  • agility of asp.net MVC

    - by Hellnar
Hello I am wondering how agile (fast to develop yet stable) asp.net MVC compared to frameworks using dynamic languages such as Django or Ruby on Rails. I will be happy if you share you experiance in the name of development speed (assuming each language/framework is known at a similar level) Things I love about Django Fast model design thanks to ORM Good template system Not too hard to deploy Easy to extend Lots of free apps to plugin and great documentation Thanks

  • ASP.NET MVC redirect from asynchronous call

    - by Idsa
I send asynchronous call using jQuery form plugin and in the case of success want to redirect user to some "success-page". Now my ASP.NET MVC action just returns some special "success-JSON" and the user is redirected using Javascript. Is there any way to implement automatic redirect (without Javascript call)?

  • MVC and Pagination

    - by gms8994
As an MVC newb, I keep getting caught up in the details. One in particular is making me pause longer than I'd expect; pagination. Should pagination go in the model, or in the controller? In case it matters, I'm using ZF, and would like to paginate the results of some SQL data.

  • ASP.NET MVC Login ReturnUrl always NULL?

    - by aherrick
Using Forms Authentication in ASP.NET MVC when trying to log back into a site, it puts a ReturnUrl parameter in the query string. My Logon action method accepts a "returnUrl" string. However it seems that returnUrl string is always null, even when it is clearly in the query string. Any thoughts on why this might be the case or a possible fix?

  • Visual Studio Default Browser (MVC)

    - by Kirschstein
Possible Duplicate: Visual Studio opens default browser instead of IE I want to change the default browser used by Visual Studio for debugging. Normally the route I'd take to do this is right clicking on an .aspx file and setting the default from the 'browse with' dialog. Unfortunately, MVC views don't have the browse with option. What other ways can you set the default browser? EDIT: FireFox is set to my default browser in Windows, but VS still opens up IE.

Here is my code: public FileResult DownloadImagefilesAsZip() { using (var memoryStream = new MemoryStream()) { using (var zip = new ZipFile()) { zip.AddDirectory(Server.MapPath("/Images/")); zip.Save(memoryStream); return File(memoryStream, "gzip", "images.zip"); } } } When I run it I get a "Cannot access a closed Stream" error, and I'm not sure why.

  • Spring MVC Best Practice Handling Unrecoverable Exceptions In Controller

    - by jboyd
When you have a controller that does logic with services and DAO's that may throw an unrecoverable exception, what is the best practice in dealing with those method calls? Currently an app I'm working on has very lengthy try catch methods that simply err.out exception messages, this doesn't seem very robust and I think that this code smells, is there any cookie cutter best practice for handling this in spring-mvc?

  • Integrating Apache Shiro with ASP.NET MVC

    - by Garry Shutler
I'm looking at using Apache Shiro as a central authentication service for all our applications over a variety of platforms. It's hinted at that it can integrate with a variety of platforms which would be ideal for my purposes but I cannot find any examples of how this is achieved from .NET (ASP.NET MVC specifically if it makes any difference). Does anyone know where I can find an example of how to do this?
