• MySQL is running VERY slow

  I have two servers: a VPS and a laptop. I recently re-built both of them, and MySQL is running about 20 times slower on the laptop. Both servers used to run CentOS 5.8 and I think MySQL 5.1, and the laptop used to do great so I do not think it is the hardware. For the VPS, my provider installed CentOS 6.4, and then I installed MySQL 5.1.69 using yum with the CentOS repo. For the laptop, I installed CentOS 6.4 basic server and then installed MySQL 5.1.69 using yum with the CentOS repo. my.cnf for both servers are identical, and I have shown below. For both servers, I've also included below the output from SHOW VARIABLES; as well as output from sysbench, file system information, and cpu information. I have tried adding skip-name-resolve, but it didn't help. The matrix below shows the SHOW VARIABLES output from both servers which is different. Again, MySQL was installed the same way, so I do not know why it is different, but it is and I think this might be why the laptop is executing MySQL so slowly. Why is the laptop running MySQL slowly, and how do I fix it? • MySQL is running VERY slow on CentOS 6x (not 5x)

  I have two servers: a VPS and a laptop. I recently re-built both of them, and MySQL is running about 20 times slower on the laptop. Both servers used to run CentOS 5.8 and I think MySQL 5.1, and the laptop used to do great so I do not think it is the hardware. For the VPS, my provider installed CentOS 6.4, and then I installed MySQL 5.1.69 using yum with the CentOS repo. For the laptop, I installed CentOS 6.4 basic server and then installed MySQL 5.1.69 using yum with the CentOS repo. my.cnf for both servers are identical, and I have shown below. For both servers, I've also included below the output from SHOW VARIABLES; as well as output from sysbench, file system information, and cpu information. I have tried adding skip-name-resolve, but it didn't help. The matrix below shows the SHOW VARIABLES output from both servers which is different. Again, MySQL was installed the same way, so I do not know why it is different, but it is and I think this might be why the laptop is executing MySQL so slowly. Why is the laptop running MySQL slowly, and how do I fix it? • Kernel oops on Linux running in VirtualBox breaks some IO-related functionality on the server

  We are having problems with CentOS release 6.3 running in VirtualBox on Windows 7 machines. The symptoms are the following: Everything works as normal for several hours, even days. Then something happens which breaks the system. • MSBuild (.NET 4.0) access problems

  I'm using Cruise Control .NET as my build server (Windows 2008 Server). Yesterday I upgraded my ASP.NET MVC project from VS 2008/.NET 3.5 to VS 2010/.NET 4.0. The only change I made to my ccnet.config's MSBuild task was the location of MSBuild.exe. Ever since I made that change, the build has been broken with the error: MSB4019 - The imported project "C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.targets" was not found. Confirm that the path in the declaration is correct, and that the file exists on disk. This file does, in fact, exist in the location specified (I solved a problem similar to this when setting up the build server for VS2008/.NET 3.5 by copying the files from my dev environment to my build environment). So I RDP'ed into the build machine and opened a command prompt, used MSBUILD to attempt to build my project. MSBUILD returns the error: MSB3021 - Unable to copy file "obj\debug....dll". Access to the path 'bin....dll' is denied. Since I'm running MSBUILD from the command prompt, logged in with an account that has administrative privileges, I'm assuming that MSBUILD is running with the same privileges that I have. Next, I tried to copy the file that MSBUILD was attempting to copy. In this case, I get the UAC dialog that makes me click the [Continue] button to complete the copy. I'd like to avoid installing Visual Studio 2010 on my build machine, can anyone suggest other fixes I might try?

  I have a .NET application that I want to use as a client to call an SSL SOAP web service. I have been supplied with a valid client certificate called foo.pfx. There is a password on the certificate itself. I've located the certificate at the following location: C:\certs\foo.pfx To call the web service, I need to attach the client certificate. Here's the code: public X509Certificate GetCertificateFromDisk(){ try{ string certPath = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["MyCertPath"].ToString(); //this evaluates to "c:\\certs\\foo.pfx". So far so good. X509Certificate myCert = X509Certificate.CreateFromCertFile(certPath); // exception is raised here! "The specified network password is not correct" return cert; } catch (Exception ex){ throw; } } It sounds like the exception is around the .NET application trying to read the disk. The method CreateFromCertFile is a static method that should create a new instance of X509Certificate. The method isn't overridden, and has only one argument: the path. When I inspect the Exception, I find this: _COMPlusExceptionCode = -532459699 Source=mscorlib Question: does anyone know what the cause of the exception "The specified network password is not correct" ?

