  • Win32 API P-Invoke to bring a disk online, offline, and set unique ID

    - by Andy Schneider
I am currently using Diskpart to accomplish these functions, but i would like to be able to use P-Invoke and not have to shell out to an external process in my C# app. The example Diskpart scripts are: //Online a disk Select disk 7 disk online // Reset GPT Identifier select disk 7 UNIQUEID DISK ID=baf784e7-6bbd-4cfb-aaac-e86c96e166ee I tried searching pinvoke.net but could only find functions that dealt with volumes, not disks. Any idea on how to accomplish these diskpart commands using Pinvoke?

  • How to save preferences to somewhere other than SharedPreferences

    - by Adrian
My application is used on multiple platforms so it saves it preferences to a file (rather than to the standard Android SharedPreferences). Is there any easy of reusing the PreferenceActivity to save preferences to a file or is it a case of creating a whole new activity to do the job? If the latter is the case is there a layout I can use that will make the activity look like the normal preferences screen? PreferenceActivity uses com.android.internal.R.layout.preference_list_content but this doesn't appear to be available to apps for reuse.

  • NULL handling with subselect in Hibernate Criteria API

    - by Jens Schauder
I'm constructing a Hibernate Criterion, using a subselect as follows DetachedCriteria subselect = DetachedCriteria.forClass(NhmCode.class, "sub"); // the subselect selecting the maximum 'validFrom' subselect.add(Restrictions.le("validFrom", new Date())); // it should be in the past (null needs handling here) subselect.add(Property.forName("sub.lifeCycle").eqProperty("this.id")); // join to owning entity subselect.setProjection(Projections.max("validFrom")); // we are only interested in the maximum validFrom Conjunction resultCriterion = Restrictions.conjunction(); resultCriterion.add(Restrictions.ilike(property, value)); // I have other Restrictions as well resultCriterion.add(Property.forName("validFrom").eq(subselect)); // this fails when validFrom and the subselect return NULL return resultCriterion; It works ok so far, but the restriction on the last line before the return statement is false when validFrom and subselect result in NULL. What I need is a version which handles this case as true. Possibly by applying a NVL or coalesce or similar. How do I do this?

  • Windows C API for UTF8 to 1252

    - by Paul
I'm familiar with WideCharToMultiByte and MultiByteToWideChar conversions and could use these to do something like: UTF8 - UTF16 - 1252 I know that iconv will do what I need, but does anybody know of any MS libs that will allow this in a single call? I should probably just pull in the iconv library, but am feeling lazy. Thanks

  • Trouble with Berkeley DB JE Base API Secondary Databases and Sequences

    - by milosz
I have a class Document which consists of Id (int) and Url (String). I would like to have a primary index on Id and secondary index on Url. I would also like to have a sequence for Id auto-incrementation. So I create a SecondaryDatabase and then I create a Sequence. During initialisation of the Sequence I get an exception: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException at com.sleepycat.util.UtfOps.getCharLength(UtfOps.java:137) at com.sleepycat.util.UtfOps.bytesToString(UtfOps.java:259) at com.sleepycat.bind.tuple.TupleInput.readString(TupleInput.java:152) at pl.edu.mimuw.zbd.berkeley.zadanie.rozwiazanie.MyDocumentBiding.entryToObject(MyDocumentBiding.java:12) at pl.edu.mimuw.zbd.berkeley.zadanie.rozwiazanie.MyDocumentBiding.entryToObject(MyDocumentBiding.java:1) at com.sleepycat.bind.tuple.TupleBinding.entryToObject(TupleBinding.java:76) at pl.edu.mimuw.zbd.berkeley.zadanie.rozwiazanie.UrlKeyCreator.createSecondaryKey(UrlKeyCreator.java:20) at com.sleepycat.je.SecondaryDatabase.updateSecondary(SecondaryDatabase.java:835) at com.sleepycat.je.SecondaryTrigger.databaseUpdated(SecondaryTrigger.java:42) at com.sleepycat.je.Database.notifyTriggers(Database.java:2004) at com.sleepycat.je.Cursor.putNotify(Cursor.java:1692) at com.sleepycat.je.Cursor.putInternal(Cursor.java:1616) at com.sleepycat.je.Cursor.putNoOverwrite(Cursor.java:663) at com.sleepycat.je.Sequence.<init>(Sequence.java:188) at com.sleepycat.je.Database.openSequence(Database.java:546) at pl.edu.mimuw.zbd.berkeley.zadanie.rozwiazanie.MyFullTextSearchEngine.init(MyFullTextSearchEngine.java:131) at pl.edu.mimuw.zbd.berkeley.zadanie.testy.MyFullTextSearchEngineTest.main(MyFullTextSearchEngineTest.java:18) It seems that during the initialisation of the sequence the secondary database is forced to update. When I debug the entryToObject method of MyDocumentBiding the bytes that it tries to convert to object seem random. What am I doing wrong?

