  • automatic push to CDN deployment strategy

    Does anyone have ideas for a strategy to push content to a CDN upon deployment? The key issue I'm facing is that we have a site that is available in various contexts: local development, development server, staging, then finally live. The liver version of the site needs to load assets from a domain, which will be pointed to a CDN: assets.domain.com. However, we will have numerous references to the assets pointing to a relative folder, e.g. /images/ in css, possibly in js, and in HTML & source. Our new site will use capistrano for deployment and it may be that we can hook in another build tool (apache ant?) or some custom script to search / replace paths. I am wondering if anyone has had to deal with this issue before and what solutions you put in place to automate managing the CDN in terms of pushing content up to the CDN and managing html & css references to assets in the CDN.   • Working with the Grails g:timeZoneSelect tag?

    I am wanting to use the g:timeZoneSelect tag within my application, problem is im finding the resulting html select to be quite overwhelming. Over 600 options are being displayed, IMHO this is to much to display to the user. Maybe someone could point me to an example of a much more manageable list of timezones? Maybe you have seen a site that does timezone selection well? Im sure over 600 option is "technically" correct, but this will just look like noise to the user. The display value of the timezone is to long. E.g. "CST, Central Standard Time (South Australia/New South Wales) 9.5:30.0" Just "CST, Central Standard Time" or "Australia/Broken_Hill" would be better Is there a way to address these issues via tag attributes of some sort (cant find any in the docs) or config that I am unaware of? Or, is my best bet to wrap an html select within a custom tag lib and "roll my own" solution (Id prefer not to). Thanks

  • Javascript Global Variables Not Working as expected. Help?

    I am new to Javascript. I am facing a problem with global variables. I can't figure out that why the global variables are not working as the code looks ok. Please Help me solve this problem. I will breifly explain the code first.I have some text on a page which changes to text field when clicked. When I define the variables inside the functions body the code starts working fine. I need to know how i can direct the user to the NotFound view in my Controllers and how to render a specific "Return to Index" in each controller.   • JQuery $.ajax doesn't return anything, but only in Google Chrome!?

    Hi All, I'm hoping someone can help me with this as I'm at a loss. I'm trying to simply load a plain text file into a page at runtime using jquery- everything works fine in IE8 (8.0.7600.16385), Firefox 3.6.3, however in Google Chrome 5.0.375.55 the "data" comes back as nothing- i get an empty alert box.   • Override bits of a CSS class while inline?

    I have an html img that is being styled by a CSS class. I would like to override the width and height values used in that class under some circumstances. I'm building this img tag using something called a TagBuilder class, provided by Microsoft for the .Net system, which allows developers to assign attributes to an html element. In this case a CSS class has been assigned to the img tag, and I can assign width and height attributes individually, but they're not taking precedence over the values set in the CSS class. My tag looks like this currently: <img alt="my link" class="static" height="240" id="StaticImage" src="http://imageserver.com/myImage.jpg" width="240"> The static CSS class has width and height values of 300 each, and as you can see I'm trying to override them with 240. It's not working in this instance but can I do it without a second CSS class?

    Hey Everyone, For a long time I have been using XHTML1.1 because I thought I was cool (yeah right). However, today I read Ian Hickson's Article about how everyone uses the wrong MIME type with XHTML and it opened my eyes a lot. I happen to be one of those people who are serving XHTML with text/html MIME, because like a lot of people, W3C says its "ok" to serve it this way. At the top of that article he says that "now" he would serve it using the HTML5 doctype (!DOCTYPE HTML). What are your thoughts about doing this? If I did not use unsupported functionality, would it be ok? What would the MIME type be in this case? Thanks for any help, Metropolis

Graphviz (http://www.graphviz.org/) Boost Graph Library (http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_42_0/libs/graph/doc/index.html) Lemon (http://lemon.cs.elte.hu/trac/lemon) igraph (http://igraph.sourceforge.net/introduction.html) What it should do: draw a undirected network map come as header only or static lib for Windows the output format should be user editable Graphviz is the only one I tried so far, but I found no static lib for it, I failed to build it by my own and the documentation could be better.     If I have two forms: class ContactForm(forms.Form): name = forms.CharField() message = forms.CharField(widget=forms.Textarea) class SocialForm(forms.Form): name = forms.CharField() message = forms.CharField(widget=forms.Textarea) and wanted to use a class based view, and send both forms to the template, is that even possible? class TestView(FormView): template_name = 'contact.html' form_class = ContactForm It seems the FormView can only accept one form at a time. In function based view though I can easily send two forms to my template and retrieve the content of both within the request.POST back. variables = {'contact_form':contact_form, 'social_form':social_form } return render(request, 'discussion.html', variables) Is this a limitation of using class based view (generic views)?   • ASP.NET Build Images Links Dynamically

