• Inode to device information

  I have 3 questions: I want to figure out if a file belongs to a USB device given the file inode. By looking in the latest kernel sources (2.6.33) on LXR, I think one can find that information by following pointers as follows: inode-super_block-block_device-backing_dev_info-device-device_driver(or device_type). However, the kernel that I am working with - 2.6.22.14 - does not have struct device pointer in the backing_dev_info object. So how can I figure out to which device does a file belong to from just the inode? I see that each of the inode, super_block and block_device contain an object of type 'dev_t'. But even after searching a lot, I could not find out how to convert 'dev_t' into struct device *. Is there any way to get that infomation? I tried to print device major and minor numbers using imajor(inode) and iminor(inode). However, for every file - belonging to hdd or usb - it always prints major and minor number as zero. Why would that be happening? I searched online for USB major numbers and I found out that major number for a USB is 180. • twython search api rate limit: Header information will not be updated

  I want to handle the Search-API rate limit of 180 requests / 15 minutes. The first solution I came up with was to check the remaining requests in the header and wait 900 seconds.   My setup is something like this: radiobutton1 - selection1 radiobutton2 - selection2 textinput1 I want radiobutton1 to be selected whenever selection1 is changed, and I want radiobutton2 to be selected whenever either selection2 or textinput1 is changed. • Screen information while Windows system is locked (.NET)

  We have a nightly process that updates applications on a user's pc, and that requires bringing the application down and back up again (not looking to get into changing that process). The problem is that we are building a Windows AppBar on launch which requires a valid screen, and when the system is locked there isn't one in the Screen class. So none of the visual effects are enabled and it shows up real ugly. The only way we currently have around this is to detect a locked screen and just spin and wait until the user unlocks the desktop, then continue launching. Leaving it down isn't an option, as this is a key part of our user's workflow, and they expect it to be up and running if they left it that way the night before. Any ideas?? I can't seem to find the display information anywhere, but it has to be stored off someplace, since the user is still logged in. • Moving information between databases

  I'm on Postgres, and have two databases on the same machine, and I'd like to move some data from database Source to database Dest. Database Source: Table User has a primary key Table Comments has a primary key Table UserComments is a join table with two foreign keys for User and Comments Dest looks just like Source in structure, but already has information in User and Comments tables that needs to be retained. I'm thinking I'll probably have to do this in a few steps. Step 1, I would dump Source using the Postgres Copy command. Step 2, In Dest I would add a temporary second_key column to both User and Comments, and a new SecondUserComments join table. Step 3, I would import the dumped file into Dest using Copy again, with the keys input into the second_key columns. Step 4, I would add rows to UserComments in Dest based on the contents of SecondUserComments, only using the real primary keys this time. Could this be done with a SQL command or would I need a script? Step 5, delete the SecondUserComments table and remove the second_key columns. Does this sound like the best way to do this, or is there a better way I'm overlooking?

• No Debug information of an iPhone app

  Hi all, I wrote an iPhone app which uses a third party library. I crosscompiled this library successfully and everything works smoothly. But when I want to debug the application, it would make sense to also be able to debug the library. So I compiled also the external library with debuging information (usign the gcc option -ggdb). • Passing a formula field value into a Crystal Reports command

  Hello eveybody! I have a report, in which I calculate starting date via Formula Fields. Then I need to pass calculated value into a subreport, where I can use it as one of the parameters for the stored procedure in my database. The problem is that for some reason value of the corresponding parameter when the database is queried is empty (or null, I am not sure exactly). What can be wrong in my report template? The formula I use is: ToText( ShiftDateTime ({@StartDate}, {?TimeZone}, "UTC,0")) Name of this formula field is StartDate I pass it into subreport as a Pm-?@StartDateUTC (also tried Pm-@StartDateUTC). I am sure, that @StartDate has correct value (tested in preview with this field in report), also Pm-?@StartDateUTC does has a value, but when CR is accessing DB - the result is empty field value...

  I have the following code; int days = [[SettingsUtils daysToRetainHistory] intValue]; [retainHistory setText:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"Days to retain History: %d", days]]; [daysToRetainHistory setValue:days animated:NO]; where [SettingsUtils daysToRetainHistory] is as follows; + (int) daysToRetainHistory { return (int)[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] objectForKey:@"CaseBaseDaysToRetainHistory"]; } I get the compiler warning Invalid receiver type 'int' because I call intValue on an int but unless I do this I can't seem to get the integer value out and always end up with the memory address i.e. 98765432 instead of 9 which ruins the UILabel display [retainHistory] and the UISlider [daysToRetainHistory] value. How do I avoid the compiler warning and still get my integer value in the label and the necessary float value for setting the UISlider value?

  My application utilizes approx. 50+ .plists that are used as NSDictionaries. Several of my view controllers need access to the properties of the dictionaries, so instead of writing duplicate code to retrieve the .plist, convert the values to a dictionary, etc, each time I need the info, I thought a model class to hold the data and supply information would be appropriate. The application isn't very large, but it does handle a good deal of data. I'm not as skilled in writing model classes that conform to the MVC paradigm, and I'm looking for some strategies for this implementation that also supports lazy loading.. This model class should serve to supply data to any view controller that needs it and perform operations on the data (such as adding entries to dictionaries) when requested by the controller functions currently planned: returning the count on any dictionary adding one or more dictionaries together Currently, I have this method for supporting the count lookup for any dictionary.   I am doing data analysis and sometimes I need to check and to make sure each row in excel does not have any repeated value. I hope that there is a formula where each time if there's a repeated value in the same row, the value will be highlighted and it doesn't matter what value it is, as long as it's repeated in the same row. I try to search it everywhere but the closest I can find is below question & answer ( which couldn't apply to me as I need a formula that can highlight any value that's repeated and not only zero): I have rows which contain grades for students (numerical values), where the number 0 means they missed a class. I want the row to be highlighted in one color if they have "0" 3 or 4 times, and in another color if they have "0" 5 times or more. =COUNTIF(1:1,0)=5 Anyone can help me? Thanks in advance!

  is there a way to define a value within a class in the __init__ part, send it to some variable outside of the class without calling another function within the class? like class c: def __init__(self, a): self.a = a b = 4 # do something like this so that outside of class c, # b is set to 4 automatically when i use class c def function(self): ... # whatever. this doesnt matter i have multiple classes that have different values for b. i could just make a list that tells the computer to change b, but i would rather set b within each class
