    does the object creating a sub appdomain get instantiated in that sub appdomain? I have an object that is in the main AppDomain and it is creating another AppDomain and it requires the calling class to be serializable and is creating an instance of the calling class in the new sub AppDomain. I'm wondering if that is how it is, or if there is a way that I can create the sub appDomain but still hold on to the original instantiation of the calling object in the main appDomain

    I have a Visual Studio 2008 C# .NET 2.0 CF project with an abstract class derived from Component. From that class, I derive several concrete classes (as in my example below). But, when I go to exit my Form, though the Form's Dispose() member is called and components.Dispose() is called, my components are never disposed.   • breakpoint inside QComboBox subclass not working

    I have subclassed QComboBox to customize it for special needs. The subclass is used to promote QComboBoxes in a ui file from QtDesigner. Everything works except that when I put a break point in a slot, the program does not stop at the breakpoint. I do however know that it is being called from the result it generates. I checked other slots in my program and they work fine with breakpoints. Doing a clean and rebuild all did not fix it. What could be causing this and is there anything I can do about it? The slot in question is the only one in the subclass and is called "do_indexChanged()". You can find the slot on line 37 of the class header below and the signal-slot connection on line 10 of the class source file.   • Polymorphic :has_many, :through as module in Rails 3.1 plugin

    I've search everywhere for a pointer to this, but can't find one. Basically, I want to do what everyone else wants to do when they create a polymorphic relationship in a :has_many, :through way… but I want to do it in a module. I keep getting stuck and think I must be overlooking something simple. To wit: module ActsPermissive module PermissiveUser def self.included(base) base.extend ClassMethods end module ClassMethods def acts_permissive has_many :ownables has_many :owned_circles, :through => :ownables end end end class PermissiveCircle < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :ownable, :polymorphic => true end end With a migration that looks like this: create_table :permissive_circles do |t| t.string :ownable_type t.integer :ownable_id t.timestamps end The idea, of course, is that whatever loads acts_permissive will be able to have a list of circles that it owns. For simple tests, I have it "should have a list of circles" do user = Factory :user user.owned_circles.should be_an_instance_of Array end which fails with: Failure/Error: @user.circles.should be_an_instance_of Array NameError: uninitialized constant User::Ownable I've tried: using :class_name => 'ActsPermissive::PermissiveCircle' on the has_many :ownables line, which fails with: Failure/Error: @user.circles.should be_an_instance_of Array ActiveRecord::HasManyThroughSourceAssociationNotFoundError: Could not find the source association(s) :owned_circle or :owned_circles in model ActsPermissive::PermissiveCircle. Try 'has_many :owned_circles, :through => :ownables, :source => <name>'. Is it one of :ownable? while following the suggestion and setting :source => :ownable fails with Failure/Error: @user.circles.should be_an_instance_of Array ActiveRecord::HasManyThroughAssociationPolymorphicSourceError: Cannot have a has_many :through association 'User#owned_circles' on the polymorphic object 'Ownable#ownable' Which seems to suggest that doing things with a non-polymorphic-through is necessary. Is there any way (without removing and re-adding) that I could effectively re-index the values; so change the object at index 1 to now be at index 10 for example? For example, this doesn't work: myClass[1].Index = 10;

    I'm learning JavaScript, and I can't understand why you'd make methods that aren't 'privileged,' that is, that aren't defined in the constructor but rather the class' prototype. I understand the idea of encapsulation and all, but you never encapsulate parts of a class from the rest of it in most of the OO world.

    In some languages where you cannot override the () operator, I have seen methods with a single underscore, usually for 'helper' classes. Something likes this: class D10 { public function _() { return rand(1,10); } } Is it better to have the function called Roll()? Is a underscore fine? After all, there is only one function, and it removes the need to look up the name of the class. Any thoughts?

    I want to create a table which displays in each row a set of data, in addition to a radio button for possible selection. This can be achieved easily by using a simple table model class which extends the DefaultTableModel and a cell renderer and editor class which implements the TableCellRenderer and TableCellEditor interfaces respectively. What I really couldn't manage to do is to make the table to display initially one of the elements (rows) initially selected. It seems straightforward but it isn't...does anybody have a clue about it?

    To illustrate: class Customer has_many :sales_orders end class SalesOrder belongs_to :customer end i want to have customer to list sales_order which is ready to be sent, should i: put the routing http://.../sales_orders/can_be_delivered or create a new controller for reporting http://.../reports/sales_orders_can_be_delivered for the 1st one, what should goes in the route.rb? for the 2nd one, nothing goes in route.rb, we can use the last defined route which is :controller/:action.. <-- but this isn't named route any ideas for this kind of problem?
