  • wpf dispatcher/threading issue

    - by phm
    Hello I have a problem in my code and I am not able to fix it at all. private static void SetupImages(object o) { int i = (int)o; BitmapImage bi = GetBitmapObject(i); img = new System.Windows.Controls.Image();//declared as static outside img.Source = bi;//crash here img.Stretch = Stretch.Uniform; img.Margin = new Thickness(5, 5, 5, 5); } which is called like this: for (int i = 0; i < parameters.ListBitmaps.Count; i++) { ParameterizedThreadStart ts = new ParameterizedThreadStart(SetupImages); Thread t = new Thread(ts); t.SetApartmentState(ApartmentState.STA); t.Start(i); t.Join(); //SetupImages(i); parameters.ListImageControls.Add(img); } It always crashes on this line: img.Source = bi; The error is: "An unhandled exception of type 'System.InvalidOperationException' occurred in WindowsBase.dll Additional information: The calling thread cannot access this object because a different thread owns it." Thanks

  • Windows 7 Seems to break SWT Control.print(GC)

    - by GreenKiwi
    A bug has been filed and fixed (super quickly) in SWT: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=305294 Just to preface this, my goal here is to print the two images into a canvas so that I can animate the canvas sliding across the screen (think iPhone), sliding the controls themselves was too CPU intensive, so this was a good alternative until I tested it on Win7. I'm open to anything that will help me solve my original problem, it doesn't have to be fixing the problem below. Does anyone know how to get "Control.print(GC)" to work with Windows 7 Aero? I have code that works just fine in Windows XP and in Windows 7, when Aero is disabled, but the command: control.print(GC) causes a non-top control to be effectively erased from the screen. GC gc = new GC(image); try { // As soon as this code is called, calling "layout" on the controls // causes them to disappear. control.print(gc); } finally { gc.dispose(); } I have stacked controls and would like to print the images from the current and next controls such that I can "slide" them off the screen. However, upon printing the non-top control, it is never redrawn again. Here is some example code. (Interesting code bits are at the top and it will require pointing at SWT in order to work.) Thanks for any and all help. As a work around, I'm thinking about swapping controls between prints to see if that helps, but I'd rather not. import org.eclipse.swt.SWT; import org.eclipse.swt.custom.StackLayout; import org.eclipse.swt.events.SelectionAdapter; import org.eclipse.swt.events.SelectionEvent; import org.eclipse.swt.graphics.GC; import org.eclipse.swt.graphics.Image; import org.eclipse.swt.graphics.Point; import org.eclipse.swt.layout.GridData; import org.eclipse.swt.layout.GridLayout; import org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Button; import org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Composite; import org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Control; import org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display; import org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Label; import org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Shell; public class SWTImagePrintTest { private Composite stack; private StackLayout layout; private Label lblFlip; private Label lblFlop; private boolean flip = true; private Button buttonFlop; private Button buttonPrint; /** * Prints the control into an image * * @param control */ protected void print(Control control) { Image image = new Image(control.getDisplay(), control.getBounds()); GC gc = new GC(image); try { // As soon as this code is called, calling "layout" on the controls // causes them to disappear. control.print(gc); } finally { gc.dispose(); } } /** * Swaps the controls in the stack */ private void flipFlop() { if (flip) { flip = false; layout.topControl = lblFlop; buttonFlop.setText("flop"); stack.layout(); } else { flip = true; layout.topControl = lblFlip; buttonFlop.setText("flip"); stack.layout(); } } private void createContents(Shell shell) { shell.setLayout(new GridLayout(2, true)); stack = new Composite(shell, SWT.NONE); GridData gdStack = new GridData(GridData.FILL_BOTH); gdStack.horizontalSpan = 2; stack.setLayoutData(gdStack); layout = new StackLayout(); stack.setLayout(layout); lblFlip = new Label(stack, SWT.BOLD); lblFlip.setBackground(Display.getCurrent().getSystemColor( SWT.COLOR_CYAN)); lblFlip.setText("FlIp"); lblFlop = new Label(stack, SWT.NONE); lblFlop.setBackground(Display.getCurrent().getSystemColor( SWT.COLOR_BLUE)); lblFlop.setText("fLoP"); layout.topControl = lblFlip; stack.layout(); buttonFlop = new Button(shell, SWT.FLAT); buttonFlop.setText("Flip"); GridData gdFlip = new GridData(); gdFlip.horizontalAlignment = SWT.RIGHT; buttonFlop.setLayoutData(gdFlip); buttonFlop.addSelectionListener(new SelectionAdapter() { @Override public void widgetSelected(SelectionEvent e) { flipFlop(); } }); buttonPrint = new Button(shell, SWT.FLAT); buttonPrint.setText("Print"); GridData gdPrint = new GridData(); gdPrint.horizontalAlignment = SWT.LEFT; buttonPrint.setLayoutData(gdPrint); buttonPrint.addSelectionListener(new SelectionAdapter() { @Override public void widgetSelected(SelectionEvent e) { print(lblFlip); print(lblFlop); } }); } /** * @param args */ public static void main(String[] args) { Shell shell = new Shell(); shell.setText("Slider Test"); shell.setSize(new Point(800, 600)); shell.setLayout(new GridLayout()); SWTImagePrintTest tt = new SWTImagePrintTest(); tt.createContents(shell); shell.open(); Display display = Display.getDefault(); while (shell.isDisposed() == false) { if (display.readAndDispatch() == false) { display.sleep(); } } display.dispose(); } }

