  • Alternative to PuTTY Connection Manager?

    Development of the free application Putty Connection Manager that can display more than one Putty sessions stopped in 2009, and it sometimes triggers this error when I double-click on any host in the right hand-side list: PuTTY Connection Manager/An unexpected error occured : Object reference not set to an instance of an object.. When that happens, I have to reboot :-/ Does someone know of an alternative? Thank you.

    My user account on Win7 is part of the Administrators group which has a full control permissions on C:\inetpub\wwwroot: http://twio.cz/ac7p However, when I try to create a folder in it, I get the "access denied" error. This is fixed by adding my specific user account to the list but that shouldn't be necessary should it?

  • Using multiple accounts on Gmail on a Blackberry

    I love the whole "one inbox" concept on my blackberry. Facebook updates, SMS/MMS messages, and email all lands in the same list. Problem is they assume I have a simple Gmail account without multiple accounts. I have my Gmail account setup to receive email from ~15 different accounts. I assume a lot of tech people do something like this. How have you gotten around in?

  • Windows 7 Start Menu All Programs - display all folders, not just a single scrollable column

    In Windows 95/XP/Vista I could click on the start menu, "All Programs", and I would get a list of all my programs. In Windows 7 when I click start menu, "All Programs", I get a single column with a scroll bar - but that's not what I want, I want to see All Programs. How do I do this? I've looked in the start menu options but cannot find an option that appears to show me all my programs.

  • Has anyone gotten Plan9 working in VirtualBox?

    More than anything, I'm just curious to know if this is even possible, since Plan 9 isn't in the list of GuestOSes on the VirtualBox website. However, if someone out there has got it working, my specific question: Whenever I try to boot Plan9, either as a live cd or to install inside of VirtualBox, once the GUI loads all I get is a screen of garbage. I think I've tried just about every graphics driver combination at startup - specifically, even 640x480x8 in VESA mode didn't work. Any suggestions as to how I can load it?

  • RHEL 6.x on Rackspace Cloud and Dedicated hardware experiencing Redis Timeouts

    I just recently set up a mixture of RHEL 6.1 Rackspace cloud hosts and RHEL 6.2 dedicated hosts using Rackconnect. I am experiencing intermittent Redis timeouts from within our Rails 3.2.8 app with Redis 2.4.16 running on the RHEL 6.2 dedicated hosts. There is no network latency or packet loss. Also there are no errors on any interfaces on our cloud or dedicated servers or on the managed firewall from Rackspace. When Redis timesout, there is nothing logged within redis even though it is set up to do debug logging. The only error we receive is from Airbrake saying there was a Redis timeout.   • How to make Horde connect to mysql with UTF-8 character set?

    How to tell horde 3.3.11 to use UTF-8 for it's mysql connection? The $conf['sql']['charset'] only tells horde what is expected from the database. Horde uses MDB2 to connect to mysql. Is there way to force MDB2 or mysql character_set_client from php.ini? So far I found two workarounds: Force mysql to ignore character set requested by client [mysqld] skip-character-set-client-handshake=1 default-character-set=utf8 Force mysql to run SET NAMES utf8 on every connection [mysqld] init-connect='SET NAMES utf8' Both have drawbacks on multi user mysql server. The first disables converting character sets alltogether and the second one forces every connection to produce UTF-8. [EDIT] Found the problem. The 'charset' parameter was unset the last minute before sending to SQL backend. This is probably due to mysql not being able to digest utf-8 but utf8. Mysql specific mapping is required to make it work. I just worked around it by translating utf-8 - utf8.     I see that mailman can operate as gateway: Try mailman. Create a new list for each newsgroup that you read and then configure the lists as mail<-news gateways. Subscribe yourself to the lists. Viola. Instant NNTP-via-SMTP. http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2003/08/msg00522.html What alternatives are there to mailman for this functionality? I see that others have asked this, or something similar.
