I want before start installation start check process with dialog "please wait", if my installation found old version I can provide dialog "update or delete old and install new". How can I do it?   • WIX - Verify that file exists - and/or file-browser dialog/button

    How do you create a "Browse" button in a WIX dialog. I currently have a custom dialog box with four radio buttons (Dev, QA, Stage, and Prod), and a text field for a filename. The install of course dies if the user enters a bad filename. I would be happy first of all just to verify that the file they entered exists. Secondly, I would like to add a File-Browser button, if such things exists in WIX. But even then, I would imagine the user could type in any file name, and I should still check to see if it exists.   • Change WizardForm.TasksList offset

    When I change WizardForm.TasksList.Offset to 20, the result looks like this: When I change it to 120, it looks like this: The problem is, I need it 120, but I don't want any space between the checkbox and it's label. You can see that with offset 120 it looks just awful, because of that space. I want the space to appear only at the left side, not in the middle. Is there any way to accomplish that?

    I created one desktop project in c#. i want to know about how it could be use for different languages. i created resx file for all the forms like that: select particular form goes to the property window set localiztion true select language in which i want to show in particular language. convert all labels text and other functionality in selected language and build it. after building one another resx file created other than default resx. This process is did for all the form. so now each form having to resx file first is hi.resx for hindi and another is default resx. now my qus is that : how to give language selection option at installation time. and when user choose any language then my application is converted in that language that means particular language resx file set life time whenever user uninstall that application.

  • Extra space while installing .msi

    I have extra space in my custom made .msi. The data to be installed has about 600MB and the installer says it needs 1.4 GB.Switching to a different location then the predetermined one (e.g from C:\Program Files\My_App to F:\My_App) shows that it always need approximately 800 MB on the Windows partition, which is in my case the extra space. Any thoughts on why is this happening? Also can this cause an installation error on a 64-bit OS? I've only installed it on a 32-bit OS and everything is fine, but one of my colleagues is having problems installing it on the above mentioned type.

  • How to avoid web server traffic peak resulting from iOS Newsstand app receiving a remote notification?

    I'm developing an iOS Newsstand app. If it is suspended or not running and connected to a WLAN, Newsstand apps can be triggered by a Push remote notification to download the latest issue (in our case around 100MB) in the background. I'm using Urban Airship for the delivery of the Push broadcast. I'm now worrying about many many iOS devices hitting the web server for one big download more or less at the same time, because I expect the majority of the devices will receive the notification in a very short timeframe. Instead of broadcasts to all devices, should I rather send individual notifications to batches of small groups of devices, spreading them out over a longer period of time? And/or would a CDN like Amazon Cloudfront solve that issue easier/anyway?

    I installed emacs 23.3.1 in c:/emacs-23.3. Following the hints in this page, I updated the site-start.el to set HOME environment variable. (setenv "HOME" "c:/users/USER/emacs") And I made c:/users/USER/.emacs (like I did in unix/mac) to write the code for using slime, but it doesn't seem to start slime correctly. Is this a correct way of setting emacs in Windows 7? Where do I put the .emacs file?

    I want to add a splash screen to my game. I created a SplashScene.sks and a SplashScene.swift file. I'm trying to load my SplashScene before GameScene but I cannot manage to do it. How should I do this? Line 58 is: GetSceneClient().ConsoleCommand("KEYNAME"@Key); What is the problem here?   • Installer only installs to root on x64 systems

    My MSI installer created with Visual Studio 2008 refuses to install the app in the designated directory and instead will only install the app in the root directory. If I take the same MSI and install in on an x86 system the installer installs the app in the directory specified. I am developing the app and MSI on Server 2008 and Win7 RC x64 (Hyper-V). I see the same results on either development platform. Thanks in advance!

I want to be able to allow other people to setup their own landing pages and make a percentage of the sale from their site. What are some good payment processors or payment gateways that make setting up an affiliate system easy and fast? Clarification - When someone purchases an item, I want (whatever the payment processor is) to automatically route a percentage of that payment to the affiliate and the rest to the original author.) Are there any payment frameworks that already do this? I've found a few sites that let you do this, but they seem to restrict you to digital purchases only.   • How to setup whole-disk encryption with dual boot on a MacBook Pro (generation 9,2 with 12.04)

    I can install Ubuntu 12.04 on the MacBook when using the "noapic" kernel boot option, using the alternate amd64+mac image (from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/12.04/release/ ). But after installation the screen turn sblack after trying to boot "Windows" (as named in the boot menu that shows up when holding Option/Alt during startup). I want to use whole-disk encryption and given that only one free partition is available, I have setup LVM to do so: - vg0 contains bootlv and cryptlv - in cryptlv I have setup encryption with another LVM volume group (vg1, which holds swaplv, rootlv and homelv) I have not installed Grub during installation (because I was not sure about the partition) and when trying to install it later on /dev/sda4 (which contains the outer LVM) it complained that it could not determine the file system, and --force did not help either. The black screen / behavior looks similar to starting the installer without enabling the noapic option.

  • Is deserializing complex objects instead of creating them a good idea, in test setup?

    I'm writing tests for a component that takes very complex objects as input. These tests are mixes of tests against already existing components, and test-first tests for new features. Instead of re-creating my input objects (this would be a large chunk of code) or reading one from our data store, I had the thought to serialize a live instance of one of these objects, and just deserialize it into test setup. I can't decide if this is a reasonable idea that will save effort in long run, or whether it's the worst idea that I've ever had, causing those that will maintain this code will hunt me down as soon as they read it. Is deserialization of inputs a valid means of test setup in some cases? To give a sense of scale of what I'm dealing with, the size of serialization output for one of these input objects is 93KB. Obtained by, in C#: new BinaryFormatter().Serialize((Stream)fileStream, myObject);
