  • Can extension methods be applied to interfaces?

    Hi, Is it possible to apply an extension method to an interface? (C# question) That is for example to achieve the following: create an ITopology interface create an extension method for this interface (e.g. public static int CountNodes(this ITopology topologyIf) ) then when creating a class (e.g. MyGraph) which implements ITopology, then it would automatically have the Count Nodes extension. This way the classes implementing the interface would not have to have a set class name to align with what was defined in the extension method.

    I have an app that allows a user to create new projects, and the search for them later. One of the options they have when creating a project is giving them start and end dates. At the moment all the code works properly for creating and searching on the dates, but I am now wanting to restrict what dates the user can enter. I am needing for an error to flag up when the user tries to enter an end date that is before the start date. It's really more for when the user is creating the project. Does it just pop the Activity off the Activity Stack, but wait to destroy the Activity object until the AsyncTask fully completes (since the AsyncTask is an inner class of my Activity)? Also, would it act any differently if the AsyncTask were a public, non-inner class that held no references to the instance of the Activity?

  • Why is javac 1.5 running so slowly compared with the Eclipse compiler?

    I have a Java Maven project with about 800 source files (some generated by javacc/JTB) which is taking a good 25 minutes to compile with javac. When I changed my pom.xml over to use the Eclipse compiler, it takes about 30 seconds to compile. Any suggestions as to why javac (1.5) is running so slowly? (I don't want to switch over to the Eclipse compiler permanently, as the plugin for Maven seems more than a little buggy.) I have a test case which easily reproduces the problem. The following code generates a number of source files in the default package.     In some languages where you cannot override the () operator, I have seen methods with a single underscore, usually for 'helper' classes. Something likes this: class D10 { public function _() { return rand(1,10); } } Is it better to have the function called Roll()? Is a underscore fine? After all, there is only one function, and it removes the need to look up the name of the class. Any thoughts?

    I've created a child class of QTreeWidget that I want to be able to drag items from another tree widget too (I want to handle the insertion myself though), as well as from a QListWidget. I've overridden the dropEvent method in my class, and it looks like the mimetype of the data I'm getting from my QTreeWidget is application/x-qabstractitemmodeldatalist, how can I decode this to get the items from the tree back out?

  • protobuf-net NOT faster than binary serialization?

    I wrote a program to serialize a 'Person' class using XMLSerializer, BinaryFormatter and ProtoBuf. I thought protobuf-net should be faster than the other two. Protobuf serialization was faster than XMLSerialization but much slower than the binary serialization. Is my understanding incorrect? Please make me understand this. Thank you for the help. Clearly, we also need to have the 'group on new'. Thanks for any assistance you can provide. (Note: removing the type (ViewA) from the constructor calls has no effect on the above)

  • breakpoint inside QComboBox subclass not working

    I have subclassed QComboBox to customize it for special needs. The subclass is used to promote QComboBoxes in a ui file from QtDesigner. Everything works except that when I put a break point in a slot, the program does not stop at the breakpoint. I do however know that it is being called from the result it generates. I checked other slots in my program and they work fine with breakpoints. Doing a clean and rebuild all did not fix it. What could be causing this and is there anything I can do about it? The slot in question is the only one in the subclass and is called "do_indexChanged()".
