• Are there HP Infinihost III ex drivers for windows available?

  I picked up some infiniband cards off ebay for development/testing purposes. I was hoping that there would be some drivers available under windows 7, but it doesn't seem to be recognised by the OFED software which would seem to contain windows drivers. They are however immediately picked up by Ubuntu and drivers are loaded. Are these cards supported under windows 7 at all? mstflint under linux reports: Image type: Failsafe FW Version: 4.8.930 I.S. • Pasted image hides behind text even when set to be inline

  I copied an image from MSPaint and pasted it into a Word document I'm working on. For some reason the image hides behind the text even with the default "in line with text" setting. Trying other settings don't work as expected either. It does the same when I insert a picture from a file. Can anyone shed any light what would be causing this and how to fix it - I am guessing some formatting issue in the existing document?

  In my Asterisk log file, I have a line like this (truncated): Executing [123@mycontext:1] Set("SIP/myhost-b7111840", "__INCOMINGCLI=4711") Now I want to do the following filtering while looking at the log file with tail -f: Match lines with a specific value for "INCOMINGCLI", storing the call ID (the "SIP/myhost-b7111840" part) Output all subsequent lines that contain the call ID. As a bonus, having a grep-like option like -A would be nice. I could do that easily in various programming languages, but how would I do it with standard UNIX commands like sed or awk? Can it be done with these commands?

• ts_block.vbs and mac intosh

  I am using your excellent ts_blocker, release 20120530, on my server 2008 R2 Enterprise. it works very fine, i use the vbs script, launched with wscript. The only problem is that is does not work for users attempting to connect RDP from a mac intosh. With this machine the distant IP seems to be not recognized when the login fails. The IP is visible when the login is good (event ID 4624) but not when it fails (Audit failure event ID 4625) : then the IP is not to be seen in the event log ! In the "network information" of the event log entry is nothing given. Have you already been told of that and is there something to do ?

  I have an Transcend pendrive, and when I connect it and double click it to explore, it is showing the error: Please insert a disk into drive Also In the properties field it is showing File system- Unknown Used space- 0 bytes free space- 0 bytes capacity- 0 bytes I tried to format it using using the command prompt but it is not showing in the list disk command. It is also not showing in the Disk Management.

  I have windows server 2008 r2 installed, Only service running on it is hyper-v. I am trying to take backup using windows server backup feature and it fails with following error in eventlog The backup operation that started at '?2009?-?08?-?22T18:42:14.123000000Z' has failed because the Volume Shadow Copy Service operation to create a shadow copy of the volumes being backed up failed with following error code '2155348129'. Please review the event details for a solution, and then rerun the backup operation once the issue is resolved. • DNS no longer works after server reboot

  Strangely enough, when I reboot my Ubuntu 12.04 server, the DNS no longer works, which makes the domain unavailable to access to my site. Normally the DNS should be working after a reboot, but this doesn't happen anymore. I use nginx to serve content, but nginx is already configured to work with my domains. What are the typical practises must I do after a reboot and how can I solve this issue I experience? • Fail2ban memory usage

  Since my server is under a sustain DNS amplification attack (DDOS), I configured fail2ban and initially my outgoing traffic dropped markedly. Anyway, after a few hours (mostly +10), fail2ban uses about 75% ram and seems to be crashed in some way, because the outgoing traffic raises imediatly after. When I searched the web for the memory problem, I found some people complaining about high fail2ban memory usages as well. But the recommended solution, to insert an ulimit command into a fail2ban config file, did not change that much for me.

• Ubuntu: Copy terminal mouse selection automatically to clipboard for other apps?

  I can use keyboard shortcuts and selecting text with the left mouse button allows me to insert the selection within gnome-terminal with the middle mouse button. However, mouse selection with left button does not copy it to the clipboard and thus is not available to other apps. I don't want to use the keyboard shortcuts when I select text with the left mouse button, I want to automatically have it in the clipboard (much like putty works on Windows).

• How to kill an openvz container?

