  • Copying 2D lists in python

    Hi I want to copy a 2D list, so that if I modify 1 list, the other is not modified. For 1 D list, I just do this: a = [1,2] b = a[:] And now if I modify b, a is not modified. But this doesn't work for 2D list: a = [[1,2],[3,4]] b = a[:] If I modify b, a gets modified as well. How do I fix this?

    While from version 5 on, Java provides many extremely useful features like annotations, enums, generics, etc., 1.4 is still in use in many enterprise projects. So I'm wondering what the chances are that you still have to work with 1.4, thus being forced to go without JPA, EJB3 etc. In your answer, please also state the branch of company you work for.   • have PDF form, need to port to website

    So here is what I have: a PDF form (job application) that a client is requesting to put on their website as a form and the data gets sent to them when an applicant on the site fills the form out. My idea is as follows: dissecting the PDF, taking its fields and making the HTML form, then processing on the server side, creating the new PDF and emailing as an attachment to the client. However, something tells me that there is a better, more effective way of doing it. Is that so?

    I have paired values in tuples that are related matches (and technically still in CSV files). Neither of the paired values are necessarily unique. tupleAB = (A####, B###), (A###, B###), (A###, B###)... tupleBC = (B####, C###), (B###, C###), (B###, C###)... tupleAC = (A####, C###), (A###, C###), (A###, C###)... My ideal output would be a dictionary with a unique ID and a list of "reinforced" matches. The way I try to think about it is in a graph-based context. For example, if: tupleAB[x] = (A0001, B0012) tupleBC[y] = (B0012, C0230) tupleAC[z] = (A0001, C0230) This would produce: output = {uniquekey0001, [A0001, B0012, C0230]} Ideally, this would also be able to scale up to more than three tuples (for example, adding a "D" match that would result in an additional three tuples - AD, BD, and CD - and lists of four items long; and so forth). In regards to scaling up to more tuples, I am open to having "graphs" that aren't necessarily fully connected, i.e., every node connected to every other node. My hunch is that I could easily filter based on the list lengths. I am open to any suggestions. I think, with a few cups of coffee, I could work out a brute force solution, but I thought I'd ask the community if anyone was aware of a more elegant solution. Thanks for any feedback.

  • How to handle not-enough-isolatedstorage issue deep in data loader?

    I have a silverlight application which loads data from many external data sources into IsolatedStorage, and while loading any of these sources if it does not have enough IsolatedStorage, it ends up in a catch statement. At that point in that catch statement I would like to ask the user to click a button to approve silverlight to increase the IsolatedStorage capacity. The problem is, although I have a "SwitchPage()" method with which I display a page, if I access it at this point it is too deep in the loading process and the application always goes into an endless loop, hangs and crashes. I need a way to branch out of the application completely somehow to an independent UserControl which has a button and code behind which does the increase logic.     Does anyone have any good answer what kind of difference there is between using some arbitrary pre-formatted Excel 2007 *.xlsx file as a template, loading it in my C# app, and filling up some of its cells with data using the Microsoft OpenXML SDK versus creating specific Excel templates (*.xltx) files and using those as basis for my "data filling" exercise Do I loose something when I don't use the Excel templates (*.xltx)?   • Alternatives to LINQ To SQL on high loaded pages

    To begin with, I LOVE LINQ TO SQL. It's so much easier to use than direct querying. But, there's one great problem: it doesn't work well on high loaded requests. I have some actions in my ASP.NET MVC project, that are called hundreds times every minute. I used to have LINQ to SQL there, but since the amount of requests is gigantic, LINQ TO SQL almost always returned "Row not found or changed" or "X of X updates failed". And it's understandable. For instance, I have to increase some value by one with every request. var stat = DB.Stats.First(); stat.Visits++; // .... DB.SubmitChanges(); But while ASP.NET was working on those //... instructions, the stats.Visits value stored in the table got changed. I found a solution, I created a stored procedure UPDATE Stats SET Visits=Visits+1 It works well. Unfortunately now I'm getting more and more moments like that. And it sucks to create stored procedures for all cases. So my question is, how to solve this problem? Are there any alternatives that can work here? I hear that Stackoverflow works with LINQ to SQL. And it's more loaded than my site.

    Does anyone have a handy powershell script that gets a set of files from TFS based on a modification date? I'd like to say "give me all the files in this folder (or subfolder) that were modified after X/Y/ZZZZ" and dump those files to a folder other than the folder they would normally go to. I know enough powershell to hack about and get this done, eventually, but I'm hoping to avoid that.

    A requirement for the SIP PBX I created for my company was to record all calls passing through it. I solved it by forcing all SIP message to pass through the PBX and to modify the SDP body so the stream passes through it and gets recorded. It works well. I recently found out that this is not allowed. Is there any other way to implement call recording and how "wrong" is this in regard to the protocol?

    Scenario : i have a database table that is being apdated frequently bey some services. I have a c# Winform Application that load this table in a datagridview by binding a datatable as Datasource, then i whant to add a Timer that every 10 seconds update a the content of a datatable with the last changes in the database table ... I don't need to update a database with the datatable changes, but i need to update datatable with the last changes in the database table, that is the inverse of the usually.... Is there a way to do that ?   • In Javascript, how to avoid NaN when adding arrays

    I'm trying to add the values of two arrays in javascript eg. [1,2,1] + [3,2,3,4] The answer should be 4,4,4,4 but I'm either getting 4,4,4 or 4,4,4,NaN if I change the 1st array length to 4. I know a 4th number needs to be in the 1st array, but i can't figure out how to tell javascript to make it 0 rather then undefined if there is no number.

  • How do I set an absolute include path in PHP?

    In HTML, I can find a file starting from the web server's root folder by beginning the filepath with "/". Like: /images/some_image.jpg I can put that path in any file in any subdirectory, and it will point to the right image. With PHP, I tried something similar: include("/includes/header.php"); ...but that doesn't work. I think that that this page is saying that I can set include_path once and after that, it will be assumed. But I don't quite get the syntax. Both examples start with a period, and it says: Using a . in the include path allows for relative includes as it means the current directory. Relative includes are exactly what I don't want. How do I make sure that all my includes point to the root/includes folder? (Bonus: what if I want to place that folder outside the public directory?) Clarification My development files are currently being served by XAMPP/Apache. Does that affect the absolute path? (I'm not sure yet what the production server will be.)