  • JPopupMenu getParent() returning a null?

    - by Zenzen
    Ok so I'm working on an Eclipse plugin based on the JGraph example. The problem is I can't really get the "save" method to work, here's how the program works in short: - I have a DiagramEditor class with an init() method, where I create a GraphEditor object and call the createFrame() methord of that object. - GraphEditor extends the BasicGraphEditor (which extends JPanel), the createFrame() method returns a JFrame and has a line "frame.setJMenuBar(menuBar)" - the "menuBar" is an object variable, which is initialized in the BasicGraphEditor. Till here everything is cool, the problem is with the action listener which is supposed to save a file. To get the graph I need to get the GraphEditor component, so I do a Component component = (Component) e.getSource() whitch is the ActionEvent passed to that action listener and at that stage is the JMenuItem "save", then I get the parent which is the JPopupMenu, then I want to get that JPopupMenu's parent which should be the GraphEdiotor, but instead I get a null. Any idea why? Here's some source code: DiagramEditor.java: @Override public void init(IEditorSite site, IEditorInput input) throws PartInitException { setSite(site); setInput(input); this.diagram = ((DiagramEditorInput)input).getDiagram(); setPartName(this.diagram.getName()); gEditor = new GraphEditor(); gEditor.createFrame().setVisible(true); } BasicGraphEditor.java: public JFrame createFrame() { JFrame frame = new JFrame(); frame.getContentPane().add(this); frame.setJMenuBar(menuBar); //frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); frame.setSize(870, 640); return frame; } In the constructor: menuBar = new JMenuBar(); menu = new JMenu("File"); menu.setMnemonic(KeyEvent.VK_F); menuBar.add(menu); JMenuItem openMenuItem = new JMenuItem("Open", KeyEvent.VK_O); // ADD FILE OPENING //openMenuItem.addActionListener(menuListener); menu.add(openMenuItem); JMenuItem saveMenuItem = new JMenuItem("Save", new ImageIcon("/images/save.gif")); saveMenuItem.setMnemonic(KeyEvent.VK_S); saveMenuItem.addActionListener( new SaveAction(false) ); menu.add(saveMenuItem); // menu.add(new SaveAction(false)); JMenuItem saveMenuItemAs = new JMenuItem("SaveAs", new ImageIcon("/images/saveas.gif")); //saveMenuItemAs.setMnemonic(KeyEvent.VK_S); saveMenuItemAs.addActionListener( new SaveAction(true) ); menu.add(saveMenuItemAs); //menu.add(new SaveAction(true)); JMenuItem closeMenuItem = new JMenuItem("Close", KeyEvent.VK_C); closeMenuItem.addActionListener( new ActionListener() { public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { System.exit(0); } } ); menu.add(closeMenuItem);

