  • Silverlight Unit Testing Framework running tests in external class library

    - by Jonas Follesø
I'm currently looking into different options for unit testing Silverlight applications. One of the frameworks available is the Silverlight Unit Test Framework from Microsoft (developed primary by Jeff Wilcox, http://www.jeff.wilcox.name/2010/05/sl3-utf-bits/). One of the scenarios I'm looking into is running the same tests on both Silverlight 3 (PC) and Windows Phone 7. The Silverlight Unit Test Framework (SLUT) runs on both PC and phone. To prevent having to copy or link files I would like to put my tests into a shared test library, that can be loaded by either a WP7 application using the SLUT, or a Silverlight 3 application using SLUT. So my question is: will SLUT load unit tests defined in a referenced class library, or only in the executing assembly?

  • Unity works on my PC but not on the Server. What did I miss?

    - by Erik France
    I have a web service using Microsoft Unity to hook the pieces together.  It all works fine on my PC but when I put it on the web server, I receive this error message: System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[System.ServiceModel.ExceptionDetail]: The value of the property 'type' cannot be parsed. The error is: Method 'GetClaimsForUser' in type 'WebService.Implementation.ClaimsRetriever' from assembly 'WebService.Implementation, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=62cac0f1a908971a' does not have an implementation. If I look at the web.config, I see the following: <unity>     <typeAliases>       <typeAlias alias="ITokenGenerator" type="WebService.Interfaces.ITokenGenerator, WebService.Interfaces" />       <typeAlias alias="TokenGenerator" type="WebService.Implementation.TokenGenerator, WebService.Implementation" />       <typeAlias alias="IClaimsRetriever" type="WebService.Interfaces.IClaimsRetriever, WebService.Interfaces" />       <typeAlias alias="ClaimsRetriever" type="WebService.Implementation.ClaimsRetriever, WebService.Implementation" />       <typeAlias alias="TokenGeneratorSettings" type="WebService.Implementation.TokenGeneratorSettings, WebService.Implementation" />       <typeAlias alias="String" type="System.String, mscorlib" />     </typeAliases>     <containers>       <container>         <types>           <type type="ITokenGenerator" mapTo="TokenGenerator">             <typeConfig extensionType="Microsoft.Practices.Unity.Configuration.TypeInjectionElement, Microsoft.Practices.Unity.Configuration">               <constructor>                 <param name="retriever" parameterType="IClaimsRetriever">                   <dependency />                 </param>                 <param name="settings" parameterType="TokenGeneratorSettings">                   <dependency />                 </param>               </constructor>             </typeConfig>           </type>           <type type="IClaimsRetriever" mapTo="ClaimsRetriever">             <typeConfig extensionType="Microsoft.Practices.Unity.Configuration.TypeInjectionElement, Microsoft.Practices.Unity.Configuration">               <constructor>                 <param name="connectionStringName" parameterType="String">                   <value value="devDatabase" type="String" />                 </param>               </constructor>             </typeConfig>           </type>         </types>       </container>     </containers>   </unity> I have another web service, using an almost identical config running on the web server.  But this new web service will not run. Any ideas on what I have not told Unity to do?  Or maybe what I told Unity to do incorrectly?

  • Simulating C-style for loops in python

    - by YGA
(even the title of this is going to cause flames, I realize) Python made the deliberate design choice to have the for loop use explicit iterables, with the benefit of considerably simplified code in most cases. However, sometimes it is quite a pain to construct an iterable if your test case and update function are complicated, and so I find myself writing the following while loops: val = START_VAL while <awkward/complicated test case>: # do stuff ... val = <awkward/complicated update> The problem with this is that the update is at the bottom of the while block, meaning that if I want to have a continue embedded somewhere in it I have to: use duplicate code for the complicated/awkard update, AND run the risk of forgetting it and having my code infinite loop I could go the route of hand-rolling a complicated iterator: def complicated_iterator(val): while <awkward/complicated test case>: yeild val val = <awkward/complicated update> for val in complicated_iterator(start_val): if <random check>: continue # no issues here # do stuff This strikes me as waaaaay too verbose and complicated. Do folks in stack overflow have a simpler suggestion?

  • RSpec: Expectation on model's not working while testing controller

    - by gmile
I'm trying to write a functional test. My test looks as following: describe PostsController do it "should create a Post" do Post.should_receive(:new).once post :create, { :post => { :caption => "ThePost", :category => "MyCategory" } } end end My PostsController (a part of it actually) looks as following: PostController < ActiveRecord::Base def create @post = Post.new(params[:post]) end end Running the test I'm always receiving a failure, which says that the Post class expected :new but never got it. Still, the actual post is created. I'm a newbie to RSpec. Am I missing something?

