  Hi, I've got a couple of questions about the naming convention for the DisplayTemplates and EditorTemplates in MVC 2. If for example I have a customer object with a child list of account how do I: Create a display template for the list of accounts, what is the file called? When I'm doing a foreach( var c in Model.Accounts ) how do I call a display temple while in the foreach loop?   I am trying to install some Perl modules into a non-standard location, let's call it /non/standard/location. In the script which uses the module, it seems to be necessary to specify a long directory path including the version of Perl, like so: #!/usr/local/bin/perl use lib '/non/standard/location/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.9/'; use A::B; Is there any use lib or other statement which I can use which is not so long and verbose, and which does not include the actual version of Perl, in order that I don't have to go back and edit this out of the program if the version of Perl is upgraded?

  Is there any good tutorial that has all the basic rules for writing queries to store $_Post vars from php to mysql? Like when to use backticks and singleqoutes, and how to safely write code with functions like get_magic_quotes_gpc()? Another thing is, assuming there is no javascript validation(since the user can easily turn it off), how should I handle empty form fields being sent as empty $_post variables and throwing errors? Do I have to use isset() call on all the post variables? What is the best way to handle users turning off javascript validation on a form?

• WPD MTP data stream hanging on Release

  I've come across a weird problem when reading data from a MTP-compatible mobile device using the WPD (Windows Portable Devices) API, under Windows 8 (not tried any other Windows versions yet). The symptom is, when calling Release on an IStream interface obtained via the IPortableDeviceResources::GetStream function, occasionally the Release call will hang and not return until the device is disconnected from the PC. After some experimentation I've discovered that this never happens as long as the entire contents of the stream have been read. But if the stream has only been partially read (say, the first 256Kb of the file), it can happen seemingly at random (although quite frequently). This has been reproduced with an iPhone and a Windows Phone 8 mobile, so it does not seem to be device-specific. Has anyone come across this sort of issue before? And more importantly, does anyone know of a way to solve it other than by always reading the entire contents of the stream? Thanks!

Now I update the data in fb:dialog and want this update to be reflected the next time I update/call the dialog box. • Using npgsql with SSIS

  Hi, I am using npgsql as the ADO.NET provider in SSIS to connect to Postgres and create some workflows. I am able to connect to postgres but am unable to use the "Table or view" data access mode to list the tables and views. I have to resort to using "SQL command" data access mode. For the "table or view" access mode, the log shows that the last call is GetDataSourceInformation and it returns successfully. After that there is a close connection. Has anyone successfully used "Table or view" data access mode using npgsql? Thanks, Flash

  Hi, I just want to ask, I know that standart system calls in Linux are done by int instruction pointing into Interrupt Vector Table. I assume this is similiar on Windows. But, how do you call some higher-level specific system routines? Such as how do you tell Windows to create a window? I know this is handled by the code in the dll, but what actually happend at assembler-instruction level? Does the routine in dll calls software interrupt by int instruction, or is there any different approach to handle this? Thanks.

• JQuery PrettyPhoto/Lightbox with Loupe Magnifier

  Morning gang, Right, I'm trying to crowbar a magnifier, like this one, into prettyPhoto (picked because the JS is nice). The trouble I'm having is initiating the loupe function when the prettyPhoto has loaded. If I include it in the prettyPhoto JS, it just gets itself into an endless loop, or doesn't get called at all. I've nearly got it working by putting a link next to the close button that calls the function inline, like so; <a href="#" onclick="$(\'.TB_Image\').loupe(); return false;">Magnify</a> The only problem here is that the return false doesn't work? It works when the call to loupe isn't in the onclick event though? Doing it this way does run the loupe function, but the homepage gets loaded so I don't know if it actually works or not. Has anyone got any sugestions at all? All help much appreciated!

  I have an (non-virtualized) ItemsControl that binds its ItemsSource to a ObeservableCollection of ViewModel instances. Now once the large amount Model instances is loaded all the ViewModel complemnents needs to be added to that ObservableCollection. How can I add a large amount of ViewModels without making the UI Thread hang? I suppose the UI Thread hangs because each time a new item is added the ItemsControl needs to update itself and does layout etc. over and over again. Should I suspend the binding add all items and then resume? If so, how? Should I override the ObservableCollection to implement an AddRange so only 1 CollectionChanged Event is fired for adding multiple items? Or alternatively just replace the whole collection? Or is it better to add each items separately and call Dispatcher.Invoke for each item separately? So I would unblock frequently. How do you handle large dynamic lists that can not be virtualized?

