  • how to set html table max-width?

    - by George2
Hello everyone, I have an html table, and one column (<td>) has long text, so I want to set the max-width of the column -- so that if text is longer than the max-width, the text could auto-wrap to next line. I have tried to use css max-width style on related TD element of the column, something like "max-width:100px", but it does not work (text still very long and not auto-wrap to next line if it is very long). Any ideas what is wrong or any solution reference code? I am using IE 8 on Windows 7. thanks in advance, George

  • DotNetNuke + XPath = Custom navigation menu DNNMenu HTML render

    - by Rui Santos
    I'm developing a skin for DotNetNuke 5 using the Component DNN Done Right menu by Mark Alan which uses XSL-T to convert the XML sitemap into an HTML navigation. The XML sitemap outputs the following structure: <Root > <root > <node id="40" text="Home" url="http://localhost/dnn/Home.aspx" enabled="1" selected="0" breadcrumb="0" first="1" last="0" only="0" depth="0" > <node id="58" text="Child1" url="http://localhost/dnn/Home/Child1.aspx" enabled="1" selected="0" breadcrumb="0" first="1" last="0" only="0" depth="1" > <keywords >Child1</keywords> <description >Child1</description> <node id="59" text="Child1 SubItem1" url="http://localhost/dnn/Home/Child1/Child1SubItem1.aspx" enabled="1" selected="0" breadcrumb="0" first="1" last="0" only="0" depth="2" > <keywords >Child1 SubItem1</keywords> <description >Child1 SubItem1</description> </node> <node id="60" text="Child1 SubItem2" url="http://localhost/dnn/Home/Child1/Child1SubItem2.aspx" enabled="1" selected="0" breadcrumb="0" first="0" last="0" only="0" depth="2" > <keywords >Child1 SubItem2</keywords> <description >Child1 SubItem2</description> </node> <node id="61" text="Child1 SubItem3" url="http://localhost/dnn/Home/Child1/Child1SubItem3.aspx" enabled="1" selected="0" breadcrumb="0" first="0" last="1" only="0" depth="2" > <keywords >Child1 SubItem3</keywords> <description >Child1 SubItem3</description> </node> </node> <node id="65" text="Child2" url="http://localhost/dnn/Home/Child2.aspx" enabled="1" selected="0" breadcrumb="0" first="0" last="1" only="0" depth="1" > <keywords >Child2</keywords> <description >Child2</description> <node id="66" text="Child2 SubItem1" url="http://localhost/dnn/Home/Child2/Child2SubItem1.aspx" enabled="1" selected="0" breadcrumb="0" first="1" last="0" only="0" depth="2" > <keywords >Child2 SubItem1</keywords> <description >Child2 SubItem1</description> </node> <node id="67" text="Child2 SubItem2" url="http://localhost/dnn/Home/Child2/Child2SubItem2.aspx" enabled="1" selected="0" breadcrumb="0" first="0" last="1" only="0" depth="2" > <keywords >Child2 SubItem2</keywords> <description >Child2 SubItem2</description> </node> </node> </node> </root> </Root> My Goal is to render this XML block into this HTML Navigation structure only using UL's LI's, etc.. <ul id="topnav"> <li> <a href="#" class="home">Home</a> <!-- Parent Node - Depth0 --> <div class="sub"> <ul> <li><h2><a href="#">Child1</a></h2></li> <!-- Parent Node 1 - Depth1 --> <li><a href="#">Child1 SubItem1</a></li> <!-- ChildNode - Depth2 --> <li><a href="#">Child1 SubItem2</a></li> <!-- ChildNode - Depth2 --> <li><a href="#">Child1 SubItem3</a></li ><!-- ChildNode - Depth2 --> </ul> <ul> <li><h2><a href="#">Child2</a></h2></li> <!-- Parent Node 2 - Depth1 --> <li><a href="#">Child2 SubItem1</a></li> <!-- ChildNode - Depth2 --> <li><a href="#">Child2 SubItem2</a></li> <!-- ChildNode - Depth2 --> </ul> </div> </li> </ul> Can anyone help with the XSL coding?   • Dynamically creating a treeview in HTML with indent lines in ASP.Net

    - by Ben
Hi, im quite new to HTML, and am trying to create a proffessional looking TreeView. I can not use the in built treeview in ASP.Net as i need to point the target of the selection to another frame (I have tried, and this doesn't seem possible). My treeview is built up as follows: Folder1 ChildOne ChildTwo ChildThree Folder2 ChildOne ChildTwo ChildThree I have the collapsing of the folders working, but would like to know how to format this treeview so it has dotted lines down to the child nodes (as most treeviews tend to have). How would i go about this? Cheers.

