  • Not initilizaing ints in C++

    If I have a block of code in a for loop that looks like total1+= i*i;, I get a weird, long value in total1 even if i increments from 1 to 10. However, this only happens if I don't do int total1=0;. This makes me wonder, what happens if I don't do that and why do I get a number in the 2 billions instead? (Though it's not the max value in an int either).

    Hi! I'd like to know if there's a way to verify if an index exists before getting it. So it'd be way to protect my code against: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '*** -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (2) beyond bounds (0)' Like in PHP you can do: isset($object[10]); and it'll return true if it exists. Is there such a method in Objective-C/Cocoa? Thanks!

    I'm creating a list component with different numbers on each label ranging from 1 to 10. When clicked on a number I need it to bring up that many inputtext boxes one after another.. It's pretty much a multiplayer game that you select how many players are playing, then you input each name.. I'm so stuck it's ridiculous.. if anyone has a solution, or a different idea please help me out, thank you so much in advance.

  • Table sorting & pagination with jQuery and Razor in ASP.NET MVC

    Introduction jQuery enjoys living inside pages which are built on top of ASP.NET MVC Framework. The ASP.NET MVC is a place where things are organized very well and it is quite hard to make them dirty, especially because the pattern enforces you on purity (you can still make it dirty if you want so ;) ). We all know how easy is to build a HTML table with a header row, footer row and table rows showing some data. With ASP.NET MVC we can do this pretty easy, but, the result will be pure HTML table which only shows data, but does not includes sorting, pagination or some other advanced features that we were used to have in the ASP.NET WebForms GridView. Ok, there is the WebGrid MVC Helper, but what if we want to make something from pure table in our own clean style? In one of my recent projects, I’ve been using the jQuery tablesorter and tablesorter.pager plugins that go along. You don’t need to know jQuery to make this work… You need to know little CSS to create nice design for your table, but of course you can use mine from the demo… So, what you will see in this blog is how to attach this plugin to your pure html table and a div for pagination and make your table with advanced sorting and pagination features.   Demo Project Resources The resources I’m using for this demo project are shown in the following solution explorer window print screen: Content/images – folder that contains all the up/down arrow images, pagination buttons etc. You can freely replace them with your own, but keep the names the same if you don’t want to change anything in the CSS we will built later. Content/Site.css – The main css theme, where we will add the theme for our table too Controllers/HomeController.cs – The controller I’m using for this project Models/Person.cs – For this demo, I’m using Person.cs class Scripts – jquery-1.4.4.min.js, jquery.tablesorter.js, jquery.tablesorter.pager.js – required script to make the magic happens Views/Home/Index.cshtml – Index view (razor view engine) the other items are not important for the demo. ASP.NET MVC 1. Model In this demo I use only one Person class which defines Person entity with several properties. You can use your own model, maybe one which will access data from database or any other resource. Options added: tablesorter - widthFixed: true – gives fixed width of the columns tablesorter - sortList[[0,0]] – An array of instructions for per-column sorting and direction in the format: [[columnIndex, sortDirection], ... ] where columnIndex is a zero-based index for your columns left-to-right and sortDirection is 0 for Ascending and 1 for Descending. A valid argument that sorts ascending first by column 1 and then column 2 looks like: [[0,0],[1,0]] (source: http://tablesorter.com/docs/) tablesorterPager – container: $(“#pager”) – tells the pager container, the div with id pager in our case. tablesorterPager – size: the default size of each page, where I get the default value selected, so if you put selected to any other of the options in your select list, you will have this number of rows as default per page for the table too. END RESULTS 1. Table once the page is loaded (default results per page is 5 and is automatically sorted by 1st column as sortList is specified) 2. Sorted by Phone Descending 3. Changed pagination to 10 items per page 4. Sorted by Phone and Name (use SHIFT to sort on multiple columns) 5. Sorted by Date Added 6. Page 3, 5 items per page   ADDITIONAL ENHANCEMENTS We can do additional enhancements to the table. We can make search for each column. I will cover this in one of my next blogs. Stay tuned. You will be amazed of the purity of your code.Working with pagination in client side can be very useful. One of the benefits is performance, but if you have thousands of rows in your tables, you will get opposite result when talking about performance. Hence, sometimes it is nice idea to make pagination on back-end. So, the compromise between both approaches would be best to combine both of them. I use at most up to 500 rows on client-side and once the user reach the last page, we can trigger ajax postback which can get the next 500 rows using server-side pagination of the same data.   • ImgBurn fails to burn data CD-R disk due to "Layouts do not match" error

