• Need help upgrading MacBookPro3,1 RAM to 4GB.

  My questions are: 1) Where to buy it and what to buy? I have heard that this RAM is generic enough and it does not have to come from Apple. 2) Can I reuse my existing stick(s)? Would I have a single 2GB module, or 2 x 1GB modules? 3) If I have 2GB already, is it a good idea to have one old stick and one new one? Which one is better placed at the top and which one at the bottom? Let me know what questions you have. • Help with restoring expired domain as quick as possible

  My domain name expired today (owing to missing credit card info, etc) and it is really important as the company has about 50 users who cannot access emails, website unreachable, etc. I have requested UKReg to bring the domains backup and running but they will take about 24 hours to get it back up and running. Is there anything that I can do to return the service back to normal quicker?

• Need help toubleshooting PC

  I have had problems since my dog pee'd on my computer. Problem: loads windows fine, at random intervals from 5 minutes to 30 minutes it restarts itself. There is nothing in the event log such as errors, no BSOD, just cold restart. after restarting - sometimes- it POST's and restarts itself at the end of POST. It will do this many times and then finally load windows. The cycle then begins again, it will restart eventually. What I have done: I thought it was HDD at first, since this is the only part of the computer which actually got wet with any fluid ( the case is off the PC and the dog pee'd down the front where the HDD is located). Seatool, the seagate HDD tool, found errors when I ran it inside windows, so I ran it in DOS mode from boo-table USB and ran it. It found the same number of errors and fixed them all. I ran the scan again and it says "Good". I loaded windows and ran the scan and it also said "Good there. So the HDD appears to be fine but the problem persists, random restarts. What else could this be? I have taken the computer apart and cleaned everything and also taken the PSU apart and cleaned it thoroughly. The problem still persists, what should my next steps be?

  Can anyone please, oh sweet pain, please take me out of my misery by writing a simple example on how the heck you pass a number (int value) which gets created in 1 .m file to another .m file. In the apple demo application called QuartzDemo, there is a file called QuartzImages.m This file has the following line of code: [CODE]CGPDFPageRef page = CGPDFDocumentGetPage(pdf, 1);[/CODE] Notice the (pdf, 1) in that line. This number should be replaced with an integer variable. Now, there is also a file called MainViewController.m. In that file, there is a method? called -(void)viewDidLoad In that method, I want to assign a number to the integer variable which would replace the damn "1" with whatever number I want. I have been pulling my hair trying to get this done, reading beginning iPhone 3 Development book, dev documentation and God knows what not, without results. Any help would be greatly appreciated... Sigh.

• Dead Linux server - need help and options

  All, I have a Dell PE 1950 w/ 2 SATA drives in a software RAID1. OS is CentOS 5.5 (2.6.18.x). Starting this afternoon we received HW errors (something on the bus is bad, E171F) and the machine became unresponsive. We hard booted and it came back up for about 5 hours but then it happened again. I'm trying to figure out our options. Unfortunately we do not have similar hardware but I have a small desktop that I can use. I was contemplating putting one of the drives into the desktop and then starting it up. My goal was to then P2V it using Vmware converter but apparently the free v5.x doesn't support hot cloning/converting on a RAID volume, only the Enterprise 4.x version of Converter does. My questions are: 1.) Is putting a single drive out of a RAID1 pair into another piece of HW is safe? Based on my research and understanding it appears to be but would like confirmation. 2.) Is there any work around to the Vmware Converter not supporting RAID volumes during a hot clone/convert session? 3.) Are there other options I'm overlooking?   Well, I am perplexed. I am working with an Ubuntu server and I type in grep 'bash' *.sh BUT fgrep 'bash' *.sh works like a champ. which grep and which fgrep both point to their respective executables in /bin. I am perplexed as to what I am doing wrong. EXAMPLE output: $ grep -F 'grounding' repl.clj Usage: grep [OPTION]... PATTERN [FILE]... Search for PATTERN in each FILE or standard input. PATTERN is, by default, a basic regular expression (BRE). Example: grep -i 'hello world' menu.h main.c $ fgrep 'grounding' repl.clj (p/concepts-for-grounding-term imp1 "PERSON" "summary") See? grep is failing but fgrep is working fine. That is why I am perplexed.

