  • Pros and cons of escaping strategies in symfony

    I am still not sure in that matter. While turned on we're quite safe but some other problems appear (with passing template variables or counting characters). On the other hand we have magic turned off, everything is clear, but we have to manually escape every variable (that come from untrusted source) in templates. By the way, non-magic solution is used in Ruby-on-Rails. So the question is: when starting a new project in symfony do you disable escaping_strategy and why?

    Hello, sorry, it's not exactly a programming question, but I am currently in a research state and looking for similar projects, so I could analyze them: It should be application to iPhone or Android or other mobile platform, where, basically, user can access map with "places of interest" and add it's own "place of interest" (with photo and description). Kind of, community generated sightseeing map. I know it is quite simple and not a groundbreaking idea, but my google-fu is quite weak and I can't find anything like that.

    I use eclipse with "external" projects - i.e. projects created from existing source. Poking around in the workspace files, I cannot find any reference to these projects. My question is: how does eclipse keep track of these projects? I'd like to be able to add such a project to the workspace automatically (by generating .project and .classpath files)..

  • Synthesized property of a protocol not seeing superclass' ivar

    I have a situation where my subclass is not seeing the superclass' instance variable x. The ivar is obviously @protected by default, so why do I get a compiler error "x undeclared"? - (CGSize)hitSize { // Compiler error return size; } EDIT: hitSize is a property of a protocol my subclass is conforming to. The problem was that I had hitSize @synthesized, which was the culprit. The question then is why can't the synthesized getter see the ivar?

  • Optimal pixel format for drawing on iPhone?

    Pretty simple question: when doing some pretty intense drawing with CoreGraphics on the iPhone, how can I specify the pixel format to get optimal performance? Is the format that I get from the context via UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext per definition the best one? I know that RGB565 is supposed to be the fastest to use in OpenGL. Does that go for CoreGraphics as well? General advice?

    If we make a thread STA like this: Thread.SetApartmentState(STA); then it cannot run code marked with [MTAThread] attribute. We have seen [STAThread] in windows and console applications but I have never seen code with [MTAThread] attribute and don't know which .NET libraries use this attribute. My question is what are the limitations of a thread with apartment state set to STA, in compare to threads with MTA apartment state (natural .NET threads) ?

  • Using Javascript, How do I bring an already existing open window to the front on top of other window

    The question was fairly descriptive but I'll describe it further. Basically, I have Window1, clicking a button link opens window2. Clicking a button in window2 opens window3, clicking a button in window3 should bring window2 back to the front of the screen on top of window2. I'm not sure how this is exactly done, however I have used and played around with focus(), opener and other various methods and I cannot seem to get it to work properly.     I have a quick, newbie question... I just started looking through authrozation services and Apple's BetterAuthorizationSample... for some reason, I just can't get the hang of it. For example... I deleted the HelperTool and InstallTool and SampleTool.c and all references, but why does the program seem to continue work like nothing happened at all even after a clean build? Even commenting out all the code in SampleTOol.c doesn't seem to affect the way the program runs? Thanks

  • Is there any way to run "dir" directly?

    In my answer to this question, where the asker needed a fast way to get a directory listing of a folder on a network drive, I suggested using the DOS "dir" command. Unfortunately, it's a command, not a program, so you can't execute it with CreateProcess and so I had to put it in a batch file. I don't really like that solution. It feels like a hack to me. Does anyone know a way to run dir from Delphi instead of from an external batch file?
