• WinXP Parallels Guest with OS X host -- communication between the two?

  The setup: Windows XP guest OS running inside Parallels 5 on a OS X 10.6.2 host. I have a win32 application that runs in windows that communicates with other programs by sending out keystrokes to the program in focus. I can run this software inside parallels just fine, but I need a way for it to communicate (via keystrokes) with native OS X applications. For instance, the windows software sends out a continuous stream of a's and w's, based on the program input from an external source. On the other side, I have a Mac version of VLC media player with hotkeys set up for a and w for the two functions I would like to manipulate from the windows software. How can I set up a link between the guest and host OS's with Parallels that lets a windows program send keystrokes to a mac program?

  On a winform there is a combobox that derives its information from a datatable. The datatable draws from a database list. this.cboList.DataSource = pullData(); this.cboList.DisplayMember = "fieldA"; Once the DataSource is set I am not able to insert a default row (ie *) as the first item in the combobox. I tried this: this.cboList.Items.Insert(0,"*"); Is there a way to insert in the combobox after the datasource is set or should this be done in the datatable?

  I am trying to install an application and a group of services using PSTools, but I want to take into account that the computer I am trying to connect to may be turned off or on a different network, which is not reachable from the internal network. Basically if the machine is not able to be accessed through the admin share, this is the message that I am getting: Couldn't access MachineName: The network path was not found. Make sure that the default admin$ share is enabled on MachineName.   I have a class based on database values. I'm using __set to automatically sync database values with the class properties. Set checks an array of database fields that it is allowed to update in the database. The field 'id' isn't in the list, so __set will throw an exception if you try to do $objDbRow->id = 5;. However, there is one time when I do want to set the id property of the object, and that's on instantiation. So in __constuct, I have $this->id = $id (where $id is passed to __construct). However, __set seems to be intercepting the setting here, because an exception is being thrown on construction. What's the way to get around this? I suppose I also have a boolean flag, like $instantiated, that __set() would check before it does it's field whitelist checking. But that feels inelegant.

  I am creating a cube with the following tables: Customer CustomerID, Name Customer Rep CustomerID, RepID Rep RepID, Name The important thing here is that there is a many to many relationship between Reps and Customers. I want to be able to ask the question "How much sales for customers working with rep 'A'?" In the data source view i set up the relationships between both customerid columns and both repid columns. I set up the rep attribute in the dimension builder and when I try to build the cube I get this error: Errors in the high-level relationship engine. the 'Rep' table that is required for a join cannot be reached based on the relationships in the data source view.

• Can someone explain Kohana 3's routing system?

  In bootstrap.php, where you set routes, I'm having a hard time getting them to work. I read some documentation a while ago that I can't seem to find again that explains them. Here is one of my examples Route::set('products', 'products/(type)', array('type' => '.+')) ->defaults(array( 'controller' => 'articles', 'action' => 'view_product', 'page' => 'shock-absorbers', )); I thought that would mean a request like products/something would load up the articles controller, and the action_view_product method. But I can't get it to work. Can someone please explain to me exactly how they work, and what all the method parameters are?

  Is there any way how to propagate properties from child control into parent - so I can access property like - Parent.Property1 instead of Parent.Child.Property1 ? I cant use inheritance - my parent cant be extended child type - its inherited from different class.   Hey everyone. I'm currently preparing for my exams and would like to know some examples of user-defined integrity rule in database systems. As far as I understand, it means that I can set up certain conditions for the columns and when data is inserted it needs to fulfill these conditions. For example: if I set up a rule that an ID needs to consist of 5 integers ONLY then when I insert a row with ID which is made up of integers and some chars then it won't accept it and return an error. • Prevent Erroneous Property Assignment

  Porting android applications to iphone applications always gives me the following pattern that I accidentally create: - (void) myFunc:(id)prop { self.property = property; } Which instead should be: - (void) myFunc:(id)prop { self.property = prop; } This always causes my program to quietly break because property gets reset to its existing value rather than being set to the new value, 'prop'. I cannot name the parameter 'prop' to 'property' since the compile complains that the parameter masks the instance variables visibility. Is there a good way to avoid this situation? There are no compiler warnings. Is there a way to make xcode prevent this? I cannot see very many situations where you would set a property to the value of its underlying instance variable (maybe to trigger a KVO binding?), but I don't see myself doing that in majority of cases. I understand the above code is synthetic and should be done with @synthesize, but I am just using it as a simplified example to illustrate my point.

