• How do you redeploy javascript in Idea when using a Tomcat configuration

  I'm working on a java/javascript webapp that runs on tomcat. We're working with IDEA and I've managed to get debugging set up for both the client and server code at the same time, which is great. I did have hot redeployment of the javascript set up when running Tomcat manually, however I find when running Tomcat through IDEA this doesnt work as it's setting stuff up somewhere in my users folder. I was going to just set up a deployment configuration to go to that folder but I can't see any of the javascript files in there. Is it possible to get the best of both worlds and have debugging and automatic deployment working together?

  Hello Everyone, After having a search around I could not find exactly what I want, I am looking to validate a form client side using the Jquery library and some form of validation plugin. I was hoping that some one could advise me on whether there are any validation plugins out there that do not use generic error messages, as my form is laid out with no room for these errors, and I also I want the validator to to for correct content as well. Basically I want to be able to check the field on each key press and blur and if the fields validates for it to gain a green border, and if it does not validate for it to gain a red border, any one know of a plugin that can do this?   Hey all, I am new to web development and have this project in hand where in I have to build a product catalogue. I don't want any cart functionality or other such features, I just want to display the products,their specifications and images etc. on the website and give my client an admin panel to manage products. Now I looked into various PHP shopping cart scripts but couldn't find a way to remove price info from the display. I am not experienced enough in web development to make a product catalogue from scratch so if you guys could point me out in right direction I would be very grateful.   They seem to open in an internet explorer type window, does anyone know: How long have HTA files been around? Have they been around since Windows 98? Do they rely on Internet Explorer being installed, and/or a certain version of it? If you choose another browser on the browser selection screen update for Windows 7, will HTA files still work? Do HTA files open on other browsers? Are HTA files windows-only? There is a huge lack of documentation on google about HTA files, so it's tricky to work out. I need to present the client with a list of minimum requirements to ensure our HTA content CD will work.

• ESRI frameworks: java vs javascript

  I'm about to develop a web mapping application with ESRI Products like ArcGIS Server and Image Server. I can't find a good comparison between the Java Web ADF and the Javascript Framework. They're of course different because one is a full environment and the other is only client side but it's much more concise and the step to start is minimal. Another problem is that the Java Web ADF is not compatible with our current application server (JBoss 4.2.2) and require an old 4.0.2 version. Someone out there has experience that can help me? • LocalUser access for WCF hosted in IIS

  I have tried every combination to allow unauthenticated access to WCF as in "LocalUser" accounts, in IIS without success. Here is what I've most recently tried: wsHttpBinding with Message security and mode set to "None". IIS anonymous access enabled, all others disabled, folder level access at default (but granted read access to "Users" which is all users in our domain). I understand I may not have provided enough information to solve the issue, but perhaps somebody can point me in the right direction - is this likely to be a IIS configuration issue or a WCF configuration issue... if WCF, is it likely to be a client level or server level issue? The error I get when attempting to access here is "User is not authenticated". We have ASMX services in the domain which are behaving properly, I am the first developer using WCF here.

• DDMS Not Showing Threads From Device

  I'd like to check for memory leaks in my Android app using the DDMS feature in Eclipse. When I launch an emulated device, the threads display properly for the emulated device, starting with 8600 and up. However, when I connect my Droid to the PC, the device shows up just fine in DDMS. The logcat is generated correctly, and I can view the file structure. However, threads do not display. I get "no client selected" in the Threads pane, and there is no drop-down icon next to the device listing. Do I need to change some particular setting in Eclipse? Is this maybe a driver issue?

• Need help parsing file/writing script

  Hey all, I have been doing nothing but web development over the last few years and haven't written any Java or C++ in what feels like forever. I don't necessarily need to use these languages, so I'm entirely open to suggestion. I was given an email list by a client to import into their mailchimp account yesterday and unfortunately, Mailchimp couldn't read the file. It's a text file, but I don't believe it's tab delimited (which would make this much, much easier for me). A small portion of the file (I've changed last names and email addresses) can be viewed here: http://sparktoignite.com/patients.txt If anyone has suggestions on how I can get this into a Mailchimp readable format (csv, tab delimited txt, excel) please let me know. I feel like 3 years ago I would've been able to do this in a matter of minutes, but given that I haven't touched anything other than RoR, PHP, and jQuery for the last few years, I don't know where to start.   Hi, Want to create a directory on windows from a PHP script. My script is in www/Test directory of Apache and want to create a folder(fold1) inside www/downloads directory. Inside the script, using, $dirName = "../downloads/fold1"; mkdir("{$dirName}"); If we use the full path of dirName like C:\Apache\www\downloads\fold1, it works fine.   Is there any way to get mouse position relative to it's parent element? Let's say I have a structure: <div id="parent"> <span class="dot"></span> </div> When I bring my mouse over span element I need to get its position relative to its parent element (<div id="parent">). PageX/ClientX give me position relative to page/client area, so it's not working for me. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I like to work in a domain driven design way, so for example if I'm working with an invoicing system I have an object invoice which will have all methods on it to for example calculate total price from its invoice rows. public decimal Amount { get {return Entries.Sum(x => x.Amount);} } I like to have methods to add a new row to validate in data. public void AddInvoiceRow(Article article, decimal quantity) This is functionality I need on both client and server side. Have I missed something big or is RIA Services not for me? (In the whole, I don't like Silverlight restrictions at all, I mean that we need get; set on every data field we want to transfer for example some fields are not public at all in domain driven design but the technique Silverlight offers forcing us to do bad coding.)