  • Simple Moq ? - Problem with .Verify

    - by user127954
Hi, just a simple question here. I've used Moq for awhile but, as of yet, have only used it for stubbing and not for mocking. I am trying to introduce our developers to unit testing. I set up a simple example to explain the concepts but i can't seem to get it working. Probably something simple so i thought i would just ask you all to see what i'm doing wrong: <Test()> _ Public Sub Divide_DivideByZero_LogsError() Dim mock = New Mock(Of ILogger) With mock Dim calc = New MyCalculator(New CalculatorData, .Object) calc.Divide(55, 0) mock.Object.WriteError("test", "Test") .Verify(Function(x) CType(x,ILogger).WriteError(it.IsAny(of String),It.IsAny(Of String)))) End With End Sub I'm using Moq version 3.2.416.3. I get an error on the .verify telling me that i'm calling it with incorrect arguments. I'm just trying to verify that .WriteError was called. any help would be appreciated.

  • Silly Objective-C inheritance problem when using property

    - by Ben Packard
I've been scratching my head with this for a couple of hours - I haven't used inheritance much. Here I have set up a simple Test B class that inherits from Test A, where an ivar is declared. But I get the compilation error that the variable is undeclared. This only happens when I add the property and synthesize declarations - works fine without them. TestA Header: #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> @interface TestA : NSObject { NSString *testString; } @end TestA Implementation is empty: #import "TestA.h" @implementation TestA @end TestB Header: #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> #import "TestA.h" @interface TestB : TestA { } @property NSString *testProp; @end TestB Implementation (Error - 'testString' is undeclared) #import "TestB.h" @implementation TestB @synthesize testProp; - (void)testing{ NSLog(@"test ivar is %@", testString); } @end

  • Testing PayPal certificate on a different domain

    - by PHP thinker
I have a PP-enabled site that needs to be tested. I've already tested it with Sandbox credentials and it works ok. The next step is to test it with live PayPal credentials on test server. Here I hit a wall, because using real credentials from liveserver.com on test.liveserver.com gives me error of "malformed url" (which as I read stands for "invalid credentials"). And here is the question: are PayPal credentials domain-bound? Can I get error message because I am using live api credentials on a subdomain(different domain)?

  • Testing with Unittest Python

    - by chrissygormley
Hello, I am runninig test's with Python Unittest. I am running tests but I want to do negative testing and I would like to test if a function throw's an exception, it passes but if no exception is thrown the test fail's. The script I have is: try: result = self.client.service.GetStreamUri(self.stream, self.token) self.assertFalse except suds.WebFault, e: self.assertTrue else: self.assertTrue This alway's passes as True even when the function work's perfectly. I have also tried various other way's including: try: result = self.client.service.GetStreamUri(self.stream, self.token) self.assertFalse except suds.WebFault, e: self.assertTrue except Exception, e: self.assertTrue Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

