• How to change an UILabel/UIFont's letter spacing?

  Hi, I've searched loads already and couldn't find an answer. I have a normal UILabel, defined this way: UILabel *totalColors = [[[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(5, 7, 120, 69)] autorelease]; totalColors.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", total]; totalColors.font = [UIFont fontWithName:@"Arial-BoldMT" size:60]; totalColors.textColor = [UIColor colorWithRed:221/255.0 green:221/255.0 blue:221/255.0 alpha:1.0]; totalColors.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; [self addSubview:totalColors]; And I wanted the horizontal spacing between letters, to be tighter, whilst mantaining the font size. I am doing it like this. I tried and fought with code but could get any results. Please help me out. I am really having no idea how this code will run.

  Hi Experts, I have problems with bindings. I want to use a UserControl (Intellibox from codeplex) but I only get error messages in the output window. Basically I have window grid ... stuff ... usercontrol (self written) ... stuff ... usercontrol (IntelliBox) In the Output window I get following stuff: System.Windows.Data Error: 4 : Cannot find source for binding with reference 'RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType='System.Windows.Controls.UserControl', AncestorLevel='1''. BindingExpression:Path=ShowResults; DataItem=null; target element is 'Popup' (Name='IntelliboxPopup1'); target property is 'IsOpen' (type 'Boolean') The binding in the IntelliBox control is defined as follows: {Binding Path=ShowResults, RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType={x:Type UserControl}}} I guess there is a problem, cause the nesting withing usercontrols - how to I get this error fixed? As result IEXPLORAR remain running. What is the problem? Of course it is possible to just kill the process like this: // Id of IEXPLORAR _ie.ProcessID Process.GetProcessById(_processId).Kill(); this._ie = null; But I don't really like this way... Any ideas?

  Hi all I have some troubles with ssl using httpclient on android i am trying to access public trusted certificate in details i want my app to trust all certificates. First i tried using this guide http://hc.apache.org/httpclient-3.x/sslguide.html on Desktop is working fine but on android i still got javax.net.ssl.SSLException: Not trusted server certificate. After searching in google i found some other examples how to enable ssl. http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/thread/62d856cdcfa9f16e - Working when i use URLConnection but with HttpClient still got the exception. http://www.discursive.com/books/cjcook/reference/http-webdav-sect-self-signed.html - on Desktop using jars from apache is working but in android using included in SDK classes can't make it work. • How to scroll to the bottom of a UITableView on the iPhone before the view appears

  I have a UITableView that is populated with cells of a variable height. I would like the table to scroll to the bottom when the view is pushed into view. I currently have the following function NSIndexPath *indexPath = [NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:[log count]-1 inSection:0]; [self.table scrollToRowAtIndexPath:indexPath atScrollPosition:UITableViewScrollPositionBottom animated:NO]; log is a mutable array containing the objects that make up the content of each cell. The above code works fine in viewDidAppear however this has the unfortunate side effect of displaying the top of the table when the view first appears and then jumping to the bottom. I would prefer it if the table view could be scrolled to the bottom before it appears. I tried the scroll in viewWillAppear and viewDidLoad but in both cases the data has not been loaded into the table yet and both throw an exception. Any guidance would be much appreciated, even if it's just a case of telling me what I have is all that is possible.

  I am trying to create a uitableviewcontroller as a modal viewcontroller to edit some settings. I am creating the tableviewcontroller in code and the thing i am struggling with currently is how to correctly add a navigation bar to the controller which will have a "Done" button on it that: a) doesnt appear on top of the tableview and b) does not scroll with the tableview?? This happens when i add the navbar to the contoller with: [self.view addSubview:navigationBar]; This adds a navbar to the controller which goes on top and obscures the tables first row and also scrolls with the view? I also thought about simply using a uiviewcontroller with a separate tableview however i like the funcitonality of automatically scrolling the tableview when editing a textfield that the tableviewcontroller gives you. Just cant figure how to setup this navbar?? thx

• Attempting to set a view's property results in an error: Request for Member … not a structure or …

  I've declared a property in a view (created by interface builder, if it matters) and am trying to set the value from the view's controller – like so: self.view.url = someURL; That gives this error: Request for Member 'url' in something not a structure or union I have included the header for the view in the controller's .m file, but I'm probably just doing something wrong, but I don't know what – any ideas? • UINavigationController leak/understanding popViewController

