• Elements of website don't work in IE

  On the site I'm working on for my high school basketball team, certain elements don't work in Internet Explorer. The site is hermantownbasketball.com. The boys basketball sidebar should have nested drop down menus, one when you mouse over the team, such as "High School" and then another when you mouse over the grade under the team, such as 9th grade. This works perfectly fine in chrome, however, I can't get it to work in any version of Internet Explorer. Below is the part of the html and the corresponding css I am using. Unfortunately, I don't know enough css to know which part of my code IE doesn't like or how to fix it. Any help is greatly appreciated! • Batch convert Malformed PDFs to TIF on Linux

  I need to convert a multipage PDF to TIF, but it appears to be a malformed PDF provided by our client. I tried using ImageMagick and GhostScript, but they do not convert the file correctly. The result is only about 85-90% correct. The only thing I've found that appears to do the job is GIMP, but I can't find an example to use it via its Batch Processing methods for PDFs. • How to suspend and resume browser tab groups?

  Modern browsers such as Firefox and Chrome are able to shutdown and restore the same group of tabs they had before the next time you open them, and even sometimes remember additional tab state such as scroll position within the tab. I would like ideally to be able to select a group of tabs (about some coherent theme, perhaps) and save them away into some kind of "folder" that I could later open independently, without opening any other tabs. Obviously I can use bookmarks for this, but bookmarks are kind of old-fashioned. It would be excellent if it could also record forms that I had filled in but not submitted, scroll position, tab position within the tab group, and any other "dynamic" aspects of the current tab state.

• Recover deleted files on windows 2008 file server

  We have recently been hit by a weird virus which made all files and folders a system files/folders and also it hid all files and folders par some weird ones it created including: ..exe porn.exe secret.exe password.exe etc We have managed to restore the files with attrib command to unhide and unmark them as system files however we have noticed that we are missing some 4 to 5 folders of which (based on my luck) 2 of them are the two most important client we have. I am not sure if these files were deleted by the worm/virus or by my colleagues who are not owning up to them but the files are now gone. Worst of all, we do not have any backup what so ever (Yes I know, we should not have done that but it is a lesson learned and since last night we have created two forms of backup systems one to external device and one on the cloud, but I doubt any of that will help us now) We have 1 Windows 2008 File server and 4 client computers based on Windows 2007. I would be grateful if anyone can help us on how we can recover from this disaster which could potentially put us out of business.

• DAW with realtime pitchshifting

  I'm very happy with Renoise but it has a problem, it can't do realtime pitchshifting. For example, consider a breakbreat which I want to trigger at different pitches sometimes. Like I keep 'Q' pressed for a 'C' pitch, but then I press 'B' for a lower pitch. In Renoise the resulting beat is not only lower pitch, but also longer/slower. I want it to be the same speed, just a different pitch. I've been doing this externally in Audacity, then keeping a couple of different pitched versions in Renoise but that's tedious. Or consider a melodic segment snipped from a song into a sample. Say I want to play it simultaneously in its real pitch and 5 semitones higher, so it forms a sort of chord effect. Again, no easy way to do this in renoise. Is there a DAW app that does that kind of thing? I've heard of ableton live, it has 'live' in the name so maybe it can do it?

  I am searching for a software or CMS that manages and displays large online databases, as some kind of frontend to MySQL or any other database. It should be accessible through the browser, be as secure as possible (offering login). The data I'd like to store would be personal information such as name, adress and birthday - also I'd need to be able to add custom fields as well. Also forms and the possibility to download the data in an excel? table would be great. PHPmyadmin is not an option, it should be similar to a CRM but more closely adapted to managing database tables, searching for entries and filtering data. It should be possible to have many user accounts with different rights, with each of them being able to acces certain parts of the data and entering own data. Is there something out there, that might get close to what I imagine? I appreciate any help!

Some spammers recently discovered a bad security vulnerability in one of the store's forms, which are allowing them to send arbitrary emails from our system. Unfortunately, this store "feature" is built into the default.aspx page's code-behind and I have no way to disable it without shutting down the store. How can I filter out URL request with a given querystring parameter? ie, I want to filter out requests to: http://www.mysite.com/store/?id=SendSpam based on the "SendSpam" string.

• Mysql - wondering about scaling a twitter-like application ?

  Hi, I'm developing an app that is vaguely similar to twitter, in that it allows users to follow one another. I wanted to do this using google app engine, for its scalability promises, but it's proving kind of difficult to get running for a few different reasons. I'd basically like to have a _users table, and a _followers table. Users go into the users table, follower relationships go into _followers. The problem is that each row in the users table will probably have like 100 corresponding records in the _followers table as users start following one another. So the number of rows is going to explode quickly. Using app engine, the volume [shouldn't] be a problem. If I go with mysql, and I do actually start to get some traction, how do I scale this up? Am I going to just end up moving to a distributed database in the end anyway? Should I fight it out with google app engine? I read that Twitter was using mysql, and they've run into this problem, and are now switching to cassandra. Thanks

• PGU HTML Renderer can't render most sites

  I am trying to make a web browser using pygame. I am using PGU for html rendering. I am guessing the reason for this is that the if statement that checks the type of the input and creates the e variable didn't match anything.   Hello! I need to develop a tool for web log data mining. Having many sequences of urls, requested in a particular user session (retrieved from web-application logs), I need to figure out the patterns of usage and groups (clusters) of users of the website. I am new to Data Mining, and now examining Google a lot. Found some useful info, i.e. querying Frequent Pattern Mining in Web Log Data seems to point to almost exactly similar studies. So my questions are: Are there any python-based tools that do what I need or at least smth similar? Can Orange toolkit be of any help? Can reading the book Programming Collective Intelligence be of any help? What to Google for, what to read, which relatively simple algorithms to use best? I am very limited in time (to around a week), so any help would be extremely precious. What I need is to point me into the right direction and the advice of how to accomplish the task in the shortest time. Thanks in advance!