    Good Day, I am developing a website that has product images on an external server. I have code that tests to see if the image exists like (pseudo code): DynamicString = FunctionThatCreatesDynamicString() ' DynamicString = "http://external_server/path/to/file1.jpg" If ImageExists(DyanmicString) = StatusCode.200 Then ' Embed link in ASP.NET page Else ' Embed not found image in ASP.NET page End If My code builds fine and appears to execute. The problem occurs when I attempt to view the external link in a browser, the image appears properly (I have to authenticate first, but that's OK considering I'm on an internal network and this app will be used internally). However, when I attempt the view the source in my generated HTML page, I am seeing the image to the "Not Found" image when I know the image is there. I compared all the characters in my dynamically assembled to the external link and all the characters are matching up correctly. I'm wondering if the authentication has anything to do with why the image is not rendering properly on my rendered HTML. Any thoughts? TIA, coson

    I'm trying to compile a simple example of generic classes / type patterns (see http://www.haskell.org/ghc/docs/latest/html/users_guide/generic-classes.html) in Haskell but it won't compile. Any ideas about what's wrong with the code would be helpful.     Here's my situation: I'm writing an ASP.net MVC 1 website and I have a create/edit form that uses the default model binding to parse the form into a strongly typed complex object. The object I'm posting has a child collection of another complex type and the way I format my id's for the model binder is as follows: <div class="childContainer" > <!-- There's one of these for each property for each child collection item --> <%= Html.TextBox("ChildCollectionName[0].ChildPropertyName", /* blah blah */ ) %> <%= Html.TextBox("ChildCollectionName[0].OtherChildPropertyName", /* blah blah */ ) %> <!-- ... --> </div> This gets rendered as <div class="childContainer" > <input id="ChildCollectionName[0]_ChildPropertyName" ... /> <input id="ChildCollectionName[0]_OtherChildPropertyName" ... /> ... </div> <div class="childContainer" > <input id="ChildCollectionName[1]_ChildPropertyName" ... /> <input id="ChildCollectionName[1]_OtherChildPropertyName" ... /> ... </div> For each entry in the chlid collection. This collection is dynamically created in the form using jQuery, so entries can be added, removed etc. and whenever there's an operation on the collection I need to update the indexes so that it's bound correctly on the server side. What's the best way to replace all the html input id's when I'm updating the index within the child e.g. replace all [*] -- [N] where N is the correct index. using jQuery / JavaScript ? I have something coded now, but its buggy and I think there is a simpler solution. Also, if you have an easier way to identify the child collection I'll take any advice on that as well. Thanx!

There might be 100,000 records each month so this will become more slow as time will pass. Does splitting data into two table will solve the problem? What other indexes should be there?

    I am using nothing but raw Socket IO. There isn't one HttpURLConnection nor any http client libs in my project. When I run it through wireshark I see somethign very revealing: GET / HTTP/1.1 User-Agent: Java/1.6.0_15 Host: www.google.com Accept: text/html, image/gif, image/jpeg, *; q=.2, */*; q=.2 Connection: keep-alive Here is the crazy part, I never put ANY of that in my original request.   • JSon/Jquery request with a setTimeout always returns a "null" result? (for Twitter Search API)

    I make a call to the twitter API. 100 posts are retreived + a properties that tells me what the next page to call is. So I wait 5 sec. and call that next page, but the JSon results in the callback function is always null the second time... I think it's probably a JQuery problem...     Hello, I'm attempting to utilize the socket.h functions within Windows. Essentially, I'm currently looking at the sample code at http://beej.us/guide/bgnet/output/html/multipage/clientserver.html#datagram. I understand that socket.h is a Unix function -- is there anyway I can easily emulate that environment while compiling this sample code? Does a different IDE / compiler change anything? Otherwise, I imagine that I need to utilize a virtualized Linux environment, which may be best anyways as the code will most likely be running in a UNIX environment. Thanks.