  Hello, I have a navigation controller and a table view. When someone click on the table view, I do the following: MyViewController *myViewController = [[MyViewController alloc] initWithImage:image]; [image release]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:myViewController animated:YES]; [myViewController release]; myViewController will retain the image. Now, if I go back and forth in the NavigationController, I get a leak because a new MyViewController gets created each time and apparently the popViewController doesn't release the myViewController. My question: Why doesn't popViewController release the controller? How should I handle that? Put the myViewController as a member of my class and check if it already exists instead of creating it each time? Thanks in advance for your help,

• iPhone: How to Get Basic Authentication to HTTPS Web Service Using NSURLCredential

  I am trying to call an https web service (RESTful) using basic authentication. It works fine if I put the credentials in the url itself but I would rather add it to the request so that the password does not appear, for instance in an exception. I am using the following code: NSURLCredential *credential = [NSURLCredential credentialWithUser:@"myuser" password:@"mypassword" persistence:NSURLCredentialPersistenceForSession]; NSURLProtectionSpace *protectionSpace = [[NSURLProtectionSpace alloc] initWithHost:@"example.com" port:443 protocol:@"https" realm:nil authenticationMethod:NSURLAuthenticationMethodHTTPBasic]; [[NSURLCredentialStorage sharedCredentialStorage] setDefaultCredential:credential forProtectionSpace:protectionSpace]; NSURLConnection *theConnection = [NSURLConnection connectionWithRequest:theRequest delegate:self]; but it does not work. The didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge delegate method gets called and I can add a credential there but ideally I would send it with the request. Any ideas?

  I want to write a page where user's can write a blog post and publish it to the blog. I've downloaded blog engine .NET and looked at the code and I like the way they do it, but it's completely an overkill of what I need. What I need is only a title, author, date, and the blog post it self. I don't even want users to post comments or anything like that. My approach is to save all those blog post information into an xml and then when a page loads it loops around those xml files to show the blog post. Is there a tutorial on how to do this online? Especially for doing blog posts.

  I'm trying to resize an image using stretchableImageWithLeftCapWidth: it works on the simulator, but on the device, vertical green bars appears. • C# Windows Live Messenger Connectivity?

  Hey there guys, I'm working on an IRC bot project, Trying to integrate Windows live into a bot, And have received messages sent to the channel. But the current problem is that the old messenger API that I had no longer works. And the current API i can only find information about addins (complicated for the end user to set up unless I make an installer), Or contact information. I would like my bot to be stand-alone (no messenger required) and have it log in it self, But I can not find information on the login process anywhere. Any ideas?

  I have a UITabBarController with a "More" tab whose color scheme I would like to modify. Navigation Controller Nav Bar Colors I've been able to change the background color of the "More" tab's UINavigationController by subclassing the UITabBarController and adding the following code to the ViewDidLoad method: UINavigationController *moreController = self.moreNavigationController; moreController.navigationBar.tintColor = [UIColor redColor]; I would also like to change the Nav controller's text color but have not been able to determine how to accomplish this. Table View Highlight Colors I'd like to disable or change the highlight color for the "More" tab's UITableView. I don't want to disable the ability to select, I just want to change or remove the blue highlight color. I see where I can change the SelectedTextColor property for a UITableViewCell's texLabel, but I'm unsure how or when this needs to be set given I'm not the table view's datasource. Edit View Nav Bar Color When the Edit button is selected, the nav bar at the top reverts to the basic blue color. Is there any way to access this nav bar to change its tint color?

One assembly,let's call it a "server", only adds data to the database using EF i.e. same model.Other assemblies (including the UI) both reads and writes the data.The changes made by server should immediately reflect in other assemblies. The database contains self referencing tables where each entity can have single OR no parent and (may be) some children. I want to use repository pattern which can also provide some mechanism to handle this hierarchical nature. I have already done reading on this on Code Project. It shares the same context(entities) everywhere. My question is - Should I share the same context everywhere? What are the advantages and disadvantages of doing that?

• WPF - DataGrid Column's ToolTip visibility based on the column's data length

  In my application, i have tried to implement the visibility of tooltip based on the dataGrid Column's text length by using a converter. I am facing some problems in displaying the toolTip text. In the ToolTip, TextBlock's text binding is not working. If its binded with some hard coded strings, it works fine. • MPMoviePlayerController on large videos causes massive memory spike, and a level 1 memory warning

  When viewing images my application hums along nicely with low memory consumption, once I try to watch a video using MPMoviePlayerController memory usage spikes way up, dwarfing the previous memory graph and if I play the video it causes a 'memory warning. Level=1' message. The video files (mp4) aren't even that big, 40MB or so, and it doesn't matter if I play the file streamed from a URL or loaded from a local file, actually the memory spike is even worse if I try to stream it.
