    hi, I get the following error when I try to install Parallel Tools on my Ubuntu in Parallel Desktop.   • Access Western Digital My Book World II RAID array on my Ubuntu Linux

    Hi, My WD My Book World II (Blue Rings) NAS has overheated, I think the motherboard is dead. I extracted the disks and plugged them in my desktop PC running Ubuntu Linux. The disks seems to be alive, they are spinning and the BIOS recognize them but Ubuntu is not able to boot as soon as these drives are plugged in. I got an initramfs shell after few minutes telling explaining that the root disk is not available. I suspect that one of my WD drives took the precedence on the system ? Considering that Ubuntu is able to boot and can see my Western Digital disks... is it possible to access the RAID 0 array ? How ? Many thanks for your help, regards, -- Pierre Yager

  • Use hard disk image like a regular hard disk on Linux

    If you have a hard disk image (including partition table, multiple partitions,...), is it possible to let Linux treat it as a regular hard disk? By "regular hard disk" I mean I would like to have the image show up as, for instance, /dev/hdx and its partitions as /dev/hdx1,... (I know I can mount one of the partitions in the image using "mount -o loop,offset=x ..." but I don't really like this option.)

  • Powerpoint 2010 crash on quickstyle menu

    Windows 7 64-bit, recent install, added Office 2010. When I create some boxes and open the quick-style menu, it crashes (or stops responding, in windowese, and then it sends an error report). I've run the "Repair" from the installer, but it didn't help. There's nothing in Windows Update I've Googled and searched on Microsoft's site, but n Any other ideas?     The default behavior of XML serialization (to_xml) for ActiveRecord objects will emit 'type' and 'nil' attributes that are similar to XML Schema Instance attributes, but aren't set in a XML Namespace.   • Sony VAIO TZ2 internal camera and Windows XP

    I have a Sony Vaio TZ2 laptop here and I'm trying to install Windows XP SP3 on it. Everything works fine except of the integrated camera which is supposed to be a USB device but is absent in the Devoice Manager. I've read that it is important in what order you install drivers when you downgrade this Vista preinstalled model to Windows XP so I repeated once again the installation with the correct order by still had no luck with the camera. Can someone give me an advice on how to woke up this camera? Thanks!

    I have an old Dell Inspirion 3000 which came with Windows XP. It's still quite decent, 3 GHz P4, 2 GB RAM. I've installed windows 7 RTM (x86) & the best resolution it will do is 640x480 with a generic driver. It has an integrated Intel 8265G graphics card, and only PCI slots on the motherboard. I cannot stick another graphics card on it. Can I get a working driver for Windows 7? Official Dell website only lists XP drivers Am I destined to have the suckiness of XP on this computer forever?

    I have Windows 7 x64 and a Nvidia Geforce 9400GT video card. I have connected my TV (SANSUI LCT40SD SAKURA) to my computer/video card with S-Video. When I try to set up multiple displays in Nvidia Control Panel, I can't find the TV. I have only my normal screen "LG W1934" which is enabled. How can I fix it? Thank you.

  • Apple Airport Express, Extreme and Time Capsules, BT Home Hub, Wireless Extenders confusion

    I post quite frequently in Stack Overflow, but use Superuser less frequently. Mainly as I don't change hardware often and rarely have software issues! I live in a small stone cottage, and have an office in a separate building across a yard. I have a BT Homehub which is located in the cottage and a series of Ethernet cables running across the yard to the office. This is fine for my wired stuff. My main office computers are PCs running Windows 7 Ultimate, and one on Win7 Home, all working fine. I also have an old laptop on Win XP which works fine wirelessly in the house for those evenings in front of the TV catching up on a bit of work. I also have an iPhone and an iPad. Recently, I have been trying to get WiFi in the office so I can use Adobe Shadow (or whatever it now is!) to improve mobile web development efficiency using my iPhone and iPad, so I bought this: http://www.ebuyer.com/393462-zyxel-wre2205-500mbps-powerline-wireless-n300-range-extender-wre2205-gb0101f Thinking that would be lovely just plugged into the socket by the door in the office, extending the perimeter of the WiFi from my Homehub. I can't get it to work properly! If I plug a laptop into its ethernet port I can get it to connect to the Homehub and give me a kinda of wired, wireless extender. If, however, I plug the ethernet port into my home hub, it then seems to extend the network, but only my iOs devices work, and all my wired stuff stops working, and seems to create an infinite loop where windows connects to my homehob, and then rather to the internet, it then connects back to the extender thing. Anyway... in the meantime, I took a fatal trip to the Apple Store, where I purchased an Airport Express... solely for the purpose of hooking my iOs devices up as wireless music players in the house. I knew it had WiFi, but didn't want to use that part as an extender, I didn't think it would work on a Homehub anyway. It doesn't work on a Homehub! I now have a new wireless network in the house, which, when anything connects to it cannot connect to the Internet, so it works ONLY as a wireless music player. I then borrowed some Powerline Adaptors from someone and realised that this whole thing was getting totally out of control! It seems all the technology is out there but it's so complicated to get the right series of devices. To further add to the confusion, I wouldn't mind a network hard drive. I bought one that broke and lost everything, so now we're on to looking at the Apple Time Capsules. So my question is... IF... I buy an Apple Time Capsule, can I: Hook that up to my Homehub, leaving the homehub connected to the Internet so my Hub phones still work, then disable wireless on the homehub Link up my Airport Express to the Time Capsule PROPERLY so it will connect to the Internet Do the above with an Apple TV box should I buy one in future Use the Time Capsule as a network hard drive to store video and music that can be viewed/listened to via my iOS devices/Apple TV/Aiport Express anywhere even with my main PC off (this currently stores all this data) Hope that the IOS devices like the WiFi from the TimeCapsule better than the Homehub and work without extension, or buy another Airport Express to get WiFI in the office. Or... should I buy an Airport Extreme and use a USB hard drive for the network drive?