  • launching mapview from main activity (button)

    - by arc
Hi all. Going round in circles here i think. I have an activity called Locate; public class Locate extends Activity { public static String lat; public static String lon; public static String number; public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.locate); final Button buttonMaps = (Button) findViewById(R.id.ButtonMaps); buttonMaps.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), "Button Pressed", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); try { Intent i = new Intent(getBaseContext(), displayMap.class); i.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK); startActivity(i); } catch (ActivityNotFoundException e) { Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), "Activity Not Found", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } }}); // Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), "lat: " + lat + " long: " + lon + " from: " + testname, Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); } If I make the displayMap class into a normal Activity, and just have display a toast message confirming it has loaded - then it works fine. If i do this though; public class displayMap extends MapActivity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ public void onCreate() { setContentView(R.layout.displaymap); Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), "Display Map", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } @Override protected boolean isRouteDisplayed() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub return false; } } Then as soon as I click the Button, I get a force close. I have the correct 'uses-library' tag in my manifest; <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name"> <uses-library android:name="com.google.android.maps" /> I don't get what it just force closes everytime i try and load it. If I make this my onClick handler then it will fire up a working googlemaps/default mapview public void onClick(View v) { Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), "Button Pressed", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); Uri uri=Uri.parse("geo:"+Locate.lat+","+Locate.lon); StartActivity(new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, uri)); } But that is not what I am trying to do, I want my own - so that I can add overlays etc to it. But it does prove that the permission are set correctly and that the lib is there. The logcat error when the app FCs is a Unexpected DEX error. Can anyone point in the right direction here?

  • MSN Messenger API

    - by MarceloRamires
back when I was not working with programming (using skills from courses and school) I started developing a simple program that is supposed to get the Artwork of the album to which the song you're currently listening in iTunes to and set it as you Display Picture in MSN Messenger (everything had to be open at the same time). I was so excited about it, made it as nicely as I could back then (now I consider it a design and usability complete fail), and it surprisingly worked. Now, a couple of versions ahead (MSN from 8.5 to 9.0, iTunes from 8 to 9, and windows from Vista to 7) I am getting some incompatibility issues. Where I work, I use Windows 7, Windows Live Messenger 2009 and iTunes 9 - it works just just like before, but at home I have the same exact setup, but something weird happens: When I open the program (having my itunes AND msn open) it doesn't use the active MSN instance, instead it opens a new one, and doesn't work even on this opened one. I've tried it with a couple of libraries: Interop.Messenger.dll - workis like described above Interop.MessengerAPI.dll - works like described above Interop.MessengerPrivate.dll - never worked MSNMessenger.dll - the one I used before - doesn't work anymore at all What could I do ? Info: Visual Studio 2008, .NET 3.5, C#, WinForms application. I'll watch this question and add any information if requested

    - by flash3000
    Hello, I would like use google-collection in order to save the following file in a Hash with multiple keys and values Key1_1, Key2_1, Key3_1, data1_1, 0, 0 Key1_2, Key2_2, Key3_2, data1_2, 0, 0 Key1_3, Key2_3, Key3_3, data1_3, 0, 0 Key1_4, Key2_4, Key3_4, data1_4, 0, 0 The first three columns are the different keys and the last two integer are the two different values. I have already prepare a code which spilt the lines in chunks. import java.io.BufferedReader; import java.io.FileNotFoundException; import java.io.FileReader; import java.io.IOException; public class HashMapKey { public static void main(String[] args) throws FileNotFoundException, IOException { String inputFile = "inputData.txt"; BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(inputFile)); String strLine; while ((strLine = br.readLine()) != null) { String[] line = strLine.replaceAll(" ", "").trim().split(","); for (int i = 0; i < line.length; i++) { System.out.print("[" + line[i] + "]"); } System.out.println(); } } } Unfortunately, I do not know how to save these information in google-collection? Thank you in advance. Best regards,

  • Wanted: a very simple java RegExp API

    - by itsadok
I'm tired of writing Pattern p = Pattern.compile(... Matcher m = p.matcher(str); if (m.find()) { ... Over and over again in my code. I was going to write a helper class to make it neater, but I then I wondered: is there a library that tries to provide a simpler facade for Regular Expressions in Java? I'm thinking something in the style of commons-lang and Guava.

  • How to pass a serialized object to appengine java task?