  • Convert SQL with Inner AND Outer Join to L2S

    - by Refracted Paladin
    I need to convert the below Sproc to a Linq query. At the very bottom is what I have so far. For reference the fields behind the "splat"(not my sproc) are ImmunizationID int, HAReviewID int, ImmunizationMaintID int, ImmunizationOther varchar(50), ImmunizationDate smalldatetime, ImmunizationReasonID int The first two are PK and FK, respectively. The other two ints are linke to the Maint Table where there description is stored. That is what I am stuck on, the INNER JOIN AND the LEFT OUTER JOIN Thanks, SELECT tblHAReviewImmunizations.*, tblMaintItem.ItemDescription, tblMaintItem2.ItemDescription as Reason FROM dbo.tblHAReviewImmunizations INNER JOIN dbo.tblMaintItem ON dbo.tblHAReviewImmunizations.ImmunizationMaintID = dbo.tblMaintItem.ItemID LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.tblMaintItem as tblMaintItem2 ON dbo.tblHAReviewImmunizations.ImmunizationReasonID = tblMaintItem2.ItemID WHERE HAReviewID = @haReviewID My attempt so far -- public static DataTable GetImmunizations(int haReviewID) { using (var context = McpDataContext.Create()) { var currentImmunizations = from haReviewImmunization in context.tblHAReviewImmunizations where haReviewImmunization.HAReviewID == haReviewID join maintItem in context.tblMaintItems on haReviewImmunization.ImmunizationReasonID equals maintItem.ItemID into g from maintItem in g.DefaultIfEmpty() let Immunization = GetImmunizationNameByID( haReviewImmunization.ImmunizationMaintID) select new { haReviewImmunization.ImmunizationDate, haReviewImmunization.ImmunizationOther, Immunization, Reason = maintItem == null ? " " : maintItem.ItemDescription }; return currentImmunizations.CopyLinqToDataTable(); } } private static string GetImmunizationNameByID(int? immunizationID) { using (var context = McpDataContext.Create()) { var domainName = from maintItem in context.tblMaintItems where maintItem.ItemID == immunizationID select maintItem.ItemDescription; return domainName.SingleOrDefault(); } }

  • Why Does This Maintainability Index Increase?

    - by Timothy
    I would be appreciative if someone could explain to me the difference between the following two pieces of code in terms of Visual Studio's Code Metrics rules. Why does the Maintainability Index increase slightly if I don't encapsulate everything within using ( )? Sample 1 (MI score of 71) public static String Sha1(String plainText) { using (SHA1Managed sha1 = new SHA1Managed()) { Byte[] text = Encoding.Unicode.GetBytes(plainText); Byte[] hashBytes = sha1.ComputeHash(text); return Convert.ToBase64String(hashBytes); } } Sample 2 (MI score of 73) public static String Sha1(String plainText) { Byte[] text, hashBytes; using (SHA1Managed sha1 = new SHA1Managed()) { text = Encoding.Unicode.GetBytes(plainText); hashBytes = sha1.ComputeHash(text); } return Convert.ToBase64String(hashBytes); } I understand metrics are meaningless outside of a broader context and understanding, and programmers should exercise discretion. While I could boost the score up to 76 with return Convert.ToBase64String(sha1.ComputeHash(Encoding.Unicode.GetBytes(plainText))), I shouldn't. I would clearly be just playing with numbers and it isn't truly any more readable or maintainable at that point. I am curious though as to what the logic might be behind the increase in this case. It's obviously not line-count.

  • NHibernate Validator - how to validate enum type

    - by Herr W.
    I'm using nhibernate validator in my current solution. Everythings is almost fine but... My view model has a property of type Gender (see example below) public virtual Gender Gender { get; set; } public enum Gender { Female = 1, Male = 2 } Now i like to have some validation to ensure that the gender property ist set. But neither the NotEmpty nor the NotNull Attribute fulfil the requirement. Is there a kind of a generic solution or best practice to handle enum validations. Thanks in advance.

  • Question regarding inheritance in wxWidgets.

    - by celestialorb
    Currently I'm attempting to write my own wxObject, and I would like for the class to be based off of the wxTextCtrl class. Currently this is what I have: class CommandTextCtrl : public wxTextCtrl { public: void OnKey(wxKeyEvent& event); private: DECLARE_EVENT_TABLE() }; Then later on I have this line of code, which is doesn't like: CommandTextCtrl *ctrl = new CommandTextCtrl(panel, wxID_ANY, *placeholder, *origin, *size); ...and when I attempt to compile the program I receive this error: error: no matching function for call to ‘CommandTextCtrl::CommandTextCtrl(wxPanel*&, <anonymous enum>, const wxString&, const wxPoint&, const wxSize&)’ It seems that it doesn't inherit the constructor method with wxTextCtrl. Does anyone happen to know why it doesn't inherit the constructor? Thanks in advance for any help!

