• NginxHttpAuthBasicModule with Sinatra & Passenger

  I'm serving static pages from a Sinatra application using Nginx. I've implemented Basic Authentication for one page on the site using NginxHttpAuthBasicModule, the authentication succeeds but Nginx doesn't resolve the link. • Changing the name of a binary packaged application and its evoking command

  I have taken the source code of a large project, App A, and made many modifications to it to produce my version, App B. Both App A and App B compile cleanly on Debian and Red Hat and now I would like to build binary packages for both platforms. The last modification I need to make is ensuring App B can be installed alongside App A without any interference. I should be able to evoke both application-a and application-b in the terminal and have both be listed as separate software in whatever desktop environment is present. The projects have a debian/ folder (containing rules, control, etc.) and an rpm/ folder containing a SPEC file. Currently, building and installing the .rpm and .deb packages works except that App B is recognized as App A and therefore does not meet the aforementioned requirements. ldd shows the programs have the same exact dependencies and I am not able to pursue static linking of libraries. What modifications do I need to make to my project to achieve the desired outcome? Please be specific as I do not have much experience with the packaging process.

  I've got Debian server with one disk. No dual boot or anything fancy. Just Debian 6.0 (Squeeze). I rebooted the server today and now it doesn't boot. I get the following (from GRUB): error: hd0,msdos out of disk I then get a grub prompt grub rescue> I've been googling for ages with no luck. /etc/fstab > #/etc/fstab: static file system information. > # > # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass> > aufs / aufs rw 0 0 > tmpfs /tmp tmpfs nosuid,nodev 0 0 I've run debian rescue mode and looked through the syslog. • Configuring two subnets with two NICS. Access from a NAS to the internet

  I am having trouble configuring my NAS. I have a DSL router with WIFI (192.168.1.1) in my flatmates room. In my room I have a server with two NICS: 1) wlan0 (192.168.1.2) that connects to the DSL router via wireless 2) em1 (192.168.0.1) that connects to the NAS (192.168.0.20) with a crossover cable. I have Fedora 17 and I have enable packet forwarding. My IP configuration is as follows: WLAN0 inet 192.168.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255 EM1 inet 192.168.1.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255 My routing table looks like: Destination Gateway G enmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 wlan0 192.168.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 em1 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 wlan0 I have enable a static route in the DSL server: Status Network Destination Subnet Mask Interface Gateway Remove Edit Active 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0 LAN 192.168.1.2 From my server I can ping the DSL router and the NAS. From the NAS I can ping both NICS of the server. However the NAS is unable to ping the DSL router or any address in the Internet. Any idea of what is wrong. Thank you in advance

• SSH very slow when connecting from external [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: ssh delay when connecting We have a CentOS server that we use for internal testing purposes, which has sshd enabled. When I (as a developer) am at the company, I use ssh [email protected] to connect to it - and it works flawlessly. Now, in order to work from home, accessing the server via the company's static IP, we set up another port for ssh, 2020. So I execute ssh -p 2020 [email protected] and am immediately granted for a password. After entering the password, it takes up to 30 seconds until I can access the server. Same is with SFTP (i.e. uploading files takes about 30 seconds until it begins to transfer). As you can imagine, if you have to regularly upload files to a webserver via SFTP, this is very tedious. So I looked at similar questions and thus edited the sshd_config file on the server, setting UseDNS to "no" and GSSAPIAuthentication to "no" (this one also in ssh_config on the client) - it did not work.. Please have a look at the -vvv output when externally accessing the server: ssh -p 2020 -vvv [email protected] PasteBin: ssh What could it be? Do you need more info?

• SSH access to VM on windows 8 hyper-v

  I'm currently attending University and prefer a Linux environment to do much of my work, but all I have is a ThinkPad running Windows 8 Pro. Cygwin is nice, but it leaves me missing things like apt-get. My latest solution is to run an Ubuntu 12.04 VM with Windows 8's Client Hyper-V and use Cygwin for SSH access. I've looked everywhere online trying to set this up, but I haven't found much help. I've done this before using VirtualBox, so I figured this would be possible as well. Could anyone provide advice for setting up this environment? I'm completely uninitiated to Linux networking, virtual networking, and... pretty much all networking configuration, so this has been quite a challenge for me. What I've done so far: Created an external virtual switch to my wireless NIC. With this, I could successfully SSH to the VM with the leased IP address. But without a static IP, I would soon get disconnected. Created an internal virtual switch and attempt to "share" my main internet connection. (I was following the description on this page) Thank you all in advance!

