  • A simple log file format

    Hi, I'm not sure if it was asked, but I couldn't find anything like this. My program uses a simple .txt file for log purposes, It just creates/opens a file and appends lines. After some time, I started to log quite a lot of activities, so the file became too large and hardly readable. I know, that it's not write way to do this, but I simply need to have a readable file. So I thought maybe there's a simple file format for log files and a soft to view it or if you'd have any other suggestions on this question? Thanks for help in advance.

    Excuse the beginner level of this question. I have the following simple code, but it does not seem to run. It gets a segmentation fault. If I replace the pointer with a simple call to the actual variable, it runs fine...   • Parallel.For(): Different results for simple addition

    I'm just looking in to the new .NET 4.0 features. With that, I'm attempting a simple calculation using Parallel.For and a normal for(x;x;x) loop. However, I'm getting different results about 50% of the time (no code change). long sum = 0; Parallel.For(1, 10000, y => { sum += y; }); Console.WriteLine(sum.ToString()); sum = 0; for (int y = 1; y < 10000; y++) { sum += y; } Console.WriteLine(sum.ToString()); Surely I'm missing something simple or do not completely understand the concept. My guess is that the threads are trying to update "sum" at the same time. If so, is there an obvious way around it?

  • Passing enum or object through an intent (the best solution)

    I have an activity that when started needs access to two different ArrayLists. Both Lists are different Objects I have created myself. Basically I need a way to pass these objects to the activity from an Intent. I can use addExtras() but this requires a Parceable compatible class. I could make my classes to be passed serializable but as I understand this slows down the program. What are my options? Can I pass an Enum? As an an aside: is there a way to pass parameters to an Activity Constructor from an Intent?

    I have an app where users have a role,a username,faculty and so on.When I'm looking for a list of users by their role or faculty or anything they have in common I can call (among others possible) @users = User.find_by_role(params[:role]) #or @users = User.find_by_shift(params[:shift]) So it keeps the system Class.find_by_property So the question is: What if at different points users lists should be generated based on different properties.I mean: I'm passing from different links params[:role] or params[:faculty] or params[:department] to my list action in my users controller.As I see it all has to be in that action,but which parameter should the search be made by?

    I am trying to read a link from one page, print the url, go to that page, and read the link on the next page in the same location, print the url, go to that page (and so on...) All I'm doing is reading the url and passing it as an argument to the get_links() method until there are no more links. This is my code but it throws a Fatal error: Call to a member function find() on a non-object.   • Why won't the debugger update?

    Hello everyone, Ive had this problem multiple times and it ruins my projects, I make some changes, like say I have a button in the top left corner of the form and move it to the top right corner, then I press debug but nothing happens to the form, it doesn't change the button is still in the top left-hand corner instead of the top right, and it also doesn't except any new code, its like it saved the project right there and won't move on. Does any one know why or had this problem before? Please, Help!!!! Additional Details: Compiler: Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition I once fixed this problem by rebuilding the solution, but its never worked again.

    hi, DRUPAL question. I'm using Views, with an exposed filter (Taxonomy). I've downloaded the "better exposed filter" module to display it as checkbox list. a Now, how can I order the tags in the filter list ? "Views Sort" is not the solution because I only can order articles but not the filter items!! I want to add an option (checkbox) for the customer to order the tags alphabetically or leave them in the default order. thanks

    Is there a simple framework for processing form submissions via a servlet? For my needs, a framework like STRUTS seems like over kill. My ideal processor would be a servlet that converts form elements into a bean object, possibly using typing information in the form to help with the conversion.     Recently I've posted my experience with installation of PostSharp Once PostSharp  is installed in  solution's packages folder for some project(s), I often need to add PostSharp to another project in the same solutionSection "Adding PostSharp to your project using PostSharp HQ" of documentation described the process quite well.I only want to add that the  actual location of  PostSharp HQ ( if it was installed from NuGet) is[solution root ]packages\PostSharp.2.1.7.15\tools\Release\PostSharp.HQ.exe.Also you need to ensure that the project is checked out,i.e. not readOnly.
