  • Zend_Cache_Backend_Sqlite vs Zend_Cache_Backend_File

    Hi, Currently i'm using Zend_Cache_Backend_File for caching my project (especially responses from external web services). I was wandering if I could find some benefit in migrating the structure to Zend_Cache_Backend_Sqlite. Possible advantages are: File system is well-ordered (only 1 file in cache folder) Removing expired entries should be quicker (my assumption, since zend wouldn't need to scan internal-metadatas for expiring date of each cache) Possible disadvantages: Finding record to read (with files zend check if file exists based on filename and should be a bit quicker) in term of speed. I've tried to search a bit in internet but it seems that there are not a lot of discussion about the matter. What do you think about it? Thanks in advance.

I know that the portablecontacts gem will retrieve contacts, but does not allow for adding or updating. I was wondering if anyone knew of a gem that will handle this type of interaction. If not what would be the best method to implement a gem that would make it easier to handle the responses.

  • Accessing the DI container from anywhere

    I've implemented the Symfony2 Dependency Injection container in my Zend Framework project and it works fine in the MVC layer of my application. I've initialized the DIC in my bootstrap and can access it anywhere by calling: Zend_Controller_Front::getInstance()->getParam('bootstrap')->getDic() The problem is that there are some parts of my application that do not utilize the Zend Framework application/MVC layer. My CLI tools for example. I could perfectly initialize a new DIC there but that would just be some copy paste work from the Bootstrap file which is asking for trouble down the road (DRY principles, etc) Is it a better solution to make my DIC available in the Zend_Registry or as a singleton called by a static method DIC::getInstance() for example? I know Registry and singletons are considered bad things but the DIC is such a high level part of the application that I will probably never run into the problems that make it a bad thing. Is this a good solution or are there better ways of accomplishing a globally accessible DIC?

    Currently working on a new Zend application and developing the Model. Having worked with Zend_Db_Table before, I opted to replace references in the Model to the Table API with a custom SQL script to take care of data access duties. Now I'm looking at developing a new application/domain model, and I wanted to get some feedback from people re: their experiences with Zend_Db API vs raw SQL, and use cases where it would be preferable to use the API. From a project perspective, the DB platform is unlikely to change from MySQL - so it doesn't need to be particularly abstract - and I assume writing a custom SQL API will be more performant than the assorted classes the Zend DB API requires.

    Ultimately, I'd like my Zend Form to render this HTML: <p>Do you have any documents to upload?</p> <p>Yes <input type="radio" value="Yes" name="uploadChoice" onClick="showTable()">&nbsp;&nbsp;No <input type="radio" value="No" name="uploadChoice" onClick="hideTable()" checked></p> Here's what I have in my Zend_Form: //create radio buttons $uploadQuestion = new Zend_Form_Element_Radio('upLoadQuestion'); $uploadQuestion->setLabel('Do you have any documents to upload?') ->addMultiOptions(array( 'yes' => 'Yes', 'no' => 'No' )) ->setSeparator(' '); The problem I'm running into is how to add the onClick="showTable()" and onClick="hideTable()" elements to their respective radio buttons. In the alternative, I could rework the javascript and add something like onClick="toggleTable()" to the radio buttons if I can't add something different to each of the radio buttons. But, will Zend let me do that?

    I want to view events over specific time range for a specific calendar, but am having trouble using the API, It is a generic API, and it reminds me of using the DOM. The problem is that it seems difficult to work with because much of the information is in generic base classes. How do I get the events for a calendar using Groovy or Java? Does anybody have an example of passing credentials using curl? Example code would be appreciated.

    Creating custom Zend View helpers I often end up with something like: // logic here if ($condition) { $output = <<<EOS... } else { $output = <<<EOS... } or using switch. Then to eliminate this, I create setPartial(), getPartial() and htmlize() for using external .phtml's. This is not the best solution, because partials do not support doctype changing. Is there any better solution, than creating abstract class handling this common case? Are there any ready Zend solutions for this case? Separate view helper for each case? And where to put common code?

  • Google calendar query returns at most 25 entries

    I'm trying to delete all calendar entries from today forward. I run a query then call getEntries() on the query result. getEntries() always returns 25 entries (or less if there are fewer than 25 entries on the calendar). Why aren't all the entries returned? I'm expecting about 80 entries. As a test, I tried running the query, deleting the 25 entries returned, running the query again, deleting again, etc. This works, but there must be a better way. Below is the Java code that only runs the query once. CalendarQuery myQuery = new CalendarQuery(feedUrl); DateFormat dfGoogle = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd'T00:00:00'"); Date dt = Calendar.getInstance().getTime(); myQuery.setMinimumStartTime(DateTime.parseDateTime(dfGoogle.format(dt))); // Make the end time far into the future so we delete everything myQuery.setMaximumStartTime(DateTime.parseDateTime("2099-12-31T23:59:59")); // Execute the query and get the response CalendarEventFeed resultFeed = service.query(myQuery, CalendarEventFeed.class); // !!! I am creating a web application using zend, here i create an interface from where user-A can send email to more than one user(s) & it works excellent but it slow the execution time because of which user-A wait too much for the "acknowledged response" ( which will show after the emails have sent. ) In Java there are "Threads" by which we can perform that task (send emails) & it does not slow the rest application. Is there any technique in PHP/Zend just like in Java by which we can divide our tasks which could take much time eg: sending emails. Thanks..