  • 500 error on function call in Codeigniter

    - by Ilia Lev
    I am using just installed CI 2.1.3 Following phpacademy tutorial I wrote in the routes.php: $route['default_controller'] = "site"; (instead of: $route['default_controller'] = "welcome";) and in controllers/site.php: <?php if ( ! defined('BASEPATH')) exit('No direct script access allowed'); class Site extends CI_Controller { public function index() { echo "default function started.<br/>"; } public function hello(){ echo "hello function started.<br/>"; } } After uploading it to the server and going to the [www.mydomain.ext] it works ok (writes: "default function started.") BUT if I add 'this-hello();' to the index() function it throws a 500 error. Why does it happen and how can I resolve this? Thank you in advance.

  • What am I not getting about this abstract class implementation?

    - by Schnapple
    PREFACE: I'm relatively inexperienced in C++ so this very well could be a Day 1 n00b question. I'm working on something whose long term goal is to be portable across multiple operating systems. I have the following files: Utilities.h #include <string> class Utilities { public: Utilities() { }; virtual ~Utilities() { }; virtual std::string ParseString(std::string const& RawString) = 0; }; UtilitiesWin.h (for the Windows class/implementation) #include <string> #include "Utilities.h" class UtilitiesWin : public Utilities { public: UtilitiesWin() { }; virtual ~UtilitiesWin() { }; virtual std::string ParseString(std::string const& RawString); }; UtilitiesWin.cpp #include <string> #include "UtilitiesWin.h" std::string UtilitiesWin::ParseString(std::string const& RawString) { // Magic happens here! // I'll put in a line of code to make it seem valid return ""; } So then elsewhere in my code I have this #include <string> #include "Utilities.h" void SomeProgram::SomeMethod() { Utilities *u = new Utilities(); StringData = u->ParseString(StringData); // StringData defined elsewhere } The compiler (Visual Studio 2008) is dying on the instance declaration c:\somepath\somecode.cpp(3) : error C2259: 'Utilities' : cannot instantiate abstract class due to following members: 'std::string Utilities::ParseString(const std::string &)' : is abstract c:\somepath\utilities.h(9) : see declaration of 'Utilities::ParseString' So in this case what I'm wanting to do is use the abstract class (Utilities) like an interface and have it know to go to the implemented version (UtilitiesWin). Obviously I'm doing something wrong but I'm not sure what. It occurs to me as I'm writing this that there's probably a crucial connection between the UtilitiesWin implementation of the Utilities abstract class that I've missed, but I'm not sure where. I mean, the following works #include <string> #include "UtilitiesWin.h" void SomeProgram::SomeMethod() { Utilities *u = new UtilitiesWin(); StringData = u->ParseString(StringData); // StringData defined elsewhere } but it means I'd have to conditionally go through the different versions later (i.e., UtilitiesMac(), UtilitiesLinux(), etc.) What have I missed here?

  • Inner join and outer join options in Entity Framework 4.0

    - by bigb
    I am using EF 4.0 and I need to implement query with one inner join and with N outer joins I started to implement this using different approaches but get into trouble at some point. Here is two examples how I started of doing this using ObjectQuery<'T' and Linq to Entity 1)Using ObjectQuery<'T' I implement flexible outer join but I don't know how to perform inner join with entity Rules in that case (by default Include("Rules") doing outer join, but i need to inner join by Id). public static IEnumerable<Race> GetRace(List<string> includes, DateTime date) { IRepository repository = new Repository(new BEntities()); ObjectQuery<Race> result = (ObjectQuery<Race>)repository.AsQueryable<Race>(); //perform outer joins with related entities if (includes != null) foreach (string include in includes) result = result.Include(include); //here i need inner join insteard of default outer join result = result.Include("Rules"); return result.ToList(); } 2)Using Linq To Entity I need to have kind of outer join(somethin like in GetRace()) where i may pass a List with entities to include) and also i need to perform correct inner join with entity Rules public static IEnumerable<Race> GetRace2(List<string> includes, DateTime date) { IRepository repository = new Repository(new BEntities()); IEnumerable<Race> result = from o in repository.AsQueryable<Race>() from b in o.RaceBetRules select new { o }); //I need here: // 1. to perform the same way inner joins with related entities like with ObjectQuery above //here i getting List<AnonymousType> which i cant cast to //IEnumerable<Race> when i did try to cast like //(IEnumerable<Race>)result.ToList(); i did get error: //Unable to cast object of type //'System.Collections.Generic.List`1[<>f__AnonymousType0`1[BetsTipster.Entity.Tip.Types.Race]]' //to type //'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable`1[BetsTipster.Entity.Tip.Types.Race]'. return result.ToList(); } May be someone have some ideas about that.

