• Does the Quick Search Box search the database in Android? how?

  i have an database with the values of latitude and longitude. i would need to search those values depends on the user input. does the quick search box can search only the database value with the type-to-search feature. Else i want to put a separate EditText and then do the the search process.. if QSB is possible then how to do that? i want to search and drop a pin on the map.. please make a note of it. • How to have partial incremental synchronizations based on a GUID?

  I need to synchronize an SQL Server database to Oracle through an Oracle Transparent Gateway. The synchronization is performed in batches, so I need to get the next set of data from the point where I left off. The problem I'm having is that the only field I have in the source, to help me, is a GUID. If it were a number I could just order by it, keep the last one processed and restart the process by getting the records which are my recorded number. This won't work with a GUID. Any ideas?

• TFS: How do I view .cs files in the VS IDE when viewing details of a shelveset?

  For our code review process we open the details of a shelveset to see all files that have been worked on. Right clicking and choosing "Compare" works great for existing ( modified ) files. But, when a file has been added I just want to view the file. Double clicking ( or right click - view ) opens .cs ( and .sql )files in notepad. When I try to open a .PRC file ( extension for our stored procedures ) I get a prompt that allows me to choose what program to use for viewing. Does anyone know how to get this prompt to show up for .cs files ( and all other files, for that matter ) Thanks! • Stop sign icon in VS2005 Express solution explorer

  What does a small stop sign icon on a file in solution explorer mean? Someone asked the same question a year ago Original Question but the answer provided is of no help. The icon looks like this: Suffice to say that the sign is not one presented in the VS documentation and is a UK Stop sign (red circle with a white horizontal bar) not a US one. The project is WebKit and the build process cannot find AuthenticationCF.h even though the file is present. I presume the sign might shed some light on this. Thanks, Andy

• In which layer should I join 2 entities together?

  I use Spring MVC and a regular JDBC. I've just learned that I should separate business process into layers which are presentation layer, controller layer, service layer, and repository/DAO layer. Now suppose that I have an Entity called Person that can have multiple Jobs. Job itself is another entity which have its own properties. From what I gathered, the repository layer only manages one entity. Now I have one entity that contains another entity. Where do I "join" them? The service layer? Suppose I want to get a person whose job isn't known yet (lazy loading). But the system might ask what the job of that particular person is later on. What is the role of each layer in this case? Please let me know if I need to add any detail into this question.

  I want to debug on the customer's machine (Windows Server 2003) to track a problem, and out product is based on .NET 2.0. I want to use DbgCLR.exe to debug a file AAA.dll, what I did is: install .NET 2.0 SDK on the customer's machine (to get the DbgCLR.exe) copy the symbol file AAA.pdb to the same directory with AAA.dll get the source file for AAA.dll the AAA.dll will be loaded by w3wp.exe, so in the DbgCLR Tools-Attach to Process, then I choose w3wp.exe File-Open-File open the source file and add a breakpoint in the function which will be callled but the breakpoint seems do no work because there is an warning icon on it and says : the breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document. On my computer (Windows XP) which has the debug version of whole source code, I did nearly the same thing as above but the different is: I attached aspnet_wp.exe to do the debug and it works What should I do to let it work on the customer's machine?

  OKay I am at loss how to name this question. I have some HTML files, probably written by lord Lucifier himself, that I need to parse. It consists of many segments like this, among other html tags <p>HeadingNumber</p> <p style="text-indent:number;margin-top:neg_num ">Heading Text</p> <p>Body</p> Notice that the heading number and text are in seperate p tags, aligned in a horizontal line by css. the css may be whatever Lucifier fancies, a mixture of indents, paddings, margins and positions. However that line is a single object in my business model and should be kept as such. So How do I detect whether two p elements are visually in a single line and process them accordingly. I believe the HTML files are well formed if it helps.

• postgresql duplicate table names best practice

  My company has a handful of apps that we deploy in the websites we build. Recently a very old app needed to be included along side a newer app and there was a conflict w/ a duplicate table name needed to be used by both apps. We are now in the process of updating an old app and there will be some DB updates. I'm curious what people consider best practice (or how do you do it) to help ensure these name collisions don't happen. I've looked at schema's but not sure if thats the right path we want to take. As the documentation prescribes, I don't want to "wire" a particular schema name into an application and if I add schema's to the user search path how would it know which table I was referring to if two schema's have the same table name. although, maybe I'm reading to much into this. Any insights or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

Now i have another binary which tries to find out about extents for all the files. Now currently i am using linear search to find extent info for the files in the above mentioned text file. This is a time consuming process. Is there a better way of coding this ? Like Implementing any good data structure like BTree. If B+ Tree is used what is the key, branch factor i need to use ?