    I have a reoccurring problem with the program ImgBurn. Whenever I try and burn anything to a CD-R using ImgBurn it burns just fine, except for when I go and verify the disk. It tells me that the "Layouts do not match". Windows 7 shows the disk as completely blank. Although, I see on the bottom of the disk it has been written to. I can burn ISO files to DVD-R's just fine. This only seems to happen with CD-R's. The CD-R's I'm using are Memorex Cool Colors 52x CD-R's. I have looked on Google, and it seems like I'm not the only one this happens to. Unfortunately, no one is able to provide an explanation. I have included the log file from the last CD I just burnt.   • Getting hp-snmp-agents on HP ProLiant DL360 on Lenny working

    After receiving our HP ProLiant DL360 I'd like to integrate the machine into our Munin system and thus enable ProLiant specific information to be exposed via SNMP. I'm running Debian Lenny with kernel 2.6.26-2-vserver-amd64 . I've followed http://downloads.linux.hp.com/SDR/getting_started.html and the HP repository has been added to /etc/apt/sources.list.d/HP-ProLiantSupportPack.list . Setting up Lenny SNMP itself is not a problem, I configure it to have a public v1 community string to read all data and it works. I install hp-snmp-agents and run hpsnmpconfig and it adds additional lines to the top of /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf : dlmod cmaX /usr/lib64/libcmaX64.so snmpd gets restarted. Via lsof I can see that libcmaX64 was loaded and is used by snmpd, put I do not get any additional information out of snmp. I use snmpwalk -v 1 -c public ... and I can see many OIDs but I do not see the new ones I'd expect, most notably temperatures, fan speed and such. Is this expected behavior?

  • Wifi not working after a few minutes

    I'm using a few MacBooks and iPads connected to a router via WiFi. The problem is that a few minutes after they connect via WiFi the connection stops working. This happens on all devices. I went into the router settings by connecting via cable and everything seems in order. Connecting a laptop via cable to the router I can use internet as normal, the problem is only with WiFi. What can be the problem here?   • Cisco VPN Client dropping connection

    Using Windows XP and Cisco VPN client version 5.0.4.xxx to connect to a remote customer site. We are able to establish the connection and start an RDP session, but within 1-2 minutes the connection drops and the VPN connection disconnects. The PC making the connection is on a DMZ which is NATed to a public IP address. If we move the PC directly onto the internet without being on the DMZ the connection works and we don't encounter any disconnects. We use a PIX 515E running 7.2.4 and don't have any problems with similar setups connecting to other customer sites from the DMZ. The VPN setup on the client side is pretty basic, using IPSec over TCP port 10000. Not sure what device they are using on the peer, but my guess would be an ASA. Any idea as to what the problem would be? Below is the logs from the VPN client when the problem occurs.   • sudo in Debian squeeze inside linux-vserver always wants password

    Every since I upgraded all my linux-vserver Debian guests from Lenny to Squeeze I've the apparent problem that whenever I want to use sudo it asks me for my password. Every time. I've configured sudo to have a timeout of 30 minutes: Defaults timestamp_timeout=30 . This has been configured when it was still Lenny (note: as suggested by EightBitTony I've also tried without this setting - no change). I've a hard time figuring out what the problem here is, since I think my configuration is right. I thought about it being a problem with the file used to record the timestamp, maybe a permission issue, but was unlucky to find any hard evidence. I've compared the contents of /var/lib/sudo/ between a working and a non-working system but couldn't spot any difference. The version of sudo used in both environments is 1.7.4p4-2.squeeze.3.   • Debian, 6rd tunnel, and connection troubles

