• Firefox Extension needs to get cookie from PHP redirected external page.

  I am writing a firefox extension that interacts with a JSON server interface. I receive a url to the server which then redirects to the client site that provides the cookie. I need to be able to set this cookie in the users browser without physically loading it in the browser. Is this possible through an AJAX call? I tried using a hidden iframe, however firefox does not seem to like a php redirect in the iframe. My current solution is to load the site in a second tab that never gains focus and then auto close it when the cookie is set. This is very messy and would prefer something more streamlines. Any thoughts?

• Running mongod as a windows service

  Hello, i have installed mongodb on win32 and i am trying to run it as a service. I have followed the instructions posted here: http://www.deltasdevelopers.com/post/Running-MongoDB-as-a-Windows-Service.aspx but when when windows tries to 'load'/'run' the service there is a problem. I see the service under the services control banner constantly in the 'starting' state. The result: the service is not started and windows is constantly trying to start it without success. The instructions i have followed are: At the command line C:\mongodb\mongod -install then C:\mongodb\mongod -service Then i modified the Win Registry Entry for the MongoDB Service by setting the ImagePath key to the value of C:\mongodb\mongodb.exe -service Any advice? What am i doing wrong?

  I am getting the following error: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.DynamicData, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. I've researched the problem and some of the solutions are pointing to Turning on Assembly Binding Logging. I'm confused as to what this error is. So my question: *What does this error mean and how do I resolve it? I am not hosting the site in a shared hosting scenario, it is on a single server running .NET Framework 3.5.0 using IIS 6.0 Edit .Net Framework 3.5 SP 1 isn't installed on the server. The missing assemblies are apart of that Service Pack.

• CSS problems with our eBay custom HTML template

  we are building a template for our eBay listings. eBay allows users to upload a description as HTML code and allows that code to link your external CSS files. eBay displays the user's HTML code in an iframe, it looks like eBay calculates the height of your page on load and then and resizes the iframe according to that height. Here is a link to one of our test listings in eBay's sandbox environment: http://cgi.sandbox.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110097353751&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:US:1123#ht_692wt_1136 In Chrome / Firefox there's a second scroll bar next to the listing. In IE, the listings just covers eBay's footer which is even worse I solved this issue once using CSS and i can't remember how. I would really appreciate any help.   I've got very dynamic GridView and I need to allow to user to edit first column of it. After he edit first column of grid it must be updated on DataBase. Is there any ways to handle it ? My only idea is to put some changeable element to first cell of each Row so it must be able to set / get my values for each row but can't find yet any examples of it ... Additional info : GridView takes data from Object data source and all columns are dynamic (yes, maybe except first, but I add it in dynamic way) and load complete DataTable...

  hi. i have a website with google ads on it. i would like to make it load faster. thus i moved all the google scripts to the bottom of the page. i also have a placeholder at the location where the ad(s) should be displayed and other divs that (initially) get the ads. finally (in window.onload) i'm moving the ads that have just be fetched from google to their target locations. (a simple example page is here: http://www.nickles.de/temp/ads.html ) this works in ie, but it doesn't work in ff. (that is, in firefox, non-text ads show up fine, while text-ads don't.   I have developed a web application using Netbeans 6.7 and Ant. The webapp works, but I would like to refactor the code to use @Configurable Spring annotation for cleaner dependency injection. I was able to get load-time weaving (LTW) of Spring aspects to work intermittently (see http://forum.springsource.org/showthread.php?t=86904). At this point I would like to use compile-time weaving with my tool set. Could anybody provide an Ant target that I can use to weave Spring aspects at compile time? An extra credit will be given to anybody who explains how to configure Netbeans to execute the new Ant target right after code compilation. Thanks.

  After some searching i figured out how dragdrop is implemented for a picturebox. But there is one thing - the (inherited of course) allowdrop property isn't accessible from code or property window of picturebox class. So to make it work i added following line to my form-load: ((Control)pictureBox1).AllowDrop = true; Why do i have to do that? In msdn it says: "This API supports the .NET Framework infrastructure and is not intended to be used directly from your code." Any explanation appreciated and sorry for my grammar ;)

  I have an AjaxControlToolkit accordion control that i'm trying to load panes at runtime. When I click a button inside a listview, it should add a new pane to the accordion control. Here is the code that adds the pane in the onitemcommand event within the listview var pane = new AccordionPane { ID = key }; pane.HeaderContainer.Controls.Add(new LiteralControl(label.Text)); pane.ContentContainer.Controls.Add(LoadControl("~/UserControls/Covers/" + e.CommandArgument + ".ascx")); accordion.Panes.Add(pane); And this will successfully show a webcontrol inside the accordion control. But when I click on another button in the listview, the accordion is reset and it only shows the new pane instead of appending a new pane. Is there any way to keep the previous pane visible across postbacks like this? By the way, each of the webcontrols that are loaded in the accordion have input fields that will need to be persisted across postbacks as well. thanks!