  • Apple Airport Extreme and PS3/PSP remote play

    I have not been able to get remote play over internet working through my AEBS. I have fiddled around with countless settings and also tried to telnet into the router, to no avail. The setup works fine inside the netowrk (I can remotely turn on my PS3 wirelessly using my PSP). However, outside the home network I cannot get it to work. Any help would be most appreciated.

    I tried to install the just released update of windows 8.1, but after several reboot it said it couldn't install it with the error : windows 8.1 couldn't be installed with error 0xc1900101 0x20006 I don't have truecrypt or bitlocker, just a dual boot with MacOSx86 (hackintosh) and chimera bootloader, I am not sure if it has anything to do with the error.   • Files missing after copying from one sdcard to another using Ubuntu 12.04

    I have two Kingston sdcards 8GB and 32GB. The 8GB for HTC Sensation and 32GB for my Tablet (Chinese). I soon ran out of space on my phone and decided to swap the data between the sdcards. I copied the data of 32GB sdcard to my PC(with Ubuntu 12.04) deleted everything on the 32GB sdcard and copied data from the 8GB sdcard to the other sdcard. At last I copied the data from my PC to the 8GB sdcard(before this I deleted everything that was on it before). Now the problem is that the 8GB sdcard has the data exactly the same, but the 32GB sdcard has some missing data. All my photos(not copied or posted on Facebook) and Songs are lost. Please help as to what I can do to get my data back? I have Android Revolution HD (ICS 4.0.3) on my rooted HTC Sensation (India). I suspect it has something to do with my data loss.

  • MS Access 2003 - Format a Number with Commas AND Auto-Decimal

    On a report I have a control which is bound to a column which can have up to 3 decimal places. I want the number to format with commas separating thousands and millions, but I also want the number of decimal places to be automatic, so that if there is no decimal portion then no decimal at all is shown. 1234.567 -> 1,234.567 1234.560 -> 1,234.56 1234.500 -> 1,234.5 1234.000 -> 1,234 General format will give me the auto decimal places but no commas. Standard format gives the comma but is fixed to 2 decimal places. Doing my own =Format(Number, "#,##0.#") leaves the decimal point in and doesn't align properly, with extra space on the right of the number. Do I have to write my own VB function to give the format I want? It seems silly that Access (apparently) can't do this out of the box. I tried to do that using Collada.The Collada 1.3 importer doesn't seem to do anything, the Collada 1.4 importer seems to work, but the animation didn't get imported into Blender.   • Re-Calibrate Toshiba battery meter with Windows 7

    I have a Toshiba U300 laptop. Back in the olden days (circa-2000) you could re-calibrate the battery meter from the BIOS when your battery was no longer reading accurately. My battery was shot, so I bought a brand new one, however Windows 7 still seems to count down the battery life in at the same speed as the old one did. This time, when it alleged 0%, I turned the laptop back on and got another 90 minutes of life out of it, at 0%. Is there a tool or utility for Toshiba laptops that can fix it back to being accurate? I've read the other threads on SU about cycling the battery but that just doesn't seem to do it in this case. Update: After the last cycle, the battery meter now reads 100% but the indicator on the front of the laptop is still orange (indicating not fully charged)