I recently started using the WPF Datagrid with DataGridTemplateColumns containing the WPF AutoCompleteBox, but I'm finding trouble in implementing Clipboard.Paste functionality for these DataGridTemplateColumns. I've managed to get Clipboard.Paste working with built-in DataGridColumns via Vishal's guide here, but it doesn't work with DataGridTemplateColumns. Delving into the OnPastingCellClipboardContent method in the DataGridColumn class, it appears that fe.GetBindingExpression(CellValueProperty) is returning null rather than the required BindingExpression.   Hi What is the best way to handle code sharing in TFS 2010? We have a couple of Visual studio projects that other Visual Studio projects use. ex: Shared Project Project 1 Solution -Shared Project -Project 1 Project Project 2 Solution -Shared Project -Project 2 Project Also we have Third party code for example: Third Party -Telerik --2009.1.402.35 --2009.02.0701.35 When I open my "Project 1" solution i want my shared code project to be included in that solution. (thats the way we work today). We basically have one TFS Project that contains all the code. Now we want to use it the "right" (?) way, We would like to have Project 1 and 2 in separate TFS solutions. If I for example makes sure we have all our project in the same structure on disk and just add the shared project to my Project 1 solution (even if the projects reside in two different TFS Projects) would that work with builds? How have you solved the problem, I guess we are not the only ones having shared code between projects? Cheers /Jimmy

  Hi I have a page called SearchDcouments.aspx that displays all the matching documents as Hyperlinks in the table format as below. When the User clicks on any particular document, the sample url will be: http://localhost:52483/Home/ShowDocument?docID=280 So that the DocumentID is passed as Querystring to the ControllerMethod ShowDocument and the ID is visible in the URL. Now for Security purposes, I want to hide this way of passing the Querystring parameters. Wondering what are the alternatives to hide the DocID from the URL? Appreciate your responses.   I am on centos5. I installed python26 source with a make altinstall. Then I did a: yum install qt4 yum install qt4-devel yum install qt4-doc From riverbankcomputing.co.uk I downloaded the source for sip 4.10.2, compiled and installed fine. Then from the same site I downloaded and compiled from source PyQt-x11-4.7.3 Both installs were using the python26 version (/usr/local/bin/python2.6). So configure.py, make, and make install worked with no errors. • Can't run ASP.NET MVC 2 web app on IIS 7.5

  I'm trying to run an ASP.NET MVC 2 web application under IIS on Windows 7, but I get a 403.14 error. Here are the steps to reproduce: Open Visual Studio 2010 Create a new ASP.NET MVC 2 project called MvcApplication1 Shift+F5 to run the app. You should see http://localhost:{random_port}/ and the page will render correctly. Click on MvcApplication1, and select "Properties". Go to the "Web" section. Select "Use Local IIS Web server" and create a virtual directory. Save. Shift+F5 to run the app. You should see http://localhost/MvcApplication1/ and an IIS error HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory.. It's clear that for whatever reason, ASP.NET routing is not working correctly. Things I've already thought of and tried: Verified that all IIS features are enabled in "Turn Windows features on or off". Verified that the default website is configured to use .NET 4.0 Reassigned ASP.NET v4 scripmaps via aspnet_regiis -i in the v4.0.30319 directory. Here's the most amazing part - this is on a just-built machine. New copy of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, clean install of Visual Studio 2010 Premium, no other websites and no other work performed. Anything else I can try?

• TF203015 The Item $/path/file has an incompatible pending change. While trying to unshelve.

  I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Pro against Team Server 2010 and I had my project opened (apparently) as a solution from the repo, but I should've opened it as "web site". I found this out during compile, so I went to shelve my new changes and deleted the project from my local disk, then opened the project again from source (this time as web site) and now I can't unshelve my files. Is there any way to work around this? Did I blow something up? Do I need to do maintenance at the server? I found this question on SO #2332685 but I don't know what cache files he's talking about (I'm on XP :\ ) EDIT: Found this link after posting the question, sorry for the delay in researching, still didn't fix my problem Of course I can't find an error code for TF203015 anywhere, so no resolution either (hence my inclusion of the number in the title, yeah?) EDIT: I should probably mention that these files were never checked in in the first place. Does that matter? Can you shelve an unchecked item? Is that what I did wrong? EDIT: WHAP - FOUND IT!!! Use "Undo" on the items that don't exist because they show up in pending changes as checkins.