• Word 2010, how to update protected document

  The document has one "Section Break" with e.g. "Text Form Fields" above. To make this Form Field work properly I use "Restrict Editing", allow "Filling in Forms", "Select Sections" and then protect Section 1. Then "Start Enforcing Protection". Now when the document is protected above the Section Break you can't use CTRL-Aand F9 to make an update of the fields, etc. of the document below the Section Break. Is there any solution for this problem?

• My HTML5 web app crashes and I have no clue how to debug

  Hi All, I have written a word game using HTML5 canvas tag and a little bit of audio. I developed the application on the chrome web browser on a linux system. Recently during the testing phase it was tried on safari 5.0.3 on Mac and the webpage froze. Not just the canvas element, but interactive element on the page froze. I have at some times experienced this problem on google chrome when I was developing but since the console did not throw any error before this happened, I did not give it much credence. Now as per requirements I am supposed to support both chrome and safari but this dismal performance on safari has left me shocked and I cannot see what error can be thrown which might lead to such a situation. Worse yet the CPU usage on using this application peaks to 70-80percent on my 2yr old macbook running ubuntu... I can only but pity the person who uses mac to operate this app, which undoubtedly is a heavier OS. Could someone help me out with a place I can start with to find out what exactly is causing this issue. I have run profiles on this webapp on google chromes console and noticed that in the heap spanshot value increases steadily with the playing of the game, specifically (root) value which jumps up by 900 counts. Any help would be very appreciated! Thanks EDIT: I don't know if this helps, but I have noticed that even on refreshing the page after the app becomes unresponsive the page reloads and I am still not able to interact with the page elements but the tab scroll bar continues to work and I can see my application window completely. So to summaries the tab stops accepting any sort of user interaction inside the page. Edit2: Nop. It doesn't work still... The app crashes on double click on the canvas element. The console is not throwing any errors either! =/ I have noticed this problem is isolated only to safari!

  I have a problem with getting the code to work in a managed environment (VS2008 C++/CLI Win Forms App). The problem is I cannot declare the unmanaged struct (is that even possible?) inside the managed code, so I've declared a managed struct but now I have a problem how to copy bytes from buffer into that struct. • UnknownHostException again!

  Hello, I posted one question previously and all of them answered that there is some problem with DNS but i changed my DNS to many addressed and now i have the most reliable, google DNS :- 8.8.8.8 Still i get the same UnknownHostException. What can be the problem? This is my code :- DocumentBuilderFactory dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); DocumentBuilder db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder(); Document doc = db.parse("http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/india"); Infact if i pass address as something very common like :- http://google.com i still get the same error. Please help me :(. I have my submissions tomorrow. Thanks in advance :) EDIT : If i type the same address in my mozilla, it works great. So, i am sure that there is no DNS problem. 2nd EDIT :- I found this link http://www.ehow.com/how_4747553_fix-unknownhostexception-java-applications-ubuntu.html But when i run the command sudo apt-get install lib32nss-mdns i get package not found. Somebody even mentioned :- -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true But where do i write this statement of Djava? I am using Netbeans 6.8 to run my web application

• Why does the onclick function run on onclick, but not when I call it manually?

But when I override the onclick with my JS code, the alert does not pop up. Any ideas? • Creating fillable PDF form with dynamically updated fields

  Is there a way to create fillable PDF forms where a set of fields gets their data when one of the fields is filled out? The normal use case would be application form, where your name or membership number has to be entered on the top of each page. I am using LibreOffice 3.5.4.2. In a earlier version I was able to get the desired effect if I left the field names to be the same (i.e. the field names as seen in the Form Navigator). I'm open for using any free software tool. There is a similiar question asked elsewhere at ask.libreoffice.org.

• How can I measure my (SAMP) server's bandwidth usage?

  I'm running a Solaris server to serve PHP through Apache. What tools can I use to measure the bandwidth my server is currently using? I use Google analytics to measure traffic, but as far as I know, it ignores file size. I have a rough idea of the average size of the pages I serve, and can do a back-of-the-envelope calculation of my bandwidth usage by multiplying page views (from Google) by average page size, but I'm looking for a solution that is more rigorous and exact. Also, I'm not trying to throttle anything, or implement usage caps or anything like that. I'd just like to measure the bandwidth usage, so I know what it is. An example of what I'm after is the usage meter that Slicehost provides in their admin website for their users. They tell me (for another site I run) how much bandwidth I've used each month and also divide the usage for uploading and downloading. So, it seems like this data can be measured, and I'd like to be able to do it myself. To put it simply, what is the conventional method for measuring the bandwidth usage of my server?