• drawing thick, textured lines in OpenGL

  I need to draw thick textured line segments in OpenGL. Actually I need curves made out of short line segments. Here is what I have: In the upper left is an example of two connected line segments. The second image shows once the lines are given width, they overlap. If I apply a texture that uses translucency, the overlap looks terrible. The third image shows that both lines are shortened by half the amount necessary to make the thick line corners just touch. This way I can fill the space between the lines with a triangle. On the right you can see this works well (ignore the horizontal line when the crappy texture repeats). But it doesn't always work well. In the bottom left the curve is made of many short line segments. Note the incorrect texture application. My program is written in Java, making use of the LWJGL OpenGL binding (and minor use of Slick, a 2D helper framework). I've made a zip file that contains an executable JAR so you can easily see the problem. It also has the Java code (there is only one source file) and an Eclipse project, so you can instantly run it through Eclipse and hack at it if you like. Here she is: http://n4te.com/temp/lines.zip To run, execute "java -jar lines.jar". You may need "-Djava.library.path=." before -jar if you are not on Windows. Press space to toggle texture/wireframe. The wireframe only shows the line segments, the triangle between them isn't drawn. I don't need to draw arbitrary lines, just bezier curves similar to what you see in the program. Sorry the code is a bit messy, once I have a solution I will refactor. I have investigated using GLUtessellator. It greatly simplified construction of the line, but I found that applying the texture was perfect. It worked most of the time (top image below), but long vertical curves would have severe texture distortion (bottom image below): This turned out to be much easier to code, but in the end worse than my approach. I believe what I'm trying to do is called "line tessellation" or "stroke tessellation". I assume this has been solved already? Is there standard code I can leverage? Otherwise, how can I fix my code so that the texture does not freak out on short, vertical curves?

• Combining mousedown and mousemove events together with Javascript (JQUERY?)

  Dear experts, I would like to combine a the mousedown and mousemove and mouseup events together. Basically the application of this would be making a UI for selecting elements. Like selecting icons in windows when the mouse is clicked down and as you move it, a dotted border dynamically moves with it. I know this is possible with the predefined UI of Jquery. But I am building a web application that requires the integration of this and would like to know the technique. The borders does not move dynamically as expected. Maybe my logic is entirely messed up. If anyone could point me the the right direction that would be great. THanks in advance.

• WPF - Overlapping Custom Tabs in a TabControl and ZIndex

  Problem I have a custom tab control using Chrome-shaped tabs that binds to a ViewModel. Because of the shape, the edges overlap a bit. I have a function that sets the tabItem's ZIndex on TabControl_SelectionChanged which works fine for selecting tabs, and dragging/dropping tabs, however when I Add or Close a tab via a Relay Command I am getting unusual results. Does anyone have any ideas? I know some of the changes are in effect because if none of them were working then the tab edges would be reversed (the right tabs would be drawn on top of the left ones). Clicking a tab will correctly set the zindex of all tabs (including the one that should be drawn on top) and dragging/dropping them to rearrange them also renders correctly (which removes and reinserts the tab item). The only difference I can think of is I am using the MVVM design pattern and the buttons that Add/Close tabs are relay commands. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how I can fix it?? p.s. I did try setting a ZIndex in my ViewModel and binding to it, however the same thing happens when adding/removing tabs via the relay command. EDIT: Being a new user I couldn't post images and could only post 1 link. Images just show a picture of what the tags render as after each scenario. Adding more then 1 at a time will not reset the zindex of other recently-added tabs so they go behind the tab on the Right, and closing tabs does not correctly render the ZIndex of the SelectedTab that replaces it and it shows up behind the tab on its right.

• Silverlight and Unexpected Font Sizes

  Someone please teach me to fish here... I'm just learning Silverlight and have ran into a few situations where the font size actually used is drastically different than I would expect. There's probably something conceptual that I'm missing. Case A In one instance, I have defined a user control that presents a Label to show text. If one clicks on the label, the label (that is in a stack panel, in the user control) is replaced with a TextBox. When used at the top of a page (as in the example below with lblName) the label text is very small (around 8 points). When clicked on, the text box that replaces the label uses the specified fonts size. • WpfToolkit DataGrid does not work in Windows Phone 7

  I am trying to use WpfToolkit DataGrid in Windows Phone 7 project (Silverligt 4) and it's not working. The best clue I got so far is from Visual Studio Designer. Once I add wtk:DataGrid to the control the visual designer does not load and below is the exception it displays. Could it be that WpfToolkit relies on PresentationFramework.dll and it's not available in SL4?   Hi all, I am working on a system that provides a soap interface. One of the systems that are going to use the interface is coded in Delphi 7. The web service is developed with WCF, basic http binding, SOAP 1.1. If I use SOAP UI (JAVA), the service works properly. Gefunden wurde "Element "NS2:GetCustomerRequest" aus Namespace "http://services.xxx.de/xxx"". Zeile 1, Position 599. Means something like The Body was expected. But instead the Element "NS2:GetCustomerReques" was found. Now my questions is: Can I somehow change the way Delphi creates the envelope? Or are the ways to make WCF work with such message formats? Any help is greatly appreciated!