  I have a following Qt code: QVBoxLayout* box = new QVBoxLayout; label = new QLabel(); // will be set later dynamically box->addWidget (label); Text in label will be set later. The problem is that when label resizes, it resizes QVBoxLayout, and it resizes other neighboring widgets. I don't want to make a label or layout fixed width. Because I want them to resize with a whole window. Is it possible to tell label to take all the place that it has in layout, but not more?

So it got me thinking can I somehow set it in my project to always take my "development scripts" and minify them automatically. Right now if I make a change to my script I have to remember to minify it once I am done otherwise I could be using a out to day version. So it would be cool if I could just set up like so when I build it takes all my development scripts and then minifys them. How could I do something like this?

• Caching images with different query strings (S3 signed urls)

  I'm trying to figure out if I can get browsers to cache images with signed urls. What I want is to generate a new signed url for every request (same image, but with an updated signature), but have the browser not re-download it every time. So, assuming the cache-related headers are set correctly, and all of the URL is the same except for the query string, is there any way to make the browser cache it? The urls would look something like: http://example.s3.amazonaws.com/magic.jpg?WSAccessKeyId=stuff&Signature=stuff&Expires=1276297463 http://example.s3.amazonaws.com/magic.jpg?WSAccessKeyId=stuff&Signature=stuff&Expires=1276297500 We plan to set the e-tags to be an md5sum, so will it at least figure out it's the same image at that point? My other option is to keep track of when last gave out a url, then start giving out new ones slightly before the old ones expire, but I'd prefer not to deal with session info.

• PHP class that changes an image and reloads the page not displaying new image in Internet Explorer

  I have a class that runs a function when the image is clicked on to display an additional image. This function produces a linked div tag that reloads the page with a set of variables that then produces another image. The image is set as a background image on a large div tag behind the linked div tags to give the same effect as an image map but without using an image map or a SVG. This works perfectly in Chrome and Firefox but will not display the new image in Internet Explorer until you F5 the page again with the get variables in the URL? Does anyone know how to fix this issue so that it works in IE the same as the other browsers? Many thanks.

  Ruby Newbie here, I understand that everything is an object in Ruby, one thing that I wasn't sure about was understanding Variables. Variables basically give reference to objects (correct me if I'm wrong). During an instructional video, the teacher did a demonstration which went as below: (irb) a = 100 ==> 100 b = a ==> 100 b ==> 100 This part I get, makes total sense. Then he did a = 50 ==> 50 b ==> 100 If B is supposed to point to what a was set which was a 100, why does b still point to 100 if a has now been set as 50?

• Return cell reference as result of if statement with vlookups.

  I have two sets of data in excel. One contains a set of data which represents the initial step of a process. The other set of data represents the additional steps which take place after the first step is completed. Each of the data records in the "additional step data" has an id in a column. I need to find the identifying codes of the "additional step data" which correspond with the initial step data records. The problem is that I have to match the data in 4 columns between the two data sets and return the id of the "additional step data". I started by doing a combination of an if and vlookup functions, but I got stuck when I tried to figure out how to get the if statement to reference the id of the matching "additional step data". Basically I am trying to avoid having to search by manually filtering between two sets of data and finding corresponding records. Does anyone have any idea about how to do this?

• Windows 2008 unable to execute c# powershell app. Returning access exception.

  Hi, Does anybody know why I can't access the folder where my powershell scripts are in windows 2008 Ent. When I try to create a script with textpad it craps out. When I try and execute a c# powershell app, which is stored on another win 2003 drive, it craps out with an access exception as well. I've set powershell execution policy to unrestricted for both normal users and admin users with 'run as admin' on powershell, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. There must be a policy setting, doesn't allow scripts access to a directory, but where, and how to set it. Any help would be appreciated. scope_creep

I have a user control, with a grid control contained in it. public Unit Width { get { return CustomerGrid.Width; } set { CustomerGrid.Width = value; } } I expose the width property and when I set it in the designer it works at run-time but not design time. What class do I inherit from or method to override to get my controls to function at design time.