  • Struct Method for Loops Problem

    - by Annalyne
I have tried numerous times how to make a do-while loop using the float constructor for my code but it seems it does not work properly as I wanted. For summary, I am making a TBRPG in C++ and I encountered few problems. But before that, let me post my code. #include <iostream> #include <string> #include <ctime> #include <cstdlib> using namespace std; int char_level = 1; //the starting level of the character. string town; //town string town_name; //the name of the town the character is in. string charname; //holds the character's name upon the start of the game int gems = 0; //holds the value of the games the character has. const int MAX_ITEMS = 15; //max items the character can carry string inventory [MAX_ITEMS]; //the inventory of the character in game int itemnum = 0; //number of items that the character has. bool GameOver = false; //boolean intended for the game over scr. string monsterTroop [] = {"Slime", "Zombie", "Imp", "Sahaguin, Hounds, Vampire"}; //monster name float monsterTroopHealth [] = {5.0f, 10.0f, 15.0f, 20.0f, 25.0f}; // the health of the monsters int monLifeBox; //life carrier of the game's enemy troops int enemNumber; //enemy number //inventory[itemnum++] = "Sword"; class RPG_Game_Enemy { public: void enemyAppear () { srand(time(0)); enemNumber = 1+(rand()%3); if (enemNumber == 1) cout << monsterTroop[1]; //monster troop 1 else if (enemNumber == 2) cout << monsterTroop[2]; //monster troop 2 else if (enemNumber == 3) cout << monsterTroop[3]; //monster troop 3 else if (enemNumber == 4) cout << monsterTroop[4]; //monster troop 4 } void enemDefeat () { cout << "The foe has been defeated. You are victorious." << endl; } void enemyDies() { //if the enemy dies: //collapse declaration cout << "The foe vanished and you are victorious!" << endl; } }; class RPG_Scene_Battle { public: RPG_Scene_Battle(float ini_health) : health (ini_health){}; float getHealth() { return health; } void setHealth(float rpg_val){ health = rpg_val;}; private: float health; }; //---------------------------------------------------------------// // Conduct Damage for the Scene Battle's Damage //---------------------------------------------------------------// float conductDamage(RPG_Scene_Battle rpg_tr, float damage) { rpg_tr.setHealth(rpg_tr.getHealth() - damage); return rpg_tr.getHealth(); }; // ------------------------------------------------------------- // void RPG_Scene_DisplayItem () { cout << "Items: \n"; for (int i=0; i < itemnum; ++i) cout << inventory[i] <<endl; }; In this code I have so far, the problem I have is the battle scene. For example, the player battles a Ghost with 10 HP, when I use a do while loop to subtract the HP of the character and the enemy, it only deducts once in the do while. Some people said I should use a struct, but I have no idea how to make it. Is there a way someone can display a code how to implement it on my game? Edit: I made the do-while by far like this: do RPG_Scene_Battle (player, 20.0f); RPG_Scene_Battle (enemy, 10.0f); cout << "Battle starts!" <<endl; cout << "You used a blade skill and deducted 2 hit points to the enemy!" conductDamage (enemy, 2.0f); while (enemy!=0) also, I made something like this: #include <iostream> using namespace std; int gems = 0; class Entity { public: Entity(float startingHealth) : health(startingHealth){}; // initialize health float getHealth(){return health;} void setHealth(float value){ health = value;}; private: float health; }; float subtractHealthFrom(Entity& ent, float damage) { ent.setHealth(ent.getHealth() - damage); return ent.getHealth(); }; int main () { Entity character(10.0f); Entity enemy(10.0f); cout << "Hero Life: "; cout << subtractHealthFrom(character, 2.0f) <<endl; cout << "Monster Life: "; cout << subtractHealthFrom(enemy, 2.0f) <<endl; cout << "Hero Life: "; cout << subtractHealthFrom(character, 2.0f) <<endl; cout << "Monster Life: "; cout << subtractHealthFrom(enemy, 2.0f) <<endl; }; Struct method, they say, should solve this problem. How can I continously deduct hp from the enemy? Whenever I deduct something, it would return to its original value -_-

  • MSBuild Starter Kits - i.e. Copy and just start modding...

    - by vdh_ant
Hi guys Just wondering if anyone knows if there are any MSBuild starter kits out there. What I mean by starter kits is that from the looks of it most builds to kinda the same sort of steps with minor changes here and there (i.e. most builds would run test, coverage, zip up the results, produce a report, deploy etc). Also what most people in general want from a CI build, test build, release build is mostly the same with minor changes here and there. Now don't get me wrong i think that most scripts are fairly different in the end. But I can't help but think that most start out life being fairly similar. Hence does anyone know of any "starter kits" that have like a dev/CI/test/release build with the common tasks that most people would want that you can just start changing and modifying? Cheers Anthony

  • In App Purchase An unknown error has occured

    - by rp90
I have created a test app that has in app purchasing. I am able to connect to the store and verify my product ID's. I then use my test user account to purchase a product. And guess what... it works... the first time. If I try to use the test user account to buy another product (the same product or a different one) then I get a pop up that says "An unknown error has occurred" with a "Cancel" and "Retry" option. If I retry then I get the same error. After hitting cancel I get the error: Error Domain=SKErrorDomain Code=0 UserInfo=0x161180 "Cannot connect to iTunes Store" Any ideas?

  • How can I get FlashVars values in ActionScript 2.0?

    - by AndreMiranda
Hi! I have to dynamically send a flashvars value from <object>/<embed>, for example "<object name="flashvars" value="test=myxml.xml"> to my swf file. And in my AS, I have this: var xmlPath:String = _level0.test; doc.load(xmlPath); So, this way I want to read several xml files (at least it's my intention!). But nothing of what I do works... I also tried doc.load(_root.test) but it didnt work too. If I do: doc.load("someXML.xml") It works just fine!! I'm trying to solve this for many many hours and still didn't find any solution!! Thanks in advance!!!