    - by aloo
Hi all, I'm using java appengine and the task queue API to run async tasks. I would like to add a task to the task queue but pass a a java object as a parameter. I notic the task options api can add a parameter as a byte[] but I'm unsure how to use it. 1) How would I serialize my object to a byte[]? and 2) How would the task read the byte[] and reconstruct the original object? Thanks.

  • Trouble parsing quotes with SAX parser (javax.xml.parsers.SAXParser) on Android API 1.5

    - by johnrock
    When using a SAX parser, parsing fails when there is a " in the node content. How can I resolve this? Do I need to convert all " characters? In other words, anytime I have a quote in a node: <node>characters in node containing "quotes"</node> That node gets butchered into multiple character arrays when the Handler is parsing it. Is this normal behaviour? Why should quotes cause such a problem? Here is the code I am using: import javax.xml.parsers.SAXParser; import javax.xml.parsers.SAXParserFactory; import org.apache.http.HttpEntity; import org.apache.http.HttpResponse; import org.apache.http.client.methods.HttpGet; import org.xml.sax.InputSource; import org.xml.sax.XMLReader; ... HttpGet httpget = new HttpGet(GATEWAY_URL + "/"+ question.getId()); httpget.setHeader("User-Agent", PayloadService.userAgent); httpget.setHeader("Content-Type", "application/xml"); HttpResponse response = PayloadService.getHttpclient().execute(httpget); HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); if(entity != null) { SAXParserFactory spf = SAXParserFactory.newInstance(); SAXParser sp = spf.newSAXParser(); XMLReader xr = sp.getXMLReader(); ConvoHandler convoHandler = new ConvoHandler(); xr.setContentHandler(convoHandler); xr.parse(new InputSource(entity.getContent())); entity.consumeContent(); messageList = convoHandler.getMessageList(); }

  • emulator crashes

    - by Dave
I am setting up an Android environment for the first time on Eclipse. I have many years of Eclipse experience, but new to Android. This is being done on an Apple Mac Mini, running MacOSX 10.6.3. I am using the latest Eclipse Classic, version 3.5.2. I am trying to get the tiny hello world program running. When I run it, I get the following in the console window of Eclipse: [2010-06-12 13:48:08 - HelloAndroid] Automatic Target Mode: launching new emulator with compatible AVD 'Android2.2AVD' [2010-06-12 13:48:08 - HelloAndroid] Launching a new emulator with Virtual Device 'Android2.2AVD' [2010-06-12 13:48:11 - HelloAndroid] New emulator found: emulator-5554 [2010-06-12 13:48:11 - HelloAndroid] Waiting for HOME ('android.process.acore') to be launched... • Does it make sense to have more than one UDP Datagram socket on standby? Are simultaneous packets dr

    - by Gubatron
I'm coding a networking application on Android. I'm thinking of having a single UDP port and Datagram socket that receives all the datagrams that are sent to it and then have different processing queues for these messages. I'm doubting if I should have a second or third UDP socket on standby. Some messages will be very short (100bytes or so), but others will have to transfer files. My concern is, will the Android kernel drop the small messages if it's too busy handling the bigger ones?

  • Best practices for TDD BDD with code that uses external services / api

    - by adam
I'm using a twitter gem which basically accesses twitter and lets me grab tweets, timeline etc. Its really good but I have a lot of my code that uses the stuff it returns and I need to test it. The things the gem returns aren't exactly simple strings, there pretty complex objects (scary as well) so im left scratching my head. So basically I'm looking for an answer, book, blog, open-source project that can show me the rights and wrongs of testing around external services. answers that are either not language centric or ruby/rails centric would most greatly be appreciated.

  • WebPage resize on HD Devices like Nexus One

    - by christian Muller
Hi, our Webpage: http://www.checkdent.com/mobile/sv.php?id=12332181087788749 looks fine on Android G1, but comes resized on the Google Nexus (higher resolution) Half part of the Page is outside of the View! I implemented as mentioned at several places the: target-densityDpi=device-dpi < meta content="minimum-scale=1.0, width=device-width, , target- densityDpi=device-dpi, maximum-scale=0.6667, user-scalable=no" name="viewport" / it works great within the 'android browser' but in my Webview Application it still resize!! What can i Do? Regards Chris

  • Instant Messenger proxy with web-based, searchable chat logs and mobile support

    - by zpinter
Does anybody here know of a decent setup for having multiple computers and devices (iPhone/Android) logged into the same IM accounts (yahoo, gtalk, AIM) with consolidated web-based chat logs? I've tried/thought of a few approaches: IRC w/ IRSSI and bitlbee (was nice, but not a great solution for phones and chat logs were painful) Google Talk (would be great if I could just use this, but I need to support Yahoo - perhaps a Jabber relay?) Meebo (can this be used as a proxy?)
