• Convert a string representation of a hex dump to a byte array using Java?

  I am looking for a way to convert a long string (from a dump), that represents hex values into a byte array. I couldn't have phrased it better than the person that posted the same question here: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Programming_Languages/Java/Q_21062554.html But to keep it original, I'll phrase it my own way: suppose I have a string "00A0BF" that I would like interpreted as the byte[] {0x00,0xA0,0xBf} what should I do? I am a Java novice and ended up using BigInteger and watching out for leading hex zeros. But I think it is ugly and I am sure I am missing something simple...

  I have a site which I want to download using Unix wget. If you look at the source code and content of the file it contain section called SUMMARY. However after issuing a wget command like this: wget -O downdloadedtext.txt http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/IEB/Research/Acembly/av.cgi?db=mouse&c=gene&a=fiche&l=2610008E11Rik The content of the downdloadedtext.txt is incomplete and different with the source code of that site. For example it doesn't contain SUMMARY section. Is there a correct way to obtain the full content correctly? The reason I ask this because I want to automate the download from different values in that HTML.

• Generate a polygon from line.

  I want to draw a line with thickness in j2me. This can easily be achieved in desktop java by setting Pen width as thickness value. However in j2me, Pen class does not support width. My idea is to generate a polygon from the line I have, that resembles the line with thickness i want to draw. In picture, on the left is what I have, a line with points.   Hello, I'm trying to use YQL's spelling and search suggestions, but as much as I try I cant find a way to change the language/region for the query, how is this done? • Need help in filtering records based on radius value in solr

  Hi, I am using solr with Lucene spatial 2.9.1 as per http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/library/j-spatial/ I want to write a query, that will retrieve records within a given radius using hsin function, and using cartesian tiers as filters. So i wrote query like this http://localhost:8983/solr/select/?q=body:engineering colleges^0 AND _val_:"recip(hsin(0.227486,1.354193 , lat_rad, lng_rad, 4), 1, 1, 0)"^100 &&fq={!tier x=13.033993 y=77.589569 radians=false dist=4 prefix=tier_ unit=m} My records include many US records and few Indian records. For US records filtering based on radius is working fine. But for Indian records its not varying even if i change the radius . So can any one tell me if anything is wrong with the query or is there any configuration issues related to solr in order to make this work, or since record density is very less for Indian records filtering is not happening properly.Am not able to figure it out.   Hi I have recently made a new WordPress theme (named {cssgroundup}) which I am using on my blog at www.richard-dickinson.com It is only a basic WP theme for my personal use as I am quite new to the WordPress platform (?). It is a work in progress (as is the blog content!) however it displays alright in IE browser but not so well in FireFox. Can someone help me edit it so it displays properly in most browsers or advise me how I can fix this please? I have asked for help at wordpress.org forums but haven't yet had any help!   Hi, i am trying to do collision detection in visual C++ for a racing game. I found this site http://www.gamedev.net/reference/articles/article735.asp which seems like the thing i need. However i have no idea how to implement this in my code. The idea is that the players race around the course trying to find a tent with a red flag on it. When the collide witht this tent the game displays "player 1 wins" or whoever wins and then quits the game after 3 seconds. • How to properly align textboxes on a webpage with labels

  Hi, this is a CSS / design question. I have three textboxes that i want to be center aligned on a web page. Then i want a label description to the right of each one. I would have just downloaded the first entry but I am afraid it would break my server or something if I don't have apache. We use IIS only and I wouldn't want to break it somehow. I don't even need a web or webdav front end. • Stretch image to fill div, but not skew

  I'm trying to make an image stretch to fit inside a div. However I want it to overflow so that the entire div is filled. The div resizes with the page. I want an effect similar to the jQuery bgstretcher plugin (http://www.ajaxblender.com/bgstretcher-2-jquery-stretch-background-plugin-updated.html) , but I cannot use that plugin because I'm already using it for the background image on the page, and it seems to not work when you try and activate multiple instances of it. So what I'm asking is for some sort of simple jQuery function that resizes an image to completely fill a div with overflow hidden, so that there are no gaps, but without skewing the image. Edit: http://jsfiddle.net/R7UCZ/ That's sort of what I'm after, but I want the image to fill the entire div without skewing. If the image goes out of the div a bit, that's fine, but I need it to resize with the div, which resizes with the page, both height and width.

  This code in PHP sends a HTTP POST to a Django app using CURL lib. I need that this code sends POST but redirect to the page in the same submit. Like a simple form does. WRONG....when you do so, it causes an error. Set the canvas page to nothing??? FB does not allow. What do I do??? FYI, when you search for "HiFiCorder" in the normal facebook search, the canvas page is what comes up...this is horrible, please help.

• .htaccess - deny downloading of files

  I keep several fonts in the directory "/fonts/" on my server which I then load into my css files via @font-face. However, I want to make sure that people cannot download the file just by simply going to http://www.domain.com/fonts/fontname.ttf. Can I somehow prevent this, and still be able to load the font files into my css files? Because I think putting deny from all into the .htaccess file will even prevent the css files for correctly loading the fonts. I hope this makes sense.

• Embedded Google Earth Plug-Ins no longer working

  I really hope someone can help me. I just noticed that none of my website's Google Earth embedded plug-in's work anymore (in Safari, Chrome or Firefox)  All you can see now is blank space and small text that says "Information is temporarily unavailable." I have no idea why they would no longer be working.  Nothing has changed whatsoever.   Hi, I want to create a MSWindows Python program that would launch a new Firefox window with multiple tabs each time it is run. For example if I want to search "hello", a new window pops out (even if a Firefox window is already open) and then launches a Google and Bing tabs searching for "hello". If I change the keyword to "world", a new browser pops out again with Google and Bing tabs searching for "world". I've looked at the webbrowser module but couldn't get it to: 1. • Does window.open not work inside an AIR html component?

  I have a component in AIR like so: <mx:HTML id="html" width="100%" height="100%" location="https://example.com" locationChange="dispatchLocationChange(event)" /> The page it loads contains this: <a onclick="alert('onclick')">Alert</a> <a href="javascript:alert('js')">Alert</a> <a onclick="window.open('http://www.google.com','_blank')">new window</a> The 2 alerts both work. however nothing happens when you click the new window link. all 3 links works when in a real browser so I know its ok. Is there just no support for window.open in the AIR HTML component? or is this a bug? Is there a work around?

I'm no javascript master :) My intention is to add the code on very specific landing pages only, and display the message when people leave the page without downloading my trial software or reading other pages on my site.

• Securing Web Services approach valid?

  Hi , Currently I am looking at securing our web services. At the moment we are not using WCF so this is not an option. One approach I have seen and implemented locally fairly easily was the approach described in article: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/aspnet/wsFormsAuthentication.aspx Which describes adding a HttpModule which prompts for user credentials if the user browses to any pages (web services) which are contained in a services folder. Does anyone see any way that this security could fall down and could be bypassed etc. I'm really just trying to decide whether this is a valid approach to take or not? thanks
