  Here's the scenario: Many users access an application (running on tomcat), the user's data is segmented into multiple databases, say each db containing 1000 user's data. Now is it somehow possible to have 100s of tomcat servers running on 'inexpensive' PC class machines with each connecting to a single db, with user's session getting passed to appropriate tomcat and becoming 'Sticky' there. Can have some sort of 'gateway' deciding which user goes where and doing the load-balancing appropriately. Would make a great scalability solution :)

I wanted to also convert to an mp4 format that will "stream" to an iphone and blackberry, or allowed to be downloaded to either, for later viewing.   Hello all, I have switched on the Codeigniter profile (very useful) and I have noticed that a page of mine shows the memory used as: 2,405,496 bytes That's ~2MB and it's for one request - does it mean if 1000 users accessed this page at the same time, memory usage will be 2GB? Have I got my maths wrong or is there more to this than just multiplying two numbers? Thanks all for any help

  Hello! In my Ubuntu 10.10, following this tutorial, I don't face step 2. I mean, while installing the packets, I don't face anything related to configuration. Then, when I run a command, such a mysql -u root -p , I get this error: ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) As I see in other treads, ps aux | grep mysqld gives me just this output: 1000 4508 0.0 0.0 5172 760 pts/0 S+ 19:53 0:00 grep --color=auto mysqld What is happening??   This Query is giving me an error of #1054 - Unknown column 'totalamount' in 'where clause' SELECT (amount1 + amount2) as totalamount FROM `Donation` WHERE totalamount > 1000 I know i can resolve this error by using group by clause and replace my where condition with having clause. But is there any other solution beside using having clause. If group by is the only solution then I want to know why I have to use group by clause even I havent use any aggregate function thanks.