  An openvz container can be stopped with vzctl stop <id> , but this needs the cooperation from the init inside the container. In case a container is compromised a way is needed to stop the container withouts its cooperation. Something like a vzctl kill <id> is needed which kills all processes inside the container and puts it into the stopped state. Such a kill command is not listed in the manpage. How can an openvz container be killed/stopped without needing it's cooperation?

I am thinking on doing it with a for each, and do the needed ifs inside it to remove or let it as it. My question is: What's the most efficent way to do this? The array will have no more than 100 records. But several users will request it and do the filtering over and over.

I thought about just renaming the current install to something like c:\apache2_old and if something fails, I can delete the new install and rename c:\apace2_old back to c:\apache. What do you all think?

• MySQL simple replication problem: 'show master status' produces 'Empty set'?

  I've been setting up MySQL master replication (on Debian 6.0.1) following these instructions faithfully: http://www.neocodesoftware.com/replication/ I've got as far as: mysql > show master status; but this is unfortunately producing the following, rather than any useful output: Empty set (0.00 sec) The error log at /var/log/mysql.err is just an empty file, so that's not giving me any clues. Any ideas?   I have a list of people: Column A: person A, person A guest, person B, person C, person C guest, ... Column B: 1, 1, 2, 3, 3, ... So in column A there is the person's name, column B gives a person a unique ID (the same id for their guest so we know that they are together). Now pretend we have a list of 100 people (also note that not all persons have guests) and we have to seat them. We have a list of tables (for example 10 * 4 person table and 10*6 person tables). We have to randomize that each person is assigned to a table and the guest is seated on the same table. What is the best way to do this? (it is also needed that I can generate this 4 times in a row without the same results, so when during the 4 courses of the diner the person are switching tables but not losing their guest).

• Using rsyslog to create different log files for different processes

  Scenario: I am running a cluster of machines. Each machine runs various python programs with a unique (across the cluster), but dynamically set, ID. Right now, they are all logging locally. So, I might have logs that look like: process_5.log process_6.log for processes that had ID's 5 and 6. Another machine may have: process_20.log process_25.log I wish to forward these logs to a logserver running rsyslogd. Python's logging facility has a nice syslog handler, so I understand how I could connect to the remote server. What I haven't figured out is how to use templating/DynFile to maintain log separation. e.g. on the logserver, I will want to see: process_5.log process_6.log process_20.log process_25.log which correspond to the logs of the same name on the sending machine. Is there a way to pull this off with rsyslogd templating?

You enter your caption, in this case "A happy bicycle" (in yellow). • Windows 8 blue screen error watchdog violation

  My system is windows 8 pro rtm x64. Recently my system started hanging frequently. Nothing but the restart button works. But now just after hanging it showed me a BSOD error saying watchdog violation. I used bluscreen viewer to see the error in the memory dump and it showed me something about hal.dll, ntoskrnl.exe. • Windows equivalent for Linux "screen" or another alternative?

  Hello all! I'm on the lookout for a method to control programs in a Windows environment. I would prefer it to be a bit similar to the Linux software "screen". The reason of my search is that I need to start a program (on Windows) with an identifier, so I later would be able to close that specific program, without closing anything else - even though the actual program (.exe file) is running multiple times. So is there anyway I can "name" it? I'm using the following on Linux now: $ screen <params> <id> ./softwareprogram And then I know I can always find it with it's ID :) It's an external program which is closing or starting a 3rd party program. My program is written in C++, if that does any difference. Thanks :)

• Make exact copy of USB stick [closed]

  There's this school software on a USB drive. It only runs, when the stick they gave is plugged in. Cloning the drive with dd command didn't work. I'm guessing it checks the hardware ID of the flash drive. Is there any way to change drives information? I guess not, but is it possible to create a virtual flash drive with exactly same hardware id and all other read-only information that the software is most probably checking. EDIT: The paper math books we have dont' have answers. So when I'm doing homework I have no idea if did it right. The electronic version does have the answers. The publisher didn't put them into paper version because of simple reason - money. They would have to republish the book if some answers are found to be wrong. So I feel no shame trying to pirate that software, because publishers are ruining our math education.