  I want to put some compressed data into a remote repository. To put data on this repository I can only use a method that take the name of the resource and its content as a String. (like data.txt + "hello world"). The repository is moking a filesystem but is not, so I can not use File directly. I want to be able to do the following: client send to server a file 'data.txt' server compress 'data.txt' into a compressed file 'data.zip' server send a string representation of data.zip to the repository repository store data.zip client download from repository data.zip and his able to open it with its favorite zip tool The problem arise at step 3 when I try to get a string representation of my compressed file. Here is a sample class, using the zip*stream and that emulate the repository showcasing my problem. The created zip file is working, but after its 'serialization' it's get corrupted. • Unable to view dialog box in win ce

  I have a win32 application (over 100 source files large) which i need to port to Win CE. I disabled the unsupported functions (such as non client area functions) and compiled the code on a Win CE platform. Now when i run it on my hardware device, I was able to resize the first couple of dialog screens to show up satisfactorily on the LCD. However there is a dialog box that has 2 option buttons and opens a new dialog box based on the choice. I am unable to view the new dialog box. Also, the close (X) button of the parent dialog box is not there and instead shows a question mark (?). I tried resizing the dialog box in the win32 code's resource compiler and it still showed up fine thus telling me that the problem did not lie with the bitmaps. I think there might be some issue with hiding the first dialog box or opening 2 at the same time. please help me. I did not code the win32 version myself and hence i am unable to locate the problem.

• [java] Efficiency of while(true) ServerSocket Listen

  I am wondering if a typical while(true) ServerSocket listen loop takes an entire core to wait and accept a client connection (Even when implementing runnable and using Thread .start()) I am implementing a type of distributed computing cluster and each computer needs every core it has for computation. A Master node needs to communicate with these computers (invoking static methods that modify the algorithm's functioning). The reason I need to use sockets is due to the cross platform / cross language capabilities. In some cases, PHP will be invoking these java static methods. I used a java profiler (YourKit) and I can see my running ServerSocket listen thread and it never sleeps and it's always running. Is there a better approach to do what I want? Or, will the performance hit be negligible? Please, feel free to offer any suggestion if you can think of a better way (I've tried RMI, but it isn't supported cross-language. Thanks everyone

• WAMP Server not working

  Okay so a continuation from this question, where you experts intro'd me to WAMP, which can basically execute PHP within a Windows XP environment. So now I've got it installed, but the tray icon forever shows YELLOW, and when I visit any PHP page in my browser, it just shows me the PHP source! Also, when I visit "http://localhost/" in IE7 it gives me a 404 Not Found, FF3 just shows a blank page. BTW I've tried "Restart All Services" and restarting my machine, but it still won't work. Any ideas? Any of you had this problem and solved it? Please help me here, I'm desperate to execute PHP client-side and I'm just reverting to testing on-server for now!

  My ASP.NET application runs in IIS on my web server and uses Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Beta 2. (Its Application Pool is set to .NET Framework version .NET Framework v4.0.21006.) It gives this new error: A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client... This is due to a breaking change in .NET 4. To revert to the behavior of the ASP.NET 2.0 request validation feature, I added the following setting in the Web.config file: <httpRuntime requestValidationMode="2.0" /> Now Visual Studio 2008 throws a compile-time error: The 'requestValidationMode' attribute is not declared. And I can no longer debug on my development machine using the ASP.NET Development Server that comes with Visual Studio. I need Visual Studio and its ASP.NET Development Server to recognize the new .NET Framework 4 requestValidationMode attribute. How can I debug my application in .NET 4? Must I switch from Visual Studio 2008 to Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2?

• Standard Place for an Empty String Array in the JDK

  Hi is there a standard place for accessing empty array constants in the JDK 1.5. When I want to do a conversion from a String Collection (e.g. ArrayList)to a String Array I find myself using my own which is defined in my own Constants class: public static final String[] EMPTY_STRING_ARRAY = new String[0]; And then in my client code something like: String[] retVal = myStringList.toArray(Constants.EMPTY_STRING_ARRAY); return retVal; I was wondering if this is the "idiomatic" of doing it or if I'm missing something I get the impression from the brief search I did that this kind of thing is prevalent in many people's code. Any ideas, answers, comment (aside from that I shouldn't really use String Arrays) greatly appreciated, Cheers Simon

  I have a list of People and E-Mail addresses that my client would like to be able to download and then import into their GAL (Global Address List) in Outlook. Right now it is in a DataGrid. Several questions... Is that possible? What format do I need to put the list into so that it can be imported? How do I import it? • Why is the form action attribute empty on production server?

  After deploying a ASP.NET WebForms application to a production server some of the ajax calls has stopped working for me. After some debugging I found out that the following statement (in the internal client-method WebForm_DoCallback) was causing the problem: xmlRequest.open("POST", action, true); The problem seemed to be that the action-variable was empty so after checking the rendered html I found out that the form-tag rendered on the production server looks like: <form method="post" action="" id="Form1"> However, on my developer machine I get the following: <form method="post" action="default.aspx" id="Form1"> So, why would the action-attibute render on my dev.machine but not on the production server? This seems to be the case only for one specific web form, when I look on other pages the action-attribute renders correctly. Any suggestions or ideas would be helpful!

• Calculation with RESTful web service with MySQL database

  I am now making some RESTful web services with MySQL database. I used NetBeans to create the resources of RESTful service with MySQL, and now I can now use GET and POST/PUT to list and add/modify data entities in the MySQL server. Currently, I wish to make some calculations right after a client makes the POST activities, then the posted data with calculated results will be inserted into the MySQL database. I am very new to this, I guess I need to add some functions and call them to calculate but I don't know where and how to do that : ( Could any one help me on this issue? Thanks a lot in advance! : )
