• google appengine local datastore integration testing with spring

  Hi all, I want to write some integration tests to see how my spring-managed DAO's behave when talking to the appengine datastore. Following the spring manual I will be providing my test-classes with the proper annotations: @RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class) @ContextConfiguration(locations = { "classpath:applicationContext.xml" }) After a lot of browsing I found this blog post dating back to august '09 from somebody doing exactly what I want to achieve. It involves writing a TestEnvironment class that implements ApiProxy.Environment plus talking to ApiProxyLocalImpl. However, if I look at the current docs (for version 1.3.1), it seems that this has been replaced by newing an instance of the framework provided LocalDatastoreServiceTestConfig which is passed to a LocalServiceTestHelper. It is too bad that the appengine docs don't show an example how to do this with JPA because then the spring wiring would be trivial. Trying to follow the route outlined in the blog posting has me running into a compiler messages telling me that classes such as ApiProxyLocalImpl are not visible by me. Hence, there must be a new way of doing it, which probably involves the LocalServiceTestHelper. My question: Does anybody know how? I know I will need to configure an EntityManagerFactory and provide it with the Datastore connection somehow... but how? :)

• NHibernate HiLo generation and SQL 2005/8 Schemas

  I have an issue on my hands that I've spent several days searching for an answer to no avail... We're using HiLo Id generation, and everything seems to be working fine, as long as the entity table is in the same schema as the hibernate_unique_key table. The table structure is pretty simple. I have my hi value table in the db as dbo.hibernate_unique_key. Several entity table are also in the dbo schema, and they work without issue. Then we have tables under the "Contact" schema (such as Contact.Person and Contact.Address). In the Person Mapping file: <class name="Person" table="Person" schema="Contact"> <id name="Id" unsaved-value="0"> <generator class="hilo"> <param name="max_lo">100</param> </generator> </id> ... When I try to insert a Person entity, I get an error of "Invalid object name 'Contact.hibernate_unique_key'. That error is certainly clear enough. So I add: <param name="schema">dbo</param> to my mapping file/generator element. Now, when the SessionFactory is built, I get a "An item with the same key has already been added." error. So now I'm a bit stuck. I can't leave the HiLo generator without a schema, because it picks up the schema from the Class, and I can't specify the schema because it's already been added (presumably because it's my "default_schema" as identified in my XML cfg file). Am I completely hosed here? Must I either A) Keep all my tables in the dbo schema or B) Create a separate HiLo Key table for each unique schema in the DB? Neither of those scenarios is particularly palatable for my application, so I'm hoping that I can "fix" my mapping files to address this issue.

  Is there any possibility to display selected item of the ComboBox (after popup closing) in a way that is different from its displaying in DropDown List (There are players number and name in the dropdown list, but after list closing I want to see only its number). How can I change a background for the player with some Flag? As far as I know, all of that can be done with triggers, but are they supported in Silverlight 4, VS2010, Silverlight Toolkit 4? • Why doesn't jquery .load() load a text file from an external website?

  In the example below, when I click the button, it says "Load was performed" but no text is shown. I have a clientaccesspolicy.xml in the root directory and am able to asynchronously load the same file from silverlight. So I would think I should be able to access from AJAX as well. • Error when instantiating .NET/COM interop class via classic ASP

  Hi all, I am having a problem when trying to instantiate a C# .NET class that's been exposed to COM in a classic ASP application. I've used tlbexp to generate a typelib and registered it in Component Services; now when trying to create the object as such: Server.CreateObject("The.Class.Name") I am getting the error: Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 80131534' Server.CreateObject Failed I've searched around online for information on this error, and found numerous discussions but no solution. The error code 0x80131534 apparently means "COR_E_TYPEINITIALIZATION, a type failed to initialize", which would suggest the problem would be in the constructor. The constructor of the class in question sets a private field to an instance of another class from the same assembly, and then reads some configuration settings from an XML file. This behaviour is unit tested and I've checked that the file exists; I can't see anything else that could be breaking in there. A few other points which may or may not be of use: A test .NET project referencing the DLL can instantiate the class just fine; however a test VB6 project referencing the TLB blows up with the same error. Both the DLL and the TLB are in the same location. This application is running locally, on Windows XP Professional SP3 and IIS 5.1. The .NET assembly is built with .NET Framework 2.0, although 3.5 is installed on the machine. I know other people who don't get this error on their builds, so I believe it may be something environmental. Any suggestions are welcome as I've been struggling to fix this for some time. • Change dynamic web reference from web./app.config

  I have a problem changing a dynamic web reference in the config file. Changing the url in the config file doesn't have any effect. I have to change the url in .settings and compile for it to change. I added the web reference using the wizard. Set the URL behavior to dynamic, which added the relevant XML tags in config file. In my solution I have the web API (web reference) in a separate project (class lib), so I referenced the project and copied the <applicationSettings> over. <applicationSettings> <StartupProject.Properties.Settings> <setting name="WebReference" serializeAs="String"> <value>http://someurl/somefile.asmx</value> </setting> </StartupProject.Properties.Settings> </applicationSettings> Note that it's <StartupProject.Properties.Settings> and not <WebRefProject.Properties.Settings>. Are there some limitations I'm not aware of or am I doing something wrong?