  • JQuery: Run animations on the element's contents

    - by BHare
I have a div that has some padding, border, and style applied to it. Inside the div I have just some plain text. Something like this: <div id=test style="border: 2px solid black; background-color: blue;"> The text I would like to animate </div> Normally to animate the contents I would do something like this: $('#test > *').hide(1000); But apparently the > * only selects child elements, and not non-elements (text for example) So my current work around is: <div id=test style="border: 2px solid black; background-color: blue;"> <span>The text I would like to animate</span> </div> Making a span that is not really needed.

  • empty() behavior

    - by lightalloy
    Maybe I'm asking a stupid question, but I can't understand this behavior: <?php $this->meeting->google_id = 'test'; $test = $this->meeting->google_id; var_dump(empty($test)); var_dump(empty($this->meeting)); var_dump(empty($this->meeting->google_id)); ?> gives output: bool(false) bool(false) bool(true) Why the result of empty($this->meeting->google_id); is true? And how should I check this property then?

  • How to share a variable between two classes?

    - by Altefquatre
How would you share the same object between two other objects? For instance, I'd like something in that flavor: class A { private string foo_; // It could be any other class/struct too (Vector3, Matrix...) public A (string shared) { this.foo_ = shared; } public void Bar() { this.foo_ = "changed"; } } ... // inside main string str = "test"; A a = new A(str); Console.WriteLine(str); // "test" a.Bar(); Console.WriteLine(str); // I get "test" instead of "changed"... :( I read there is some ref/out stuff, but I couldn't get what I'm asking here. I could only apply some changes in the methods scope where I was using ref/out arguments... I also read we could use pointers, but is there no other way to do it?

  • Folder cleanup with PowerShell

    - by 280Z28
I'd like to clean up some directories after my script runs by deleting certain folders and files from the current directory if they exist. Originally, I structured the script like this: if (Test-Path Folder1) { Remove-Item -r Folder1 } if (Test-Path Folder2) { Remove-Item -r Folder2 } if (Test-Path File1) { Remove-Item File1 } Now that I have quite a few items listed in this section, I'd like to clean it up. How can I do so? Side note: The items are cleaned up before the script runs, since they are left over from the previous run in case I need to examine them.

  • Boost::Container::Vector with Enum Template Argument - Not Legal Base Class

    - by CuppM
Hi, I'm using Visual Studio 2008 with the Boost v1.42.0 library. If I use an enum as the template argument, I get a compile error when adding a value using push_back(). The compiler error is: 'T': is not a legal base class and the location of the error is move.hpp line 79. #include <boost/interprocess/containers/vector.hpp> class Test { public: enum Types { Unknown = 0, First = 1, Second = 2, Third = 3 }; typedef boost::container::vector<Types> TypesVector; }; int main() { Test::TypesVector o; o.push_back(Test::First); return 0; } If I use a std::vector instead it works. And if I resize the Boost version first and then set the values using the [] operator it also works. Is there some way to make this work using push_back()?

  • Compare values in each column of two Oracle Types

    - by colinjameswebb
I've been playing around with the pluto-test-framework today, and I'd like to get some existing functions into a test harness with it. I have lots of functions with this type of specification. FUNCTION DO_SOME_STUFF (pOldSchedule IN SCHEDULE_OBJ, pNewSchedule OUT SCHEDULE_OBJ, pLoggerContext IN OUT LOGGER_CONTEXT_OBJ) RETURN NUMBER; It takes pOldSchedule, does some stuff to it, and then returns pNewSchedule. The logger_context just does logging. As part of a test, I'd like to be able to compare the values in each of the columns of the type, without having to write individual IF statements. It'll need to return boolean to signify whether or not pOldSchedule and pNewSchedule match. Any ideas?

I've googled 2 days straight and I can't find how to do this. I have an open stream between client and server, and client will send a JSON string (encrypted to bytes) to the server each 3 to 5 seconds. How can I write to the Socket OutputStream so that I can read each JSON string in the server. I'm guessing I need to specify some kind of end of file or something, but can't find any info on how to achieve this.

  • Get enum by it's inner field

    - by zeroed
Hi! Have enum with inner fields, kind of map. Now I need to get enum by it's inner field. Wrote this: package test; /** * Test enum to test enum =) */ public enum TestEnum { ONE(1), TWO(2), THREE(3); private int number; TestEnum(int number) { this.number = number; } public TestEnum findByKey(int i) { TestEnum[] testEnums = TestEnum.values(); for (TestEnum testEnum : testEnums) { if (testEnum.number == i) { return testEnum; } } return null; } } But it's not very efficient to look up through all enums each time I need to find appropriate instance. Is there any other way to do the same?