    Long story short I am having issues with IPv6 using a 6rd tunnel with my ISP, charter business. They offer a 6rd tunnel that I think I have properly set up, but the server doesn’t reply to every ipv6 request. When the server has the network interfaces idle with no traffic for about 10 minutes, then IPv6 stops accepting inbound connections. to re-allow it, I must go into the server, and make it do a outbound ipv6 connection (normally a ping) to start it back up. Whats weird though i that if I run iptraf when its not working, it still shows a inbound ipv6 packet… the server is just not replying, and I can’t figure out why. Also, if I try to access my server over IPv6 from a house about 1 mile away on the same ISP, it is never able to connect. it always times out, but again the iptraf shows a ipv6 inbound packet. Again, it just does not reply. To test if my server is accessible through IPv6 I always have to use my vzw 4g phone (they use IPv6) or ipv6proxy dot net. IPv6 (92 bytes) from 97.92.18.xxx to 24.159.218.xxx on eth0 ICMP dest unrch (port) (120 bytes) from 24.159.218.xxx to 97.92.18.xxx on eth1 its strange, like its trying to forward to LAN? (eth1 is LAN, eth0 is WAN) even with the IPv6 address being set in the hosts file to the servers domain name. With iptables set up normally with the above configurations it only says this: IPv6 (100 bytes) from 97.92.18.xxx to 24.159.218.xxx on eth0 Im REALLY stuck on this, and any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

If my web site sends that email to GMaill (either @gmail.com or another domain that's handled by Google Apps) and that user never emailed to email -- then GMail not only puts the email to spam folder, but also adds prominent red warning:Be careful with this message. Similar messages were used to steal people's personal information. Unless you trust the sender, don't click links or reply with personal information. Learn more That warning really scares many of my users, so they are afraid to open that link and confirm their email. What can I do about it? Ideally I would like that message end up in user's inbox, not spam folder. But at least how do I prevent that scary message?   • Sometimes this script fails to update the iptables

    It does not happen often, but sometimes after running the below script, checking the iptables with service iptables status shows that they weren't updated and the script doesn't output any error. I followed some online tutorial and have done these: sudo mkdir /media/FAT32 sudo chmod 777 /media/FAT32 sudo mount /dev/sda6/ /media/FAT32 after I mounted the file, I can only read but not be able to write to it. I checked the file permission, it becomes: drwxr-xr-x but after I unmounted the it then becomes drwxrwxrwx and I can read and write to it. very strange. I don't know where I've down wrong. Cheers.

  • Redmine with Apache 2 + Passenger nightmare --- site is up and available, but Redmine doesn't execute

    I was determined to figure this out myself, but I've been at it for a total of more than 10 hours, and I just can't figure this out. First, let me detail my environment (which I cannot change): Server version: Apache/2.2.15 (Unix) Ruby version: ruby 1.9.3p448 Rails version: Rails 4.0.1 Passenger version: Phusion Passenger version 4.0.5 Redmine version: 2.3.3 I have followed the Redmine instructions all the way through the test webserver to check that installation was successful with this command: ruby script/rails server webrick -e production The roadblock which I cannot overcome is getting Apache and Passenger to interpret and properly serve Redmine. I have searched pretty much every possible link within the first 10 pages or so of Google results. Everywhere I go I come across conflicting/contradicting/outdated information. We have a "weird" setup with Apache (which I inherited and cannot change). Redmine needs to be served through SSL, but Apache already has another website it's serving through SSL called Twiki. By "weird", what I mean is that our file structure is entirely different from all the tutorials out there on this version of Apache which have directories like "available-sites" and such. Here are the abbreviated versions of some of our config files: /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf (the global configuration file --- note that NO VirtualHost is defined here): ServerRoot "/etc/httpd" ... This tells me that it IS possible to have two separate sites up with one SSL configuration, so I don't think that's the problem. The problem is is that it opens up to the file index. I can navigate around my Redmine file structure, but no code ever gets executed. For example, there is a file included with Redmine called dispatch.fcgi in the public folder. https://someserver/redmine/dispatch.fcgi opens, but just as plain text code in the browser. As I understand it, in the case of using Passenger, CGI and FastCGI stuff is irrelevant/unused.

  • Command line DVD to ISO ripper

    I have an old XBOX with XBMC installed and I want to rip my dvd collection to my home server as ISO files so that I can watch them over the network. My server is headless (no monitor), so I need the software to run on Solaris, Linux or OpenBSD without X11 running. Does such a magical tool exist? I've seen vobcopy, but does that only work on VOBs? Since XBMC supports DVD menus and everything as though it was a straight disc, I'd rather have my backup work exactly as it does without needing my DVD.
