  I am trying a database app on Android. I want to use the SQLiteDatabase update(...) convenience method to update a record. Normally, for a WHERE clause of a single key this is working. Following code is working fine:- values.put("testname", "Quiz1"); mDB.update("Tests", values, "id=?", new String[]{"2"}); //this statement works However, I want to update a column in a table which has a combination of two keys as the unique identifier. I tried the following. This executes without exception, but nothing is updated. values.put("score", 60); mDB.update("Results", values, "studentid=? • Simplest method of hiding sensitive information

  What is the simplest way I can hide a sensitive identifier, while providing some equivalent means of identifying the data from outside? For example, lets say I have a database table with records and one of them is an sensitive ID field. ID 2A 1S etc... then I want to have a second record: ID PublicID 2A AXXX44328 1S KKKZJSAAS such that when I am given a PublicID I can always determine what ID it refers to: H(PublicID) = ID but nobody else is able to do so. I suspect this is like, encryption - with throwing away a public key?

  I have a view that contains a calculated column. Is there are a way to cast it as a CHAR or VARCHAR rather than a VARBINARY ? Obviously, I have tried using CAST(... as CHAR) but it gives an error. Here is a simple replicable example.   I have a wxWidgets application that has a wxStyledTextCtrl. But for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to get notified of modification events. I have the following code: void CMainWindow::OnDocumentModified(wxStyledTextEvent & event) { wxString msg; msg << event.GetModificationType(); wxMessageBox(msg); } This gets called for EVT_STC_MODIFIED. When I run the application and press a key, the message box displays 1040 and 8209. When I call SetText the same two messages are displayed. How can I differentiate between user events and programmatically-generated events?

• Sorting related objects in the Django Admin form interface

  I am looking to sort the related objects that show up when editing an object using the admin form. So for example, I would like to take the following object: class Person(models.Model): first_name = models.CharField( ... ) last_name = models.CharField( ... ) hero = models.ForeignKey( 'self', null=True, blank=True ) and edit the first name, last name and hero using the admin interface. I want to sort the objects as they show up in the drop down by last name, first name (ascending). How do I do that? Context I'm using Django v1.1. I started by looking for help in the django admin docs, but didn't find the solution As you can see in the example, the foreign key is pointing to itself, but I expect it would be the same as pointing to a different model object. Bonus points for being able to filter the related objects, too (eg~ only allow selecting a hero with the same first name)

• jQuery pagination go to page on input value change

  I'm creating some pagination for my website, and want to use an input-element to navigate between pages. Like the following example: The input would require the "return" key to be hit for the script to trigger. If the value entered is not within range and alert would trigger. e.g. If there was 32 pages, "Please enter a value between 1 and 32" Can this be done using jQuery or javascript, by detecting the value change within the range of pages and redirecting to that page? • Improving the performance of an nHibernate Data Access Layer.

  I am working on improving the performance of DataAccess Layer of an existing Asp.Net Web Application. The scenerios are. Its a web based application in Asp.Net. DataAccess layer is built using NHibernate 1.2 and exposed as WCF Service. The Entity class is marked with DataContract. Lazy loading is not used and because of the eager-fetching of the relations there is huge no of database objects are loaded in the memory. No of hits to the database is also high. For example I profiled the application using NHProfiler and there were about 50+ sql calls to load one of the Entity object using the primary key. I also can not change code much as its an existing live application with no NUnit test cases at all. Please can I get some suggestions here?

• Persistent SQL Table lock from C#

  I'm trying to create a persistent SQL (SQL Server 2005) lock on a table level. I'm not updating/querying the specified table, but I need to prevent a third party application from updating the locked table as a means to prevent transactions from being posted (the table I wish to lock is the key on their transaction that interferes with my processing). From my experience the table is only locked for the time a specific transaction is taking place. Any ideas? The 3rd party developer has logged this feature as an enhancement, but since they are in the middle of rolling out a major release I can expect to wait at least 6 months for this. I know that this isn't a great solution, since their software will fall over but it is of a critical enough nature that we're willing to live with the consequences.

I tried to copy only the new records from the remote_table by this query: SELECT * FROM [remote_DB].[LudanProjectManager].[dbo].Remote_table EXCEPT SELECT * FROM My_table It works OK but I get a duplicate primary key exception when changes have been made on the remote_table on the hours column. Can anyone think of a way to copy only the new records from remote_table and if changes has been made on old records, to identify them and update the my_table to correspond?