  • clear html webpage?

    - by noname
i am currently developing a crawler that crawls all links on the web and displays them in the web browser (and saving it of course). but after some hours there will be a huge list displayed on the web browser and i want to only display lets say 1000 links at the same time. then i clear the html and display another 1000 links. this is also good for the RAM or it will eat up all memory. how do i clear the web browser screen? EDIT: i have seen some scripts using some flush buffer functions. has this anything to do with my case?

  • Passing arguments and values form HTML to jQuery (events)

    - by Jaroslav Moravec
What is the practice to pass arguments from HTML to jQuery events function. For example getting id of row from db: <tr class="jq_killMe" id="thisItemId-id"> ... </tr> and jQuery: $(".jq_killMe").click(function () { var tmp = $(this).attr('id).split("-"); var id = tmp[0] // ... } What's the best practise, if I want to pass more than one argument? Is it better not to use jQuery? For example: <tr onclick="killMe('id')"> ... </tr> I didn't find the answer on my question, I will be glad even for links. Thanks.

    - by FelixM
I have a HTML table where some rows have a button like this: <td > <form action="..." method="GET"> <input type="submit" value="..."/> </form> </td> The rows with the input have about twice the height of other rows that have otherwise similar data. When I remove the just the input, the row height goes back to normal. I have the same behavior in Firefox and IE. Is there any way I can have normal row height AND the button?

  • Get HTML DOM with CSS

    - by 2x2p1p
    CSS can apply styles in elements through one ID, class or pseudo-selector, but I would like to get the HTML tree, something like in javascript: <script type = "text/javascript"> window.onload = function () { var div = document.getElementsByTagName ("div"); div[0].style.backgroundColor = "gray"; div[0].style.padding = "20px"; } </script> So for example: <style type = "text/css"> div[0] { /* Wrong but i tried :( */ background-color: gray; padding: 20px; } </style> <div > <div>...</div> </div> I'm tired of assign IDs to millions and millions of elements; is there a way to do this?

  • Headless HTML rendering to image on CentOS 5.4

    - by Jim Tough
Hello, I have a project requirement to render HTML and capture the rendered image as a file on a headless CentOS 5.4 server. My specific requirements are: 1) Input will be a URL to the page to render, output will be an image file containing the rendered image of the page 2) CSS must be supported by the renderer up to CSS level-1 3) Static images in the page must be displayed properly in the rendered image, including any transparent color in .GIF files 4) Must be able to run on a headless CentOS 5.4 server. 5) Solution must not depend on any product or component that is not free for commercial use I do not need to do anything with the page other than get the screen capture and save it to an image. The hard part seems to be doing this in a headless environment. Some of the solutions that I've seen discussed need a display in order to work. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Jim

  • Documents/links on preventing HTML form fiddling?

    - by larryq
Hi everyone, I'm using ASP.Net but my question is a little more general than that. I'm interested in reading about strategies to prevent users from fooling with their HTML form values and links in an attempt to update records that don't belong to them. For instance, if my application dealt with used cars and had links to add/remove inventory, which included as part of the URL the userid, what can I do to intercept attempts to munge the link and put someone else's ID in there? In this limited instance I can always run a check at the server to ensure that userid XYZ actually has rights to car ABC, but I was curious what other strategies are out there to keep the clever at bay. (Doing a checksum of the page, perhaps? Not sure.) Thanks for your input.

  • RegEx - Remove HTML hyperlinks based on the link text

    - by Rob
Hi, I have some text that has HTML hyper-links in it. I want to remove the hyperlinks, but only specific ones. e.g. I start with this: This is text <a href="link/to/somewhere">Link to Remove</a> and more text with another link <a href="/link/to/somewhere/else">Keep this link</a> I want to have: This is text and more text with another link <a href="/link/to/somewhere/else">Keep this link</a> I have this RegEx expression, <a\s[^>]*>.*?</a> ... but it matches ALL of the links. What do I need to add to that expression to match only the links with the link-text 'Remove' (for example) in it? thanks in advance.

  • CSS/HTML: Highlighting the "full width avaialble" to a list item

    - by JoshuaD
I'm working on a website for a small law office. In the side-menu, I'm trying to highlight the "current page". I have tried changing the background of the LI, but this doesn't quite do the trick; the list item doesn't spread to the full width of the menu, so it looks bad. Here's a jfiddle. I would like the yellow section to highlight like the pink section is highlighted: filling up the full vertical and horizontal space, not just highlighting the text. Any suggestions on how to do this? I've included the style tag in the html just for example, obviously, and my real solution will be a little different when it's done. But I can't move forward until I figure out how to somehow highlight the entire line.

