  • Moq how do you test internal methods?

    Hi, Told by my boss to use Moq and that is it. I like it but it seems that unlike MSTest or mbunit etc... you cannot test internal methods So I am forced to make public some internal implementation in my interface so that i can test it.     I want to do something like this ffmpeg -i audio.mp3 -f flac - | oggenc2.exe - -o audio.ogg i know how to do ffmpeg -i audio.mp3 -f flac using the process class in .NET but how do i pipe it to oggenc2? Any example of how to do this (it doesnt need to be ffmpeg or oggenc2) would be fine.

  • Is daisy chaining xslt an accepted practice?

    I have a situation where I think I need to daisy chain my xslt transformation (i.e. that output of one xslt transform being input into another). The first transform is rather complex with lots of xsl:choice and ancestor xpaths. My thought is to transform the xml into xml that can then be easily transformed to html. My question is 'Is this standard practice or am I missing something?' Thanks in advance. Stephen

    In Scala, I can define a function with two parameter lists. def myAdd(x :Int)(y :Int) = x + y This makes it easy to define a partially applied function. val plusFive = myAdd(5) _ But, I can accomplish something similar by defining and returning a nested function. def myOtherAdd(x :Int) = { def f(y :Int) = x + y f _ } Cosmetically, I've moved the underscore, but this still feels like currying. val otherPlusFive = myOtherAdd(5) What criteria should I use to prefer one approach over the other?

  • Complementary language to learn after Python?

More specifically, something that does well the things that Python doesn't in general do as well. My first guess would be C/C++ since it's got easy extensibility with Python and because it offers generally better performance, but I'm wondering if Java or C# might be a better or at least equivalently good option with different up/downsides compared to C/C++.

  • Asynchronous vs Synchronous vs Threading in an iPhone App

    I'm in the design stage for an app which will utilize a REST web service and sort of have a dilemma in as far as using asynchronous vs synchronous vs threading. Here's the scenario. Say you have three options to drill down into, each one having its own REST-based resource. I can either lazily load each one with a synchronous request, but that'll block the UI and prevent the user from hitting a back navigation button while data is retrieved. This case applies almost anywhere except for when your application requires a login screen. I can't see any reason to use synchronous HTTP requests vs asynchronous because of that reason alone. The only time it makes sense is to have a worker thread make your synchronous request, and notify the main thread when the request is done. This will prevent the block. The question then is bench marking your code and seeing which has more overhead, a threaded synchronous request or an asynchronous request. The problem with asynchronous requests is you need to either setup a smart notification or delegate system as you can have multiple requests for multiple resources happening at any given time. The other problem with them is if I have a class, say a singleton which is handling all of my data, I can't use asynchronous requests in a getter method. Meaning the following won't go: - (NSArray *)users { if(users == nil) users = do_async_request // NO GOOD return users; } whereas the following: - (NSArray *)users { if(users == nil) users == do_sync_request // OK. return users; } You also might have priority. What I mean by priority is if you look at Apple's Mail application on the iPhone, you'll notice they first suck down your entire POP/IMAP tree before making a second request to retrieve the first 2 lines (the default) of your message. I suppose my question to you experts is this. When are you using asynchronous, synchronous, threads -- and when are you using either async/sync in a thread? What kind of delegation system do you have setup to know what to do when a async request completes? Are you prioritizing your async requests? There's a gamut of solutions to this all too common problem. It's simple to hack something out. The problem is, I don't want to hack and I want to have something that's simple and easy to maintain.

  • redirect prints to log file

    Okay. I have completed my first python program.It has around 1000 lines of code. During development I placed plenty of print stmt before running a command using os.system() say something like, print "running command",cmd os.system(cmd) Now I have completed the program.I thought about commenting them but redirecting all these unnecessary print (i can't remove all print stmt- since some provide useful info for user) into a log file will be more useful? Any tricks or tips.

  • facebook XFBML is not rendering in IE8

The odd part is that IE8 doesn't even report an error, WOW, and that is something. So right now im stuck with to nothing to work on or debug.     Trying to override a tostring in one of my classes. return string.Format(@" name = {0} ID = {1} sec nr = {2} acc nr = {3}", string, int, int ,int); // types But the thing is, the result isn't aligned when printed out: name = test ID = 42 sec nr = 11 acc nr = 55 Trying to add \n just prints it out without formating. Guessing it has something to do with @"" which I'm using for multi-lining. Would like it to print out : name = test ID = 42 sec nr = 11 acc nr = 55