• Diffie-Hellman in Silverlight

  I am trying to devise a security scheme for encrypting the application level data between a silverlight client, and a php webservice that I created. Since I am dealing with a public website the information I am pulling from the service is public, but the information I'm submitting to the webservice is not public. There is also a back end to the website for administration, so naturally all application data being pushed and pulled from the webservice to the silverlight administration back end must also be encrypted. Silverlight does not support asymmetric encryption, which would work for the public website. Symmetric encryption would only work on the back end because users do not log in to the public website, so no password based keys could be derived. Still symmetric encryption would be great, but I cannot securely save the private key in the silverlight client. Because it would either have to be hardcoded or read from some kind of config file. None of that is considered secure. So... plan B. My final alternative would be then to implement the Diffie-Hellman algorithm, which supports symmetric encryption by means of key agreement. However Diffie-Hellman is vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks. In other words, there is no guarantee that either side is sure of each others identity, making it possible for communication to be intercepted and altered without the receiving party knowing about it. It is thus recommended to use a private shared key to encrypt the key agreement handshaking, so that the identity of either party is confirmed. This brings me back to my initial problem that resulted in me needing to use Diffie-Hellman, how can I use a private key in a silverlight client without hardcoding it either in the code or an xml file. I'm all out of love on this one... is there any answer to this?

• Environment variable in xcconfig won't expand in Settings.bundle/Root.plist

  I have defined my own environment variable in a .xcconfig file and based my configurations on that as described at http://www.silverchairsolutions.com/blog/2008/03/automating-cocoa-deployments-with-sparkle-and-xcode. My environment variable is indeed expanded in Info.plist but not in my Settings.bundle/Root.plist. Why won't it expand there? • Jasper report exports empty data in PDF format when there is more data

  I have a report to be exported in excel, pdf and word using jasper reports. I use xml file as the DataSource for the report, but when the data increases jasper report exports empty file in only for PDF format, when i reduce the data content it export the data available correctly. is there any limitation to pdf size? , how can we manage the size in jasper reports from java? • How do you handle key down events on Android? I am having issues making it work.

  For an Android program, I am having trouble handling key down and key up events, and the problem I am having with them can almost certainly be generalized to any sort of user input event. I am using Lunar Lander as one of my main learning devices as I make my first meaningful program, and I noticed that it was using onKeyDown as an overridden method to receive key down events, and it would call one of their more original methods doKeyDown. But when I tried to implement a very small version of my own onKeyDown overide and the actual handler that it calls, it didn't work. I would probably copy and paste my implementations of those two methods, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. You see, I ran the debugger and noticed that they were not getting called - at all. The same goes for my implementations of onKeyUp and the handler that it calls. Something is a little weird here, and when I tried to look at the Android documentation for it, that didn't help at all. I thought that if you had an overide for onKeyDown, then when a key was pressed during execution of the program, onKeyDown would be called as soon as reasonably possible. End of story. But apparently there's something more to it. Apparently you have to do something else somewhere - possibly in the XML when defining the layout or something - to make it work. But I do not know what, and I could not find what in their documentation. What's the secret to this? Thanks!

• How to forward a 'saved' request stream to another Action within the same controller?

  We have a need to chunk-up large http requests sent by our mobile devices. These smaller chunk streams are merged to a file on the server. Once all chunks are received we need a way to submit the saved merged request to an another method(Action) within the same controller that will process this large http request. How can this be done? The code we tried below results in the service hanging. • Can a WCF Service provide publish/subscribe activity to a Linux-based C++ client application?

  I have a WCF service written to provide certain functionality to intranet-based clients. This is easy when a client is running Windows. I want to implement the same functionality for my Windows clients that is available to my linux clients. My questions are? How can I communicate to a linux c++ based client (supporting callback operations for a publish subscribe) type situation? I am aware of using SOAP over the HTTPBinding but is that the only way (does not support callbacks I believe)? Would the same apply if I were using TCPBinding on the service-side? Currently, the service is set up using TCP but what are my options for the linux client communcation? I read somewhere that messages can also be sent (via webservices I believe) in XML rather than SOAP? Which would be a better approach or how to determine which is a better approach? I am trying to understand the options I would have for a WCF data service if I wanted to communicate with it from a linux client. I appreciate all your help. Thank You, Jeremy

One of '{WC[##other:"http://activemq.apache.org/schema/core"]}' is expected. When I take out the amq:persistenceAdapter element, it works fine. The same error happens no matter which persistence adapter I include in the body, e.g. jdbc, journal, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

• Dynamic controls not creating with RSS reader function

  Hello, I am working on a test project for an RSS reader. I am using Chilkat's module for .NET 3.5. What I am trying to do is this: For each item in the RSS feed, I want to dynamically create some controls (labels) that contain stuff like the title, the link and the publication date. The problem is that only the first control comes up "rssTitle", but not the rest and it's definitely not creating the rest, nor cycling through the RSS items. Any ideas where I'm wrong in my code?   Given a Java SE 6 client, I would like to provide a configurable back-end: either directly to a database or through a web service which connects to a centralized DB. To that end, I've created some JPA- and JAXB-annotated entity classes and a DAO interface in a POJO library like the following: public interface MyDaoInterface { public MyEntity doSomething(); } @javax.persistence.Entity @javax.xml.bind.annotation.XmlRootElement public class MyEntity { private int a; .... } Now, I would like to have my auto-generated web service stubs implement that interface and interact with my defined entity classes, rather than the generated classes provided via the JAX-B unmarshaller. So, the client-side pseudo code would be something like MyDaoInterface dao; if (usingWebservice) dao = new WebserviceDao(); else dao = new JpaDao(); MyEntity e = dao.doSomething(); Is this possible with JPA, JAXB, JAXWS? Is this even advisable? Currently we achieve this through a slow manual process of massaging code, copying generating classes, and doing other things that seem just plain wrong to me.