  I have confused myself following a VLSM tutorial and need to get my understanding confirmed, would this be the correct format, or am i away off again 172.31.0.0 VLSM this network address for as many subnetworks as possible, with no more than 14 hosts in each subnetwork. Show the subnet mask used. As the ip address is class b and contains 16 bits in the network portion, this means that we can have 2^16 = 65536 possible networks, to give each of these networks a maximum of 14 hosts we would use the subnet prefix \28 for each subnet. • DNS Help: Move domain, not mailserver

  I'm in the middle of launching a new website for an already-in-use domain. The domain has a complicated email system so we'd like to move that over to the new server a bit later on. Currently the domain DNS is managed by the current webhost. I plan on moving the DNS management back to Network Solutions, then point the A record to the new website's IP. However, currently the DNS has the MX record the same as the A record. When NetworkSolutions is managing the DNS, and I point the A record to the new IP, then the MX record can't be the A record.. Right now: A Record mydomain.com points to IP address 198.198.198.198 MX record mydomain.com points to IP address 198.198.198.198 What I want: A Record mydomain.com points to IP address of new server MX record somehow points to current existing mailserver Does this even make sense?

Same thing on olx.com - location and number of items for each category. Now imagine I have tables: [products] (Id, Name, CategoryId, LocationId) [Categories] (Id,Name) [Location] (Id, Name) My question how can I do the same, cause count things even with caching looks expensive? • Cisco NAC: help with enabling FTP or moving update files

  Hi, So this is a LINUX question, and a Cisco NAC question. I'm trying to update our server from 4.1 to 4.7, and i need to move some tarball files to the NAC. the NAC Appliance runs some strange stripped down version of Fedora Core 4 copying the upgrade: The instructions say to FTP the file to the NAC appliance, however whenever i use WinSCP with root credentials, i get a notice informing me the connection was actively refused. I can't for the life of me find any .conf files that sound like winners, so I don't know how to change the settings, however the ftp command does seem to work. what exactly should I do here?

• Problems with undo in VS2010, I need help figuring out what is wrong

  I have been battling with my Microsoft Visual C# 2010 Express for a while now. When I undo things some times it works fine and other times it replaces lines of code I didn't touch with lines I deleted. It seems to pick targets at random and most of the time I can easily repair what it has done or just not save the changes. This problem is starting to drive me crazy. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening to me? When I was using Microsoft Visual 2012 this never happen. I have tried to search this problem with no luck so far.

• need help in backing up 2 partitions to flash drive(Acronis)

  I'm trying it on virtual box and installed Acronis 2010. The backup was successful but when I checked on the backup which is on my flash drive. Here's my problem: Ive installed firefox before the backup, but the program files folder in the flash drive has no folder called firefox. How do I restore the the 2 partitions using the backup. What I did was to: Go to tools & utilities in Acronis then chose clone disk. Selected the source and destination(flash drive). Then I restart, the backup began. First with the first partition which has xp installed and the 2nd was vista lite. What do I do to restore it: I only got these folders on the root of the flash drive: Documents and settings Program files Windows BOOTSECT.BAK

The website can be recovered by simply renaming a .dll file on the server which effectively reboots the website/application. • URGENT: help recovering lost data

  I have made a directory: sudo mkdir /ssd, the directory was supposed to be mounted to a raid array called md3. This was done by adding /dev/md3 /ssd auto defaults 0 0 to fstab. Then after a while where I had used the directory, I realized that I had forgotten to run sudo mount -a - and then I did, and now the data is gone. I tried to uncomment the line in fstab and run sudo mount -a but that didn't get back my data. What can I do!?   I have a windows server 2003 computer that is accessed by remote desktop connection. To access the server all you need to know is the IP address of the computer. I want to limit the computers that can access the windows server computer to authorized computers only. The authorized computers won't have static IPs, so I cannot limit them on basis of IP address. Can I limit them on basis of MAC id perhaps? I won't mind using third party solution like Teamviewer or Logmein etc. So How can I solve this problem?

  Over the past two days I have been receiving the following message on a new computer running Windows 7: Account exceeded bandwidth limits. (Failure) Whenever I try to access my emails through Thunderbird, this is followed by: Login to server imap.gmail.com failed. Credentials are correct as I have access via HTTP. And then it requests me to enter my password (I have also unlocked the captcha on this account, but this didn't stop any error messages) I'm looking for a details on why this is happening, to prevent it from reoccurring, such as whether this is specific to something in Thunderbird 3 or google?

• Help with Corrupt version of IE8 on WinXPsp3

  I've upgrade from IE6 to 7 to 8 and back down and back up, but still have critical issues in IE such as * cannot see any version info in "about internet explorer" * cannot run windows update * cannot load SharePoint pages (and other pages using ActiveX or IE-specific dhtml) I've also re-installed sp3, but still no luck. Also, also - I've changed security settings to be most permissive. Next step is blowing it all away and starting with windows7. Short of that, any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.