It copies state of the memory as well, so *f should be equal in both instances. But what happens with system resources, such as a file handle? In this example I open the file with write intentions, so only one instance can write into file, right? Which of the instances will actually write into file? Who should care further about the file handle, and call fclose() ?

  I am developing SL3 + RIA services with custom authentication. I followed the example in http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/RiaServices/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=2661 to implement custom authentication. Based on the implementation, you first do login request from client to service. This request is async process. Since login is async, the control will go back to GUI which then starts to do data bind in SL controls using RIA services, the services happens to requires the authentication to be successful (by adding [RequireAuthentication] attribute). The trouble is, since you requested login might not have completed before the data binding starts t this stage the authentication is false because of that data binding will fail. I would like to know if you require your web services to have 'RequireAuthentication' how would you wait for authentication to complete at the server side or client side. Appriciate the help.   I'm trying to implement my own version of the 'cd' command that presents the user with a list of hard-coded directories to choose from, and the user has to enter a number corresponding to an entry in the list. The program, named my_cd.py for now, should then effectively 'cd' the user to the chosen directory. Example of how this should work: /some/directory $ my_cd.py 1) ~ 2) /bin/ 3) /usr Enter menu selection, or q to quit: 2 /bin $ Currently, I'm trying to 'cd' using os.chdir('dir'). However, this doesn't work, probably because my_cd.py is kicked off in its own child process. I tried wrapping the call to my_cd.py in a sourced bash script named my_cd.sh: #! /bin/bash function my_cd() { /path/to/my_cd.py } /some/directory $ . my_cd.sh $ my_cd ... shows list of dirs, but doesn't 'cd' in the interactive shell Any ideas on how I can get this to work? • Java escape HTML - string replace slow?

  Hi StackOverflow, I have a Java application that makes heavy use of a large file, to read, process and give through to SolrEmbeddedServer (http://lucene.apache.org/solr/). One of the functions does basic HTML escaping: private String htmlEscape(String input) { return input.replace("&", "&amp;").replace(">", "&gt;").replace("<", "&lt;") .replace("'", "&apos;").replaceAll("\"", "&quot;"); } While profiling the application, the program spends roughly 58% of the time in this function, a total of 47% in replace, and 11% in replaceAll. Now, is the Java replace that slow, or am I on the right path and should I consider the program efficient enough to have its bottleneck in Java and not in my code? (Or am I replacing wrong?)   Hello, I use a .NET richtextbox and I want to have the EnableAutoDragDrop property set to True. This allows user to drag&drop text, rtf and images around etc. However, I need to process files dropped into the richtextbox myself - I do not want them to be embedded as OLE objects when they are dropped. How can I overcome this? Is there any way to delete embedded files from richtextbox? (I've found API DragAcceptFiles which doesn't work for some reason.) Thanks!

  My application demands archiving database tables between sybase and db2 and vice-a-versa and within(db2 to db2 and sybase to sybase) using java. I am trying to understand the best strategies around in terms performance, implementation, ease of use and scalability. Here is my current process - source and destination tables with the acceptable parameters (from java) are defined within xml. the application reads the source and destination configurations and execute them sequentially. destination is sometime optional when source is just deleting data from a specific table or when the source is just calling a stored procedure. dataset between source and destination is extremely large (in millions) From top of my head, it looks like I can define dependencies between multiple source and destination combination and have them execute in parallel in multiple treads. But will this improve any performance(i hope it will)? Are there any open-source frameworks for data archiving using java? Any other thoughts on the implements side will be really helpful. Thanks

  I'm trying to render a component from withing another component. public override void Render() // ... var block = new Block(); block.Init(EngineContext, Context); block.Render(); // ... } The problem is that Block component can't find it's template. ResourceProcessingException Message: Unable to process resource 'components\CustomReportComponentComponent\default.vm': Resource could not be located I guess, other problems can arise because the component is not properly initialized. Is it possible to initialize a component from within another component's Render method, so it renders just as if called from a .vm?

  if I've string like "{ partner_name = test_partner}" OR " { partner_name : test_partner } its an example string will be very complex with several special characters included like =, [ , ] , { , } what will be the best way to convert it into a python object - so I can process it I tried with eval but it requires " ' " for string, but how can we add this special character \' before starting and ending of every word, I tried regular express re.findal('\w+') but it fails when my string contains ' _ ' or like characters as it will separate the string by ' _ ' Object of this question is my application needs, user friendly language as input - and I thought Json Dict will be good - but user is lazzy to put " ' " before and after of each string... then I thought for yaml but its also complex, if anybody can suggest better user friendly input which I use as python object - then please help me out.
