  • How to prevent one account from unlocking products on other devices using Apple StoreKit?

    We are currently wrapping up a free-to-play game on iOS in which you can purchase non-consumable products. We have been discussing this case internally and are not quite sure what the best practices are as this is our first title. For example, if a user downloads our app, and makes some purchases. These can be restored should the app ever be deleted and reinstalled as long as the user uses the same Apple ID. What is to stop him from making a fake Apple account, purchasing items and then posting this account on the web allowing everyone to get the items for free? That is obviously a worst case situation. But a smaller case would be a user unlocking items for his friends. We do not want this to be an always online game but have considered doing a check on startup if there is internet available. If the currently logged in account doesn't own the products do we lock them again? Probably not because people may simply sign into the device with different Game Center logins at which point we don't want to constantly lock and unlock items. At some point we will be adding multiplayer at which point we can definately do a check with the currently logged in account. This is because A, they will be online when attempting multiplayer, and B, they will want to use their own account for multiplayer. Unfortunately we aren't quite ready for this yet. Has anyone tackled this issue. Are we overthinking here?

  • The Apple iPad &ndash; I&rsquo;m gonna get it!

    Ad:: SharePoint 2007 Training in .NET 3.5 technologies (more information). Well, heck, here comes another non-techie blogpost. You know I’m a geek, so I love gadgets! I found it RATHER interesting to see all the negative news on the blogosphere about the iPad. The main bitch points are - No Multi tasking No Flash Just a bigger iPhone. So here’s the deal! My view is, the above 3 are EXACTLY what I had personally hoped for in the Apple iPad. Before the release, I had gone on the record saying - “If the Apple Tablet is able to run full fledged iTunes (so I can get rid of iTunes on my desktop, I don’t like iTunes on Windows), can browse the net, can read PDFs, and will be under $1000, I’ll buy it”. Well, so, the released iPad wasn’t exactly like my dream tablet. The biggest downer IMO was it’s inability to run full iTunes. But, really, in retrospect, I like the newly released iPad. And here is why. No Multi tasking and No Flash, means much better battery life. Frankly, I rarely multi task on my laptop/desktop .. yeah I know my OS does .. but ME – I don’t multi task, and I don’t think you do either!! As I type this blogpost, I have a few windows running behind the scenes, but they are simply waiting for me to get back to them. The only thing truly running and I am making use of, other than this blogost, is media player playing some music – which the iPad can do. Also, I am logged into IM/Email – which again, iPad can do via notifications. It does the limited multitasking I need, without chewing down on batteries. Smart thinking, precisely the reason I love the iPhone. I don’t want a bulky battery consuming machine. Lack of flash? Okay sure, I can’t see Hulu on my iPad. That’s some loss. I can see youtube. Also, per Adobe I can’t see some porn sites, which I don’t want to see on my iPad. But, Flash is heavy. Especially flash video. My dream is to see silverlight run on the iPhone and iPad. No flash = not such a big loss. Speaking of battery life – 10 hours is plenty. I haven’t been away from electricity for that long usually, so I’m okay with charging it up when it runs low. It’s really not such a big deal honestly. Finally, eBook functionality – wow! I went on the record saying, eBook readers are not for me, but seriously, the iPad is perfect for my eBook needs at least. And as far it being just a bigger iPhone? I’ve always wanted a bigger iPhone, precisely for the eBook reading experience. I love my iPhone, I love the apps on it. The only thing that sucks about the iPhone is battery life, but other than that, it is the best gadget I have ever bought! And something that runs on mobile chips, is that thin, and those newly written apps .. mail, calendar .. I am very very excited to get my iPad, which will be the 64gig 3G version. The biggest plus in an iPad ……… no contract on data. I am *hoping*, this means that I can buy a SIM card in Europe, and use the iPad here. That would be killer awesome! But hey, if I had to pick downers in the iPad, they would be - - I wish they had a 128G Version. Now that we have a good video viewing machine, I know I’d chew up space quickly.- Sync over WIFI, seriously Apple.  Both for iPhone and iPad.- 3 month wait!!- Existing iPhone users should get a discount on the iPad data plan.   • How to add custom fields in WordPress "Add a New Post" page?

    Hello awesome people, I want to add a custom field on Add A New Post page. Like - if I am to make a plugin which will post links to Twitter after a new post is made, I would like to give ability to user to select if he wants to tweet that particular post's link to Twitter. I want to display a check box somewhere in the page which says - "Post this on Twitter" and then check for it and make a tweet. I have seen some plugins which do this. But can't remember which they were. Can someone please help me out?

  • Accessing original WordPress blog's DB from sub-blogs in network mode

    I'm helping with a university radio station website that runs WordPress and was recently switched over to Network (Multi-site/multi-user) mode by myself. The setup is as such: The parent site (www.stationID.com) runs a bunch of custom-built plugins to construct things like the show schedule calendar, the "Now Playing" widget, podcast list, et cetera. The new network websites ("wiki.stationID.com", "buddypress.stationID.com" for instance) run the same template as the parent site, but it stops after rendering the first section because the widgets from point 1 grab data from the main site's database that is not available to sub-blogs. My question is: how do I get data from the main site's tables on the sub-domain sub-blogs? A related question is: how do I set the $wpdb->prefix to be the same as the parent site on the child websites without it negatively effecting how the child website pulls data from its own database? Any help would be awesome, thanks!

