  • Windows could not start Apache 2 on the local computer

    After installing PHP 5.3, Windows is unable to start Apache 2.2. Apache's error log is empty, no error message on startup: C:\Programme\Apache\bin>httpd -k start C:\Programme\Apache\bin>httpd -k stop The Apache2.2 service is not started. C:\Programme\Apache\bin>httpd -k config Reconfiguring the Apache2.2 service The Apache2.2 service is successfully installed. Testing httpd.conf.... Errors reported here must be corrected before the service can be started. I have no clue where to look for the cause. php5apache2_2.dll is copied to the Apache modules folder. The configuration looks like this: LoadModule php5_module modules/php5apache2_2.dll PHPIniDir "C:/programme/php" Where and how can I start diagnosis? The only hint I have so far is that startup fails as soon as a PHP module is enabled in the configuration. Is there a way to get more details out of the Apache startup process?     Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management (Oracle BRM) is the telcos industry´s leading solution intended for communications service providers. This post encourages to know BRM starting with the basics. History Portal was a billing and revenue managament solution to communications industry created by Portal Software. In 2006 Oracle acquired Portal Software and the solution was renamed BRM. Today Oracle BRM is the first end-to-end packaged enterprise software suite for the communications industry, however BRM is just one more product in the catalog of OSS solutions that Oracle offers. BRM can bill and manage all communications services including wireline, wireless, broadband, cable, voice over IP, IPTV, music, and video. BRM Architecture BRM´s architecture consists of 4 layers or tiers. Through these layers are the data, bussines logic and interfaces to connect graphical client tools.Application tier This layer provides GUI client tools enabling communication to other layers through open APIs. Some BRM client applications are: Customer Center Pricing Center Universal Event Loader Web Server BRM Billing Application Collections Center Permissioning Center Furthermore, this layer is where are provided real-time external events. Bussines Process Tier Although all layers are equally important, I think it deserves more atention because in this tier BRM functionality is implemented. All functions that give life to BRM are in this layer coded in C language called Opcodes (System Processes in the image). Any changes or additional functionality should be made here, so when we try to customize the product, we will most of the time programming in this layer (Business Policies in the image).Bussines Process Tier Features: Implements Portal system functionalityValidates data from the application tierModifies Portal behavior through business policies. Business policies can by customized.Triggers external systems using event notification. Object Tier This layer is responsible for transfer the BRM requests into database language and translate BRM requests into external system requests. Without it, the business logic (data from Bussines Process Tier) could not be understood by the relational database. Data tier Data tier is responsable for the storage of BRM database and other external systems databases. External systems include credit card, tax, and directory servers. Finally, It's important to note that BRM is designed to easily integrate with the following solutions:AIA 2.4 Siebel CRM E-Business Suite - G/L onlyCommunications Services Gatekeeper Oracle BI Publisher. Personally, I think that BRM could improve migrating client-server architecture to a fully web platform that works with Oracle Middleware like any product of the Fusion Middleware family. However, if a wizard has many steps and each step accepts many entries then full page postback can deteriorate the user experience. To overcome this shortcoming you can add Ajax to the wizard so that only the form is posted to the server.   • Wine 1.2 crash after I start Mega 5.0

    I installed Mega 5.0 by running "sudo sh MEGA5_Setup_deb_v2.sh" The application downloaded wine 1.2 as mega requires in order to work under Ubuntu. However every time I start the application through the icon provided, wine crashes asking me to send/save bug report, the problem is that if I choose to do so, megas starting window pops up covering the bug report window leaving me unable to do anything (as it won't move) The only solution I have come up with is to log out and log back in, as I cancels wine. I beg you following: Please post detailed step by step instructions how to deal with said problem Tell me if forceful log out, can damage computer of any of my data Please forgive me my weak English as it is not my native language. Also forgive me my weak skills concerning Ubuntu usage as I have me forced to switch to Ubuntu this very day. Thank you.

  • Unity Android: Truecolor texture performance hit and alternatives for truecolor

    After integrating the graphics assets to my application, I noticed that when the textures are compressed they look very bad compared to truecolor. This happens to all the textures and it did not seem to help changing the texture type to GUI nor did it help to switch the 32-bit display buffering on. Does using truecolor textures make the application much heavier to run? Or does it just increase the size of the .APK? Are there alternatives to getting a good texture quality and a smaller texture size instead of using truecolor?

    Just for testing purposes, I went a head and enabled the root account, by using the commands below: sudo passwd root [sudo] password for abed: Enter new UNIX password: Retype new UNIX password: passwd: password updated successfully Once that happened, I went ahead and did Ctrl+Alt+F1, to get to the first virtual console, and at the login prompt I try logging in as abed, su, root, all comeback with login incorrect. Why is that happening, and how can I fix it.