  • Android spinner inside a custom control - OnItemSelectedListener does not trigger

    - by Idan
    I am writing a custom control that extends LinearLayout. Inside that control I am using a spinner to let the user select an item from a list. The problem I have is that the OnItemSelectedListener event does not fire. When moving the same code to an Activity/Fragment all is working just fine. I have followed some answers that was given to others asking about the same issue, and nothing helped. still the event does not fire. This is my code after I followed the answers that suggested to put the spinner inside my layout XML instead of by code. I am getting the same result when I try to just "new Spinner(ctx)"... layout XML: <Spinner android:id="@+id/accSpinner" android:layout_width="0dip" android:layout_height="0dip" /> Initialization function of the control (called on the control constructor): private void init() { LayoutInflater layoutInflater = LayoutInflater.from(mContext); mAccountBoxView = layoutInflater.inflate(R.layout.control_accountselector, null); mTxtAccount = (TextView)mAccountBoxView.findViewById(R.id.txtAccount); mSpinner = (Spinner)mAccountBoxView.findViewById(R.id.accSpinner); mAccountBoxView.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { mSpinner.performClick(); } }); setSpinner(); addView(mAccountBoxView); } private void setSpinner() { ArrayAdapter<String> dataAdapter = new ArrayAdapter<String>(mContext, android.R.layout.simple_spinner_item, mItems); dataAdapter.setDropDownViewResource(android.R.layout.simple_spinner_dropdown_item); mSpinner.setAdapter(dataAdapter); mSpinner.setOnItemSelectedListener(new OnItemSelectedListener() { @Override public void onItemSelected(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int position, long id) { String selectedItem = mItems.get(position); handleSelectedItem(selectedItem); } @Override public void onNothingSelected(AdapterView<?> parent) { } }); } The spinner raises just fine when i touch my control and the list of items is there as it should. When I click an item the spinner closes but I am never getting to onItemSelected nor onNothingSelected.. Any ideas?

  • Displaying untrusted HTML using PHP

    - by esryl
    I have a read a number of excellent questions and answers today about dealing with user input. I am now using htmlspecialchars() to display user data in the create/edit forms (but accepting the raw input via prepared PDO statements into my database). The main question I know have is, what do you do when you are allowing the user to submit HTML which will then be displayed to the public. Obviously htmlspecialchars() is no longer suitable as it just encodes the tags and renders the content useless for purpose. My application is currently accepting HTML from an admin for product descriptions. This would allow a malicious admin to inject potentially unsafe data into public facing pages. How do people cope with this?

  • Return an empty IEnumerator

    - by Rekreativc
    Hello! I have an interface that, among other things, implements a "public IEnumerator GetEnumerator()" method, so I can use the interface in a foreach statement. I implement this interface in several classes and in one of them, I want to return an empty IEnumerator. Right now I do this the following way: public IEnumerator GetEnumerator() { ArrayList arr = new ArrayList(); return arr.GetEnumerator(); } However I consider this an ugly hack, and I can't help but think that there is a better way of returning an empty IEnumerator. Is there?

  • Problem implementing Interceptor pattern

    - by ph0enix
    I'm attempting to develop an Interceptor framework (in C#) where I can simply implement some interfaces, and through the use of some static initialization, register all my Interceptors with a common Dispatcher to be invoked at a later time. The problem lies in the fact that my Interceptor implementations are never actually referenced by my application so the static constructors never get called, and as a result, the Interceptors are never registered. If possible, I would like to keep all references to my Interceptor libraries out of my application, as this is my way of (hopefully) enforcing loose coupling across different modules. Hopefully this makes some sense. Let me know if there's anything I can clarify... Does anyone have any ideas, or perhaps a better way to go about implementing my Interceptor pattern? Update: I came across Spring.NET. I've heard of it before, but never really looked into it. It sounds like it has a lot of great features that would be very useful for what I'm trying to do. Does anyone have any experience with Spring.NET? TIA, Jeremy