• Can someone tell me why my dataset wont save correctly to the database in simple winforms app?

  I have been struggling with this all day and I know it is probably something stupid. My code is below. If I call save then exit my program and start again I can save images to my events but if I just call save when I try to add an image and call save again I get a foreign key error. From what I know I thought my save method was updating the database from my dataset so the event associated with the image should exist. Anyway here is my save method... • Scripting vim to Run Perltidy on a Buffer

  At my current job, we have coding-style standards that are different from the ones I normally follow. Fortunately, we have a canned RC file for perltidy that I can apply to reformat files before I submit them to our review process. I have code for emacs that I use to run a command over a buffer and replace the buffer with the output, which I have adapted for this. But I sometimes alternate between emacs and vim, and would like to have the same capabilities there. I'm sure that this or something similar is simple and had been done and re-done many times over. But I've not had much luck finding any examples of vim-script that seem to do what I need. Which is, in essence, to be able to hit a key combo (like Ctrl-F6, what I use in emacs) and have the buffer be reformatted in-place by perltidy. While I'm a comfortable vim-user, I'm completely clueless at writing this sort of thing for vim.

• Update 2 table values in one query in LINQ

  Hello, I have 2 tables Table1 with columns [BId,Name,Amount] Table2 with columns [CId,BId, ExpenseType,Expense]. BId Is the foreign key in Table2. The Amount field in Table1 is always higher than Expense in Table2. I need to update the values of Amount (increase or decrease) based on value of Expense and I want to do it in single query in LINQ. Eg If the Expense has to be updated with 200, I would decrease(negate) Amount value with 200. If Expense is reduce to 100 then the Amount is increased by a value of 100. This comes up in an Android app where we need an array of 20 booleans to persist and the easiest way to do that is to write an integer or string to the key-value store.   Hello. 'Smart Tabs' concept allows to automatically insert tab character for block indentation and space characters for in-block formatting. It's described here. Unfortunately, Visual Studio's 'smart tabs' option in text editor settings just indents text on enter press. Same name, completely different and near useless thing :). So, maybe someone knows of a visual studio addin that can change how 'tab' key work so it will insert tab characters and space characters according to rules mentioned above? Any hints are welcome. Update: I need it for C++. According to comments, ReSharper can do something like this, but only for Basic and C#.

  In sublime text 2 you can multi select(cursor) lines by holding ctrl+alt+arrow key (up/down). In notepad++ you can accomplish the same thing by holding ctrl and clicking the additional lines(areas) you would like to edit. I figured I could use a autohotkey script to accomplish the same functionality. So I tried #IfWinActive, ahk_class Notepad++ ^!Down::^Click but each time that I try to load the script I get Error at Line 2 Line Text: ^Click Error: This line does not contain a recognized action the program will exit then I tried #IfWinActive, ahk_class Notepad++ ^!Down::send ^Click but that shows up as ETXClick in notepad++ What more do I need to get this script to work only for Notepad++

  Hi, I am developing a console application. This application generates a self signed certificate and installs it in the current machine's certificate store. The steps invlolved are :- Generate a certificate Create a pfx file Install the pfx file For these steps i would need a password for protecting the private key and the pfx file. However these passwords are used only during the execution of the exe. Should I auto generate a password using some random number generation algorithm or accept the password as input from the user?   I have 2 databases. One is properties and the other is dates. In dates I have associated the land_id and a date (In YYYYMMDD format) which means that the date is not available. I need to formulate a query that a user can specify a start and end date, and then choose a property for which dates are available (not in the date database). How do airline and hotel websites do this kind of logic? I was thinking about taking the date range and picking all days in between and doing a query where the dates do not match and ordering it by number of results, but I can see how that could easily turn into an intense query. • MSV1_0 Subauthentication Package Registration

  Hi; I'm trying to register a simple MSV1_0 subauthentication package for MS Windows Server 2003. I created a dll which implements required functions described in MSDN. I copied my dll to system32 folder. After that, I created a registry key Auth255 (I also tried Auth128) with a REG_SZ value ,which specifies my dll name, to this location; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0. I expect that it will create a test.txt file for debugging puposes when the dll is called, but it doesn't create the file. How can I make this work?