    Although not everyone is practicing continuous integration, many have at least heard of the concept. A recent poll on www.simple-talk.com indicates that 40% of respondents are employing the technique. It is widely accepted that the earlier issues are identified in the development process, the lower the cost to the development process. The worst case scenario, of course, is for the bug to be found by the customer following the product release. A number of Agile development best practices have evolved to combat this problem early in the development process, including pair programming, code inspections and unit testing. Continuous integration is one such Agile concept that tackles the problem at the point of committing a change to source control. This can alternatively be run on a regular schedule. This triggers a sequence of events that compiles the code and performs a variety of tests. Often the continuous integration process is regarded as a build validation test, and if issues were to be identified at this stage, the testers would simply not 'waste their time ' and touch the build at all. Such a ‘broken build’ will trigger an alert and the development team’s number one priority should be to resolve the issue. How application code is compiled and tested as part of continuous integration is well understood. However, this isn’t so clear for databases. Indeed, before I cover the mechanics of implementation, we need to decide what we mean by database continuous integration. For me, database continuous integration can be implemented as one or more of the following: 1)      Your application code is being compiled and tested. You therefore need a database to be maintained at the corresponding version. 2)      Just as a valid application should compile, so should the database. It should therefore be possible to build a new database from scratch. 3)     Likewise, it should be possible to generate an upgrade script to take your already deployed databases to the latest version.   • Need clarification concerning Windows Azure

    I basically need some confirmation and clarification concerning Windows Azure with respect to a Silverlight application using RIA Services. In a normal Silverlight app that uses RIA services you have 2 projects: App App.Web ... where App is the default client-side Silverlight and app.web is the server-side code where your RIA services go. If you create a Windows Azure app and add a WCF Web Services Role, you get: App (Azure project) App.Services (WCF Services project) In App.Services, you add your RIA DomainService(s). You would then add another project to this solution that would be the client-side Silverlight that accesses the RIA Services in the App.Services project. You then can add the entity model to the App.Services or another project that is referenced by App.Services (if that division is required for unit testing etc.) and connect that entity model to either a SQLServer db or a SQLAzure instance. Is this correct? If not, what is the general 'layout' for building an application with the following tiers: UI (Silverlight 4) Services (RIA Services) Entity/Domain (EF 4) Data (SQL Server)

The Windows Phone 7 Developer Tools January 2011 Update provides bits that you would install on TOP of the current WP7 Dev tools on your machine. If you are just installing the tools for the first time, this update replaces previously released October patch. In fact, it is no longer available as this January 2011 update replaces the patch entirely. What is in this update? TextBox support for Copy&Paste Updated Emulator Image that contains Copy&Paste for your testing There have been performance tweaks for the OS Minor Bugs and Fixes How does it Work? The Copy&Paste extends a existing TextBox control to have this new functionality, There is no current API access to the Clipboard or support for other controls that are not based on TextBox.   • AS3 Stage3D Mouse click problem?

    I have a problem with Mouse interaction and Stage3D. The only way I found to register to listen to mouse clicks and interact with Stage3D, is to add a mouse eventListener directly to the .stage. However this will result in any time i click anywhere in the flash application the mouse click will fire, even if there is an overlaid 2D menu where the user intended to click. IE I have a 3D application running in the background, which listens to clicks, and I have some floating User Interface elements in the foreground, and ideally if I clicked a button in the foreground, then that would NOT fire a click event that the Stage3D would register. Any idea how to solve this problem?

  • How do you deal with intentionally bad code?

    There are many stories about intentionally bad code, not only on TDWTF but also on SO. Typical cases include: Having a useless time-wasting construct (e.g. an empty loop counting to some huge value) so programmers can easily "speed up" the application by removing it when they are tasked to. Providing intentionally misleading, wrong or no documentation to generate expensive support requests. Readily generating errors, or worse, generating even though everything worked fine, locking up the application so an expensive support call is required to unlock. These points display a more or less malicious attitude (even though sometimes by accident), especially the first point occurs rather often. How should one deal with such constructs? Ignore the issue, or just remove the offending code? Notify their manager, or speak to the person who introduced the "feature"?

In each of these method implementation, I am replacing /%1 with controller namespace. Now, just register these view engines in Application_Start method in Global.asax.cs file,   protected void Application_Start() { ViewEngines.Engines.Clear(); ViewEngines.Engines.Add(new MyRazorViewEngine()); ViewEngines.Engines.Add(new MyWebFormViewEngine()); ................................................ ................................................ }             Now just create a controller and put this controller's view inside Views/ControllerNameSpace/ControllerName folder and then run this application. You will find that everything works just fine.       Summary:          ASP.NET MVC uses convention over configuration to locate views. For many applications this convention to locate views is acceptable. But sometimes you may need to locate views at run-time.