  • .net Studio Local Database

    - by testerwpf
    Hello everyone, i am designing a local database in .net with wpf as gui. I have added a new database, and added a new table. Through the TableAdapter i generated 2 statements ( 1 statement is a select stmt and 1 is a insert) , i insert name and firstname (id is auto generated). It works fine, i can display the table in a datagrid (wpf toolkit) and also add new items (name,firstname), when i close and start the application everything is fine (data in table is stored) BUT when i try to preview data in my database dataset (where my Adapters exist) , no data is displayed and then the table gets deleted.. why? public partial class MainWindow : Window { public MainWindow() { this.InitializeComponent(); PlayerTableAdapter objPlayerTableAdapter = new PlayerTableAdapter(); objDataGridResults.ItemsSource = objPlayerTableAdapter.GetDataAllPlayer(); } //Button Event onClick private void m_voidAddPlayer(object sender, System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs e) { PlayerTableAdapter objPlayerTableAdapter = new PlayerTableAdapter(); objPlayerTableAdapter.InsertQueryPlayer(objTextBoxPlayerName.Text.ToString(), objTextBoxPlayerFirstName.Text.ToString()); objDataGridResults.ItemsSource = objPlayerTableAdapter.GetDataAllPlayer(); } }

  • Flex AS3: ProgressBar doesn't move

    - by jolierouge
    Hey All, I am a little stuck and need some advice/help. I have a progress bar: <mx:ProgressBar id="appProgress" mode="manual" width="300" label="{appProgressMsg}" minimum="0" maximum="100"/> I have two listener functions, one sets the progress, and one sets the appProgressMsg: public function incProgress(e:TEvent):void { var p:uint = Math.floor(e.data.number / e.data.total * 100); trace("Setting Perc." + p); appProgress.setProgress(p, 100); } public function setApplicationProgressStep(e:TEvent):void { trace("Setting step:" + e.data); appProgressMsg = e.data; } I want to reuse this progress bar alot. And not necessarily for ProgressEvents, but when going through steps. For instance, I loop over a bunch of database inserts, and want to undate the progress etc. Here is a sample: public function updateDatabase(result:Object):void { var total:int = 0; var i:int = 0; var r:SQLResult; trace("updateDatabase called."); for each (var table:XML in this.queries.elements("table")) { var key:String = table.attribute("name"); if (result[key]) { send(TEvent.UpdateApplicationProgressStep, "Updating " + key); i = 1; total = result[key].length; for each (var row:Object in result[key]) { //now, we need to see if we already have this record. send(TEvent.UpdateApplicationProgress, { number:i, total: total } ); r = this.query("select * from " + key + " where server_id = '" + row.id + "'"); if (r.data == null) { //there is no entry with this id, make one. this.query(table.insert, row); } else { //it exists, so let's update. this.update(key, row); } i++; } } } } Everything works fine. That is, the listener functions are called and I get trace output like: updateDatabase called. Setting step:Updating project Setting Perc 25 Setting Perc 50 Setting Perc 75 Setting Perc 100 The issue is, only the very last percent and step is shown. that is, when it's all done, the progress bar jumps to 100% and shows the last step label. Does anyone know why this is? Thanks in advance for any help, Jason

  • PHP PDO: Fetching data as objects - properties assigned BEFORE __construct is called. Is this correc

    - by Erik
    The full question should be "Is this correct or is it some bug I can't count on?" I've been working with PDO more and in particular playing with fetching data directly into objects. While doing so I discovered this: If I fetch data directly into an object like this: $STH = $DBH->prepare('SELECT first_name, address from people WHERE 1'); $obj = $STH->fetchAll(PDO::FETCH_CLASS, 'person'); and have an object like this: class person { public $first_name; public $address; function __construct() { $this->first_name = $this->first_name . " is the name"; } } It shows me that the properties are being assigned before the __construct is being called -- because the names all have " is the name" appended. Is this some bug (in which case I can't/won't count on it) or is this The Way It Should Be. Because it's really quite a nice thing the way it works currently.

  • ssh-keygen accepting stdin

    - by Ryan
    I am trying to call ssh-keygen using a variable through bash as an input instead of a file to get a fingerprint of a public key. This method does not work as it says the key file is invalid (it's correct for sure) echo $pubkey | ssh-keygen -lf /dev/stdin This does work ssh-keygen -lf /dev/stdin < alpha.pub This does not work because I get an ambiguous redirect ssh-keygen -lf /dev/stdin < $(echo $pubkey) I would appreciate some insight as to how to get ssh-keygen to read from a variable with a public key and if possible, an explanation as to why the redirects aren't doing what I think they should be doing. I searched online but many of the redirect tutorials didn't seem to answer my questions.