    - by Amarsh
i have the following html code : <FORM name=frmmail> <input id="dochtmlContent" type="hidden" name="dochtmlContent" value="oldValue"/> <script>document.dochtmlContent="newValue"</script> </FORM> and later on in a javascrip function (which is called upn submit): alert(document.dochtmlContent); document.frmmail.method = "post"; document.frmmail.ENCTYPE = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; document.frmmail.action = "/myServlet"; document.frmmail.submit(); Basically, I am declaring a hiden variable, changing its value and submitting it. The issue is, while I see an alert box displaying "newValue", when I submit it, my servlet recieves the "oldValue" for the dochtmlContent parameter. Can someone suggest whats wrong here.

  • Which features do html form elements miss

    - by Bakhtiyor
I just wondered and wanted to gather together in one place all missing features of our beloved html form elements. One example could be missing of horizontal scrollbar in a listbox. But I am sure there are a lot of features we would like to see in our form elements by default. I order to be clear let's only take into account HTML4, because with HTML5 there are a lot of things haven't been finished yet. One missing feature per answer please. Thank you.

  • android html download and parse error

    - by Brahadeesh
I am trying to download the html file using the ul of the page. I am using Jsoup. This is my code: TextView ptext = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.pagetext); Document doc = null; try { doc = (Document) Jsoup.connect(mNewLinkUrl).get(); } catch (IOException e) { Log.d(TAG, e.toString()); e.printStackTrace(); } NodeList nl = doc.getElementsByTagName("meta"); Element meta = (Element) nl.item(0); String title = meta.attr("title"); ptext.append("\n" + mNewLinkUrl); When running it, I am getting an error saying attr is not defined for the type element. What have I done wrong? Pardon me if this seems trivial.

  • Maintaining white space in html select tag

    - by Marius
Hi, I have a list of strings that I would like to display in a HTML select object. The strings look something like : id - name - description I would like the fields to align however. In PHP I'm using sprintf ("%4s%10s%20s", $id, $name, $description); which works fine. The problem is the multiple spaces is compacted to 1 space in the select list. I tried using the pre and white-space CSS properties of the select box, but it has no effect. Any suggestions?

  • Contact Form Domain Blacklists (using java, html or php)

    - by Tim
I'm using HTML contact forms on a business site to post lead information to Salesforce. We're using auto-responders to deliver key information to people who complete a form asking for additional information. The goal is to reject forms that are submitted by competitors. It doesn't need to be bullet proof; the main idea is to reject and form that has an email address associated with a competitor's domain. Can anyone help? Thanks!

  • Nesting quotes in JavaScript/HTML

    - by Ryan Elkins
How do you nest quotes in HTML beyond the second level? As far as I know, there are only 2 types of quotes - single(') and double("). I am aware of escaping - you have to escape in the code but it converts the escaped quotes back to regular quotes when it hits the browser. What is the accepted method to get around something like the following? <p onclick="exampleFunc('<div id="divId"></div>');">Some Text</p> That code prints to the browser: ');"Some Text

  • Information sent in an HTML form

    - by dedalo
Hi, I've a HTML file that shows to the user the contents of a database (it is shown as a table). The user can choose one of the rows. When this is done the selection made by the user is sent to a servlet that will work with that information. Imagine that this servlet is going to look for files related to the information chosen by the user. What I'd like to do is to provide the user with the option of also choosing the number of files that are going to be looked for by the servlet. That way the user should be able to choose one of the rows shown in the table and should also be able of typing the numers of files that are to be looked for. So far I'm able to send to the servlet what the user chooses in the table, but I'd like to know if it is possible to attach to this information the number of files requested. Thanks

  • Html POST and return the same form with the values

    - by vtortola
Hi, I'm learning web development, and I don't know how do this simple thing. I've a html form with "text", "radio" and "checkbox" controls, that POST the values to the server and it saves them, for example in a file. I save the POST in raw format: key=value&key=value&key=value&key=value and I'd like that when the user open the form back, return the form with the saved values already in the controls. Is there any neat way to do this? Or should I parse the POST string and set the values one by one in the controls at the server level? I think, I could return the saved data in a hidden input control, and after with a javascript I could do a getElementById(key) and set the value to each input control... but do I need to put the post string in a special format? How would you do it? Thank you in advance.

  • HTML table with fixed cells size

    - by misha-moroshko
I have an HTML table which has equally divided rows and columns. I would like each cell to be of a fixed size, say 40px width and 30px height. When I change the size of the browser window, the cells size changes also. How can I prevent it ? I would expect to see the scroll bars if browser's window become too small. Is that right to set the height and the width of the cell in pixels ? Thanks !
