  • RouterOS on Hyper-V (v3/2012) - any way to get it working?

    Trying to set up a small VPN point to connect into a remote Hyper-V cluster using ROuterOS. Anyone got it working ON Hyper-V with the latest builds of RouterOS? It seems the legacy network adapter is not supported anymore either (or just broken). The platform is a Windows Server 2012 RC. This is not a high performance setup - the RouterOS wont do the routing for more than the backend administrative access, and the only real traffic we will see there is when ISO images for new operating systems are uploaded. Otherwise we will have possibly RDP traffic as well as web / http traffioc, but this is internal only (dashboards, some control panel). The server has no public business. So the price for non virtualized network cards is ok for me. After hooking up - ping just does not work. After some time I see in windows (arp -a on the command line), so I know that the Hyper-V side is set up properly. Just no packets arrived. I have turned off all protection on Hyper-V (or : not turned them on), so no MAC spoofing protection etc. in the Advanced page for the legacy adapters. Unless I can get it work I will have to resort to using a windows install as router / VPN endpoint, which introduces another OS into the fabric (we run all routers etc. so far on mikrotik in hardware, which is why I want this one to be RouterOS, too). And no, putting hardware there is NOT an option - the cost would be significant.

And what I find suspicious is the following error in my app log: .NET Runtime Optimization Service (clr_optimization_v2.0.50727_32) - Failed to compile: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\Tools\VDT\DataProjects.dll . Error code = 0x8007000b In MS connect this is reported as a bug but MS is unable to reproduce the problem altough when you search the fora I'm not the only one with this problem. So any help is appreciated.

  • How do you import CA certificates onto an Android phone?

    Hi all, I want to connect to my University's wireless using my Nexus One. When I go to "Add Wi-Fi network" in Wireless Settings I fill in the Network SSID and select 802.1x Enterprise for the security and fill everything out. The problem is that our university's wireless uses Thawte Premium Server CA certificate for certification. When I click the drop down list for CA certificate I get nothing in the list (just N/A) Now I have the certificate (Thawte Premium Server CA.pem) and have moved it to my SD card, but it doesn't look like Android automatically detects it. Where should I put the certificate so that the Android wireless manager recognizes it. In other words, how can I import a CA certificate so that Android recognizes that it is on the phone and displays it in the CA Certificate drop down list. Thanks for any help, Tomek P.S. My phone is not rooted EDIT: After doing some research it looks like you are able to install certificates by going to your phone's settings Location & Security Install from SD card Unfortunately it looks like the only accepted file extension is .p12. It does not look like there is a way to import .cer or .pem files (which are the only two files that come with the Thawte certificates) at this moment. It does look like you can use a converter to convert your .cer or .pem files to .p12, however a key file is needed. https://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-converter.html I do not know where to get this key file for the Thawte certificates.

  • Configuring default gateway returned by dhcp server

    Hello, I have a machine which connects via ethernet to a private LAN, and wireless to a network which provides internet connectivity. The private LAN uses a wireless router to perform DHCP. The problem is that the wireless and NIC adapters have different default gateways. The default gateway for the private LAN has a lower adapter metric, and is thus chosen by the routing algorithm. I am thus unable to browse the internet when connected to both adapters. The following link has a solution for manually setting the adapter metric to a high number. http://superuser.com/questions/77822/how-to-tell-windows-7-to-ignore-a-default-gateway I was hoping to find a different solution. Does any one know of a router that allows you to configure its DHCP server to return an empty default gateway? I cannot find such an option for my linksys wrt300n. Configuring a static ip address with no default gateway does work, however I would like to use DHCP if possible. Does anyone know of a different way to specify a default gateway for a windows 7 machine with multiple network adapters without mucking with the adapter metric? Thanks, Matthew

    I am trying to setup Team Foundation Server 2010 on Windows Server 2008 R2 using a single server configuration. During the "Readiness Checks" phase of the configuration wizard, I am facing an issue that i preventing me from communicating with the domain controller (which is Windows Server 2000). [ System Checks ] TF255435: This computer is a member of an Active Directory domain, but the domain controllers are not accessible. Network problems might be preventing access to the domain. Verify that the network is operational, and then retry the readiness checks. Other options include configuring Team Foundation Server specifying a local account in the custom wizard or joining the computer to a workgroup. http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=164053&clcid=0x409 After reading the log file, the main issue I am encountering appears to be: The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed. (type SystemException) I have read in several other locations that the solution to this issue is to: Leave the domain Restart Join a workgroup Restart Rejoin the domain Unfortunately, I have tried this several times now and the issue persists. Is there anything I can try on the either the client machine or the domain controller that may help solve my issue?

