  • C++ read registry string value in char*

    I'm reading a registry value like this: char mydata[2048]; DWORD dataLength = sizeof(mydata); DWORD dwType = REG_SZ; ..... open key, etc ReqQueryValueEx(hKey, keyName, 0, &dwType, (BYTE*)mydata, &dataLength); My problem is, that after this, mydata content looks like: [63, 00, 3A, 00, 5C, 00...], i.e. this looks like a unicode?!?!. I need to convert this somehow to be a normal char array, without these [00], as they fail a simple logging function I have. I.e. if I call like this: WriteMessage(mydata), it outputs only "c", which is the first char in the registry. I have calls to this logging function all over the place, so I'd better of not modify it, but somehow "fix" the registry value.     I come from a Java background and have been using C# for the last year - So far the API docs I use are at MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms132397.aspx). I tend to use the lightweight C# docs. What annoys me about that is that I don't see one page with details of the class, a list of members, a list of methods and properties like I would with a Java API definition. Is this possible?

  • Trying to read keyboard input without blocking (Windows, C++)

    I'm trying to write a Windows console application (in C++ compiled using g++) that will execute a series of instructions in a loop until finished OR until ctrl-z (or some other keystroke) is pressed. The code I'm currently using to catch it isn't working (otherwise I wouldn't be asking, right?): if(kbhit() && getc(stdin) == 26) //The code to execute when ctrl-z is pressed If I press a key, it is echoed and the application waits until I press Enter to continue on at all. With the value 26, it doesn't execute the intended code. If I use something like 65 for the value to catch, it will reroute execution if I press A then Enter afterward. Is there a way to passively check for input, throwing it out if it's not what I'm looking for or properly reacting when it is what I'm looking for? ..and without having to press Enter afterward?

    This is a strange question, I've never tried to do this before. I have a repetitive process requiring that I copy and paste data from text boxes in one program into another program for further processing. I'd like to automate this process using VB .NET. The application from which the data is gathered isn't mine, so I don't have ActiveX-like access to its controls. How would you write an application to gain access to a form from another application, to be able to find the controls on the form, and gather the values from them? Just experimenting, I've used the following code. This resulted in only the name of the form to which this code belongs. It didn't find the names of any other forms I have open, and I have a lot open to choose from. This is frustrating because it's only step one of what I'll need to do to make my life easier...   • php read CSV with various amount of delimiters

    I've got a script that reads in from a CSV file and sometimes the CSV files it receives contains an uneven amount of delimiters/columns so the first row could have 30 columns, the 2nd could have 20, etc. I can think of a few solutions myself ie: Count the delimiters in the widest row, then append the proper amount to each row that is short to make them even. But I was wondering if anyone had a more elegant method of doing this.

    I'm currently trying to write a script that gets messages from my gmail account but I'm noticing a problem. If poplib loops through a message in my inbox it will never loop through it again.     I have an app which uses Core data and the values are fetched from a link on internet. This runs absolutely fine when I am creating a serial queue in AppDelegate and I am not facing any problem with the same. Now, when I am trying to re-create similar scenario in a UITableViewController and executing the same in a serial queue but when the control reaches NSError *error; NSArray *match = [context executeFetchRequest:fetchRequest error:&error]; execution control disappears and then this code remains in the execution till eternity. Can anyone help me with what exactly is wrong here? FYI, I am passing the same ManagedObjectContext to the serial queue.