• Five Things Learned at the BSR Conference in San Francisco on Nov 2nd-4th

  The BSR Conference 2011—“Redefining Leadership”—held from Nov 2nd to Nov 4th in San Francisco, with Oracle as one of the main sponsors, saw senior business executives, civil society representatives, and other experts from around the world gathering to share strategies and insights on the future of sustainability. The general conference sessions kicked off on November 2nd with a plenary address by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore. Other sessions were presented by CEOs of the caliber of Carl Bass (Autodesk), Brian Dunn (Best Buy), Carlos Brito (Anheuser-Busch InBev) and Ofra Strauss (Strauss Group). Here are five key highlights from the conference: 1.      The main leadership challenge is integrating sustainability into core business functions and overcoming short-termism. The “BSR GlobeScan State of Sustainable Business Poll 2011” - a survey of nearly 500 business leaders from 300 member companies - shows that 84% of respondents are optimistic that global businesses will embrace CSR/sustainability as part of their core strategies and operations in the next five years but consider integrating sustainability into their core business functions the key challenge. It is still difficult for many companies that are committed to the sustainability agenda to find investors that understand the long-term implications and as Al Gore said “Many companies are given the signal by the investors that it is the short term results that matter and that is a terribly debilitating force in the market.” 2.      Companies are required to address increasing compliance requirements and transparency in their supply chain, especially in relation with conflict minerals legislation and water management. The Dodd-Frank legislation, OECD guidelines, and the upcoming Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rules require companies to monitor upstream the sourcing of tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold, but given the complexity of this issue companies need to collaborate and partner with peer companies in their industry as well as in other industries to understand how to address conflict minerals in their supply chains. The Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs’ (IPE) China Water Pollution Map enables the public to access thousands of environmental quality, discharge, and infraction records released by various government agencies. Empowered with this information, the public has the opportunity to place greater pressure on polluting companies to comply with environmental standards and create solutions to improve their performance. 3.      A new standard for reporting on supply chain greenhouse gas emissions is available. The New “Scope 3” Supply Chain Greenhouse Gas Inventory Standard, released on October 4th 2011, is the only international greenhouse gas emissions standard that accounts for the full lifecycle of a company’s products. It provides a framework for companies to account for indirect emissions outside of energy use, such as transportation, manufacturing, and distribution, and it incorporates both upstream and downstream impacts of a product. With key investors now listing supplier vulnerability to rising energy prices and disruptions of service as a key concern, greenhouse gas (GHG) management isn’t just for leading companies but a necessity for any business. 4.      Environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) reporting is becoming increasingly important to investors and other stakeholders. While European investors have traditionally driven the ESG agenda, U.S. investors are increasingly including ESG data in their analyses. This trend will likely increase as stakeholders continue to demand that an ESG lens be applied to their investments. Investors are increasingly looking to partner on sustainability, as they see the benefits of ESG providing significant returns on investment. 5.      Software companies are offering an increasing variety of solutions to help drive changes and measure performance internally, in supply chains, and across peer companies. The significant challenge is how to integrate different software systems to facilitate decision-making based on a holistic understanding of trade-offs.   I have a page that loads a lot of images, css and javascript. I've added a far future Expires header and set Cache-Control to public on these external dependencies so they should be cached. But every time I do a Post/Redirect/Get chrome tries to load these again. This behavior is very similar to reloading the page. I've added ETags and handle the If-None-Match header which helps a bit, but it still generates too many useless requests.   Hi, We have a web application running in a production enviroment and at some point the client complained about how slow the application got. When we checked what was going on with the application and the database we discover this "precious" query that was being executed by several users at the same time (thus inflicting a extremely high load on the database server): SELECT NULL AS table_cat, o.owner AS table_schem, o.object_name AS table_name, o.object_type AS table_type, NULL AS remarks FROM all_objects o WHERE o.owner LIKE :1 ESCAPE :"SYS_B_0" AND o.object_name LIKE :2 ESCAPE :"SYS_B_1" AND o.object_type IN(:"SYS_B_2", :"SYS_B_3") ORDER BY table_type, table_schem, table_name Our application does not execute this query, I believe it is an Hibernate internal query. I've found little information on why Hibernate does this extremely heavy query, so any help is very much appreciated! The production enviroment information: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 (Tikanga), JDK 1.5, web container OC4J (whitin Oracle Application Server), Oracle Database 10g Release 10.0.0.1, JDBC Driver for JDK 1.2 and 1.3, Hibernate version 3.2.6.ga. • GWT RequestBuilder - Changin URLs

  Hi ! I'm using GWT to dynamically load html snippets from php script. I define the snippet i want the php script to return in the url (test.php?snippet=1). Now in GWT i have a function "getSnippet(int snippet id)" that uses a RequestBuilder to retrieve the snippet. It works perfectly fine, but it bothers me that i have to create a new RequestBuilder everytime getSnippet gets called. I'd rather have one ReqestBuilder and just change the url when getSnippet is called... Is there a way to do this ? Thank you !

• Redmon's Run As User not loading user's enviroment variables

  I'm attempting to use Redmon http://www.winimage.com/misc/redmon/ to send print jobs to a custom C# application. Redmon "runs" (actually the Print Spooler) as SYSTEM but has an option to Run As User to allow your application to run under the user that printed the job. The problem is that it doesn't appear to load the user's environment. So calling functions like Path.GetTempPath() points to \windows\temp instead of the user's. Also when attempting to run Outlook 2007+ via MAPI calls (to add attachments) it reports form errors due to, I think, the temp folder location. Is there a way to "reload" a profile or atleast get your environment vars within the Impersonated application? The only ideas I've had so far is to rebuild the vars directly from the registry, but I want to avoid this since it's a hack around (avoiding implementation details and all that). Or making a stub program that Redmon calls which then properly Run As User with full profile the custom application. Any other items or tricks?