• Windows server 2003 default administrator password

  Sorry if this is an overly simplistic question, but I'm a bit stuck here. :) I need a windows machine for me to do some programming for class. Since I have my Macbook with me everywhere I go, I figured that it would be easiest to install a vm. And since I can get a copy of Windows server 2k3 for free via dreamspark, I thought I'd try to do that. Here's what happened though: I installed windows server (disk one). When the system booted up, vmware automatically installed VMWare tools and prompted me to restart. There was also a prompt to start the installation of disc 2, but I figured it would be better to restart before doing that. When the machine came back up, I was prompted to log in as the administrator. The problem is that I wasn't prompted to make an administrator account or password. Is there a default password I can use? I've tried all the obvious ones (blank, password, etc) and googling, but I didn't come up with anything.

• C#: Streaming an Audio file from a Server to a Client

  I am currently writing an application that will allow a user to install some form of an application (maybe a Windows Service) that will open a port on it's PC and given a particular destination on the hard disk, will then be able to stream mp3 files. I will then have another application that will connect to the server (being the user's pc) and be able to browse the hosted data by connecting to that PC (remotely ofcourse) given the port, and stream mp3 files from the server to the application I have found some tutorials online but most of them are about File Servers in C# and they download allow you to download a whole file. What I want is to stream an mp3 file so that it starts playing when a certain number of bytes are download (ie, whilst it is being buffered) How do I go about in accomplishing such a task? What I need to know specifically is how to write this application (that I will turn into a Windows Service later on) that will listen on a specified port a stream files, so that I can then access the files by something of the sort: http://<serverip>:65000/acdc/wholelottarosie.mp3 and hopefully be able to stream that file in a WPF MediaPlayer. [Update] I was following this tutorial about building a file server and sending the file from the server to the client. Is what I have to do something of the sort? [Update] Currently reading this post: Play Audio from a Stream using C# and I think it looks very promising as to how I can play streamed files; but I still don't know how I can actually stream the files from the server.

  In ASP.NET, is it possible to set a path from a web.config in a subdir that is not setup as a virtual directory? In other words, can I reference a private assembly in the ~/subdir/bin folder? Take a look at my setup below, and let me know if I'm doing something wrong, please. Let me explain why I'm doing this: my page is setup in ~/subdir. I don't have write access to the root. I have a FraudDto object that has a FraudCategory child object and I want to set this object from the values that are posted from the form. Posting a simple object is not a problem but I am struggling with how to handle complex objects with child objects. • TeamCity stopped working once I added NUnit to the mix

  I'm struggling a lot trying to get our build server going. I am currently running tests in a Windows XP virtual machine, and have installed TeamCity v5.0.3, build 10821. I am using NUnit v2.5.3. I finished the initial setup with TeamCity without any issues at all, provided that I use the sln2008 build runner that makes the entire process almost brainless. It's really quite nice that way, and very satisfying to see your first successful automated build. Now it's time to kick it up a notch and I wanted to get NUnit working. I keep the NUnit 2.5.3 assemblies in an external libs folder in SVN, so I checked that out onto the test system. I selected NUnit 2.5.3 from the build runner options, as the online instructions had recommended. But when I build, I get the following error: Window1.xaml.cs(14,7): error CS0246: The type or namespace name ‘NUnit’ could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Window1.xaml.cs(28,10): error CS0246: The type or namespace name ‘Test’ could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Window1.xaml.cs(28,10): error CS0246: The type or namespace name ‘TestAttribute’ could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Everything compiles great in the IDE. From finding blog posts and submitting comments, I got some advice and confirmed the following: I have the HintPath value set properly in my project file (points to the external lib) I can also do a full Release and Debug build from the command line using msbuild I have tried do use the NUnit installer so nunit.framework.dll gets registered into the GAC I have changed the build agent's logon account to be a user on the test system, rather than LOCAL SYSTEM. Nothing seems to help... can anyone else here offer me some advice on what to try next?