  • x264 IDR access unit with a SPS and a PPS

    Hi All, I am trying to encode video in h.264 that when split with Apples HTTP Live Streaming tools media file segmenter will pass the media file validator I am getting two errors on the split MPEG-TS file WARNING: Media segment contains a video track but does not contain any IDR access unit with a SPS and a PPS. WARNING: 7 samples (17.073 %) do not have timestamps in track 257 (avc1). After hours of research I think the "IDR" warning relates to not having keyframes in the right place on the segmented MPEG-TS file so in my ffmpeg command I set -keyint_min 1 to ensure keyframes where at every frame, but this didn't work. Although it would be great to get an answer, if anyone can shed any light on what a "IDR access unit with a SPS and a PPS" is or what the timestamps warning means I would be very grateful, thanks.

    As you know iPhone plays video content from < video tags in full-screen mode via internal media player. Here I have several questions: 1) is it possible to show custom text over video playing? something like subtitles appeared during movie playback. I tried several solutions like http://blog.gingertech.net/2008/12/12/attaching-subtitles-to-html5-video/, but seems they are not working in iPhone case. Ideally, I want to add some div over media player and show necessary information there. 2) is there any way to disable controls of iPhone media player. Seams it is not metter if you add "controls" attrinbute to < video tag or don't add, iPhone always switch on controls for media player. The goal for me is do not allow to user to change playback possition(user should see full movie from start to finish. Of course user can stop the video, but he can't rewind a record) Thanks for your help.

  • Is it okay to programmatically create UITouch and UIEvent objects to emulate touch events?

    I want to simulate some touches on my UI, without using private API. So one simple way to do it is to simply call those -touchesBegan:withEvent:, -touchesMoved:withEvent:, -touchesEnded:WithEvent: and -touchesCancelled:withEvent: methods inside my custom controls. For that, I would have to create UITouch and UIEvent dummy objects with appropriate data inside. Is this fine with them? Or would they reject my app?

  • Wordpress form handling

    I need to add a basic form page in the website, that runs on WordPress framework. I have the following raw materials ready: Client side: html form layout,css and jquery validation code. Server side: form handler php function that processes the $_POST[] data. My problem is to integrate this code in the Wordpress framework. I have looked at some plugins but they are doing much more than I would like and also they have their own validation which is cumbersome to change. Could anyone suggest a good form plugin that allows just the framework hooks ? Or is it worthwhile that I should write the plugin myself. Thanks.

  • using WP_Query with custom SQL in wordpress

    Hi. I am writing a plugin for wordpress and I want to create my own search. I have tried to alter the wordpress search, but what I am doing is very specific with the SQL query. I am comparing lat and long coordinates and getting posts based on that. I can display posts by using the standard wpdb query, but then I don't get the other features like paging. I'd like to be able to use my SQL statement with the WP_Query function. If I'm right in thinking, I should then be able to use the paging and other features which come from the $posts global variable. Is this right?? I've googled for hours but can't find anything for plugins outside of using args to select categories etc. I simply need to send a complete SQL command - nothing else. Many thanks....

    In my Xcode project's plist file, I can see the value for the key CFBundleIdentifier is: com.mycompany.${PRODUCT_NAME:rfc1034identifier} Obviously I will have to change com.mycompany to the domain name of my company, but I have no idea whether the rfc1034identifier should be removed so that it becomes: com.mycompany.${PRODUCT_NAME} Google did not help answering my question. Does this rfc1034identifier affect the AppID that I should provide in the iPhone Developer program - Provisioning Portal?

  • iPhone autorotation for too many objects on screen

    Hi! I have a BlahAppDelegate, BlahViewController and no nibs in my iPhone app project. Only some subclasses of UIView in addition. All this is situated in main.m. My app has 6 subclassed UIViews. Each of it contains 18 UIImageViews. I need to get autorotating work. Or custom rotating. Or something. For example it would be nice to fade the screen out when device is rotated, then move/resize views and then fade screen out. But I don't know how to automate it, without writing a resizing code for each of objects. Please help me if you can.

    I have noted that when the iPhone OS receives a push notification, it considers that a user action to click on the action button as a "response" to the push notification for some indefinite period of time. If the user lets the push notification sit on screen for a number of seconds, or lets the phone go to sleep, the phone no longer considers the users action as a response to the push notification itself, and therefore does not launch the corresponding app. So my question is... does anyone know what the precise definition from the iPhone OS is as to how long the phone considers a push notification response to be corresponding to the push? Sorry, I can't find a great way to phrase this question, but I hope it makes sense. I'm guessing its something like 20 seconds from my testing, but I don't see this specifically documented anywhere.