  How have I to implement IEqualityComparer<DataRow> to remove duplicates rows from a DataTable with next structure: ID primary key, col_1, col_2, col_3, col_4 The default comparer doesn't work because each row has it's own, unique primary key. How to implement IEqualityComparer<DataRow> that will skip primary key and compare only data remained. • FileSystemWatcher.WaitForChanged returns, but there is still a lock on the file

  I have a program that send a document to a pdf printer driver and that driver prints to a particular directory. After the print I want to attach the pdf to an e-mail (MailMessage) and send it off. Right now, I send the document to the printer (wich spawns a new process) and then call a FileSystemWatcher.WaitForChanged(WaitForChangedResult.Created) but when the object is created, it's still not done "printing" and the pdf printer still has a lock on it, throwing an error when I try to attach that file to an e-mail. I've considered a plain Thread.Sleep(2000) or whatever, but that's far less than ideal. I considered putting the attachment code in a try/catch block and looping on failure, but again, that's just bad news. I can't really think of an elegant solution.

• How to throw a SqlException(need for mocking)

  Hi I am trying to test some exceptions in my project and one of the Exceptions I catch is SQlException. Now It seems that you can't go new SqlException() so I am not sure how I can throw a exception especially without somehow calling the database(and since it is unit tests it is usually advised not to call the database since it is slow). So I am using nunit and moq so I am not sure how to fake this. Edit Based on the answers they seem to all be based on ado.net I am using linq to sql. So that stuff is like behind the scenes.   OK... so here is my code: twitterEngine = [[MGTwitterEngine alloc] initWithDelegate:self]; [twitterEngine setConsumerKey:CONSUMER_KEY secret:CONSUMER_SECRET]; accessToken = [twitterEngine getXAuthAccessTokenForUsername:profile.twitterUserId password:profile.twitterPassword]; NSLog(@"Access token: %@", accessToken); the console shows the access token returned just fine (so it seems to work) eg. Access token: C8A24515-0F11-4B5A-8813-XXXXXXXXXXXXXX but instead of accessTokenReceived method being called next on my delegate, it calls requestFailed with a 401. How can I be getting a 401 unauthorized and getting an access token back from the method call?????

I'm finding out that a significant amount of time is being spent by my program on the Count and First methods, so I started to change to .Single, only to find out that there is no such method. • How to rollback in EF4?

  In my research about rolling back transactions in EF4, it seems everybody refers to this blog post or offers a similar explanation. In my scenario, I'm wanting to do this in a unit testing scenario where I want to rollback practically everything I do within my unit testing context to keep from updating the data in the database (yeah, we'll increment counters but that's okay). In order to do this, is it best to follow the following plan?   LS, I was planning on writing a wrapper around the System.Net.Sockets.Socket class, because I didn't feel like using the SSLStream class because I wanted to maintain backwards compatibility with other programs. I found an article which does exactly what I want, but on Windows Mobile. (Link: Enable SSL for managed socket on windows mobile) Quote: My first surprise was that SetSocketOption takes a SocketOptionName enum value as the second parameter, but this enum doesn’t have the equivalent of SO_SECURE. However, C# was nice enough to let me cast an arbitrary integer value to the enum I needed. I tried to do the same, but it doesn't work. • psexec failing with return code 122 when used from Windows service

  I've written a WCF service as a wrapper around a C# utility we've written that uses the SysInternals psexec utility to run jobs on a remote system. psexec is invoked from C# with command-line parameters that specify the domain, user and password to use. All works fine when I invoke the C# utility from PowerShell locally. However, when I run the utility from the WCF service we see a return code of 122, which corresponds to (?) "The data area passed to a system call is too small". psexec is running against Windows Server 2008. The credentials I'm passing are local administrator, in the same domain as the machine that hosts the service wrapping the utility.