    Can someone please help as i've spent all day trying to fix this. I installed the latest XAMPP and now i can't connect to mysql from terminal.I checked my .profile file and the PATH seems ok.   • OpenSolaris / Nexenta problems with NetXen 4-port NIC card (ntxn driver)

    Hello, I'm running NexentaStor Enterprise on an HP ProLiant DL180 G6 server. The onboard NIC interfaces surface as igb0 and igb1 and work well. However, I've added an HP NC375T 4-port network card using the NetXen 3031 chipset. This card should be handled by the ntxn driver in the SUNWntxn package, but that results in "ntxn0: failed to map doorbell" messages upon boot. The network interfaces don't show up. After some research, I found HP's driver package for the card. The release notes for the driver package state: This version of the Driver is supported only on Oracle Solaris 10 5/09 & 10/09. Oracle Solaris 10 5/09 & 10/09 contain an older version of NetXen P3 driver package called SUNWntxn. So, adding another version of NetXen P3 driver package using pkgadd command might result in conflicts with the NetXen driver binary & related files. Users are advised to uninstall native SUNWntxn driver package before installing the new package.   • VirtualBox Issue: virtualbox changed my Computer Name's ip address in Windows

    I had installed virtualbox 4.2.2 in Windows 7. My Computer Name is: MY-PC My IP address (using ipconfig /all command) is: 192.168.1.101 My IP is dynamic and I set DNS to google dns (8.8.8.8) When I ping MY-PC, I got this result: Pinging MY-PC [192.168.56.1] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.56.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128 Reply from 192.168.56.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128 Reply from 192.168.56.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128 Reply from 192.168.56.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128 My virtualbox was not running and I expected the ip adress of MY-PC is 192.168.1.101, not 192.168.56.1 Then I run command: nbtstat -a MY-PC and I got this result: VirtualBox Host-Only Network: Node IpAddress: [192.168.56.1] Scope Id: [] NetBIOS Remote Machine Name Table Name Type Status --------------------------------------------- MY-PC <00> UNIQUE Registered WORKGROUP <00> GROUP Registered MY-PC <20> UNIQUE Registered MAC Address = 08-00-27-00-60-B3 Local Area Connection: Node IpAddress: [0.0.0.0] Scope Id: [] Host not found.   • Samba: share home directories when home directories are symbolic links

    I have set up a new Ubuntu 9.10 system for five users. In the system is a large LVM volume where all the data is to be kept. The main system disk is not for this purpose, so I attempted to move the home directories using usermod -d /var/data/username -m And started creating my shares for these new home locations. But then I thought: hey, Samba has built-in home directory sharing! So I enabled that, and it didn't work. The shares were not published to the network. Only the share for user 'owen' was published; his folder hadn't been moved. So I thought: maybe Samba home sharing only works for default home locations, so how about I move the home directories back to where they were, and then make them symlinks. root@boxenmkiv:/home# ls -l total 4 lrwxrwxrwx 1 brett brett 25 2010-04-03 08:48 brett -> /var/data/brett/ lrwxrwxrwx 1 carly carly 23 2010-04-03 08:48 carly -> /var/data/carly/ lrwxrwxrwx 1 dave dave 21 2010-04-03 08:48 dave -> /var/data/dave/ lrwxrwxrwx 1 kate kate 23 2010-04-03 08:47 kate -> /var/data/kate/ drwxr-xr-x 4 owen owen 4096 2010-04-03 08:44 owen Like so. Still no go. The only users share which is published to the network is 'owen' who as you can see above has not had his home directory moved. I have also added the following to my smb.conf [global] follow symlinks = yes wide symlinks = yes unix extensions = no With no luck. Am I going about doing this the entirely wrong way? Should I just give up and manually create shares for the users? Thanks in advance.

  • Cisco ASA Act as a Hardware Security Module?

    Hello, We have a partner that is requiring us to get a HSM for a web application that we host for them. This is something new for us, we've always installed our SSL certificates on our web servers and never needed a hardware device. We currently have 2 Cisco ASA 5510 firewalls in an active/standby configuration. Both ASAs have a ASA-SSM-10 security module installed in them. The web application is a standard HTTPS webpage with no authentication required. I was wondering if we could use our Cisco ASAs to meet this requirement or if we'll have to buy another device. I was doing some searching and read about Cisco's clientless webvpn feature. It sounds like it might work, but I'm not sure. We basically want the ASA to handle the SSL and proxy the connection to our web servers. We do not want to prompt for a username or password to connect or show any portals, just display the web page. If the ASA cannot do this, does any one have any recommendations for network attached hardware security modules? We are using VMware vCenter, so we'd rather have an external device attached to the network, rather than buying HSM cards for every ESXi host. Thanks, Derek