• How to use SQL file streaming win32 API and support WCF streaming

  I'm using Sql server file stream type to store large files in the backend. I'm trying to use WCf to stream the file across to the clients. I'm able to get the handle to the file using SQLFileStream (API). I then try to return this stream. I have implemenetd data chunking on the client side to retrive the data from the stream. I'm able to do it for regular filestream and memory stream. Also if i convert then sqlfilestream in to memorystream that also works. The only think that doesn't work is when I try to return sqlfilestream. What am I doing wrong. I have tried both nettcpbinding with streaming enabled and http binding with MTOM encoding. This is the error message am getting : Socket connection was aborted. This could be caused by an error processing your mesage or a receive timeout being exceeded by the remote host, or an underlying network issue.. Local socket timneout was 00:09:59.... • WPF Memory Leak

  I have an WPF form that I myself did not create, so I am not very good at WPF. It is leaking badly though, up to 400 MB and closing the form does not help. The problem lies in my application loading all the pictures at once. I would like to only load the ones visible at the moment. It is about 300 pictures and they are a bit large so my WPF-form suffers from loading them all. I have a DataTemplate with my own type that has a property Thumbnail. • Session Id in url and/or cookie? [closed]

  Most people advice against rewriting every (internal) url to include the sessionId (both GET and POST). The standard argument against it seems to be:   If an attacker gets hold of the sessionId, they can hijack the session.   With the sessionId in the url, it easily leaks to the attacker (by referer etc.) But what if you put the sessionId in both an (encrypted) cookie and the url. if the sessionId in either the cookie or the url is missing or if they do not match, decline the request. Let's pretend the website in question is free of xss holes, the cookie encryption is strong enough, etc. etc. Then what is the increased risk of rewriting every url to include the sessionId? UPDATE: @Casper That is a very good point. so up to now there are 2 reasons: bad for search engines / SEO if used in public part of the website can cause trouble when users post an url with a session Id on a forum, send it trough email or bookmark the page apart from the:   It increases the security risk, but it is not clear what the increased risk is. some background info: I've a website that offers blog-like service to travellers. I cannot be sure cookies work nor can I require cookies to work. Most computers in internet cafes are old and not (even close to) up-to-date. The user has no control over them and the connection can be very unreliable for some more 'off the beaten path' locations. Binding the session to an IP-address is not possible, some places use load-balancing proxies with multiple IP addresses. (and from China there is The Great Firewall). Upon receiving the first cookie back, I flag cookies as mandatory. However, if the cookie was flagged as mandatory but not there, I ask for their password once more, knowing their session from the url. (Also cookies have a 1 time token in them, but that's not the point of this question). UPDATE 2: The conclusion seems to be that there are no extra *security* issues when you expose you session id trough the URL while also keeping a copy of the session id in an encrypted cookie. Do not hesitate to add additional information about any possible security implications

I want to load a child window upon clicking a button with some data that I retrieve from a server-side query to the database. The Process The first part of this process involves two load operations to load separate data from 2 tables. The next part of the process involves combining those lists of data to display in a listbox. The Problem The problem with this is that the first two asynchronous load operations haven't returned the data by the time the section of code to combine these lists of data is reached, thus result in a null value exception..... I would like to do the same thing without using inner classes. • PopulateOnDemand does not work on data bound ASP.Net TreeView

  Hi, I have a TreeView that is bound to a XmlDataSource control. I've added some TreeNodeBinding elements to define how I want the XML data to be shown. I have also added PopulateOnDemand=true to these TreeNodeBindings. However, doing so didn't change a thing and the entire XML tree is displayed. Moreover, the TreeNodePopulate event is not fired on node expand as well. Important information: I'm using ASP.NET 4. I tried to put a breakpoint within the TreeView1_TreeNodePopulate method and it was never hit. I also tried to: Set a TreeNodeBinding for each possible data member with PopulateOnDemand="true". Via code, go through all tree nodes and set their PopulateOnDemand property to true. Nothing worked. The only way the populate-on-demand thing worked was when I added nodes manually to the nodes instead of binding it to a data source. What am I doing wrong?

  My application works just fine until, in some unidentified conditions, it begins throwing this errors: When these errors start appearing, they appear in all over the application, no matter the code is built using ObjectDataSource or SqlDataSource. However, apparently, if the code uses some "classic", code-behind data-binding, that code does not throw errors (they do not show in the application event log), the page is displayed but it does not contain any data....   I am trying to migrate a small project, replacing some factories with Guice (it is my first Guice trial). However, I am stuck when trying to inject generics.