I'm starting both Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server Management Studio 2008 under domain admin user. This account is a member of group sysadmin on SQL Server. Server has firewall exceptions for both TCP and UDP on ports 135-139 and 1433-1434.   I have a web service built for SharePoint 2007 that I am trying to port to SharePoint 2010. This web service is dependent on session state to function properly, but so far, I have been enable to get session state to work at all in SharePoint 2010. This web service runs as its own web application under t he /_vti_bin virtual directory. I have tried all of the following with no luck: Ensured the "State Service" service application is running. Added the System.Web.SessionState.SessionStateModule http module to my application's web.config file. Added the System.Web.SessionState.SessionStateModule http module to my SharePoint root web.config file. Added <pages enableSessionState="true" /> to my application's web.config file. Added <pages enableSessionState="true" /> to my root web.config file. Additional Environment info: Visual Studio 2008 - SP1 .NET 3.5 - SP1 SharePoint 2010 - RC Windows Server 2008 R2 ASMX web service (not WCF) Had anyone had any luck getting a web application or web service to use session state in SharePoint 2010 yet? • MVC2 client/server validation of DateTime/Date using DataAnnotations

  The following are true: One of my columns (BirthDate) is of type Date in SQL Server. This very same column (BirthDate) is of type DateTime when EF generates the model. I am using JQuery UI Datepicker on the client side to be able to select the BirthDate. I have the following validation logic in my buddy class: [Required(ErrorMessageResourceType = typeof(Project.Web.ValidationMessages), ErrorMessageResourceName = "Required")] [RegularExpression(@"\b(0?[1-9]|1[012])[/](0?[1-9]|[12][0-9]|3[01])[/](19|20)?[0-9]{2}\b", ErrorMessageResourceType = typeof(Project.Web.ValidationMessages), ErrorMessageResourceName = "Invalid")] public virtual DateTime? BirthDate { get; set; } There are two issues with this: This will not pass server side validation (if I enable client side validation it works just fine). I am assuming that this is because the regular expression doesn't take into account hours, minutes, seconds as the value in the text box has already been cast as a DateTime on the server by the time validation occurs. If data already exists in the database and is read into the model and displayed on the page the BirthDate field shows hours, minutes, seconds in my text box (which I don't want). I can always use ToShortDateString() but I am wondering if there is some cleaner approach that I might be missing. Thanks

• ASP.NET MVC in a subfolder (only) on godaddy

  Okay, I have read many of the routing posts concerning putting asp.net mvc on godaddy. However, I have not come to a solution to my current problem. I am trying to publish an ASP.NET MVC application to a subfolder on godaddy. I have upgraded the account to use IIS 7 and I have included the MVC dlls in \bin\ deployment method. However, I suspect that my route is not correct. Currently, my routes are set up with the standard out of the box route: public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}"); routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = "" } // Parameter defaults ); } I have a subdomain set up so that it looks like office.domain.com. The subdomain is pointing at a folder "/office/" which is right off the root folder. (There is not an MVC application installed in the root folder). All of my application has been placed in this 'office' folder. When I hover over the links however, the 'office' portion shows up in the link as well. e.g. Hovering over a link to the customer controller, index action yields "office.domain.com/office/Customer" as the target. This link then gets a 404 when I attempt to go to it. What should my route be to fix this? Is there something I have neglected in setting up the subdomain in godaddy? Is this something I just can't do in godaddy's domain management "tool". Do I need to set up a virtual directory for this instead of just a directory? Update: I changed the IIS settings in godaddy to use integrated pipeline mode, per this discussion and I am no longer getting 404 errors. The application worked just fine as suggested it would.

• Restore DB - Error RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally.

  I have taken backup of SQL Server 2008 DB on server, and download them to local environment. I am trying to restore that database and it is keep on giving me following error. An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo) ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The media family on device 'C:\go4sharepoint_1384_8481.bak' is incorrectly formed. SQL Server cannot process this media family. RESTORE HEADERONLY is terminating abnormally. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 3241) For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=09.00.4053&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=3241&LinkId=20476 I have tried to create a temp DB on server and tried to restore the same backup file and that works. I have also tried no. of times downloading file from server to local pc using different options on Filezila (Auto, Binary) But its not working. After that I tried to execute following command on server. BACKUP DATABASE go4sharepoint_1384_8481 TO DISK=' C:\HostingSpaces\dbname_jun14_2010_new.bak' with FORMAT And it is giving me following error. Msg 3201, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot open backup device 'c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\Backup\ C:\HostingSpaces\dbname_jun14_2010_new.bak'. Operating system error 123(The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.). Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.