My client doesn't want to leave any footprints for Google. The only way I found was to set the proxy environment variable beforehand but this seems cumbersome. Is there some way I'm missing?   • Eclipse: Slow startup time

    Hello, I've got Eclipse 3.6.1 on my MacBook Air (2010), and I'm getting slowish startup times. Well, slow, compared to my Desktop, which is somewhat less powerful and a few years old). The startup generally takes 15 seconds, and of this, 4 is spent just on the Eclipse splash screen, before Eclipse loads anything. No projects are open at startup. I'm running Eclipse 3.6.1 Cocoa x64 build (vanilla) with the Zend Studio plugin. The machine has 4GB RAM, an SSD with over 64% free space, 1.6GHz (4MB L2 Cache). OS is Mac OS X 10.6.6, latest Java available, 1.6. For comparison, my Desktop, an old P4 3GHZ (512K L2 Cache) with a 7200RPM drive, under 40% free space, Eclipse (same config) loads in under 7 seconds, consistently. Note, this one is a Windows machine, with latest Java installed.

  • WAMP Installation - Multiple PHP Version Issues

    I have installed WAMP because I am attempting to modify an an application which uses Zend Optimizer (I cannot use Z.O. with PHP5.3+, which is why I decided to install WAMP). I downloaded the latest version - Wamp Server 2.1 - which comes bundled with PHP5.3.5. I then downloaded a PHP version that would be compatible with Z.O. - 5.2.9. - and a compatible Apache version, 2.0.63. My problem: PHP scripts run fine, but anything with MySQL does not work. Running the testmysql.php script returns the fatal error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect() in C:\wamp\www\testmysql.php on line 2". I have looked in the PHP INI files inside both PHP versions, and I'm fairly sure the relevant information is there. At least, there are parts inside that mention MySQL! Perhaps somebody could clarify exactly what information should be present? Also, when visiting a page that called phpinfo(), I noticed that the 'Loaded Configuration File' was pointing to C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.5\php.ini, even though I have enabled the older PHP version. I've stopped and started Apache, too, and that hasn't made a difference. Is anybody able to offer any assistance? Anything at all would be great; I'm not very good at messing around with Apache/

  • Alias for Drupal "Sites" folder with Apache on Windows Server 2008

    I'm having to move a number of sites from a LAMP stack to a WAMP one, provided by Zend, and I've hit a problem. Our architecture is a number of loadbalanced web servers which have their own local webapp drives which are kept in sync with one server performing as the master copy. There is then a separate DFS share provided to all web servers from our pillar san. Usually a Drupal install under our LAMP cluster would have the main Drupal web app in a local HTDOCS mount for each server and the SITES directory within Drupal would then be symlinked out to the DFS or NFS share so that there is a common FILES and TMP directory. The problem I'm having is that there seems to be no equivalent of symlinks on Win Server 2008, shortcuts have a .ink at the end making Apache see them as a distinct file. So I've tried using an alias call in the vhost file like this; <Location /drupal-626/sites> Order deny, allow Allow from all </Location> Alias /drupal-626/sites "Z:\Path to alternate sites directory" The root for this test is; http://main-domain-url/drupal-626/ Unfortunately this isn't work so I'm wondering if any of you have a solution which would work?   • Virtual host Alias not routing properly

    I apologize if this question has been asked many times in the past. I am not 100% sure of the exact cause of my issue and am out of google magic right now. Basically I have a virtual host file setup with an Alias record that points to a different directory other the document root. It basically looks like this <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName iBusinessCentral.com ServerAdmin [email protected] DocumentRoot /var/www/marketingsites/ ServerAlias iBusinessCentral.com *.iBusinessCentral.com Alias /unsub "/var/www/unsub/site_index/" </VirtualHost> When I navigate to ibusinesscentral.com/unsub/?randomquerystring I am directed to the correct folder. If I remove the query string and navigate to ibusinesscentral.com/unsub/ I am taken to the directory in the document root. The unsub directory is a zend application and I need to be able to navigate to different url paths like ibusinesscentral.com/unsub/unenroll?querystring I have tried using AliasMatch instead of Alias. I have also tried adding a slash after the unsub portion of the Alias record, and have not had any luck to this point. Thanks in advance for any assistance

I now wanted to enable https but after the first steps according to the documentation, 'a2enmod ssl' and 'apache service restart', apache does not listen on 443 but neither on 80, according to netstat -tap | grep http(s)!     I'm using the zend modular director structure, i.e. application modules users controllers . . lessons reports blog I have a unit test for a controller in 'blog' that goes something like the below section of code: I'm definitely doing something very wrong, or missing something - as when i run the test, i get no error, no success message (that goes usually like ...OK (2 tests, 2 assertions)). I get all the text from layout.phtml, where i have the global site layout. This is my first endeavor writing a unittest for zend-M-V-C structure so probably I'm missing something important?
