protected] Then I know it's a Spam, because domain1.com is on my server, so the sender cannot come from outside. I want postfix to check for this, and simply block these kind of emails. I know this is a function in postfix, just don't know which one. Thanks.
